Affordable HONOR X8a Packs 100 Megapixels

Saturday, March 18, 2023

We came out to sea just to get a glimpse of HONOR's newest phone, the HONOR X8a. The device is the latest, most affordable 100MP camera equipped smartphone from the brand which boasts DSLR like photos in a 6.7 inch display which folks can use in usual work, leisure or entertainment. Here's a short video about the short trip we had in Manila bay that afternoon and a few shots I did on board the yacht.

The device also was light, thin, and doesn't need much effort to like. So for those worried about the price, don't fret because it only costs Php 10,990 and they're giving HONOR Earbuds worth Php 1,590, a steal especially since you would need that in transportation, a coffee shop or those instances you need to be an introvert, yay!

But good thing, we had so much time to take photos during sunset. I really appreciated my shots so here!

The breeze, the salty air, didn't bother us at all. It was fun to be amongst media peers, thanks to the lovely people from HONOR who did a lot of work to make that event happen. It was amazing! Congratulations on launch of the new HONOR X8a! Had so much fun there!

And with the eve of Desktop Computers being built not just for work, but gaming and content creation, the need for more powerful graphics cards are becoming a reality. A few days ago, several PC builders in the country joined NVIDIA in launching GeForce RTX PC's and GeForce Esport PC's. If there's anyone that knows how to do it right, it's these people.

People also stream, view on various platforms, and we are experiencing VR growth, plus a lot of creators that need RTX platform, DLSS that provide real good gaming quality. There are also good drivers for creators so you can have quiet but powerful machines all around. People still need high refresh rates, fast reactions during games, better broadcast capability and we have the best of that NVIDIA."

Arnold Padilla the NVIDIA iCafe and E-Sports and System Builds adds "Game revenues are at an all time high. We have RTX for gamers and creators for Ray Tracing, DLSS, Reflex and AI. To maintain solid frame rates, lesser latency, for over 250 games that support NVIDIA, we need to step up from GTX to RTX. The Alcatel Flash 2

Wednesday, December 23, 2015

Mr. Albert Wong the General Manager for Mobile Internet Group of TCL Communications sharing the milestones for Alcatel Flash.

They've been able to survive selling the Alcatel Flash online and have amassed the number 1 slot in terms of volume in Lazada. Imagine a phone with a 3.5 inch screen impressed a lot of consumers and now they launch the Flash 2 phone. They've also scrutinized the demographics seeing that most of the people who buy most of their products are men. This one according to Michael Chen quips a perfect feel in the hand, and remarkable worksmanship. They also announced that they're addressing the male domination of their current market by bringing in new colors come mid January when they release the additional Pearl White and Rose Gold varieties of their phones.

Speaking of which, here's the gorgeous Flash 2

The Flash 2 has a 5.5-inch screen and runs on an Android. It's got an Octa-core 1.4 GHz processor and a ginormous Lithium Ion 3200 mAh battery so you can use it all day. It's currently available in a volcanic ash color and fancy with a little curve. It actually feels so good in the hand when we got the chance to see it during the small Blogger/Media thanksgiving night arranged by Alcatel. They've been investing research and development for handsets that would be at their prime form for a long time. They know the younger generation is their market and they made the best handsets on the price range that's still reasonable.

The phone went to almost a thousand hands before they decided it was the perfect fit. They also have a quick shutter button in the phone’s bottom. Now you can easily press it for rush selfies or photos while you have it on your hand. They boast the Flash 2 has ultra-specs for pixel, runtime and system. They say it's the best Android phone at this price point and they've made a remarkable phone with great design. It's the one they call "Perfect in Hand" which Alcatel prides themselves with.

It's made for the younger generation and they made sure it feels like it, it looks like it and fits your hand like a glove. If you think the first Flash phone was good, you should definitely try this on for size. Make yourself know more about the new one and ask yourself if it's the phone you've been looking for. A 13MP back camera and 5MP front sounds good in my books especially when it costs around Php 6,190 here.

Thanks Alcatel Philippines for having us!

Cherry Mobile Launches New Android One Phone: Cherry Mobile G1

Tuesday, August 11, 2015

We're now at the launch of the next Android One phone from local brand Cherry Mobile.

According to them "Cherry Mobile this year is going top notch, whether it's price, hardware, we're bringing all of our affordable devices to Thailand and Myanmar region. The Android One model has surpassed the sales of Flare 3 and today we're launching 2GB RAM on the G1 with better specs, better integration from the software and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, with a bigger screen and 13MP, 5MP back and front cameras. All the lates updates will also be done with the OS for two years. You'll also have it with LTE and a 2,500 mAh battery. Android One is priced at Php3,999 and the G1 will be at Php5,999. All of which will have an even better Android experience!"

It's got a 5 inch IPS display and 1280 x 720 resolution made with Oncell Technology. You've also got a Dragontrail glass fascade and a Adreno 306 Graphics Processing Unit. One of the remarkable things to see is that it's got 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage at this price point; and it is expandable up to 32 GB.

We've tried the 13MP rear camera with dual LED Flash for starters and saw how much bokeh we could get with that. It was really impressive. The 5MP front camera is also perfect for selfies, ample enough even on low light conditions. This phone also has dual-SIM, 4G LTE, 3G connections, can support Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac standards and Bluetooth 4.0. It runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Android OS and the battery that's ample enough for a whole day use.

Again, the price is Php 5,999. This would be perfect for students, Moms and kids who would just like to have a basic but powerful smartphone that can entertain their games, apps and daily abuse. A bit sad that I didn't have one so I could take photos and test the video, but it's all good.

