80's Icon DEBBIE GIBSON to do ELECTRIC YOUTH Anniversary Show in MANILA

Wednesday, April 03, 2024

If you're a child of the 80's and 90's, you've probably heard of Debbie Gibson and her hit single "Electric Youth", which is consequently celebrating its 35th year. She's back in Manila to do a 2 hour long concert at the New Frontier Theater in Araneta City this coming April 26, Friday at 8pm.

She's also excited to perform her other hit songs like "We Could Be Together", "No More Rhyme", "Who Loves Ya Baby", "Over the Wall" and my personal favorite "Lost In Your Eyes".

She's still killin it in streaming platforms like Spotify and has amassed millions of streams and has cemented her status as a pop icon and theater performer these past few decades. She also returned to the Billboard charts with "Girls Night Out" peaking at #4 which is unbelievable!

She's not stopping anytime soon so if you are still hungry for her songs, go get tickets via Ticketnet or the New Frontier Box office too. Remember, April 26 is quite near so make sure to get them before they run out!

Year of the Water Tiger Celbrations at Araneta City

Wednesday, January 26, 2022

Though it's been lockdown season last 2021, I can say I've been lucky even if the odds were against me. I've been guided by Feng Shui pointers by Feng Shui Queen Marites Allen, it's pretty simple to follow and I've been doing good so far.

There are activities this Chinese New Year at the Araneta City that you should look forward to. This January 26, there's a Tunnel of Chinese Lanterns over at Gateway Mall which you should check out. They also have a horoscope exhibit so you can get guided this 2022. There will be similar ones at Ali Mall and Farmers Plaza from today til February 6th, it's a fun place to be in. There will be a section at Gateway Mall and Farmers Plaza to get various Chinese delicacies and charms which you could get Tikoys and lucky charms from, so make sure you don't miss that.

There's also the Lucky Snaps promo at the Araneta City which you can join via Instagram. Just use the hashtags #LuckySnapsAtTheCityOfFirsts and two winners could get home buffet GC's from Novotel Manila Araneta City, wouldn't that be a good way to start your year?

Aside from that, if you buy stuff from Araneta City establishments worth 2K (single receipt) you can stand the chance to win a Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air if you draw a lucky Angpao from their Mall concierge. That's from January 24 to February 1 so make sure to be there on these dates. There's also a personal shopper service if you can't go out of your homes, just visit the Ask Ara FB page and you'll get free deliveries too from 10am to 5:30pm (within Metro Manila). Health protocols will be followed so make sure to bring your vaccination cards to present at these malls, and follow protocols set by the government. It'll be safe, just be vigilant and follow protocols okay?

Perfect Time to Watch and Dine at Gateway Mall and Pizza Hut!

Thursday, December 23, 2021

It's the holidays and since it's also local movie season, I've managed to watch 2 MMFF entries at the Gateway Cineplex 10 just last week. It was surreal to actually go back to the cinemas and they made it also safe, which was so reassuring and the follow all protocols to a T. The city of firsts is actually going to make your movie watching experience even better til February, see they're launching 2 things if you're fond of dining out and watching a movie, either way, you'll benefit from this... sounds fun right?

First, you can get Php 100 off on your movie ticket purchase if you order Php 1000 worth of food from Pizza Hut. According to the fine print, you have to do it on the smae day so go and present your Pizza Hut recipe and get 2 tickets to get that discount.

If you prefer the other promo, you can get a whopping 20% OFF on Large Pan and Stuffed Crust Pizzas for every purchase of a movie ticket from the Gateway Cineplex 10. Since it's still not allowed to eat inside cinemas (because of government regulations and safety rules by IATF), you can keep your tickets right after the screening and dine in or take out pizzas so you can talk about the movie afterwards. That's huge savings especially if you're out on a date. Pretty good deal no?

If you wanna know more about it, go to Araneta City's channels gatewaycineplex10.com or pizzahut.com.ph when you're hungry! Go take a break at Araneta City, watch a movie, dine in and have fun with your family!

Summer Lovin With J.CO's White Choco Frappes!

Thursday, April 30, 2015

Visited J.CO in the Shopwise Cubao branch in Quezon City. I think it's the nearest one in my place and I miss it quite a lot. I used to have their donuts quite often and I'm not aaaaaaaaaaaareally choosy. Whatever they have on the counter, I can take it, especially the J.Club Cheezy Rich which I adore. My folks on the other hand dig the Al Capone, a pretty popular one with most J.CO patrons.

