CONVERSE Proves White Chucks Goes With Anything

Tuesday, November 07, 2017

Sunsets in my hood with White Chucks, a classic that never goes out of style.
I've had a ton of stories with Converse in mind, but the ones with White Chucks on them stand out.

I always had an inkling with colored chucks because I'm the OC type. White Chucks for me meant it was going to be hard to maintain, I would be horrible with it because it would be full of mud and stuff in just one night. So in a nutshell, I've never owned one like now. One that was close was a little off white (which was plain canvass which was released a couple of years ago). During sale events of Converse, I usually buy those that have really loud colors, really funky designs and did shy away from white ones because I knew how hard it would be to actually keep it. Although I've often wondered why people have continued to HOARD the classic white chucks ALL THE TIME whenever it's on the shelves, I've seen a LOT of people get it by huge bags full and I'm not even joking!

Lo and behold I've met my first ever WHITE CHUCKS!
Converse must have been alarmed about what I was thinking and told us in a big event at Le Reve in Quezon City that the famed WHITE CHUCKS can go with ANYTHING. Now that's a BIG pronouncement right there and honestly I do have my reservations, but you know what? I've seen people with WHITE CHUCKS actually do it for real. During the event, they set out the whole venue to hold the CONVERSE WHITE PARTY, figured they can dress anyone and still pair those White Chucks with anything. Case in point, my blogger friends Ruth and Rodel (photo courtesy of our friends from NognogintheCity.com):

Put them in a RED or BLUE outfit, no problem. White Chucks goes with anything!
Now I've seen it all, they were clad in different colors like red, blue, yellow, but all confidently carrying these clothes with the right kind of shoes, it was like the WHITE CHUCKS was meant to be word with them. They're absolutely right, these white chucks CAN go with anything!

I wore my pair of WHITE CHUCKS during a high school reunion last week. All eyes on the shoes!
I wore these shoes during our high school reunion last week and it was like nostalgia. It fit right in with our 90's theme and if my hunch was right, almost everyone in my class had their own Converse shoes on too. With GREEN hair, BROWN trousers, GRAY shirt and a LEATHER jacket, it all fit right in with my look that evening and I was getting complements left and right. It didn't matter when I was already looking like a COLORWHEEL that night because I wore that lovely comfy pair. It still went with my look... and I was happy. After the festivities and drinks, I got a little woozy, I looked at my shoes and it had smudges on them.

I stood up and went to the men's room, pulled a couple of paper towels and poured water on it. I gently wiped the dirt off, while my classmate went in and wondered why I was frantic, why I was on the floor doing all that. He knew what I was doing and said "Hey man, don't worry too much about it! It's WHITE Chucks, it's supposed to be dirty because without it, it won't have character." then went about his business. I guess he's right, I shouldn't worry about that at all. I mean I am really too worried about small things and he's right, after a few days I've worn my Chucks with all that dirt. It still looked fine, and people don't even bother. It now has character. :)

CONVERSE is right. The WHITE CHUCKS goes with anything. You might be a skeptic like me, but with all those days I've worn these, it has been proven. Now for those who also want news from them, I've heart they also have released the second wave of TYLER THE CREATOR's collaboration with Converse.

Jolly Green, Solar Power and Vanilla from Tyler the Creator and Converse.
This is part of the new Golf Le Fleur collection and is now exclusively available at Converse branches in Commonwealth and SM Aura for only Php 5,990.

Go head on to the Converse Philippines Facebook page and follow the ConversePH Instagram account for more details. Thank you CONVERSE for everything!

Converse Releases Chuck Taylor x Nike Flyknit Sneakers

Monday, August 14, 2017

I went here with GUM SOLE SHOES, also from CONVERSE Philippines.

I'm the fat guy who got to visit the new CONVERSE store in Eastwood City a couple of weeks ago. I also was one of the few who got to see one of the newest additions to the Chuck Taylor line which I have to explain to you how special it is. You probably know NIKE too right? Well they've partnered up with Converse on this new one and with great reason, NIKE has in the past released quite a number of FLYKNIT footwear. The fabric they use for the NIKE FLYKNIT line has been precision engineered for stitches that make your feet divided into sections where it needs stretch or support. Meet the new CONVERSE x NIKE FLYKNIT SNEAKERS.

The shoe uses special fibers that are incredibly strong than the usual panels they put in on regular ones. It's one of the things that provide the necessary support when you move fast, in performance tasks but remains surprisingly light. Part of the fabric is made of ultra light yarn made with the thought of reducing waste, so you get less of it in the trash later on if it gets worn out. This unbelievable fiber technology from NIKE is the same one that is being implemented in these Chuck Taylor x Nike Flyknit Sneakers that's breathable, making it stay light and comfortable the whole day. The sole is also using Nike Lunarlon technology, taking your that amount of comfort you already have even further.

Since we were there already, we also took a look at these Chuck Taylor All Star II Pastels that would be so perfect for the ladies. It'll be cute, sassy, trendy, but still lovely as your other Chucks in the racks. Aside from that, we took a history class about how THE FASTBREAK from Converse came about. Did you know a LOT of famous NBA stars started wearing these shoes for professional basketball? I certainly think so too in the local PBA back in the days, because who wouldn't love such a cool looking pair?

