A Balanced Lifestyle at Pico Terraces at Hamilo Coast

Friday, April 25, 2025

Maybe, just maybe, you're looking at your next summer home. We're sure you've been dreading Manila weather because it's just too hot out here for most of the day. With 7,100 islands to choose from in the Philippines, SM Prime takes you to Pico Terraces at Hamilo Coast in Batangas.

It's a really quiet refuge from SM Leisure Resort Residences, tower structures that are mid rise development set to be all done in 2027. You can just walk a few minutes to Pico Beach and get access to the Beach and Country Club. It's also available in different floor sizes if you want a one, two or three bedroom layout. It's definitely made for families who would want a different feel from the urban setting. Something that would balance your lifestyle if you want to run here when you need a little more peace and quiet. This is something that isn't too far from Manila either, because a 2 hour drive could get you there according to Ms. Shirley Ong the EVP of SM LRR. They are also keen on keeping much of the land for open spaces, something that you should consider especially if you have a lot of kids, or family members. They also have a lot of amenities, gym, a place for yoga and other activities for the day.

They also have pools that would rival huge resorts, all in the comforts of the cove. If you are also a nature lover, want to trek, they have trails and more to enjoy the outdoors. They also have several places you can hold private events, those special occasions aimed to make memories, you'll love it there! Go find them on socials and their website, I bet those 211 units would run out fast judging from the interest growing with it.

Development Plans for Tagaytay Highlands Bared

Thursday, February 13, 2025

The famed mountain resort and leisure destination Tagaytay Highlands just rolled out its plans for the 1,200 hectare property. This land that sits on Cavite, Laguna and Batangas which still asks to be developed further, this is where Highlands Prime Inc. comes in, they're the subsidiary of SM Prime Holdings.

The plan includes to put the property filled with commercial establishments, provide services for its residents, space for recreational activities, but still keeping it sustainable. It's going to further improve the mixed use plan they have for The Highlands, Midlands, Midlands West an Greenlands which are districts of Tagaytay Highlands. I remember staying in The Highlands a couple years back which was filled with Swiss looking chalets and log cabins, filled with pine trees, a panoramic view of the mountains, something unbelievable to see often for folks from Manila.

The Midlands on the other hand will be paradise for Golf lovers as their Midlands Golf Club will draw in fans of the sport but still offer a place of refuge with stunning views of Taal Lake, Mount Makiling and forests along the lake. Luxury villas, a place to camp out, plus a long stretch of residences that promote health, wellness, while nestled in the mountains. Midlands West on the other hand will have open parks, so you get a mix of modern amenities and nature. The Greenlands remain eco friendly, wide and apt for outdoor activities which will remain this way for a long time. They will foster conservation efforts to maintain the natural beauty of the property, with a goal to reach a million trees before 2044. As of now, 490,000 sits in it. There stands more for future generations, and this is just the start for Tagaytay Highlands. There's more low density condominiums being developed so each resident would experience that mountain resort living they've dreamed of.

This is just the start for Tagaytay Highlands.

Sustainable Tourism Thrives at Hamilo Coast

Friday, October 14, 2022

I've been to Hamilo Coast quite a number of times for family and events. It's actually a really good destination to do pretty much anything you put your mind into. The property sits in a 5,000 hectares of prime land managed by SM Prime under Costa Del Hamilo, Inc. It's a mix of residential, mid rise leisure driven resort with rooms that have spectacular views which you don't see much in the south. The development is well thought of and if you stay for a while, you could see how they put together the best elements you could ever ask for in a property. The convenience of modern facilities; and a heavenly landscape, the enjoyable outdoors where flora and fauna roam freely.

See, Hamilo Coast takes this to heart. They partnered with WWF or World Wide Fund for Nature Philippines. True to their word, this has been going on for 15 years and through this, they work on effective and sustainable tourism programs in the areas of coastal resource management, Solid Waste work, active mangrove planting, sourcing renewable energy and environmental awareness communication to affect a lot of people. The environment is riding on this which is why they are continuing to pursue world class and standardized eco tourism processes that takes leisure property management a notch higher.

CDHI's Hamilo Coast brings forth a beautiful community that doesn't forget to be responsible. As one of the most coveted properties in the region, they make sure to address matters that would be harmful for nature like solid trash and wastewater, and put proper plans in place. Both organizations have been working on programs that puts the importance on environment and build sustainable communities that make the right choices for their own and others. Their overall environmental management plan should be lauded and aside from the programs they have in place, should continue the coastal cleanups and the annual Earth hour which they celebrate in this property. Together with WWF, the Hamilo Coast management and the community, they can spark change and inspire more people. The Pico and Santelmo Beaches, the whole estate would be enjoyed by generations to come. It starts here, and it starts now!