JCO DONUTS

I think it's a little bigger now than when I first came to this store. I frequent the one in Eastwood City which I think is still their biggest one by far. I also dig their coffees so if I have a lot of time in my hands, I usually take a couple of hours and put my self in one of their comfy seats just to relax, listen to their mood music, and perhaps finish an article or two.

JCO DONUTS

Since it's summer I opted for something frozen. There's something new in their J.COFFE section called White Choco Frappe. You can ask for it from your favorite J.CO barista and tell them how you want it. The White Choco Frappe would be the perfect drink for those who love Vanilla and White Chocolate as these are their ingredients. This thing is fused with Vanilla and mixed with white chocolate sauce and sprinkled with some white chocolate chunks and shavings. If you were braving the streets of Manila the whole day, taking a break at J.CO would be something that could extinguish the almost 40 degree weather. Enough of those hot things, it'll just make you perspire more.

After a few hours, I was getting a little sleepy. Although I needed coffee in my system, I didn't want hot ones, instead I ordered their new White Choco Espresso Frappe, which almost had the same ingredients with the earlier one but with the exception of a shot of espresso in it. They suggested that I also take this in with the Don Mochino, it's one of J.CO's best selling donuts that's got dark chocolate outside and a cream filling.

JCO DONUTS

I think the next good thing to do is to come and visit the nearest J.CO branch nearest you. There's a couple more in Makati, Mandaluyong, Eastwood City, and the whole of Metro Manila (Even SM Malls have them!). You'll be glad to see them offer these two drinks that's available in stores until May 31st! Take a sip, relax and enjoy the summer with these new flavors from J.CO donuts and J.COFFEE. Visit their website www.jcodonuts.com for their latest offerings.

Bianca Umali Celebrates With Street Kids in "Art In Island"

Sunday, March 29, 2015

We met a beautiful Bianca Umali a few days ago. We celebrated her birthday at the new "Art In Island" 3D Art Museum in Cubao, Quezon City. I didn't know it was just behind Bellinis and the old Cubao Expo. I believe this place is owned by Koreans and some artists from their country went here and made everything. I think this one is the biggest in the country and perhaps one of the biggest in the world too. Bianca Umali's guests were from "Kaisahan ng Buhay Foundation" which caters to street kids and aims to have every child be cared for by a family. Their priorities lie in Family Preservation, Family Reunification and their Permanent Placement.

Bianca is still in "Once Upon a Kiss" opposite Miguel Tanfelix. They're very close right now and even on the eve of Bianca's birthday, Miguel was actually there to celebrate with her and her family. A simple dinner ensued but it's these things that Bianca feels so special. She also got a gift from Miguel which she'll tell on this video interview. I apologize for some of the questions I'm asking, I haven't had coffee yet during this time haha! She'll also tell you about the Eat Bulaga Lenten special she'll be doing with THE Marian Rivera and directed by Bb. Joyce Bernal.

Aside from that, Bianca also toured the kids inside the museum. It was fun because even I was amazed at the place's murals! I would highly suggest you come here with your friends and family. I think it costs around 500 for the entrance, they also will ask you to take off your shoes while you're there. Super recommended for kids who have really good imagination!

We also met Ms. Jennylyn Mercado. The little kid in the orange shirt is Jenny's son.

Bianca had so much fun with the kids, especially on the super big murals in the center of Art In Island.

Bianca also shared her blessings, together with GMA Artist Center, Art In Island, Zagu, Ellips Cologne, BUM, Aquabest and Zanea shoes. Kids and their guardians went home super happy that they get to see Bianca in the flesh, plus some goodies to take home too to their family and friends. Such a generous heart, super humble, she's really bound to be successful in this industry. I hope her wishes do come true! Happy birthday dear!

Philippine History Seen in SININGSAYSAY

Wednesday, March 04, 2015

This day is just beginning but my blogger friends and I gladly got schooled in history. An art exhibit entitled "SININGSAYSAY" (Philippine Historical Art) has been put up at the 5th Floor of Gateway Mall in Quezon City so people and groups would be able to connect art with history and how they would be able to show their work with the greater public.

Some facts we learned today:

- We have petroglyphs in the caves of Angono. Before writing, we did have ways to communicate already.

- The oldest image in the Philippines is Sto. Niño de Cebu.

- Manila if said in most history books is just the walled city, not the whole thing we know today.

There's a lot more but of course you have to be there to see and experience it!

