See Her Shine: SOPHIA STAVE

Monday, July 19, 2021

I've been covering photo shoots of celebrities for quite a number of years. This was kind of special as it's been a while since I've gone out because of the pandemic. I've seen a few photos of her online and getting to know a new artist might seem to be a chore for some, but I felt a little excited because Tyronne Escalante Artist Management had a gem in their hands. She's Sophia Stave, a Filipino American beauty from the province of Bukidnon which is an extensive plateau and mountainous area in Mindanao.

After living in San Francisco for a couple years, she and her parents went back to Malaybalay, Bukidnon 4 years ago for business and pleasure. She didn't know she'd end up representing the city through a pageant that didn't push through because of the pandemic. She was discovered through social media by TEAM (Tyronne Escalante Artist Management) and she's been riding the wave since then.

Sophia has a soft heart for horses and she's been riding competitively since 2018 after tagging along with friends in the province. That's good news so if there would be stunts in projects that would require riding one, she'd wouldn't have to train for it. She also plans to take up Animal Science in college soon as it is clearly has become a passion. She also wants to make it far in showbiz, use this platform to good use and do well in every project she's involved in. Sophia also adores Liza Soberano which she feels she could connect to since they almost have the same background since she too came from the US. She also loves Daniel Padilla, which to me means she has good taste! Here's more of our interview with her at the studio on our video editorial.

We couldn't help but marvel on how she looks. She's very pretty even up close. These photos don't do justice (which I captured on mobile during the shoot).

Currently, Sophia is currently making herself busy at their farm in Bukidnon during the pandemic. She's taking lessons and watching more Filipino movies/series to learn more about the language and her craft. She's a bit flexible in roles she wants to do, she's both a princess and a toughie. Now if she lands in a network soon, you know you've seen her here first. Follow TEAM's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/TeamTyronnePH) for more updates about her and other artists from their camp.

You'll see Sophia Stave shine even brighter, soon!

It’s Back! : Miss Teen Philippines 2019

Wednesday, December 05, 2018

Young girls dream to become beauty queens, role models and inspire people. Their thrust have always been so far to continue their cause to help generations of kids to get proper education, to speak to the youth and also inspire them so they could listen to their personal cause. This is the journey of Miss Teen Philippines.

It has been a few years since this has happened, the last of which was in 2014. Back then, it was so hard to actually stage a production and aside from economic difficulties, they just didn’t have enough sponsors. With the resurgence of interest in pageants in the country, that has been solved. Miss Teen Philippines also has partnered with local government agencies, the DSWD, DepEd and the National Youth Commission as they too will also help with some of these agencies initiatives.

As per Ms. Regine Angeles the Youth Empowerment Through Education Foundation Incorporated Director, they are looking for someone who is not just a pretty face, but leadership in promoting their cause so she too could be a role model for their peers. She also needs to have the vibe of the younger generation, she also has to be outgoing. Now there is another set of empowered ladies that will vie for the crown.

First Miss Teen Philippines winner Stephanie Sol now has her MBA in Business. She is also a former GMA artist.

They have to be 14 to 18, enrolled at school, and is a Filipino citizen. Yes they have adjusted the age a bit because of the gap between 13-18 which they did in the past. They will have to also pass small pageants in their own regions before they could go to Miss Teen Philippines, so there will have to be a lot to go through to get that crown. If you think it’s time to start your pageant journey, go to Facebook.com/missteenphilippinesofficial or send questions to inquiry@missteenphils.com.

Regional search will start December 15 in different provinces around the country. Follow their channels so you can make sure you can join.

The BUM x PEPSI Capsule Collection

Monday, June 18, 2018

We've known BUM for a couple of years now. They've done remarkable collections, unbelievable shows and had the cream of the crop as far as endorsers go. They've been the authority as far as teen street fashion is concerned, and they're showing how they've been leading the pack in this show.