Make sure you visit their social channels to get updates on activities and know more about what Hamilo Coast is all about.

Dream Beach Properties at Hamilo Coast

Saturday, March 12, 2022

It's been a stressful few years for all of us in the Philippines but the real estate market have been relentless especially in sustainable communities like Hamilo Coast in Nasugbu, Batangas. The place has a lovely white sand beach, luscious landscapes and country club amenities that would be a dream to have at this time and age. Thing is, it's accessible as it only takes an hour and 30 minutes away to get there from Metro Manila.

Recently, Lamudi published an increase in acquisitions of beach homes back in 2020. It was even bigger compared to 2019 despite having health scares across the globe. Leechiu Properties Consultants Inc. on the other hand proved much of that data is true even in the luxury market, as people turned to getting into homes that are stress free, all during that time when lock-downs were prevalent. It makes total sense as people prefer to even work in these conditions, even banks became more lenient providing loans for this purpose and see it a good return of investment in a couple of years.

Aside from those who wanted and needed to move, investors have taken a nod in owning homes with picturesque views like the ones in Freia. The condo units there have mountain and sea views, anyone would dream to have. Aside from the resort like look and amenities, you're gaining quality properties that are managed by Costa Hel Hamilo, Inc. which is under successful SM Prime. It's safe, secure, very tropical in design courtesy of foreign partners and consultants that did a tremendous job to make this a paradise. If you would want to see the property or take interest in owning one, you may check hamilocoast.com or call their office at 79458000. Wish I'd take refuge there!

Oriental Mindoro Ramps Up Tourism Efforts: Set To Launch App and Website on July 8th

Tuesday, July 06, 2021

My memories of Oriental Mindoro has always been a pleasant one. This is where the rich tropical forests touch white sand beaches and clear blue waters spore an amazing amount of coral reefs that could wow divers from around the world because of the sheer amount of fish that live here. Aside from that, the region is home to huge mountains and yet to be discovered waterfalls and caves perfect for spelunking, hiking and exploring if you're into adventures this side of the world. Tourism has been one of the most affected industries in the country and to jump start things in this province, the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro has joined forces with the Department of Tourism's Tourism Promotions Board to launch the new "Travel Oriental Mindoro App and Website."

What is quite different in this app is that it's a one stop shop wherein you can get details about the hottest places in Oriental Mindoro, verified information about how to visit the tourist spots and up to date travel advisories. That's super convenient, especially at this time when you need to know local government requirements so you get there faster, safer, not just for you but the people around you. The app contains endless information and historical facts about individual Oriental Mindoro towns so you could discover more of its people, world class diving spots, experience the best of local food and the province's available accommodations so you could concentrate more on what's important to you. You can easily log in with your Facebook or Google accounts with a few taps and even leave reviews for places you've been to, experienced, so others would have an idea what to expect when they arrive in the same place. You can also check several shops listed on the app wherein you could purchase and take home knickknacks and bring home as pasalubong (a customary gift after a travel) to family and friends, so they don't feel too left out, and maybe see what they're missing out since they didn't get to be with you on this trip.

The app is powered by ITDC Systems Development Services who made it all user friendly. The Travel Oriental Mindoro App and Website will be officially launched on July 8th (this Thursday) at the Provincial Capitol grounds and will be witnessed by stakeholders from the travel and trade sectors, as well as the kind people of Oriental Mindoro. So make sure you download it by then and experience Oriental Mindoro like you've never did before. It's going to be available on the App Store and Google Play, you may also visit their official website at www.travelorientalmindoro.ph once it gets launched soon.

I can't wait to see that place again!

FREIA at Pico de Loro Cove Almost Done!

Tuesday, March 16, 2021

It looks like the FREIA project at Pico de Loro Cove is nearing its completion, and that's great news! The place looks so good as the sprawling trees, man made lake and an ocean view just makes this a piece of heaven on earth, those sunsets had colors that were so amazing!

Best of all, it's only an hour and a half drive from the city center to this resort community in Nasugbu, Batangas. It's part of Hamilo Coast and they say the project will be turned over during the first half of 2022. That's so reassuring that even at times like these, they have managed to stay on top of their game and stand at 80% already, in a pretty big land that counts 40 hectares that include clusters Jacana, Myna, Carola and Miranda.

