That Nordic Spirit Flavor City Party was Epic!

Tuesday, October 07, 2025

I've been partying non-stop and gracing different clubs every weekend for years now. While I'm still in the mood for it, some of my peers are all trying to embrace family life and adulting, which is not a bad idea. I on the other hand have not stopped, and I am so glad about it. It brings me endorphins, and I love it.

I was invited a little over a week ago to Nordic Spirit's Flavor City party at the POP UP place in Katipunan Avenue. They're a brand of t0bacco free nic0tine pouches that are designed for no fuss, very discreet use. I used to sm0ke occasionally but stopped cold turkey about a decade ago and things like these weren't available in the PH market. It's a Swedish brand and available in different flavors like Fresh Frost, Lush Red, Lush Crimson, and Green Frost. It's used by tucking under the lip, left or right side cheek and could last you around 40mins. They didn't encourage using it but I did, and I think it's a pretty good alternative. They also had several booths and activities to try out, so it was fun to see all that happen.

Anyway, the party was sick because Denise Julia and Sam Concepcion performed on stage. Crowd was quite young but their music was universal. I loved what they dished out including the DJ who was there til the wee hours of the morning. Thanks for the epic party Nordic Spirit!

Check Out These New Products at POTATO CORNER

Thursday, November 30, 2023

The last time I was able to go to a Potato Corner branch was yesterday at Mall of Asia. The line was super long, not just because of the well loved French Fries and all it's flavors, but because YES, there's something new at our well loved potato brand!

These are new combos called Snack mix. Your well loved Potato Corner Flavored Fries now have a few things served with them. One is the new Corn Dog. If you've loved them at fairs and carnivals, you can get them anytime of the day at Potato Corner branches nationwide. It's golden brown and crunchy on the outside, but quite soft in the inside. It's also got a beef hotdog inside for some protein fix, it's quite filling, so don't give up on those fun afternoons in your neighborhood or the malls because there's lots more things to celebrate with Potato Corner.

They also have Super Chicken Pop, which they introduced during the pandemic (2020), good ol chicken nuggets with special crunchy breading, served hot and sprinkled with Potato Corner flavors. You can mix them up, pair one with the other, and it's quite convenient to carry around to let other people envy you (I'm sure you've experienced that! Ha!). You can get them today (started November 23rd), so if you're lovin them fries, there's more reason to snack on them even more!

Angel's Pizza Releases New CREAMY SPINACH SUSHI BAKE Pizza

Friday, June 02, 2023

I personally want my pizza to be delivered hot and fast, and one of my go to brands is Angel's Pizza. I often order the CREAMY SPINACH Pizza, but I heard, they've got something up their sleeves. In their quest to provide customers with variety and urge to have something in their menu that is very different, they now have the new CREAMY SPINACH SUSHI BAKE Pizza available in their stores this coming June 5

The new Creamy Spinach Sushi Bake Pizza is actually good, I love how extra spicy it is (probably because of the Sriracha, so no need for hot sauce) which would be best for those who are adventurous and looking for something different. It's very savory, there's a lot of umami flavor because of the kani and dried seaweed on top. There's a little creamy spinach flavor, but it's just a hint, so as you can really taste that Sushi Bake flavor that makes this different from their best seller.

Chef Arvin Antonio who is part of the Research and Development for Figaro Group says "Our goal is to make sure our customers have choices. This is why we have to do the work and find ways to create more items on the menu. We got inspired to create new flavors, but never forget to ensure quality and make it affordable. During the pandemic, a lot of people fell in love with the Sushi Bake, which is why we combined it with our favorite pizza flavor. We plan to cater items in it for kids and adults, so stay tuned for more!"

Mr. Ace Azarraga the Brand and Partnership Director for the Figaro Group adds "As we grow Angel's Pizza and put some more in different locations, trust in us that we will continue to innovate in our pizzas, pastas and different menu items in each store. Thank you for continuing to support our brand and those that are in the Figaro group. We hope you enjoy our new Creamy Spinach Sushi Bake Pizza and bring some home for your family, friends and loved ones."

Make sure you also order their Spaghetti, which I'm sure kids will absolutely love (I actually had a lot of it and forgot to take a photo LOL). They also have Honey Butter Chicken and Carbonara so don't be sad if you're not into pizzas.

