CINDYS Raring To Expand Business on their 50th Year!

Monday, October 24, 2022

My memories of Cindys has always been awesome. With their foray into the fast food market (largely popular in the 80's), they've captured the hearts of Filipinos nationwide. I remember eating Chicken Barbecue and Palabok when Mom took me in Cubao when I was a kid. They've slowly gone in the shadows, but nope, contrary to rumors, they were never gone or closed business. They've concentrated their business in their core strength, their bakery and restaurant business which started in Tarlac City in 1972. Actually, I went there and I took home a lot of products home with me for pasalubong.

Yes folks, they are celebrating their 50th Year Anniversary! They made us feel we're part of the celebrations a few days ago, and memories came crashing back to me. This time, they're call is to "Savor Great Moments" as they begin expanding this year with branches in Luzon, Metro Manila .

I am so happy they're donning the new look and I hope I would see them near my hood so I could enjoy the good baked and savory products served at their restaurant again. They may have been in the business for half a century, but they're just starting to put a foothold on the new market with these well loved items. If you're in Manila, they have one in Blumentritt and Karuhatan in Valenzuela City. You may visit their site CindysBakery.com and Facebook.com/CindysBakeryRestaurant if you want to know more where you can get those lovely ensaymadas, brownies and Taisan which I enjoyed last week.

Here's a toast to a classic, congratulations to Cindys on your 50th year!

Chocful Solution for the Summer Heat from Jollibee

Sunday, April 24, 2022

It's so hot outside you could fry an egg on top of cars these days. Mind you, it's almost rainy season but we're sweating buckets even in the evenings. Well don't fret, there's always a cool reason to enjoy this hot weather from our friends at Jollibee. They aptly call it Jollibee Summer Floats... and I've actually tried some of it already.

The soda based Coke Float and Royal Float have all been a favorite. I like sweet endings in meals so I order a couple for me and my family. Thing is, they've got a new one offered this season to keep you refreshed, it's the new JOLLIBEE CHOCO FLOAT! It's iced chocolate drink topped with vanilla soft serve ice cream which can make your drink creamier, a bit sweeter.

It's also easy to get them via the Jollibee Delivery App, their website JollibeeDelivery.com or dial #87000. They are also available in delivery apps Grab and Foodpanda, so if you're looking for relief from the scorching heat, this would be good! Healthy Mediterranean Choices at Shakey's

Thursday, March 03, 2016

The Philippines is about to turn healthy this decade and restaurants should definitely think of adding choices to their menu. Good thing Shakey's is doing that with the recent addition of several meals that weight watchers and health freaks would gladly celebrate about. Imagine, there's no meat in these dishes and it's pretty cool that it would also coincide before the holy week too. The one above is their Mediterranean Tuna Pasta. It's got greens, tomatoes, bell peppers, olives and chunks of lovely healthy tuna on top of imported feta cheese. It's not only healthy, but really guilt free, because I said so LOL!

This one's their Grilled Vegetable Pizza. It's got Caramelized Onions, garlic, Zucchini, roasted eggplant and peppers. Yes, you're hearing that right, it doesn't have meat at all. They also have the Greek Salad that's got lettuce, peppers, tomatoes, olives, salami, feta cheese, every thing fresh meant for your table. Now more than ever, Shakey's is bringing all these flavors if you dine in, take out or have it delivered into your homes too. It's not that expensive either so if you would like it light but filling, you would definitely have choices in their store.

The Mediterranean Tuna pasta costs Php195 while the others are only Php 220. Make sure you visit them today in all Shakey's branches nationwide! Don't add salt unless you see the need to. It's time for a Shakey's!

#CrackThat Greenwich Pizza With Elmo Magalona

Saturday, July 26, 2014

We went to Greenwich Pizza a couple of days ago in their SM North Edsa branch. We were there to discover another innovation in Pizza courtesy of the good people from Greenwich. The thin crust pizza just got even better as they laid out the best crust that you can hear cracking right from the moment you take a bite making this a whole new #CrackThat experience that only they can deliver. The thinner crust was a welcome development as they'll still have the same good toppings on it too.