I've seen this property during a previous visit as it sits in between a throng of trees, the West Philippine Sea, Mount Pico and a whole stretch of beach property managed by SM Prime’s Costa Del Hamilo Inc. The property is designed by Broadway Malyan, a heavily awarded international design firm who does projects here and cities around the globe. These mid rise condo units are available in two bedroom designs, three bedroom ones with penthouses, rooftop terraces and patches of gardens. In this place, you'll never run out of views since that's what they took advantage of especially the seaside vistas as it is so heavenly! Mind you, they are achieving this with lesser carbon footprint because they've sourced almost all building materials locally, all in the conclaves of your home making each unit very private and spacious, pretty good for those who want to seek refuge away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

That's awesome to know they put great value in providing these things and so much amenities that come with the property. You can use the accompanied membership to have access with their Pico de Loro Beach and Country Club facilities, their three restaurants too if you're a little lazy to cook on a weekend or everyday.

Wish to see it all done out there, the FREIA project at Pico de Loro Cove looks and sound so amazing! Interesting right? Well you can get more information from them via (632) 7-945-8000 or their site www.hamilocoast.com as all the details are there!

Beach Front Homes Waiting To Be Owned at FREIA

Tuesday, December 29, 2020

It's lovely, it's dreamy, things you just can't imagine actually exists. Fancy it? It's called FREIA, named probably after the norse goddess of love, fertility and battle. Now I know you've all been confined in your homes in Metro Manila or somewhere else in the world, but if you're already going crazy and in the mood to be relocated in a peaceful and luxurious place, then this newest mid-rise residential condominium in Pico de Loro Cove at Nasugbu, Batangas might be the perfect fit for you.

For those who don't know, the whole of Pico de Loro Cove is being developed by internationally renowned SM Prime via Costa Del Hamilo Incorporated. This property is very secure, quite secluded, but this 40-hectare estate has got panoramic views of the West Philippine Sea. It's a short drive to Nasugbu town proper and about an hour and a half to Manila. They also got lots of open spaces, shaded nooks, covered walkways, quite substantial sized condos from 67-154 square meters. There are also three-bedroom loft penthouses from 221-392 square meters, some look even bigger than a house, it would be perfect for weekend getaways (your very own spot) or perhaps your actual home rather than living in the smoke filled air of the city. The sea view units are where you can see the action on the beach while the mountain view units gets you much solitude and quiet, there's one for your preference. These units are not available for rentals, as security is tight in these properties. Condo prices also come with bundled Pico de Loro Beach and Country Club individual membership.

Now that doesn't mean they're bound to miss the city's amenities because if you're hungry, it's very easy to order via three restaurants in Pico De Loro's cove. It can be served in your homes, no fuzz. If you have medical emergencies, there's a 24/7 ambulance which can take you to the nearest hospital too. This community is also near churches and just about anything you would want to raise a family in. All these, surrounded by trees, crisp smelling wind which you can have all year round. Kinda nice huh?

If you're looking for one, simply call (632) 7-945-8000.

TAWILIS: A Good Breakfast Treat

Friday, December 04, 2020

If there's one thing that this pandemic has done, it's that the entrepreneurial spirit of the Filipino actually surfaced. Tons of businesses left and right, to survive, we had to resort of many ways to earn a living. This includes services, products, even food, which all remind us of our humble beginnings.

Now I loved staying in Tagaytay city. Whenever we stay there, our relatives remind us how welcome we are each time we visit. In the morning, I always wait eagerly for breakfast which includes toast, rice, ham, bacon and eggs, plus my favorite the super crispy fried Tawilis. The pandemic had us all confined in the city and think twice about going out of Metro Manila. While I wanted a taste of good breakfast in Tagaytay, it was a bit impossible as Tawilis was pretty much sourced only in Taal Lake.

Lo and behold, our friends heard our wishes. There actually exists DRIED TAWILIS. I was so ecstatic that something like this is available in Metro Manila. During breakfast the next day, I lightly toasted this over hot canola oil and I was overly careful not to do it too long as it might burn. I also sprinkled a little sugar just like how I cook my dilis. And voila! You now have your own Crispy Dried Tawilis at home. Since this is Tawilis, it's not overly salty because it comes from fresh water.

What's good is that one packet of these actually can feed a bout 3 or 4 people. It looked quite small with the packaging but when you fry and take it out, it's enough to feed a small family. Now imagine having this with fresh sliced tomatoes, onions and salted egg... ugh... I know right? Well don't fret because it's actually easy to order from them. Just call Kuya Nic's via 0995 3336670. He's doing this also to help a business in Tagaytay that was heavily hit during Taal Volcano's eruption a few months ago and of course they typhoon.