Again, if you're looking for variety, take time to look at Angel's Pizza and their better than ever menu. They will continue to make changes in the coming months, and come out with more. Make your voice heard and suggest pizza flavors while you're at it. Their customer service and social channels are pretty active, so make sure you follow them there too! You can order it starting June 5, remember that!

Thanks for letting us have first dibs on the new pizza! Thank you Angel's Pizza!

Ginebra Introduces Myrtle Sarrosa as New GSM Calendar Girl 2018

Friday, November 10, 2017

It's that time of the year where popular brand Ginebra San Miguel announces their much awaited Calendar Girl. Last year we were at the edge of our seats with vixen Kim Domingo. Now they're going a bit more millenial with PBB alumni and cosplayer extraordinaire Myrtle Sarrosa. Judging by the looks of it, I think the shots were done by cosplay photographer Jay Tablante. These characters are all original.

We had our first calendar girl in 1988 and some super angels in the 80's. We hope before that announcement, you get to enjoy the Ginebra San Miguel concoctions as we go on with the program. - Noli Macalalag, the GM of Ginebra San Miguel

Ron Jay Molina the Marketing Manager of Ginebra San Miguel says "We are celebrating a lot of things, new things, fresh ones, even the millenials. I want you to discover three things we'll reveal tonight. One is where a calendar is involved, the heavens, and even 7-11. Thank you to our dealers, the marketing team, our friends from media and the internet. Please sit back relax and enjoy a GSM Blue."

Then they unveiled three things:

Let the epic MIX begin!

First up is the Calendar Girl for 2018 and she came down like a ball of fire.

Then they showed Myrtle Sarrosa's 5 calendar designs.

One is the Iconic Angel costume, the cyber chick for GSM Blue, the Illusionist for Primera Light Brandy, Forest Enchantress for Vino Kulafu, and the Lady Boss to represent it all.

Then for GSM Blue, they are targetting the millenials. This generation is unique, they demand so much more out of life, more adventure, it's about mixing it, to make it fresh, new flavors that would make life a little more exciting. They are launching #MixForMore. Myrtle Sarrosa invites you all to celebrate life because YOLO! These are the new epix mixes GSM BLUE MARGARITA which you just need to chill and serve to your friends, and the second one is the GSM BLUE GIN POMELO, a favorite among Filipinos now made easier. Still, all you need to do is just chill, and serve. That easy.

These three announcements would be something that now millenials will relate to. So now you've got things easy, you have her to see on calendars the whole 2018, you have these drinks available tomorrow November 8 in all 7-11 stores nationwide!

The New Magnum Red Velvet

Wednesday, April 05, 2017

I can't believe my eyes. I must be seeing things. Two of my most favorite desserts just got into one good, delightful, a little sinful ice cream bar. Yes, the newest flavor that they've come up with is the MAGNUM Red Velvet.

It's like thick ice cream with the flavor of red velvet cake, a little tangy and sweet with super moist cream cheese notes. Then if that's not enough, they pour a rich milky white chocolate outer shell that cracks when you bite into it.

Here's some excerpts from the launch:

If you haven't tasted it yet, you're missing a lot! Go ahead and grab them all, together with the white almond and other flavors that MAGNUM has in groceries, stores and shops nationwide!

It's really GOOD!

Authentic Oriental Flavors with Kikkoman Soy Sauce

Saturday, April 23, 2016

We went back to 25 Mushrooms Kitchen with Chef Margaret Santos to make authentic oriental flavors with Kikkoman Soy Sauce. We can see the difference now as the Kikkoman Soy Sauce is reddish brown.

The chemically created soy sauce is darker, it also sticks to the chopsticks and is very salty. Kikkoman is light, sweet and appetizing. It's not processed and you can feel it smoothly unlike the heavy ones in the market. Taste wise, Kikkoman tastes the best!

Soybean, wheat, water and salt. They make this the natural way in Japan and you can't really get that quality distinct taste anywhere else like Kikkoman does. It's pasteurized and gone through quality tests because it is from Japan.

Here's a video I made before the event started.

We have three recipes today so we started by doing a Sushi platter. With Uni, Ebi, Tuna and Salmon, we were bound to make a beautiful dishes this afternoon!

We used Sashimi Grade tuna and salmon plus lovely Kani and shrimp if you're into that.

Making the rice is important because it will make or break your dish. Remember to use Japanese rice and in the ratio of 1: 1and 1/4 cup. You can make this in your rice cooker so it doesn't take a genius to do that. We cut the tuna, put the spices and Japanese mayo for the Spicy Tuna.

