Authentic German Club OKTOBERFEST Happens at Solaire North!

Wednesday, October 16, 2024

I've been going to the German Club Manila's celebration for years now, and this time, Solaire Resort and the German Club Manila is hosting OKTOBERFEST celebrations at the Grand Ballroom of Solaire North this coming October 19th and 20. Solaire Resort North is pretty new, and they plan to put out the best of the best German dishes and the finest brews from Weihenstephaner, the official one for Oktoberfest. Music as tradition requires will be done by the folks from Bavarian Sound Express, and I know they'll be doing it all night at the venue. For sure, you're going to have to dance a bit, and do more later on in the evening of the 19th.

Meanwhile, if you're up for some real family fun, Oktoberfest for you at Solaire North will be absolutely awesome with a ton of activities designed for kids like the Bouncy Castle, German Costume Photo Booths, Face Painting Sessions, and Carnival Games at the hotel. Oktoberfest will also be overloaded with discount stays of over 20 percent (their Bed and Breakfast Rate on the 18th to 20th) that includes buffet breakfast at their signature restaurant FRESH.

At Oktoberfest, expect tons of breads, pretzels, Obatzda, Wiesen jause, Munchner Wurstsalat, Kartoffelsalat and German potato salad. I love my Rostbratwurst, Frankfurters, Goulash, Apple Strudel, and more! If you're raring to go, get your tickets now at Oktoberfest.ph to make sure your kind of Oktoberfest is authentic, and do it as the Germans do in the heart of Quezon City. I've seen it, done it, and I'm going back there for more on this weekend! You should too, take a well deserved break that is THIS fun!

See you there!

81st Oktoberfest at the Solaire Tent

Wednesday, September 04, 2019

Had another wonderful taste of Oktoberfest once again at the Solaire Tent in ParaƱaque City this morning. This is officially their 81st year of doing this and yes, it's just becoming bigger and bigger.

The German Club Manila happily shared how they have been able to break records in the number of crowds and liters of beer, German sausages consumed every year and 2019 should be no different. This year they are doing it in three days on October 17, 18 and 19. It is expected to be full so make sure you wear those lederhosen trousers and fancy dirndls because this is the authentic one, it comes with a full Bavarian band called Bavarian Sound Express (OMG I miss the 99 Luft Balloons medley)!

The desserts like the classic strudel and Kaiserschmarnn have to be noted because it just was heavenly with the cream and vanilla ice cream.

I heard they are prepping about 4-5 liters of Weihenstephan per person so there won't be shortchanging on the beer supply. You can book tickets via Oktoberfest.ph and purchase them online.

The event was graced by the current German Club President Tobias Rast, Solaire VP for F&B Knit Becker and VP for Culinary Michael Dinges. The first photo above was the yearly dance we had to do before the start of festivities, it's a great way to break the ice and celebrate Oktoberfest like how the Bavarians do.

Call the German Club via 8942899 or 8184236 because this is going to be the biggest authentic German Oktoberfest in Manila, and you wouldn't want to miss this for the world! They will also have separate raffle draws including trips to Europe. Not even joking!

Raise your glass and say Prost!

Say "Ein Prost!" At The 78th Oktoberfest At Sofitel Manila

Tuesday, September 13, 2016

Gentlemen from The German Club Philippines and GM of Sofitel Manila Mr. Adam Laker (in suit).

There's no party when you're alone, but when you party with about 200 people merrymaking on top of tables and chairs with tons of food and beer, that's what you call OKTOBERFEST!

The German Club is celebrating their 78th Oktoberfest in Sofitel Manila and the most authentic one at that. In Munich, at 12 PM of the first Saturday of October, they start a ceremonial toast and they give the first pint to the Prime Minister of Bavaria. They did it too in Sofitel to start the ceremonies.

Sofitel's GM Adam Laker promises Germans and Filipinos will enjoy a full Bavarian Menu, tons of Sausages and Pork Knuckles, the best Saurkraut and each year it gets better. Different games, parties, it's also the people that gets this a larger crowd each year. No leather pants required but of course it's optional!

I even joined a game with contestants from the German community and press people, I won. I won last 2014 and didn't join 2015 (because I was too shy LOL), but it's good I got this one in the bag!
Fellow bloggers, writers from Manila's best magazines and influencers are all in attendance. I was already tipsy at this time from chugging a whole liter of beer for the Philippines haha!
This year's OKTOBERFEST will happen at Sofitel Manila's Harbor Tent on October 7 and 8! This is their 78th Year which only shows this has been a LONG tradition. You may book your tickets via email at reservations@germanclub.ph. You can also call (02) 894 2899. I assure you, this is one of the best parties, a legit Oktoberfest at that. Dance, drink all evening, enjoy the best Bavarian dishes, sausages, pretzels and the company of Germans who chose to work and live here in Manila and say EIN PROSIT!