You'll love this good breakfast treat, I'm sharing it so you too can help businesses thrive during the pandemic.

Cheers!

A Call for "Isang Laban"

Tuesday, May 19, 2020

The "Isang Batangan, Isang Laban" online campaign is a collective effort of like minded professionals who are from the province of Batangas. They are UP Batangan Alumni members from different backgrounds and industries (Media, Production, Film, Advertising, Engineering, Marketing and Healthcare). Bound by their socio-civic spiritedness since college days, these individuals made an initiative to drive Bayanihan and solidarity in this time of COVID19 (pamdemic) with the aim to create a meaningful crusade to give honor to their alma mater and community, and aide in the fight against this dreaded virus. They want to specifically help healthcare workers in Batangas and no distance can stop them from doing this even in the time of crisis.

Everything is digital and with this, they were able to produce an original video with the help of medical doctors from the province and narrate actual experience in the frontlines, so they too could ask for help to equip hospitals/medical facilities to battle this unseen enemy.

They also got Ryan Agoncillo (a native from Rosario, Batangas) and Kimpoy Feliciano (a known online personality) to join this call and showcase this original piece which unveils the spirit of Bayanihan. It also talks of compassion and unity. True to the spirit of Batanguenos, to be brave in every fight, they call for One Batangas (Isang Batangan), One Fight (Isang Laban).

The 6th Anilao Underwater Shootout

Wednesday, December 05, 2018

Underwater photography has always been an awesome niche that I haven’t touched on because for starters, the equipment you need to take shots underwater come at a pretty hefty price and two, I can’t swim. I am a bit sad because our country has the most diverse underwater subjects, creatures, wrecks and just about any fish there is in the ocean and to be in the midst of all these things and not see them at the same time, is just a whole lot of frustration for me. Good thing some of the most amazing photographers from around the world are converging in Mabini Batangas for the 6th Edition of the Anilao Underwater Shootout. This is a competition organized by the Department of Tourism in cooperation with the Local Goverment of Mabini Batangas and the Resort Owners Association of Mabini (ROAM).

Mind you last year they have had 175 participants from 17 different countries like Singapore, China, Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, Korea, Turkey, Portugal, USA, Switzerland, Germany, Hong Kong, France, Australia, Canada and the Philippines. It was won by Lilian Koh a female photograper from Singapore (Open Class Champion) and PJ Aristorenas from the Philippines who got his Macro shot of a skeleton shrimp win first place.

The prize is not a joke. They’ve got 40,000 US dollars worth of dive packages, diving and photography equipment, gears and accessories. This is part of the reason why they have exceeded the number of participants this year. It’s like the Grand Prix of underwater photography, running from November 28 til December 1, 2018. They had to go through hundreds of photos to choose the champion this year, and boy they didn’t disappoint!

Asec Roberto Alabado III says “For this competition it will showcase our country, our dive spots, as a sustainable tourism destination. Last year, we had about 12% our GDP contributed to tourism. For this year we have 241 participants who come from 24 countries so this is like a mini UN scene you’re seeing.”

Check out the highlights of my trip and the event here!

The judges include John Thet, Ellen Cuylaerts, William Tan, Indra Swari and famed underwater genius Laurent Ballesta. They look at the manner people dive, the quality of the photos, to show the beauty of the animal, to showcase the beauty of Anilao. The judges even said they wanted to learn because the standard here is high. The silent rule is, a right photo is better than a good photo so there will be almost no photo manipulation as we have to be strict about it. True enough there were amazing, it has to be different, to wow, not just taking photographs. A lot of these photographers were inspired so they all came out with beautiful photos. They are all shot naturally, stunning even in their own environment. Every year the competition is getting tougher and the photographers are getting even more skilled, but they never forget nature. The support coming from the resorts are all making this successful because even with that increase of contestants, they still were able to accommodate it. The Department of Tourism is planning to duplicate this in other provinces because this one is successful, so I am really excited about the other emerging sites like Leyte, Dumaguete, and other provinces.

Ellen Cuylaerts says “I was blown away by the diversity, I go from one place to another and say wow again just in Anilao. Everybody works together in making sure this is sustainable, I am glad I am excited until now for you to see what they got from just one place.”

Willam Tan adds “I just arrived yesterday and I dived once and I have seen a lot of creatures that I have never seen before, even if this isn’t my first time, I would be happy to go back!”

