BLACK RIDER Readies for FINALE WEEK on GMA

Saturday, July 13, 2024

Direk Rommel Penesa was so happy about how Black Rider turned out. It has exceeded expectations, and the long time it's been on TV plus the ratings are proof of it. We got to talk to the cast and the people behind the show this afternoon. Thing is, Black Rider will have it's FINALE Week on July 22nd, and there are big things happening in the show.

Ruru Madrid says "I have learned a lot from doing this series, starting from LOLONG, then this one, it feels good to see how their kids actually emulate my character. It's what I always put as a goal, I know what to do in the next projects. In the past, I only dream about it but now they all send me videos, of them living their hero dreams. Eversince, I've always wanted to become an actor, to achieve that and see people dream like me, doing this series, I hope to do a film in the future. I also want to Direct, as I've been watching Direk Rommel Penesa do it. I hope the network trusts me even more in the future. Working with Yassi was quite easy, she really collaborative. She asks the questions to make the scenes better. My character made me realize that we go through things in life, but it's up to us to be consumed by the depression, he needed help and got it from the people around him. He wouldn't survive without them, and that's what I learned about this character. Everyone can be a hero, without super powers, you can help and people can be inspired from that. If we have a book 2, I hope Elias gets out of the tiring vengeance trail. Black Rider needs a change, to fight for others, the small things he can do everyday."

Yassi Pressman says "It's been a roller coaster ride, to my Black Rider family, Vanessa was a joy to do. She's something I've never done before, she loves her family, and with the new revelations, there's just so many emotions to do because I have amnesia, I have to do so many things because there are people brainwashing her. For anything, the experiences I've had with the people will always be cherished. I would say this has really shown what I could do as an actress. With the help of good script writing, there's heart, love, friendship, it's a colorful life. I've always loved working with Ruru because we have done Video City. He also helps me improve what we do, because he's a real good actor. I have a few things lined up this year and next year, hopefully I could tell you about it soon. In life the challenges we face, we always should be positive. You need to find people who can help, especially the important ones, follow your heart, listen to yourself more than anything. Smile, put that energy out there, be kind."

Jon Lucas adds "Calvin Magallanes won't exist without the help of other actors. The Director also reminds me much of who he is, portraying him is really challenging. My Papa Sir Raymond Bagatsing really told me about playing villains, and the attack is different. Their help and support is instrumental, they take out a lot out of me. Calvin is a really tough person, he wants to fight for what he feels is right. He is just a little hot headed, but he's someone that gives it all. I will miss a lot of people, even before we were launched, I felt I wouldn't be doing much without this. I really had to learn the ropes, from writers, Director, the actors, I will miss them all. I thought this was going to run til December. They gave me a lot of things to think about. Maybe in the next saga, there will be a lot of women empowerment line. A woman by his side, maybe something fun with the story."

Herlene Budol says "The work with Empoy is hard, when you look at him, you can't be serious and I lose character because I am a fan of him. A little move, a little conversation, I laugh at him. Chemistry wise, I enjoy our moments together, we really have to make landi when we are on set. When I finished Magandang Dilag and guested here, I thought it was just a short stint. I think the impact this gave me was huge, because the action sequences are hard. The artists are also big, I'm having separation anxiety already. I learned a lot to listen with co actors, to focus because there are a lot of things I had to understand what the Director wanted me to do. The blocking was another thing, you have to dedicate a lot. I still have a lot in the near future, but couldn't say it yet. You'll have a lot of things to look forward with Budol. My fights with Hector makes me so drained at the end of the day. I feel it physically and emotionally. I take it home sometimes. Aleck Bovick tells me a lot where her slaps would land, I adapt a lot of techniques from her and do it on other scenes."

Empoy says "I didn't really have a hard time doing this because my characters are fun, and the people I work with are so nice. When I wake up, I just pray, clean my teeth, look at the script, wear my Black Rider wardrobe and that's it."

Raymond Bagatsing says "Playing Senor Edgardo according to the script is both intriguing and fascinating. As the story went along, he didn't want to become that guy, because his life is hard, and I trust the process of letting the script reveal where my character would go to. It's a collaboration, it's something that I don't realize later on. It's a beautiful set, actors, crew and staff, I think that's how my character bloomed in the story. I can only wish he be happy later on, but I don't really know what will happen to him in the TV series. As Edgardo, he kinda accepts his fate, that's how he is. He doesn't look for pleasure with other people. Elias being his son, and his other son, plus reconciliation with Alma, he deserves to be happy in the next scenes."

The plan is to close the stories of the characters. It's going to be realistic according to head writer Erwin Bravo. If you are hoping for a next season, it looks positive. The stories will be continued especially for the main story. It's going to be as Filipino themed as possible, it's the promise of Black Rider. Make sure you watch the finale week starting on the 22nd of this month.