Lulu De Castro Senior Marketing Manager for Brand Development in Greenwich says "The thin crust pizza that everyone loves just got better with this #CrackThat campaign, now we can say that we have everything that a Pinoy Pizza lover can ask for".

Ms. Cel Javalosa Brand Manager for Pizzas says "We only want to amplify the difference of our pizza and prove why it's number one in the market, this is why we've come out with the best crust that cracks right from the moment you bite off the pizza.... you can't find that anywhere else in the Philippines". Aside from that, they also announced their newest endorser!

Free Pizza on Greenwich Pizza Thins #CrackThat Day

Monday, July 07, 2014

Well, I haven't been able to see it but I'm planning to order one real soon. Apparently, while I was in Boracay my folks ate it all right after it got delivered at home (I didn't even get to have a photo of it!). The only thing I heard from them over skype was "It was so crunchy!"... so that's why they used the #CrackThat tagline on it. Amazing!

With the multitude of toppings to choose from, Greenwich brings you the "Thin Crust Pizza" experience to a whole different level. They've improved the Filipino favorite and made it even better by making it extra crispy, tasty, cheesy and meaty in every pizza slice! If you haven't decided what lunch, merienda or dinner is yet, make it a Greenwich pizza and stay at home this rainy day. If you are going out, Greenwich's #CrackThat day will be on July 16, 2014. Just go to select Greenwich Pizza branches nationwide and take a load of 10,000 boxes of PIZZA THINS! No joke! First 100 customers in these stores and pop up booths will enjoy this great treat!

Make sure you visit and like their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/greenwichpizza to get to know when and where they'll be doing this! #CrackThat Day is only brought to you by that Crispier, Tastier and Meatier Greenwich Pizza Thins! :)

Why Is It So Good To Be Filipino?

Tuesday, June 10, 2014

 photo DSC_0033.jpg

I love being Filipino. I like growing up in a democratic country. I even like the fact that no matter how poor the country is, we all remain happy and resilient. I love the use of "po" and "opo" to show respect to elders. I love our family ties and how close this unit is plus our extended families. I love how much value we put to our loved ones and make them a priority above everyone else. I love how in times of trouble, we still think of others and do what we can to help them no matter how big or small that is.

 photo DSC_0066.jpg

I love how predominantly Catholic our country is and what good traits we seem to have gotten with the religious belief. I love how we make God the center of everything and call to him in times of need, to ultimately... never lose hope. I also love how we have basketball courts in every street, even the NBA gets amazed by that.

 photo DSC_0140.jpg

I love how free we are to listen and create music without any government stopping us or filtering our words for that matter. I love how we appreciate the smallest things, from sipping nectar off a santan flower, to fighting with spiders, to flipping cards and making bubbles with hibiscus flowers. I love how we can always play outside and never care how haggard we get when we were still kids. I love our we all made the "mall culture" when so many of us spend time there to enjoy shopping or just getting air conditioned.

 photo DSC_0025.jpg

I love how we can easily adapt with other cultures, our ability to understand and speak English and encompass language barriers because of our innate characteristic of being nice and welcoming. I love the fact that we are all connected, from Facebook, Twitter or Instagram we are one of the worlds largest in terms of social network activity. We even held the number 1 spot in 2011. I love that we have a LOT of beauty queens. Just look around you, look how beautiful our Filipinas are. I love how we inherited a glorious past, where heroes abound every province and city depicting how they all made sacrifices for the three stars and the sun. I love being a Filipino, there are a million reasons why. Have you asked yourself that question lately? You should watch this!

Anna and Marcus already showed you how good it is to be Filipino. I'd like to enjoin YOU and the WHOLE NATION to answer this question on your social media channels... Now tell us...

Bakit ang #SarapMagingPilipino ?