Worldwide soft drink brand Pepsi partnered with them in this capsule collection. What does this mean? They're becoming one, imagine how this would look like in merchandise. The logo, things that represent the Pepsi brand will be immortalized in shirts, caps, jackets, pants made for and by BUM.

I bring you the whole show in photos. Thank me later!

The first hour was all about this gorgeous lady DJ - they did this to put us on the mood first. On to the show!

Then the first lineup of models came out. The clothes were just so promising!

"The Debutantes" Starring Regal's IT Girls

Saturday, September 23, 2017

This October seems to be a nice month to be frightened. This is why Regal Films is not holding back a few days before Holloween in this funny horror film called THE DEBUTANTES. It stars current IT GIRLS Sue Ramirez, Miles Ocampo, Michelle Vito, Jane De Leon, Channel Morales and hunky Paolo Gumabao. If you see, it's stars are topbilled by real millenials and in a sense will revolve around Kate (played by Sue) who is just like any school girl, wanting to make friends and belong to a group.

That doesn't seem to work so only a few got in her groove and started to bully her silly all throughout the movie. Once she had a nightmare, she warned them about the bad things that happened but they didn't listen. They suddenly have mishaps along the way, is this karma? Oh no!

During the blogcon they shared their own stories of bullying because aside from the fact that it is the theme of this film, they all had their share of bullying too. Miles, Michelle and Jane had their projects destroyed by jealous classmates, they also said mean things about them physically. Their advise is to ignore them because bullying really happense because there are insecurities, which also needs an audience so they could look good by making you feel bad.

Miles added "I am still studying in UP but I am doing something big, but I'm not in a hurry really. I am not here for the fame, but for the longevity, because I am quite contented with the projects I have today. This is also my first time in Regal and I am so glad to have been able to do this because I was really excited about it during the story con."

Prime Cruz added "We have graphics, but we are doing a different treatment on this one, more neon lights, bright scenes and not necessarily like Manananggal my previous film. It's younger looking as this suits the millenials and we like to present it that way."

Jane quipped "I like this because it is my first horror film, and I get to experience how it is to be a mean girl, something that I don't like in real life."

Paolo Gumabao says "I spent a long time  in Taiwan studying but got bullied there because I was Filipino, from gradeschool to highschool it was difficult. They all laughed at me when I told them that my dream was to be a movie star, and look at me now! This age is when we are about to get matured, formation, and you get to be more serious about love."

The film will show on October 4, 2017 and if you're not doing anything that day, might as well watch it and see what a bunch of millenials could do. This is done by Idea First Company and produced Regal Films.

Nash Aguas: BUM You Rule The Summer

Wednesday, March 01, 2017

His undeniable charm, good disposition and looks would make any teen girl fall to her knees. He's Nash Aguas and during the shoot, he was his old self. This was the time where their previous show Doble Kara ended and right now, they are preparing for a new one which they could not divulge yet. He also discusses what he wants to wear on a hot day, how to keep it simple and how to be cool during summer. Aside from that, I also added the BTS video which I made right after the shoot, so make sure you watch that as well.

Alexa Ilacad: BUM You Rule The Summer

I love seeing how much fun Miguel Tanfelix, Bianca Umali, Nash Aguas and Alexa Ilacad had during the shoot. They even ate together during breaks and I didn't see any network wars whatsoever, it was refreshing to see them also raw, just being friends, and felt comfortable in the clothes they wear. Apart from the thin fabrics, they were just being themselves.

Miguel Tanfelix and Bianca Umali: BUM You Rule The Summer

So I'm sure you've been waiting for this. I dropped by the BUM You Rule The Summer campaign photoshoot a couple of weeks ago to see Nash Aguas, Alexa Ilacad, Miguel Tanfelix and Bianca Umali. Street wear has been the brand's strength and there could never be a good fit for endorsers than these four. I spent a couple of minutes talking to them on video to ask about what favorite things they wore during this shoot. The collection is in different shades of gray, black and white. They also have some colors here and there but not so over the top designs because they want you to be comfortable with the shirts, it's summer and we don't want you to perspire more because of the material they use in this collection. So enjoy these photos first, then watch the video of Miguel Tanfelix and Bianca Umali at the end of this post. Trust me, you'll love these shots!