Now that it has been a very successful installment this 2018, they have no where to go but up! I am also excited about what the DOT and Dive Philippines has planned for the other parts of the country that have not yet been developed as a diving destination. We really have so much promise, and their people are exemplary in hosting this event, the whole DOT and local government wants this same successful hosting to be replicated in other provinces so they too could be dive havens like Anilao. Make it happen, make it happen real soon!

Thank you so much Dive Philippines and Department of Tourism! This was so much fun for photography people like me, the prizes and the experience is just amazing! Hope to see you next year!

Summer Lovin at Aquaria Beach Resort

Thursday, April 02, 2015

It's officially summer and when the opportunity came to visit a resort in Calatagan Batangas came, I hurriedly grabbed it. It's a few hours away from Tagaytay City which is also pretty close to Manila. This is Aquaria Beach Resort. A sprawling property developed by LANDCO Pacific Corportaion, the same people that brought you Playa Laiya, Playa Calatagan, Hacienda Escudero, Terrazas De Punta Fuego and others, this world class property at Playa Calatagan, Calatagan, Batangas is but a piece of paradise that would cater to people of all walks of life, in this place, anytime. We ventured to Batangas the morning of March 23rd with my blogger friends. If you're finding some place to be in this Holy Week or just about any other day this summer, check out this video about our journey there, plus the things I enjoyed the most while in Aquaria Beach Resort!

It was fun, it was glorious, you'll feel blessed to live in a country like ours. Aquaria Beach Resort has amenities that would be envied by other establishments of the same nature, and they've done this quite nice in some of the resort's awe-inspiring areas.

AQUARIA Beach Resort

When you get off your car, you would be greeted by this imposing structure in front. This serves as their front desk and arrangements before you enter the resort happens here. Entrance Fees cost 500 for Adults, 250 for kids on a weekday and 700 for Adults and 350 for kids on a weekend. You can also rent a Cabana in the beach front for around Php 1000 or Php 1,500 that can fit around 10-15 people. Make sure you also bring proper swim gear and other stuff that you deem necessary for a beach trip, toiletries and towels included (because I don't think they have that on hand as of now). Property owners and their guests get perks of course so if you're thinking of getting a beach property anytime soon, they've only got a few units left so you better do it in haste!

AQUARIA Beach Resort

Don't worry about having enough shower rooms or comfort rooms because this place has a lot inside this building. It also houses the locker rooms if you want to keep some of your things safe while you frolic in the sun, they've got that covered.

AQUARIA Beach ResortAQUARIA Beach Resort

This is the Kid's Pool Area. They've got several fountains, water guns and water showers inside this area. I've seen life guards both in the beach and in the pool area so I think everyone's safe. Adults should stay in the other side which have around 4-6 feet of water if I'm not mistaken. Aside from that, this particular feature is fun!

AQUARIA Beach Resort

This is Aquaria Beach Resort's Giant Water Slide. It's a big tube where you can fit huge 2 prong lifesavers that can fit 2 people in it. You go down the tube together and whirl your way down the pool, make sure you listen to the person upstairs so we don't get into trouble while doing the slide. It's ultra safe, but probably not for kids. Unless of course they swim like a fish for a living then that's an exception.

AQUARIA Beach Resort

Up on the beach front they have these cozy cabanas which I deem you try and get if you wanna go here. It's a place where you and your family could spend the whole afternoon lounging around, having a glass of wine, a bottle of beer and barbecue. You can also rent a grill from them and bring your best meat, fish or poultry products if you're up to it. I got my massage here and it was very comfortable. They've got the beach volleyball, beach football amenities right beside it. Aside from that, they've got henna tattoo stations beside them as well. I got one before I left the resort and it's still here... I totally loved it!

AQUARIA Beach ResortAQUARIA Beach Resort

As you saw on my video up there, they've got a ton of beach activities including open sea Kayaking, snorkling, island hopping, banana boats, jet skis, or just bumming around the beautiful shore. They've got around 4 kilometers of it if I'm not mistaken. They also have scrumptious food served at the beach restaurant which they call Sands. Kudos to the chef who grilled my baby back ribs, it was so good I had a few kilos of it still in my system. As with the other things, it'll be in my memory of this place... of which I promise to go back to when I need a beach refuge that doesn't  entail a plane or a boat ride at all.

Thank you so much to the great people from Aquaria Beach Resort for making our stay memorable. I've already got friends and family asking about it and I won't hesitate to share how I got here. It's their turn to have some fun under the sun!
