Another Passion: Music

Sunday, September 01, 2013

image

I've been able to do more today in the field of music. The things I wrote years ago got revamped and was given appropriate amount of care. I rewrote most of it and had a friend arrange these masterpieces. I'm planning to give this to some of my friends who work in the industry who may or may not find some use for it. This is a result of what I've been able to do when we got out piano fixed and re calibrated. These are some of the things that I am so thankful for, plus the Piano Lessons I got when I was a kid.

I can't remember the last time that my friends and I came together. If my hunch is right, that would have been probably around 15 years ago. I feel so old all of a sudden, but pretty thankful our piano stood the test of time. It would have been amazing if my grandma saw what I was doing with her most prized possession. She was the one who practically introduced us to music at a very young age. Later on, we got busy and ended up having her to only play a couple of songs even if she was already blind. She really inspired a lot of people in her time. She inspired all of us; but she shared something quite amazing to me. That's the eagerness to write and somehow become a semiprofessional lyricist. Now what could be better but having people know about what happens to my compositions soon! Enough of these trips down memory lane and I'll tell you about what happens to my adventures in this field soon!

Yeng Constantino Launches New Album Metamorphosis!

Thursday, February 14, 2013

Yeng was able to choose songs and overall input on this album and says she wants the name to be about transformation, change and maturity. Metamorphosis was the only word she could think of.

This specific season she was able to work with the greatest musicians, and writing is much like a diary to her. Listening to her own songs made her realize how much she's changed over the years and now she knows what to do do, what to say and she's so glad her record company allowed her to do things freely. She's kinda afraid if people would accept her but she says she doesn't want to look back and say she didn't do it.

She adds she wants to be true to herself and they will hear the old Yeng but she will always add something new, something to actually dance with, even a music video. Listening to blink182 and Mandy Moore at the same time made her also realize that she doesn't need to be boxed up at all.

Yeng wants yo be a good example to everyone especially the youth because she wants to honor God, the church and she's happy about it. Her music is also about love, and heartbreaks but she says she wants to keep her own relationships private. But also says she can't really keep a secret and you'll probably see her tweet or instagram about it. She also hints about a love story that almost happened with a close friend but it had to end.

Good news actually arrived when we were in the blog conference because a prestigious academy in Europe got Yeng Constantino as  an honorary member as they put up a branch in Singapore so she's gonna be there on March 3. Make sure you visit her new website www.Yeng.ph and find out more of what Yeng has in store for you this 2013 and her new album Metamorphosis! Watch how Yeng transforms into something bigger, better and brighter Philippine and possible International Rockstar than before! It's out on stores now!

Sabrina's I Love Acoustic 5

Wednesday, February 06, 2013

I love Sabrina. You probably know by now how successful she is because for most guys who adore listening to acoustic songs, she's the "IT" girl and why not; she's the best in class. I am so fortunate to know a dear person like her. She's so charming, down to earth and sweet. I downloaded her music the day it came out off the iTunes Store here because I've waited for this since she got her other album (Sabrina's Acoustic Love Notes) out which she collaborated with Joe D' Mango months ago.

She treated us with a couple of songs from her previous albums and told us more about how she's doing now. She's got multiple platinum awards mind you in Indonesia. The Asian region adores "The Asian Acoustic Sweetheart"

STYLISTICS Live in Manila!

Monday, April 02, 2012

Honestly these are the songs that I was forced to listen to when I was a kid. Well, let me rephrase that... I actually am still exposed to this til now. My Dad is a Stylistics enthusiast and that made me accustomed to singing in this way and using that as well in so many songs today. This particular era of Stylistics was very much out of my generation, but in a nutshell I really loved them. Things like these are not really seen nowadays and people like my Dad, Mom and all of their friends would really love and reminisce about their music. Good thing they are coming to Manila on April 12, 2012, 8pm at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Yes you heard that right! The Stylistics will be here in Manila soon!

I can't wait to listen to their hits "Betcha by Golly", "Wow, Stop, Look, Listen", "You Are Everything", "I'm Stone in Love with You", "Break Up to Make Up" and "You Make Me Feel Brand New" (which by the way was revived by Simply Red which I LOVE too!). Let Airrion Love, Herb Murrell, Van Fields and Eban Brown take you to the times when music was classy and the performance were just way DIFFERENT!

You will also see Elisabeth Ramsey and Rico J Puno for their opening acts so it'll surely be a wonderful evening! For tickets please call 911-5555 or visit Ticketnet.com.ph. This awesome concert is brought to you by That’s Ntertainment Productions and ABS-CBN. Don't look any further if you want to give your folks the greatest gift they'll ever receive this year!

1

Who in the right mind would forget Hanson? We literally grew up listening to their songs and dance quite profusely at that time. It spawned a new generation of music that even the young ones connected with. I know they visited the country a couple of times already but this one is special, it looks like they have come out with a new CD called SHOUT IT OUT and why not its about time that they do a comeback after a long hiatus!

The great recording company PolyEast, record mogul Astrovision/Astroplus will have an Autograph Signing Event for all Hanson fans who bought their latest CD! This will be in two locations on Thursday, March 29 6:00 p.m. at The Block - SM North EDSA and on Saturday, March 31 2:00 p.m. at SM Cebu. Fans from Manila and Cebu will definitely be part of this as the Hanson “Shout It Out” Tour will commence on March 30 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and March 31 at Waterfront Hotel Cebu courtesy of Production outfit Dayly Entertainment!

Robin Nievera who just released his first album called "Overwait" released by Polyeast Record will also be doing the front act. Isaac, Taylor, and Zac can't wait to see Filipinos rock to their songs once again now that they're back in Manila, then Cebu! Will they see you there? I hope!

Julien Drolon's "Phil So Good"

Friday, May 06, 2011

A native of Nantes, France; Julien Drolon introduces his kind of music into Philippine shores. I've seen quite a lot of artists come and go but he looks promising. Have you heard of "Phil So Good"?! I downloaded it off http://www.orangemagazinetv.com which is it's exclusive online resource and listened to it half heartedly. I mean why in the world would a French guy sing something Filipino inspired in the first place. Do you remember the Larusso craze a few years back?!

She sang in French but everybody still danced to her tunes. Julien Drolon used English and Filipino lyrics in this song instead. To me that is quite ingenious. Foreign artists usually stay with their mother tongue since they will eventually sound funny if they try and inculcate their music with ours. His reggae-pop funk-rock sounding vibe plus a mix of Jason Mraz, Bob Marley, Jamiroquai as influences made a "feel-good" sounding tune throughout the track. I think he's definitely ready for a major album and if he sticks to being accessible language wise unlike his French predecessors he would get a better chance of hitting it off BIG here in Manila. Starting up, he'll release the Phil So Good album this May. He's currently working with producers Jack Rufo and Angee Rozul; and I wouldn't be surprised if they hit and dominate the airwaves soon. They need to continue marketing him and his style of music so it could reach a broader demographic than just plain reggae ja right!

"It’s a place that is blessed with amazing musicians that want to collaborate on the making of my album and Filipinos are music lovers”

The market though for reggae sounding music is a little unappreciated in these shores. You can probably note only two of them i.e. Tropical Depression, Peacepipe who made good in this genre of music. Should he venture more into that though without going through the dreadlocks and all that jazz?! Will he make it far?! I don't know the answer but as I said from the looks of it... he's quite promising.

So peeps, go ahead and download it off http://www.orangemagazinetv.com and see if he's at par with your taste. He definitely passed mine. =)