The Goodness That Is WHAM! Burgers

Saturday, May 10, 2014

This place is made of legends. You often hear Pak, Boom, Pow, Kablag every time an action sequence happens in comic strips. Here, you only hear one name and it's a lovely thing to see once it comes out of the kitchen and laid on your table. This is WHAM! Burgers.

The Interiors

It's a burger joint and the theme they were gunning for was whimsical and should stick to the comic strip thing they started with the name of the establishment.

The red, white and yellow palette presents a more energetic vibe in the restaurant. They also made it simple with a few tables and chairs to maximize the small space.

The place gets packed on lunch and dinner hours much like other establishments in the area. It is advisable to go before those hours.

The place also has a small second floor which can sit around 8 or 10 people and the comfort room. It's a little claustrophobic in some standards but they've added mirrors to give you a full view feel. That was a nice touch considering how small this is.

Service is good. They don't have that much lines because taking and serving your orders takes a short amount of time. You have the crew to thank for that. They also have a very simple menu so understanding what you're getting won't be a problem. Condiments are complete and if you prefer a refreshing glass of pineapple juice with your burger, they have that as well.

The Food

The good is in the burger and WHAM!'s got that already in the pocket. It's the same reason why they've expanded to several stores in Manila. Later on, they decided to close some of it and concentrate on those which have higher foot traffic which proved very beneficial to the company. I am a fan of their branch in Katipunan and have been going there every now and then. The SM Mall of Asia's branch is bigger and I think they have more choices now than the last time I saw their menu.

This is The Slider Trio. If you come to a point where you don't know what to order once you go inside the store, then this is definitely a thing to consider. Think about three burgers, best sellers Wham Burger, Wham Burger with Cheese, then Bacon Burger. It's served in bigger than the usual slider sizes giving you a sampler of everything that is to experience in WHAM!... it's a good deal pegged at Php 250 only and taste wise, you can't say the difference between getting the actual burger and these guys. Get this if you think you can't finish the bigger ones and get to taste them all in one order! :)

This is The Whammer. Imagine a think 1/3 pound patty topped with cheese, crispy bacon, crispy onion shards, tomatoes, lettuce, ketchup and mustard. The crisp onion make this a good show of texture and makes it different from the ordinary burger. Pretty good.

To go with your favorite burgers, they have mean fries, wedges and onion rings that are so good. I specifically ordered more of the onion rings because theirs is sweet, something that I never knew would be found in this joint. Order this if you're in Mall of Asia.

This one's their Bronco Burger. They don't have MSG on their burgers and only use salt and pepper. You can really taste the beef content, like an 80% lean beef - 20% fat ratio is happening in every patty. I love the char grilled taste too and this one's like their barbecue burger with the exception of the crispy bacon below it. Pretty good in my standards. The serving is huge so it's all worth it.

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Kapow. It does pack a punch. If you fancy mexican food and fond of things that are spicy then this is it. It tastes a lot like a burrito but of course it is a burger. The relish, the jalapeno peppers gives it a very spicy kick. I love this the most among their burgers, you should order this if you're a little adventurous because it'll definitely match your personality. Drink lots of water or soda right after as it's extremely hot!

You think it wouldn't work but it did. This is their Spaghetti Fries! It's got that oh so awesome Filipino sweet style spaghetti sauce that children would surely love plus shards of crispy fries topped with melted cheese. You think it's weird but no, it was something off the charts for some of the people I was with because they finished this in minutes. They didn't let go dipping each piece in the spaghetti sauce even if it was quite filling. If you want your kids to be busy and full in a short amount of time, please order one of this and they'll love it as much as I do. :)

The place is nice, prolly good for your man and kids. Their servings are big and the price point ain't bad at all. Try the Spaghetti Fries and Slider Trio for a more value for money treat. Else, you can get the major burger varieties that WHAM! has. It was worth the trip down south. Pretty good people, place and burgers. That is goodness... that is  WHAM! Burgers!