We spoke to one of the artists named Pablo Baen Santos, he says "I wanted to show historical facts, important issues but not too much to make it aesthetically pleasing. This is to draw attention, memory recall and reference. You can't be tied down to details. I'm more mandated to create a beautiful artwork first before history though. I'm an eyewitness since I wrote for Taliba ng Bayan which is an underground newspaper, but had limited copies because they used mimmiographs back then. We had to move constantly if there's surveilance being felt and distribute the stencil so it wouldn't be hampered. It took me 2-3 years to make this. The UPAA and Aranetas commissioned us and we talked about what we had to do and it was easy to do but I had other paintings to do at that time, so it took that long."

Now I am from Quezon City don't get me wrong, but just like most of you I haven't seen this wing of Gateway Mall yet. The way there is almost as wonderful as this exhibit too because there's an artificial roof garden and topiary which would be pretty cool for kids and lovers who would want to have a quiet place all for themselves. Although announcing this might make that place more populated, I think people wouldn't be going there too much. The time to enjoy the place is now.

Aside from that, the phenomenal artwork displayed currently at the Gateway's 5th floor tells us about the generations of history the Philippines has. If you've got visitors from other countries, you can tell them about the Philippines even in a short amount of time. I must also say you should see the Randy T. Solon work which I personally like, and the one by Jonahmar Salvosa who did the Galleon Trade in different textures, plus the one done by Bencab in the same place. These pieces are currently in Gateway only for a short amount of time and will be transferred once UPAA has establishe their own home in UP grounds for the artworks.

Please visit SININGSAYSAY at the Gateway Tower's 5th Floor (Gateway Gallery). You can use the entrance at the Gateway Mall and the one at the Gateway Tower, just ask the concierge so you can visit them from 11AM to 7PM everyday.

i❤milktea Opens New Branch At Riverbanks Mall in Marikina!

Thursday, April 11, 2013

It's so HOT. Everywhere you go it's around 36 degrees and you can't hide from the sun at all. People usually stay in malls and enjoy free air conditioning while I sit in my room with the thing on full blast so I won't feel the blistering heat of the sun. I would have loved that when its in Boracay but this one isn't be the same. You need something to extinguish that heat by heading over to i❤milktea in Riverbanks Mall in Marikina. Now that's the perfect thing to have in this part of the metro!

photo(1)

I was there when they opened and immediately had my favorites. The best sellers were evidently ordered a lot (it figures) but there are some items on the menu that you and your friends would enjoy, check this and see what I'm talking about!

I ordered this for starters. This is their Wintermelon Milk Tea with Caramel Konjac Jelly. What is different about i❤milktea is that you get to choose 1 Free topping. The Caramel Konjac Jelly was chewy just the way I like it and you really can taste that sweet caramel flavor that its supposed to have. Pretty neat that they've got other things aside from this for toppings. We just got to have more!

The City of Stars, Coke and the Araneta Center Tree Lighting Ceremonies

Sunday, November 14, 2010

I've been in Quezon City my entire life and part of the perks of being in this neighborhood is that you get to do a lot of things to entertain yourself when you're a kid. This after all is the city of stars. If you ask me what do you do to start the Christmas season here, that's easy! Just go to the Cubao - Araneta Center area and you'll find what you are looking for! It's huge and you won't miss it, it's the giant Christmas tree!

This has been a tradition and from the looks of it, Coca Cola promised to sponsor this event every year because they know how important this season is for every Filipino family. Sharing good times together wouldn't be also complete without that ice cold Coke on the Lunch/Dinner table. The crisp. spine tingling feeling we all have been enjoying for generations just got better too because now we have Coke Zero! Zero sugar with the same awesome Coke taste we love. It's definitely my personal favorite!

This tree is special because every year there's a corresponding tree lighting ceremony that comes with it. This event is adorned by stars put together by the people at Araneta Center and Coke. Regardless of what network they came from they all go here for one thing alone, it is to entertain the same people that made them famous and spread the holiday cheers. I always go to this place and get my fix of the COD mannequin stories until that transferred to Greenhills but I still watched this particular event. I love my city, Cubao, the Araneta's (who are by the way far relatives), Araneta Center and Coca Cola. My Christmas celebration wouldn't be complete without them!

Here are some shots I got from the event! Please enjoy!

See what I mean about this being the City of Stars? There were a lot more celebrities actually including Binibining Pilipinas winners. This is just one awesome night! It would be nice to see you all there next year too! Thanks Coke! Thank you also Araneta Center! You never cease to amaze me every year!
