What You Need to Know About GrabPet

Tuesday, October 17, 2023

If you've been seeing the announcements recently, it's good news for you and your fur babies as the GRAB Superapp now offers a service called GrabPet. It's a new, safe and convenient way to make sure you get to travel with your pet, whether furry or scaly, and bring them from point A to point B.

If it's that time of the month where you have to bring your pets to the veterinary clinic, your favorite groomer, pet cafe's or a play date with another pet, you can now do it with one press of a button if you are covered. They did this in the past and this is some sort of a re-introduction, so for the time being, it's going to be only available in select areas in Metro Manila. Much of the GrabPet fleet are 6 seaters to make sure you've got ample amount of space when you need to travel with the kids with 2 or 4 feet.

You need to remember a few things though to avail one. A ride can only be done with human passengers, you can't leave your pets alone with the driver. As a pet owner, you need to also make sure your furry kids are clean and not infested with parasites/fleas. You can only bring 2 small/medium sized pets or 1 large pet every booking. They also are required to be in diapers and inside carriers to make sure they don't soil the cars while on transport.

Grab drivers in this particular service have been trained for it and yes, your pets are also insured if they are in the car. For starters, it is available in Makati, BGC, Shaw, Ortigas, Pasay Mall of Asia, NAIA, Malate and San Juan (more areas soon!). You may check the fine print here.

BDO Insure and Pioneer Partner Up for Your Fur Babies!

Monday, October 02, 2023

Have you already insured your kids with 4 paws? If not, then here's good news from BDO Insure and Pioneer. See, they've managed to get more affordable but customizable plans for your cats/dogs. They teamed up just to make sure you get them the protection they need but give you the freedom to choose what you need in it.

The VP for BDO Insure Ed Ramirez says "This Pet Dog and Cat insurance will certainly give paw parents peace of mind when the unexpected happens to our fur babies. The Philippines remains the highest in terms of dog ownership in Asia while we place second in owning cats as pets. The love we have for them inspired us to come up with these insurance plans that can be personalized, easy and affordable too."

They've got 4 different plans that you can get for as low as Php 560 and get you coverage for fractures, burns, drowning, bites and a couple more on the list. You can customize that and add in those for different illnesses, dental conditions, accidental death, pet travel (for emergencies), if they get abducted or owner's fault. They also welcome different breeds, even mixed ones as young as 3 months. If you've got an older one, they can still be insured as long as they don't go beyond 6 years. Then it can also be renewed til they get to 12 years. This was showcased during the SM Super Pets Club Caravan during weekends at SM Malls. Other activities were also enjoyed by furparents and furbabies like the Doggie Boot Camp, The Super Pet Fur Show, Meet and Greet with TikTok superstar Show Suzuki with his cute Gonta. So if you're around SM Malls, go there from August 12 to September 3 only on 8 pet friendly SM malls. If you want to know more about the BDO Insure Pet Dogs and Cats Insurance, it's all online at bdo.com.ph/bdo-insure/personal/pet so go get them covered!

YOU MUST WATCH: Stand By Me Doraemon

Monday, June 15, 2015

I wasn't too keen watching this movie called "Stand By Me Doraemon" because I thought it was going to be just for kids. The cinema was filled around 50% adults and about 50% kids. Well okay, about 70% kids. I was still excited though because among all the Japanese cartoons I've watched, I felt Doraemon was just in my alley. I like the cute antics he does but not the Tagalized version that made it a little cheap. The English and Japanese version I must say pays attention to the little things, and it doesn't make me get bored because they try so hard interpreting the cartoon in a big way too much that it looks OA. This Doraemon movie is in English, it's probably also meant to be shown on 3D judging from the camera angles and story flow.

I must tell you, I loved the story. I also love the part that they're still finding humor in everyday situations and why it's important to be sane in these times when everybody's connected to technology. They also are giving us lessons in how we can have love, relationships, and learn even without it. You will also learn why bullying is not a good thing to do, something your kids can really pick up from while you explain things. The cat from the future isn't just a robot, because he'll make you realize the value of friendship, and how important it is to value the time you spend with friends and family. I must say, I even saw some of the adults in my row crying in the dark watching this movie. If they got affected that much, I'm sure most of you will too. It's excellent in my books, watch it as they show the film on June 17, 2015 in all major theaters!

You MUST watch this movie!

Meet Britney!

Monday, March 01, 2010

I used to own a dog a few years back and since it was a SPITZ it was pretty high maintenance. I never really had problems with it because I was always looking forward to go home and play with her when I am stressed. Her name was TWIGGY named after the model and we had some very fond memories of each other. Unfortunately she got hit by a car one evening... sure enough tears rolled down everyone's cheeks at home. We never got over losing her and vowed to never take any pets again. When we were cleaning the garage one faithful morning we found a stray cat in the boxes and sure enough she had kittens too. It seems she just gave birth to 2 and my Mom was afraid to touch them since rabies has been a little rampant in Manila. I didn't know our helper got the box and placed it outside the house; until we heard one of the kittens crying for her Mom perhaps in the middle of the night. It was irking the neighbors; we decided to get the kitten and feed it soon after wards. The cat's Mom seems to have abandoned it since it never came back. It looks like we are going to have a stray cat as a pet and I decided to keep it. We conveniently named her BRITNEY. I fed her milk in the first few days then when she could already begin to eat, her meal consists of our leftovers since it was the first time we ever took care of one. I got her shots the next day and the veterinarian said she needs to eat a well balanced meal too so we got her cat food from the store. She needs a lot of play which I would not be able to give her that time since I was too busy with work at that time. Soon enough, I noticed some of our furniture got scratches all over it and Mom got worried it will damage the antique ones too. The friendly shop owner recommended I get a Scratching Post so she would stop doing it on Mom's things. I canvassed in malls and it was worth thousands of pesos and I thought there must be alternatives on line which could be more affordable. I saw this Cat Tower from sites like KITTY MANSIONS and it was reasonably priced; and it fits the purpose. I am sure if Mom would like it too. She is the one who takes care of her when I am out for work. It keeps her busy and on her toes which is good since she just retired. Good thing there are sites like these that offer personalized places for cat's to sleep in on a lazy afternoon. It induces the cat to be active too so that is a plus! Now she has a place to call her own in our home. I'm glad!