Cherry Mobile Comes Back with CM Flare X and New Brand Cubix

Friday, June 26, 2015

It's been a while since we've seen Cherry Mobile, and the darn secret is out! They just released what seems to be a worthy competitor to those high capacity, low price "supposedly" powered and high end phones. They're calling it the Cherry Mobile Flare X. It's an Octa-core powered 3 GB RAM capacity smartphone that only costs Php 6.999. Unbelievable, but it costs less than its foreign counterparts.

The Cherry Mobile Flare X runs on Android Kitkat 4.4 OS, has got 1.7 GHz Octacore Processor, 13 MP Rear Camera using the SONY IMX214 which also autofocuses on subjects and a 5MP front so you can take decent selfies. The phone also boasts 16GB ROM, a 5.5 inch Full HD IPS Screen and a 3000 mAh battery which makes it last longer than your average android phone. This particular handset you're seeing is actually mine and I'm using 2 sim cards for it. I used Sun Prepaid as primary and a Smart Prepaid for the secondary line, both have run flawlessly since then. I use high frame rate games like Clash of Clans and Hello Hero on it, but still it runs well. For daily tasks, the pre installed apps would be sufficient but as with any android phone, you can always get what you need from the Google Play Store.

During the launch, they let us try a couple of gadgets from their brand Pyxis. They're extensively making it visible with the Bluetooth Speakers, Digital Clocks (with USB ports so you could plug your devices in) and more Power Bank units.

Cherry Mobile Flare X

Another interesting device I saw on the table was this one. This is the Pyxis Clicker, and it's an anti theft device that needs a corresponding application so you could pair it. After pairing, you can hear beeps as it tracks how far your smartphone or tablet is. It also could capture photos remotely, notify you of unread messages and missed calls. I was really liking this one! They were selling it for Php 750, although they require you Android 4.3 and Bluetooth 4.0.

I also tried to play some games they got on the phone and tablets which they also put into full TV screens. You can barely tell there's lag and the graphics was nice. Everything was just eye candy. Speaking of which...

Cherry Mobile Flare XCherry Mobile Flare X

This lady is holding the first ever unit called CUBE made by Cherry Mobile's newest brand called CUBIX. It runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat but can be upgradeable to Lollipop. They put in 1.4 GHz Octa Core processor and 2 GB RAM. Internal memory is 16GB and you can get a 64GB micro SD. They got it equipped with 13MP for the Rear Camera, a 5MP front and a 2000 mAh removable battery. Well yes we're a little worried about the batteries but that's way sufficient already for a smaller form factored phone. It's got a 5.0 IPS display so you can just imagine how big it is. It looks a lot like an iPhone but it's smaller, and it's not. That's the easy part, but really for a first phone release, they're probably thinking of you. They're selling this at Php 4,490 and ONLY SELLING IT EXCLUSIVELY IN LAZADA. This will come out at 12 Noon today! Head on to www.lazada.com.ph/cherry-mobile-cubix/. They also preinstalled the Lazada App so you don't have to go through the whole enchilada of installing it.

Now how's that for a comeback from Cherry Mobile?

The New Kata M1, Re-Launch of Kata i3 and the Kata Singing Idol Event

Wednesday, April 09, 2014

This is the first time that I'm seeing KATA, a new mobile brand based in Hong Kong and the Philippines. With the era of mobile phone manufacturers giving ample presence in our country, Kata presents itself with the re-launch of their Kata i3 and the formidable Kata M1 models that will surely make Filipino consumers excited about their brand. Before that, we got to enjoy their Kata Singing Idol Search during their event in SM City North Edsa a few days ago. This was practically a Facebook Fan Page search turned singing contest. I must say, they've got really good singers that afternoon that delighted the crowd.

These ladies, Ms. Ma. Anna Marie Boctoy, Ms. Crystal Lagman and Ms. Stephanie Lee were the top 3 finalists who made it. They performed “Not Like The Movies” by Katy Perry, “Let It Go” from the Disney movie Frozen and “Chasing Pavements” by Adele respectively.

Kata’s Country Manager, Manuel Delos Santos, Melchor Villamor, Asst. Operations Manager were also there during the event. They awarded the winners with their own Kata Mobile phones. The winner also won a brand new spanking Kata i3! Seen on the photo above is the Voice of the Philippines Season 1 contestant Deb Victa also hosted the show. I must say, she was good.

I was a little jealous though when the winner was announced. The Kata i3 she got has a 5-inch Super HD display and a 1.3 GHz Quad Core processor. It's also got a whopping 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera that takes sharper images. It's 16GB internal memory that is expandable up to 32GB promises you'll have all the apps you need when you use it. Congratulations Crystal Lagman! The first ever Kata Singing Idol! Runner ups went home with Kata Venus 3 too.

Aside from that, they gave away tons of prizes to lucky customers that afternoon. Some of these guys have won in contests hosted in Kata Digital Philippines' Facebook page so I highly suggest you follow their channels below.

Then they announced the new Kata M1!It's pegged at the affordable price of Php 9,999.00 (formerly almost 12K). I love the RAM they put in on this unit plus the really nice specifications on the rear and front cameras. You'll surely love the shots if you get to have these new Kata phones. I haven't tested one yet but all Kata Stores and Kata kiosks have them on display. They can easily let you test it out if you plan to buy one. Hopefully they can lend me a review unit soon.