To end this post, let me share my blogger friend Azrael's video of the event featuring me in the Beer Drinking Contest! Hahah don't judge!

Celebrate Authentic Oktoberfest at Sofitel Manila!

Tuesday, September 16, 2014

Oktoberfest has been part of the Philippine scene since we are after all the third largest drinker in the world. Bavaria would have been proud to see beer always chugging off bars, establishments and places in Manila and what better way to make that experience authentic by having REAL Oktoberfest at Sofitel Manila. The German Club Manila established in 1906, the German Embassy and Sofitel Manila will head the merry making and even bring the actual authentic Bavarian band to make it even more festive this 76th Oktoberfest!

So we did the next best thing by suiting up with real deal Bavarian hats and held our one liter German Beer Mugs, then after that... we just had to warm up with an Oktoberfest requirement... a dance!

Now I'm not gonna lie to you and tell you that I wasn't a little shy doing this, but I was.... but if you see the actual Germans that average 6ft tall doing all the moves with gusto, you'll really have to do it yourself, then once you get the hang of it... you'll LOVE it! :)

The German Club and Sofitel Manila did even more to have us get a taste of the festivities. They told us how much food and booze is going to be served on October 17 and 18. Almost 2000+ people attend each day and they have broken each of those records every year. There's nothing that can match Oktoberfest in Sofitel Manila because you just can't find anything as authentic as this anywhere else in the country!

Then we got on to the feast fit for a King!

So if you're not convinced that the ton of sausages, meat, potatoes, sauerkraut, mustard and beer could not get you interested in celebrating at Sofitel Manila this October 17 and 18, you must be crazy. Go give them a call and reserve at 5515555. Go with your friends and make this celebration a memorable one by doing it the right way, like the Germans do!

My First Authentic OKTOBERFEST at Sofitel Manila!

Friday, November 01, 2013

I haven't been to a real one. One that's like ahmm... what the Germans do. The usual I think in local ones only involve beer and bands only so I was so excited to hear I'll get more of that in this real deal OKTOBERFEST organized by the German Club in Sofitel Manila.

This is their 75th year and it only calls for a huge celebration. It's also apt that they are going to hold in a great venue such as Sofitel Manila's Harbor Garden Tent. This place can literally hold 2000 people in a single night and I must say, this well attended event did not disappoint.

From long tables intended for groups, you'll feel that the whole vibe was intended to be something that would let you IN on a true blue and significant occasion for the Germans. An Asian-Hispanic boy in this event? I said why not.

So I went ahead and grabbed one of these mugs and filled it up with my favorite Lager. All in the spirit of learning and drinking culture that is definitely foreign to mine. I loved every bit of it when I saw the other components of this gig.

The food was SUPERB. There were tons and tons of sausages, sauerkraut, breads, fruits and pastries that you would only probably see in Germany when this is celebrated. I found heaven in my plate every time I go back and forth the line and I did swear a couple of times while I was at it. Yes, THREE PLATES FULL!

I was in some way living my passion. I wanted a taste of it and now I'm already experiencing it. Thank you for this Sofitel Manila!

Stage was set and oh and before I forget, this place was really lacking in something. We forgot the Germans! =)

Opening the event was the former and current German Club President. They sort of touched us in the history of this even and how it came to the Philippines. Germans wanted this to happen because they miss it so much, they needed to bring it to our shores.

The GM of Sofitel Manila also welcomed us. We expected no less but the best 5 star quality service since they have hosted this event for a few years! This one's so good!

They taught us a few moves so we can celebrate like the Germans do it. I learned a few German words too.

Then they suddenly came in. A real deal German band!

They played all your Bavarian favorites and we all sang along no matter how it sounded awkward if sung by Asian Hispanic guys like me. I love the polkas and the skips and hops. I loved it all.

Plus look at my SAUSAGE HEAVEN!

Then to officially start the festival they cracked open a huge barrel. With a hammer on the right hand and a mug on the other, it started something really good. A huge celebration and party with BEER involved in it. How can that NOT be SO GOOD?!!!

Even the AZKALS Coach agrees. Prost! Zum Wohl!

We all had fun, everyone had their mugs and arms up in the air. Some people even danced on the tables for cryin out loud! =)

Now that's a party, that's a real way to celebrate OKTOBERFEST!

You have to know who you are and I really appreciate that the Germans made this their home away from home. Bringing their culture just makes the Philippines a melting pot... one which we can't deny have been for the last century. Thank you so much to the German Club and Sofitel Manila for making us a part of it. That's how I celebrated OKTOBERFEST 2013 in my part of the world. How about you? =)