This is under GMA Public Affairs, and from the looks of it... they're going to have more programs in the pipeline that's waiting to be discovered!

YASSI PRESSMAN is Your New GSM Calendar Girl for 2023

Tuesday, November 08, 2022

Yes you've heard it, your newest Ginebra San Miguel Calendar Girl for 2023 is Yassi Pressman. She was formally launched as Queen of the Barangay and brand ambassador in the yearly Ginebra San Miguel event.

Yassi Pressman just transferred networks but really gained fame with her dance numbers in variety shows, her stint in Ang Probinsyano, and a lot of other programs from the same network. Now her upcoming programs in the Kapuso network include a reprisal 80's film "Saan Nagtatago Ang Pagibig" which will be a project with Viva Films and GMA to be shown on her new station.

They unveiled the new calendars  and it's got a lot of photos of Yassi in different places. From a garage, a forest, by the sea shore, with willow trees, scenic sunset and by the fire. She exudes a different energy.

Yassi says "At the end of the day, being a part of a great legacy is something special. They are world class and I hope I put something on the table as the new GSM Calendar Girl 2023. I am in a fitness journey right now, I am eating healthy and hopefully this would show. My favorite GSM girl is Pia Wurtzbach. It's challenging to be disciplined, in a way I am going through a lot right now and I feel like being part of this is being ageless, my most natural self and I think people should see that so they get inspired to work on themselves, surround themselves of the people who love them, never say die and keep going in spite of troubles. If you try and fail, you've got a lot of people to catch you. This is for my family, it's why I am really inspired to keep going, they are my inspiration. Being caring is innate in Filipinos, I hope to also get to help other people as your 2023 Calendar Girl."

If you want to get hold of the new calendars, make sure you visit Ginebra and the respective products social channels and get the chance to own these much coveted Yassi Pressman GSM Calendars. You can by the way scan the individual QR codes on the calendar and find a little surprise... Some good recipes made with Yassi Pressman whilst you drink! Enjoy!

Yassi Pressman and Sam Milby for "Ang Pambansang Third Wheel"

Thursday, March 01, 2018

This story deals with Trina, played by Yassi Pressman who wanted the guy of her dreams and finally found all the characteristics with Neo played by Sam Milby. It's called "Ang Pambansang Third Wheel" and is produced by Viva Films under the direction of Idea First Company's (owned by Jun Lana and Perci Intalan) Direk Andrew Payawan.

The theme song "Ikaw Pa Rin Ang Pipiliin Ko" (you'll be the one I'll choose) was written and performed by Marion Aunor who did a splendid job by the way!

Alonzo Mulach plays the adorable kid who Yassi found as baggage with Sam’s character. They also find themselves dealing with Alonzo’s mom in the project as taking care of him needed a whole village. Sam says “I’m very blessed to be her leading man, I don’t think she needs help because the popularity and skill is already there. I am just glad I’m a part of this because this is the first time I got to bond with her, since in Camp Sawi we didn’t have a shoot together even though we were in the same scenes. Yassi is so much of an extrovert, she gives energy in the set. She’s the complete opposite of me, during mmff I saw her in the awards night and from there I really liked her, she is my crush. On a personal level, she’s my type but I’m also going through a breakup so I need to grow personally before I go to a relationship, I am happy right now but that is the truth.”
Yassi says “A third wheel is someone who always is with couples or friends, ends up alone, takes pictures, orders food, it’s different from a third party. Trina was cheated on, maligned, didn’t get to find her own love and ends up only being the friend who goes with her friends dates. This is one that some people will be able to relate to, even in the things we did after the shoot, it was eye opening. Sam is sincere, very nice guy and he’s very quiet.”

Direk Andrew adds “I hope people get to watch this even if I got intimidated making this with Yassi and Sam. They never treated me like a newbie, even if we’re tired we still got to think about the story. I had to do a few shows so it took a long time to finish this, but we didn’t think it would affect the film because we knew the material was good.”
This film will show on March 7, follow Viva Films on FB, Twitter, IG and Youtube for more updates because they will be in mall shows to promote the movie.

The Women of Camp Sawi

Wednesday, August 24, 2016

This film has been connecting to this generation in a massive way. For those who have loved, hurt, lied upon and are still in the process of healing, Camp Sawi is but a refuge set to be a cure to the lifelong mystery of "how to move on". The cast is an ensemble of equally interesting women who had in one way or another had gone through struggles themselves. How do they play the role of these women? Is there some weird connection with their real life personas? Or is this a dream? Or is it just their past haunting them too? Here are some snippets of their interview during the presscon a few weeks ago. I saved this in case they were doing the premier night already (which was a while ago). I didn't get to go because of the rain, but here's some of the things they said about this film and about their lives that might interest you. Just a few things that I picked up!