Now here's the new Chuck Taylor x Nike Flyknit Sneakers for your viewing pleasure!

These good looking shoes will be sold in all Converse stores and shops nationwide. Make sure you ask for stocks because special shoes like these could run out as there are existing collectors and shoeholics like me who would take it away from you. Don't make me do it and get one now!

I've been wearing this pair for about a week now to test if it's comfy. It's available in two variants, the charcoal black shade and the other is on the green side (which I got). I think it's passed flying colors despite torrential rains this week. It hugs me in two parts, like the part where it's right after the sole and the part after the middle part of the foot. That's where most of the tension lies when walking so it supports me in those areas. That's a cool pair right there. If you want to know more about it, follow their social media channels @ConversePH on IG and Converse.PH on Facebook. Follow where the one star goes!

Converse Sneakers Clash

Wednesday, May 14, 2014

This sight just brought me back to second year college while I was in the brink of insanity because of my AC/DC circuits subject. Though this one has very good load on it because CONVERSE just released their Spring 2014 collection. This is part of a worldwide release of an homage to the old Converse All Star '70 designed by Chuck Taylor. This is Sneakers Clash.

Included in this collection is the camouflage and zebra prints. It was first seen in the Converse All Star Chuck '70. They are bringing the nostalgia and put them into new styles now as seen above. This also contains a heavier, thicker canvas textile, a smaller toe box, reinforced stitched heels and strips, plus premium nickel metal parts, thicker and cushioned interiors.

They also introduced Michael Carandang as one of their endorsers. On this shot is the President and CEO of Filcon Manufacturing Corporation Ms. Margie Go. Carandang says Converse is like second nature to him and he can't remember not wearing them even in the US. Michael is the producer of shows like Jerry Springer, America's Next Top Model and the Tyra Banks Show. He's a full pledged Filipino and has decided to stay here now. I've seen him countless times in Philippine Fashion Week and shows from other brands but he looks happy here.

New Voices ‘Get Loud’ with Converse Philippines!

Thursday, October 24, 2013

I still remember the time I bought myself my first pair of chucks. I didn't go for the plain ones because everybody else had that. I went for the crazy designed ones because I wanted to be unique. Soon after that, I got another one, then another, then more. Today I have about 12 pairs of chucks on my shoe rack. I still have 2 of them that I haven't even worn yet but I did buy them for a good reason. I wanted to be unique, I didn't want to be too formal... I wanted to have something that would remind me of the good old days when rock was but a norm for me. That's really my Converse story.

Today, Converse has so much more to offer. From faux leather, to different patterns of cloth, rubber, styles and shapes.. they pretty much covered what you need for street wear. A couple of days ago, Converse had this put to the test and got a couple of bands in one spot as they wanted these new voices to GET LOUD WITH CONVERSE!

1

This band called Brisom from Manila performed "Walking Lives". The band is composed by front man Brian Sombero, Jeffrey Castro, Jason Rondero, Tim Abbott and Terence Teves.  Their sound mostly lie on the indie rock genre and I've seen them so passionate while performing this track.

 2

Jad Montenegro on the other hand hails from  Mindanao. That is the bands name too. Aside from the vocalist with the same name, she's flanked by Dave Ibao , Eric Luzada , Pjoe Sabanpan and Carlo Garcia. She previously performed solo in Davao but felt the need to expand her musical horizons so they formed a band. These are all her friends so it was easy doing the song entry "The Escapist” for this gig.

3

The pride of South Luzon is Kissbone (rhymes no?) They are composed of Armin Joseph Pepito, Justine Sioson, Renz Jerome Villanueva, Parker Cataquian and Allan Paulo Luching. They've got more of a punk rock - emo-screamo genre and they've been playing since their times in Sienna College Taytay, Their entry is “Distance and Motion” which will surely be a hit to those who fancy this kind of music.

4

Tearing the house down is Bethany from Cebu. They are composed of Luis Quibranza III, Angelo Quibranza, Paolo Miguel Quibranza. and Kevin Borromeo. They are siblings as you can tell from their last name and they have been doing this stuff since 2008. They have been playing the scene since Kevin was added to the group and says their genre is mostly alternative rock. Their entry is “Keep Moving On” which would be more on the same genre too.

5

The last one is the band they call EVEN. They are composed of Dyanne Licudine, Jam Bumanlag, Coco Saupan and Dan Allan Acosta. They all hail from the highlands of North Luzon. They have a brand of dark and melancholic music + performed their original song “Luminary” as an entry to this gig.

Just like me and my taste in shoes, you've got a lot of that too in your system. This gig has shown that the Philippines has a lot of promising bands to watch out for. We are so blessed with talent and we'll find out who will win when the final musical showdown happens on November 9 at Excess Superclub in Quezon City. All you've got to do now is go to their Facebook page to find out how to support your favorite band. Make sure you get counted and don't forget to use hashtags #sneakersgetloud and #converseph when you tweet or post your favorite shoes on Instagram.
