GARY VALENCIANO Set to Stage PURE ENERGY: One More Time at the ARANETA COLISEUM

Thursday, November 14, 2024

It ain't enough to stage a state of the art concert in Mall of Asia Arena, because yes, it's happening AGAIN at the Araneta Coliseum this coming December 20 and 22 for PURE ENERGY: One More Time with Mr. Pure Energy himself, Gary Valenciano.

For those who don't know, this is the same place where he held his first MAJOR concert about 40 years ago, so in a sense, this had to happen. Gary performed in the biggest venues here and abroad including Hong Kong, LA, and Abu Dhabi a couple years ago. Last year, he did Music Museum too. Everybody thought it was his last hurrah because of his pronouncements on interviews, but he's still at it. No health scares, no drawbacks could stop him from performing on stage, because as always, his music and life story is truly inspiring!

The concert will be directed by his son Paolo Valenciano and musical direction will be by Mon Faustino (who did his past ones too). This is possible with the help of his sponsors ABSCBN, Soundcheck, Novotel, PLDT, GAOC, Philippine Airlines, Naproxen Sodium Skelan from UNILAB, JB Music, Globaltronics, Power Mac, designer Francis Libiran, Toni & Guy, Young Living Essential Oils, French Baker, Tung Lok, and done for the benefit of the Shining Light Foundation (as with their previous shows). You'll get to know more about it too at the concert.

For those who would like to see the concert, you can get tickets via TicketNet (ticketnet.com.ph) or their email addy tickets@garyv.com and price ranges from Php 750 to Php 15,000. They highly encourage to get tickets early because they run out of it fast. If you want to know more, make sure you follow Gary Valenciano's social channels because updates about the show will be posted there!

Just to let you know, I've seen his Music Museum and Mall of Asia Arena concert, and it's one that I could say... that is WORLD CLASS! I thought I wasn't in the Philippines when I watched it, so it's a treat to see it happen at the big dome!

DARREN ESPANTO All Set for D10 Concert

Friday, May 31, 2024

H
e was just a baby (I kid)... but now, your boy Darren Espanto is celebrating his 10th year in the showbiz industry.

The last time I saw him was during his performance on Gary Valenciano's concert. If you haven't seen the technology employed in that show, you've got Darren to make you experience that in D10. He shared this during the press conference of his concert on June 1st, and from what I've been seeing in his photos during these past few weeks, he's about to give us a singing and dancing showdown that we've never seen him do. The tech he talked about had the ability to move with the subject, so the lights will be crazy once it lands on the Araneta Coliseum stage.

Here's a few details divulged during our interview

Confirmed guests include Erik Santos, Ogie Alcasid, Lyca Gairanod, Gary Valenciano, Sarah Geronimo, and Vice Ganda. I think there will be more, but that's going to be revealed on the actual day. His rehearsals are tough, he's been spending a lot of time on it these past few weeks and he says, he's just lucky that he's not getting sick even if he lacks sleep. He's going to the gym, so he gets the stamina he needs for the concert. He also started vocal rehearsals and want to stop perhaps a day or two before the show.

So imagine what you will miss if you don't watch the show tomorrow. I think there are only a few tickets left on some sections, hope you get to see Darren celebrate his 10th year. He still has lots of plans in the pipeline especially with his music. I heard an album in the works but perhaps a single would be dropped on the actual concert day.

From The Voice kids to this? How time flies indeed!

Congratulations Darren! Can't wait to see what you've got up your sleeves!

Meeting MEGA for "SHARON My 40 Years"

Sunday, July 29, 2018

All smiles, Ms. Sharon Cuneta

This is my first time seeing Ms. Sharon Gamboa Cuneta-Pangilinan in the flesh.

Just like you, I have been a fan as far as I can remember. Her iconic movies, her variety shows, her hit songs and shows all made us feel just be so thankful for her existence. Rightfully so, she's been in the industry for 40 years.

Honestly, I was a little afraid of seeing her because - I'm just an ordinary person - and she - is an icon. I felt a little unworthy to talk or interview her because of her stature, her place in society, not to mention being a Senator's wife and Megastar. It's a title bestowed only to her, by the public for being a remarkable artist. I was invited to this event  through our friends from Philippine Airlines, and I wasn't that crazy to pass on the opportunity to see her. I sat at the back of the room keeping a low profile, almost incognito in between entertainment bloggers that I often am with in events. During this thanksgiving dinner, I planned to only ask a few questions if we had a chance to talk to her towards the end of the program they planned to do. That didn't happen quite as planned.