"I think I've been very cautious after that failed relationship, I was thinking we might talk, and get back together. I went back to who I was but a little smarter because I know what to do already. My character is in love with Dennis and it's really a good thing to have a small part of yourself in the role so people would still recognize that it is you, and how you are as an actress. I hope there really is a Camp Sawi because everything else has a cure, it should be the same with those who are brokenhearted including your friends." - Bela Padilla

"You'll enter a bitter phase. But you'll later realize all that lacked in that relationship, learn to fill it up the next time I do have one. It's normal. It's going to make you stronger. Taking him out of the equation felt like life had no meaning anymore, I needed to find myself after I was blinded and I needed to know who I am as a person, to love yourself and never require a compromise. Being an actress, it works when I don't bring things like these to work. I understood myself more and make the character not that expressive. You get to know people here because there are no cellphone signals, you really need to talk and it's healthy. Camp Sawi is something that I did for myself. I explored, and I got to know about the country, and more of myself." -Andi Eigenmann

"I need the most important people in my life to tell me what I did, what I need to do and what I should do the next time. I feel I can now conquer anything in a relationship. I am stronger now. I feel it's a part of me, I know how to act like the person because I personally did went through that. I'm sure everybody had a heartbreak. We're often asked about opening a real Camp Sawi, they wanted it to come true and they have the actual are still there." -Arci Muñoz

"I don't want to get the character as close as what I experienced in real life. Hers is a different world than mine, the only similarity is probably the capability to love, but the rest are made like what I do in theater." -Kim Molina

"We also did a dance number and fit into the role of those who are in the "sawi" situation. It went a little viral, it cures everything when you're sad. It was fun doing that!" -Yassi Pressman

Camp Sawi will be shown on theaters this August 24, 2016. It's a stellar cast and moving on just mean helping others so you can help yourself. Mall shows will also happen in different malls, follow their official page to know more. I bet you're itching your hands to know how to really move on.... and judging from the people who watched it earlier, it's a good one!"

Viva and TV5 Launches "Born to be a Star!"

Monday, January 04, 2016

It's the first presscon of the year and we're glad VIVA invited us on their new show called "Born to be a STAR!". It's a reality singing contest showcasing the best of the best singers in the country. They also introduced the judges none other than Rap Legend Andrew E, Acoustic Superstar Aiza Seguerra and the one and only Concert Queen Pops Fernandez.

"I'm always grateful in all the things that come my way, this is a new year and a lot of new things are gonna happen and we believe everything will happen. It's a break from boyfriend questions. It was so hard to do this in the past because we didn't have the Internet. There were only a few people given a chance and this time we're looking for that one person. It depends on how lucky you are, the face and the voice, there's that IT factor that is needed also for you to be a star! I thought it was easy, I've gone through tons of hardships and I hope this also gets us the star we're looking for."says Pops Fernandez.

Aiza says "Maybe I was really born to do this, not everyone is given chances twice but I was. I'd like to think I was born to do this."

"The show hasn't started yet but I'm so glad Boss Vic and Viva trusted me with this. This is going to be one of the toughest shows, we're already saying there will be a star and I'm honored to be part of this show." says Andrew E.

Mark Bautista says "First time to cohost and it's kinda reminding me of the previous competition I was in with Sarah Geronimo. I can't wait to see how this show goes. I'm not tied up to any network but I'm still with Viva Artists Agency and we're looking for the next star!"

Yassi Pressman added "I feel so lucky to have been given opportunities by Viva and this is one of it. From Diary ng Panget and other shows, it's a good feeling they continue to trust me."

"Viva plus the expertise of TV5 is gonna be in one show, so just imagine. I'm happy and optomistic. My expectations are very big and the fact that this is here, I'm so thrilled about it. The brightest stars only get proper names, but it's not always easy to be a star. We're looking for that one person who wants to make a name for himself and how he gets to embody that. There are only a few who want to get it for themselves." says Ogie Alcasid.

"We went to the previous format, auditions, weekly and monthly finals, a whole year of searching for that one star. So we're going to have a great run. The program is made to find that person, it's been a few years already and it's time."says Direk Monti Parungao.

"There are things that are discovered, there are some manufactured and some are really born with it. We've done really good things in the past and this is the next one, hopefully we'll find more!" says Boss Vic Del Rosario.

Auditions for male and female applicants (13-18) will be in SM CITY Bicutan on January 9-10, SM CITY Sta. Mesa on January 16-17, SM CITY San Mateo on January 23-24, and SM CITY Novaliches on January 30-31. There will also be other legs in Cebu, Davao, Batangas, Dagupan and Metro Manila on March so watch out for that. This will be aired on February 6, 2016 on the happiest network in the country, TV5!