BTS of Nash Aguas, Miguel Tanfelix, Alexa Ilacad and Bianca Umali for Bum Black Army (PART 2)

Friday, July 01, 2016

So I've already published Part 1 yesterday about our behind the scenes special for the BUM Black Army shoot with Nash Aguas, Alexa Ilacad, Miguel Tanfelix and Bianca Umali. I've been saving this the whole month and kept a lot of you waiting, truth is we just had to make it special. It's the end of June, start of July and I think that about makes it half of the year. I don't really have a point, but it's just something like a new beginning, a new way to look at these cute stars you love so much because we're talking to them like real people. I saw them doing things like normal people do, they've taken this love team thing to a different level because from the looks of it, their friendship is deep, seriously something that could start something serious in the long run. Although I think they're still enjoying their youth, they're doing it in different levels. I like how they love their clothes, that it's totally okay to relax and stay comfortable even at work, school, or at home. That's where BUM's Black Army Collection comes in.

The weather is okay (although it was scorching hot during this shoot we were shooting for the next season, so imagine how hard it was for NLEX and BiGuel!) and I think it's the season to actually use layers. A shirt, a jacket, it's all but a necessity when it's wet and wild rain outside. If you were like me who thinks umbrellas are for sissies (sorry mom!) then a cool jacket and a shirt would be okay and if you saw what I posted yesterday, you'll see a lot of that today too! So get ready to see more of Nash Aguas, Alexa Ilacad, Miguel Tanfelix and Bianca Umali in this series of photos, plus we have a video of them too at the end of this article. Our exclusive interview!

Now check out more of these shots plus our exclusive interviews with Nash Aguas, Alexa Ilacad, Miguel Tanfelix and Bianca Umali at the end of this post!

Mark Herras and Mike Tan Celebrates Birthday with Women in Crisis

Monday, December 14, 2015

Two good looking guys, two very accomplished actors. We were with Mark Herras and Mike Tan a few days ago for a small charity event as they celebrated their birthday with women in crisis at the Kaisahang Buhay Foundation in Quezon City. It's a shelter for women who can't provide themselves a roof over their heads, or support during their pregnancy. Teenage pregnancy in particular is very rampant still and they've got several cases of mothers to be as young as 12. They definitely need help, and with these gorgeous guys giving them entertainment even for a few hours, hopefully they'll forget, or be optimistic that whatever their problems are... they'll all get through it.

Mark is still in the series called Dangwa with Janine Gutierrez and Aljur Abrenica. He's portraying the role of Baste who is in love with Janine's character Rosa but couldn't find the courage to tell her. You should definitely watch their show every Saturday. It's aired worldwide in GMA Pinoy TV and will feature small stories in between their story. It's different every week and is something you should look forward to!

We had a chance to also talk to Mike Tan. He was so moved by the stories he heard from the women who were in the center. I could feel he really did get affected as he shared his own story. Growing up in a single parent's house, he was lucky to have been able to get better in life. He has been blessed because he's a good man, he also hoped for these women to stay strong despite of the things they're going through right now. Here's also our interview with Mike on video:

Mike Tan just finished his Aquathlon and done it in great fashion. He won a bronze if I'm not mistaken and for a first timer, isn't that amazing? Make sure you wait for more projects with this looking guy. He's probably going to be in primetime or afternoon prime as always. He's good in every show he's been in and I'm not surprised why he's always been blessed.

Happy birthday Mark and Mike! It was my birthday too last December 6, being born in the same month as you guys make me proud especially since you're doing more good things. I want to emulate what you guys are doing :)