When it was announced that she was at the venue already, I thought most of the people in my table would've fainted by now. Ms. Sharon was ushered in and you know what she was doing? She was holding her phone up on her face and she was gamely taking Instagram videos live, glowing, smiling, sincerely happy seeing her most loyal Sharonians who evidently have been with her through the years. I was thinking of a stiff royal celebrity but was seeing an endearing, very spontaneous and charming woman. The way she talks, you could sense how much she's full of wisdom, learned and experienced over the years. She's someone that even if you know you had flaws, but she speaks in a manner that you would be convinced that she would still accept you wholeheartedly. I had this in my mind.

She stood in front of the stage and exchanged pleasantries with her fans, print, broadcast and online media. The funny host (her beloved standup comic) put everybody at ease and told us why we were there.

Ms. Sharon is on her 40th year in showbusiness, and what better way to celebrate this achievement but by staging a concert called SHARON My 40 Years. For starters, she wants to give back to an industry that has been so good to her.

Her manager, friend and confidant Ms. Sandra Chavez

The SHARON My 40 Years Concert will happen on September 28 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Tickets are available now on Ticketnet.com.ph or you can call 911 55 55. She dubs this her BIGGEST and HARDEST concert to date because you can expect a lot of production numbers to pay homage to her career. She tells us that things were not always good but in all those downfalls, she has learned a lot and would never regret any of it. Aside from that, she told us how proud she was for her daughter KC. She's armed her with all the things she can, she's out on her own in the battle called life.

Here's our interview with the Megastar after the event.

About KC Concepcion and her wish for the people who love her:

About plans to get The Sharon Cuneta Show seen on the concert itself

About her stint on the ABSCBN show YFSF Kids and Gary Valenciano

About her new online channels, and webisodes for Sharon on Youtube. Make sure you follow @sharoncunetanetwork on Instagram!

She is in her prime, but Frankie (her daughter) gets mad when she gets conscious about her weight. She tells us how she eats, and perhaps including some of it on the websiodes she's planning for her Youtube channel.

I personally asked her about why she put up The Sharon Cuneta Network and she said it was one way to get to connect with her fans in a direct way. She also shares what she thinks about her millennial fans, and her privacy. Check out our interview.

Her advise on how to handle money, and how to be happy? Simple, TRAVEL! She also shares her dream countries  and bucketlist!

Do you know why she loves bags? Here's why!

Here is Ms. Sharon Cuneta inviting you to watch the concert on September 28th at the Araneta Coliseum!

Ms. Sharon Cuneta also shared her blessings by hosting a raffle for the press and her fans. I felt my Dad had a hand in picking me as the winner, thank you so much Ms. Sharon!

I was too shy to do this but it happened. Thank you for the opportunity to get to know you even for a few hours Ms. Sharon Cuneta. You are loved by the people because you genuinely care for them, you check on their welfare and the sincerity encompasses everything. Rich, poor, LGBTQ or just about any joe, you have them at your back because you're just YOU, and we thank you for that.

I'd like to end this bit with that saying that was shared by Ms. Sharon Cuneta. I researched and it came from Lt. General Sir Lord Stevenson Smith Baden Powell (the founder of scouting) who says "Try and leave this world a little better than when you found it, and when your turn comes to die, you can die happy in feeling that at any rate, you have not wasted your time, but have done your best."

 PS
Thank you for the prize, I promise to make people in my life happy with it. (check future webisodes or showbiz news to know what this means)

Please make sure you don't miss Ms. Sharon Cuneta's show on September 28 at the Araneta Coliseum and on August 3 8PM at the SMX Convention Center in Davao City's SM Lanang Premier.

IMPOSSIBLE Starts Today at the Smart Araneta Coliseum

Monday, December 25, 2017

Impossible is the world’s greatest magic show, ran for 2 years in UK and six magical acts will be here in Manila on Christmas day. Magical Bones, Ali Cook, Chris Cox, Bello Knock, Ben Heart, and Josephine Lee will make you drool over their acts all in different ways. It starts today (CHRISTMAS DAY) and will have two shows at 1PM and 7PM. They will be here until January 3 so if you're looking for good family fun, you shouldn't miss this world class show!

Chris says “I’ve been doing magic since I was 7, but been doing this show for 2 years. We have performed in about 100 countries, we have really performed in front of a lot of audiences.”

Bello adds “We might not have the helicopter but we have other stuff that people hasn’t seen yet. I look like a clutz, I feel like a clutz, people laugh so might as well go with it. They say the fear of being in front of large audiences, being laughed at, I’m doing that for a living now. It’s three death defying stunts that I’ll do in the show so you have to watch out for that.”

Josephine Lee on the other hand was giddy and says “I’m here to have fun and these risks on stage is done to motivate, inspire and make people keep going at what they do.