Tuna or any other seafood should always be cold. Add hot sauce or Togarashi powder for more added kick! Use your hands to firmly pack the rice, more than your usual sushi, do the same on Uni. Put in a cut Nori Wrapper on the sides so it would be like a basin for your spicy tuna.

Do the same on the other rolls, just make sure it's bite sized, and finish it in one or two bites. That'll be enough to feed you the whole day. If it doesn't stick, just put water and you'll be fine.

I'm so good at this hahahaha!

Then we made Pork Tonkatsu too!

We pound the meat first, then put it in Flour, Egg and Breadcrumbs.

Then fry it in oil for about 3-5 minutes or until golden brown.

Now you have Pork Tonkatsu! Now let's make the sauce!

Making Dashi first by dissolving the powder on the boiling water. This is your stock. A little oil, onions, mushrooms, leeks (green and white part), then set it aside. Pour the teriyaki sauce in the dashi, eyeball it, put a little sugar, then put the pork in. Put in your egg then wait for it to cook. When the egg gets cooked, slide it on your rice and enjoy!

It was still crunchy on the sides and the flavor really seeped in. Must try this at home.

Then we also prepared Sukiyaki. It's that sweet soup commonly found in Japanese Restaurants. You've got veggies, rice noodle, beef and egg. You just combine ingredients, make the soup to taste and voila! You've got your lovely Sukiyaki in minutes!

I love it! It's sweet and not too salty. It was heaven in a bowl. I want to cook this at home too. :)

Now have you already cooked something for your family lately? Maybe it's time you get Kikkoman Soy Sauce and Kikkoman Teriyaki Sauce today and make that kitchen masterpiece a reality today!

P.S. They even made us desserts by using two heaping scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream and drops of Kikkoman Soy Sauce. Apparently, it works!

By the way, I'll be giving away a few cooking classes so you guys get the chance to cook too. Stay tuned on my Instagram account @kumagcow and tell me about your favorite dish!

You'll Go Loco for St. Marc Cafe's Choco Cro

Friday, March 25, 2016

So what do you think is better than receiving a box of St. Marc Cafe's Choco Cro's? It's when you get 2 boxes of St. Marc Cafe's Choco Cros.

I was smiling ear to ear when this arrived on my doorstep last week. I remembered how much I loved the original chocolate filled one, which I buy in boxes by the way and give them to my friends and relatives if I go out of town. Thing is, it's closer to home now and people don't need to go to Japan to get these goodies. Aside from that good news, they just released a new flavor! Yeap, you heard that right. I also said to my self "OMG What?!".

The Choco Cro evolved to something great. That same flaky, buttery layered puff pastry got a whole new life when they got black sesame as the main ingredient of their filling. That same dark, nutty, roasted flavor I get in oriental dessert viands just got hooked up with St. Marc Cafe's Choco Cro, I hear my mind saying "Why didn't I think of that?!".

Inside the box, they already come in this individually wrapped papers so you don't need to fuss about plates or forks when you don't have that at hand. You can easily carry it around the office when you want to eat it on your table (not that I'm saying it's the right thing to do) but really, this and coffee? Doesn't that sound so right?

The thing is, the perfection of this Dark Sesame version of the Choco Cro doesn't stop on the first day. If you can really control yourself not to finish the whole box in one sitting (I totally lack self control in that department), you can actually heat this up the next day and it'll still be so good just the way you got it on the first day. My mind was trying not to think about the boxes in the refrigerator the next morning but when I wanted more of it the next day, I got them off the sleeves and put them in one plate. I just put it in on the lowest setting of my microwave oven and let it rip for a good 2 minutes. You can set it to super high and have it for a minute (but be careful as it might be too hot!). You can also try to do it on your best toaster oven but I find it to burn the exterior so much so I wouldn't really recommend that.

St. Marc Cafe has branches in SM Megamall, Greenbelt 3 in Makati, UP Town Center in Diliman, SM City North EDSA, and Robinsons Place in Ermita, Manila. There's usually a line when you go to these shops and I would advise you order a thing or two of their best desserts while you're waiting in line. They're known for the Choco Cro but these new additions to their menu just made my mouth water. If you haven't tasted it yet, maybe this time's a good one to brave the trip to the mall and look for them there!

I'm sure I will.