Wattpad Presents This February

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

This February, get ready to fall in love in different ways as one of TV5's top rating primetime shows gets a ton of new stars, and new stories as Wattpad Presents more novels to be seen on TV this month. You've probably watched the successful pairings of Mark Neumann and Shaira Mae, or Jasmine Curtis and the hunks on the same show. This time they're making it extra sweeter with Suklay Diva Katrina Velarde and Pythos Ramirez (of GMA Artist Center) in a series named "Bitter Ella" (Bitterella), a new pairing with Vin Abrenica and Yassi Pressman in "My Fiance Since Birth", Ahron Villena and Sophie Albert in "Cupid's Fools", and Marvelous Alejo, Ranz Kyle and his group Chicser in "Ex Ko ang Idol N'yo".

Ahron Villena was being interviewed when I sat down with other bloggers during the press con. I know you kinda miss him in shows from the other channel but he's actually freelance now so he can work elsewhere. "I've reached my peak I guess and I'm thankful. I'm okay but there are opportunities that are coming. I've done quite a number of shows on TV5, initially with Rc Munoz. If ever I'm going to be here permanently I wouldn't mind. I'm still doing a series in ABSCBN in Passion de Amor but its good that I didn't have conflicts. I'm very busy, my 2014 was busy last year with Legal Wife, then other shows, then the ones on TV5. Until now I'm not really used to this, when I tried it, I auditioned and won in a contest. I went back to Batangas thinking that was it. Then offers came, I'm happy with anything. Maybe aside from acting, I want to have a business. I told myself to put in money to invest, but when I got into a taxi business and it got carnapped. I'll try to put up more funds for that, to eventually have my own business so I have something to fall back on. If I want to get married, I can still do that later on. I'm single, not really looking but if there's someone that comes along, I want it to be the last one... the permanent one.

I've also worked with Ritz Azul and want to work with her. Perhaps we can do that in Season 3. I'm not really doing anything but the blessings just come in. I'm not really used to lead roles, I always do support roles and I get surprised at what comes to me. I'm with Arnold Vegafria and my contract expires a few months from now. I want to put up a restaurant, but I'm still taking it slow because I have a lot of projects. Soon, if I decide to pursue that, 2015 will be better for me and I'll have more opportunities soon." says Ahron.

Wattpad Presents February

I saw Katrina Velarde but I was too shy to interview her. She's my favorite among the Biriteras who did a show last year. I even saw them perform live which made me like her even more. She's starring in a Wattpad Series with Kapuso hunk Pythos Ramirez.

Wattpad Presents February

As a matter of fact, among the pairs and groups that were there that afternoon, the press seem to have loved this pairing the most. Everyone was excited to see how this sculptured Greek looking guy fall in love with a quirky and funny gal like Katrina. Somewhere in that scuffle I even saw Katrina made "kilig" with some of the questions she had to answer about the show. Anyway, I know Phytos is a good guy because I've seen and interviewed him in past GMA events, and he's happy that GMA Artist Center is supportive of it. They even upload teasers for that and he finds Katrina much like a very close friend when they did the pictorials. Katrina couldn't answer directly if she would fall in love with someone like Phytos but if ever, I think they'd make a good couple no? Hehe.

Phytos also believes in effort, small things to make a girl feel special. I bet if they had to do it in real life he'd be acing it.

It's the first time that Chicser is actually on a series, so it's understandable that they're a little nervous. When they got the project together with Marvelous, the first time they met, they were like old friends. They (Chicser I mean) didn't leave anyone hanging because they believe that even if one of them get lead roles, it's already a success for the group. They treat themselves as brothers and if there's anything they want to do, they want another project with still, the whole Chicser together.

Marvelous has been doing villain roles and having her as the love interest made her a little excited. They did a workshop already and they're still learning the characters, they seriously did read the books before taking the leap and have these projects. The help they got from facilitators and the director and they said it was a big help in making sure they bring justice to what they're doing in the series. Oh and did I say I love Marvelous? Hehe I do!

Okay, I know some SoVin fans may be weirded out about Sophie Albert and Vin Abrenica not being together in their respective projects. Although they do have a stern following, TV5's producers is trying out these pairs so there's new flavor, new things happening in every Wattpad show. They don't look any less sweeter though because once that the press conference ended, we still saw the two Artista Academy alumni having tons of fun with each other. They're still the same sweet couple we always dreamed them to be after all these years. Vin assures that it's all just work that they're doing and there's nothing to worry about.

Vin will be paired with Yassi Pressman and they didn't have to ask permission from each other because whether or not they had to do kissing scenes, they both know at the end of the day that they'll be together. Now that was really nice no?

Anyway, make sure that you guys watch their own respective Wattpad Series on TV5 everyday at 9PM.
