2024's Most Beautiful Face ANDREA BRILLANTES

Tuesday, January 28, 2025

Seeing her up close would have made the case of being number 1 in the Most Beautiful Face of the Year a no contest. It's the annual voting list run by TC Candler, a creator based in LA. There have been 7 Filipinas in that list this year but the Top 1 post went to ANDREA BRILLANTES, one of Star Magic's brightest stars.

She's also been given the SPOTLIGHT by the artist agency last week and we got to talk to her a bit about getting the recognition and asked a few more things about what she plans to do this 2025. She's had a pretty lucky 2024, and for sure, ABS-CBN has huge plans for her especially after getting in this really popular list.

We talked to Andrea at the SPOTLIGHT set by Star Magic. They really prepared a lot for this event and interview (mainly to recognize their accomplishments of course!).

Andrea says "I was quite surprised about the video, I didn't know you were going to do that. I tied my hair today because of that list. Last year I was also there but I didn't get the top spot, but this year when I learned about it, I said hala, I'm top 1? I asked my Mom immediately and told her she's got a daughter that made the top spot. But really, I'm so thankful. It's the bragging rights that I could tell my friends now, really happy about it but I couldn't have that in my head, I couldn't wrap my head around it."

She adds "Right now I'm enjoying my free time because I don't have a show, but I've got a ton of things to do especially with business. I set my priorities, but try to also enjoy my youth. I also help with my community, my church, and try to learn a new sport like frisbee. I try to be intentional with my time, try to find some for everything. It's quite precious for me because I have to have energy for it everyday. I try to travel, my schedule is crazy, but want to have a work life balance. I want to manage my time because you can't disappear when you're in this business. I think it's important to have sleep, above anything, no matter how beautiful you are. Now I'm adding veggies to my diet, try to take care of that and what I eat. I also invest in skincare, do makeup, I've been doing it since I was 16 and I think I've got a pretty good grasp of it. If I'm tired, I just do my routine. I try to fit it in one hour or 30 minutes just to take care of myself."

"You don't just have to be pretty outside, I try my best to be good, my attitude. I think making your heart pretty is better."

With all the things she's been through, she knows herself even more. She plans to do more shows, programs, movies, even other things outside showbiz. It's her experience that makes her an even better person, and we saw that during the SPOTLIGHT event with her.

PLDT and Smart Chairman/CEO Al Panlilio

The folks at Smart Communications Inc. just inked a partnership with ESports Event Management and Production giant Dark League Studios in its aim to further grow ESports in the country. This is certainly the time to hone them from grassroots, to pros and eventually have them represent the country in international tourneys.

This means they'll be working together through the Smart GIGA Arena platform and have folks needed tournament experience in games like Mobile Legends, PubG, CODM, League of Legends Wild Rift and many more. Put Livestream Talent to Use with SUPERNOVA MANILA

Sunday, April 09, 2023

Just had a chat with good looking actor, commercial model, and very spirited dancer Ryle Santiago this week as he embarks on a new venture with his team under an agency called Midnight Suns. We discussed more of their live stream arm which they properly call "Supernova Manila" which has kept him and his associates busy these past few months.

Ryle says "Supernova is our live-streaming branch which is under our mother company, Midnight Suns. We hire anyone who has a phone and is of legal age and they can earn up to 1.5M monthly via digital gifts which can be withdrawn into cash. We also market our talents as influencers (we have micro all the way to mega influencers) to brands for posting. I have plans on turning it into a full talent agency in the future, but we’re taking things step by step. We formed Midnight Suns with 6 other people. But right now, Supernova is being handled by me, my brother who is our COO and Janzen, one of my supporters that I trust. She's our Graphic Designer and Online Event Coordinator. Aside from her, we have Pam Castro, our Data Analyst and Edwina Salvador our Client Success Representative."

Recently, Ryle Santiago joined VIVA Artists Agency and told us the circumstances of his showbiz work. Since leaving his previous network, he sent intentions joining another network's artist agency but felt he didn't fit the part. Ryle quips "VIVA made me feel the urgency in signing with them because everything was quite swift. Just like what Michelle Yeoh said, "Don’t let anyone tell you that you’re past your prime.""

Currently, Supernova Manila has over 700 people onboard. Ryle says "Most of them are actually marketable influencers which makes it easier to give them over to our partner brands. All of them are live-streamers because the live-streaming we do doesn’t really need experience or training. Anyone can pick up their phone and start earning with us. We have people from all walks of life, all industries and all ages. We have Nurse Jentz who is a full time nurse in Dubai who makes a 100k extra with us on her free time. We have Maria who is an 18 year old student that watches her parents’ sari-sari store in during the day, studies, but makes 200k a month by live-streaming. It may sound intimidating, but all everyone does is respond to the comments they get on the live or talk to each other in a zoom meeting-like live where you and up to 11 of your friends can earn simultaneously while talking to each other."