Ben Heart says “We are looking forward to design a show, high tech magic, dangerous things like fire water and fun, you love Christmas so much that we had to add that in as well. We just would have fun that evening, so we’re looking forward to see you!”

Magic Bones says “We might have bomed a few acts, we just had to go with the flow and improvise. People don’t come to see you go wrong and not according plan and do a new thing if one doesn’t work out. I don’t get scared, I just go into performance mode and play with the audience while I'm here.”

I'm already preparing so I can go later at 7PM so see you at the Araneta Coliseum! :) This is produced by WILBROS.

Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach's Homecoming at Smart Araneta Coliseum

Sunday, January 31, 2016

It was a night of grace, class and elegance of the Filipina Beauty Queen. I've never been into pageants that much but have really high regards to the people who live an breathe it. We are all proud of our contestants and made sure they've got the backing of a nation when voting online, campaigns are concerned. We've now gotten Filipino designers to actually do the gowns too and pretty much did all the things we hoped would change our fate in the Miss Universe competition, and it did bear fruit. After 40+ years of waiting for it, we finally have Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach as our new Ms. Universe 2015, at the most opportune time and slightly controversial one at that. We were a little sad she didn't get to do a proper Ms. Universe walk so when her homecoming was prepared, they arranged a part of the program to be her official walk. Here's some excerpts, a collection of 3 videos as part of our coverage of Pia's Homecoming a few days ago. Thanks to the goodness of SMART Communications, PLDT Home for having us!

Erik Santos and Yeng Constantino opened the show. Xian Lim hosted it together with Dianne Castillejo and Venus Raj. A parade of former beauty queens who won the Bb. Pilipinas - Universe title also happened that evening.

This is Part 2, the reveal of Pia whilst she was serenaded by Piolo Pascual and her crush Sam Milby.

This is part 3 where Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach did her official walk as Ms. Universe 2015. She wore the Blue Gown that Albert Andrada made for her during the actual pageant. She was stunning!

Again, thanks to the lovely people at Smart Communications and PLDT Home for having us!

Wish 107.5 Launches First WISH 107.5 Music Awards

Friday, January 22, 2016

Wish 107.5 just launched the WISH Music Awards and is holding it on January 26th. It's their first and by the looks of it, their esteemed set of judges will also have a hard time choosing who will win the awards. 50% will come from fan votes, 50% will come from the judges scores. Judges will be given audio files and briefed about the criterias before the actual day. They had a voting period last October 2015 and after getting those songs and seeing the performances, they shortlisted the names and had them as nominees. Surprisingly they got the indie and upcoming artists also included in some categories. They have 15 artists also performing in the show including Darren Espanto, Marlo Mortel, Daryl Ong and other recording artists. This is no joke because they'll be giving away Php 100,000 to the artist's beneficiaries aside from the tokens and awards to be given to them.

The categories are up for Most Promising Artist, Best Wish Cover, Best Wishclusive Performance by a Young Artist, Best Wishclusive Performance by a Group, Best Wishclusive Performance by a Male Artist, by a Female Artist, Urban Song of the Year, Alternative Song of the Year, Ballad Song of the Year, Original Song of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Female Artist of the Year and Young Artist of the Year. Whoo! That's a lot!

Wish FM is not after ratings, and they're getting tons of support from their listeners and this is just their first year. They want to prove the 70's, 80's, all hit songs from their station is worthy to be played 24/7 in the Philippines. They'll be doing a lot of promos to get those lovely songs to your cars and homes. So make sure you tune in to the station or go to Araneta Coliseum on January 26! They will however have a preview on January 24 as the nominees will be there! Tickets will also be given away on the same date so see you!

Christmas Sparkles at the Araneta Center

Monday, November 09, 2015

It's been a tradition for people in the metro and Quezon City to converge at the Araneta Center at the start of Christmas Season. The most awaited Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony just happened and there were tons of artists from The Voice of the Philippines, some teen idols from Star Magic and the one and only Vice Ganda to join the occasion. The ceremony itself was done my the first lady of Araneta Center Korina Sanchez, LP Vice President bet Ms. Leny Robredo, Mr. Berndt Schneider GM of Novotel Manila and several beauty queens of Binibining Pilipinas.

Here's a glimpse of what happened that evening!

A Sparkling Christmas at the Araneta Center by kumagcow

I loved the part where Jerome Ponce, comedian Negi, Bradley Holmes, Daryl Ong and Jason Fernandez performed for the crowd and even played a few games with them. I won a few cans of Coca Cola too during that event. I can't wait to see what else is up for the lovely new Araneta Center this Christmas Season. I've seen concerts, a few UAAP games and even The Jets in the brand new Kia Theater. If you want to shop conveniently in Cubao, make sure you get it done in the Araneta Center. It's so near my hood I could call it home!