They're quite happy to note that Supernova Manila has already changed lives and Ryle says "We plan to expand to different countries so that we may contract hosts from all over the world because currently we host those that are in the Philippines. We want to give OFWs a chance to earn extra as well. I also want to turn it into a talent agency in the future and maybe with the help of my future projects from Viva, that can be a reality. I believe that other than the monetary, we find success in seeing our talents live completely new lives. It feels good seeing their success stories, seeing where their money goes, like some of our hosts got married with what they earn, give birth, put up houses for their parents and lots more. But it gets really heartwarming when we all get together and you see that they’ve all become such great friends."

There are different posts currently available on Supernova Manila. You can be a Host, a Manager, Affiliate or an Influencer. They don't even require a résumé, experience or  fees to get involved. He says "Anyone can join us provided they’re of legal age, have a phone and a valid ID." They see a huge potential in livestreaming and help their talents score brand deals. He adds "The brand partnerships are a bonus for the hosts. Of course, it’s the client’s discretion on who they pick for their campaigns. We at Supernova Manila also aid in the creation of the content to ensure that the quality of posts are always top-notch."

For those interested, you may get in touch with them via ryle.midnightsunagency@gmail.com or their official IG accounts @midnightsunagency or @supernova.mnl on Instagram. Ryle says "If you’re ready to break free from the office and the 9-5 grind, join Supernova Manila by The Midnight Suns and earn big your way! You can get the freedom to work, whenever, wherever, the sky’s the limit! Come start living your life on your terms today!"

L
ooks like the talents keep pouring in for new TV station AMBS2 as talented host Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla signed with ALLTV. It's been on test broadcast in the last few days and programs are still being conceptualized, but thinking about what she's done in previous shows, it'll be easy to add in her hosting skills among other things she can do.

She was welcomed by AMBS President Ms. Maribeth Tolentino and says "She will be fun to see especially by our entertainment viewers. I could see how she's been loved by Moms as she's someone they can relate to. All I can say is welcome to ALLTV Mariel, and we're looking forward to work with you!"

The event was held at Mella Hotel last September 8 and she will be part of several talents that ALLTV has acquired over the past few weeks, ramping up their programming to start operations in the next few days. She was also with Boy Abunda, AMBS CFO Maryknoll Zamora and AMBS General Counsel Atty. TJ Mendoza during the short program. Mariel was ecstatic and says "I am so grateful for the opportunities given to me by ALLTV, and be assured I'll be part of shows that will certainly make people happy. That's all I want to do!"

It will be broadcasted on TV5 and its affiliate networks so make sure you're tuned in because this will be BIG!

The finalists include girl groups A4OU, Neu Climax and Yara whilst the guys are composed of Full Out, Upgrade and Versus. Discovering Pop Icons of this Generation: PoPinoy

Friday, May 28, 2021

New and fresh content coming out of TV5 just isn't a surprise anymore, quite expected. I'm saying that because as I logged in on a zoom press conference a few days ago, the stars from other networks have converged on TV5 to make a one of a kind talent show called PoPinoy aimed to discover even more world class Filipinos, put them on stage and make it their way to stardom!

What's more interesting is the composition of mentors and judges which includes her Majesty Maja Salvador, King of RnB Jay-R, Viral Dance Sensation DJ Loonyo and Theatre Siren Kayla Rivera. You see, the folks responsible for these are Cignal, production house Archangel Media and communications company TNT. They know this industry front and back, so this would be like a reality show wherein we'll be following the contestants journey into stardom. In a way, if you get attached, we wouldn't be surprised. I felt all their excitement as stars on the show shared stories.

TV5 President and CEO Robert P. Galang says "Cignal and TV5 is commited to give you relevant and quality content that not only entertain, but to empower our kapatids. With TNT, we are launching this to showcase talented Filipinos around the world! We will be with them all the way, we hope you support the new show here on TV5!"

Mike Tuviera of Archangel Media says "I can't wait to open this nationwide. We are meeting more people, develop their skills and talent to make them the best performers and singers too."

Jane Basas of Smart says "TNT has always championed pinoy talent and we always support it. We want to present them in a bigger platform so we are doing this nationwide. TV5 is the best partner as they share the same vision. We're glad to become part of the journey of our talents. They will also be TNT's ambassadors, we will bring them all over the Philippines. We'll have a TNT Pop Show that will also be hosted by Darren Espanto wherein we will have new guests that you will all love! I can't wait to see more of our Filipino talent and the winner of this show. TNT believes they have the same passion as ours to discover more talented Filipino youth hence this partnership."

Hosting the show is Paolo Ballesteros and Maine Mendoza. Maine says "I have seen in Eat Bulaga the sheer amount of talent that Filipinos have... and it needed a platform so they too can be seen. This show will be different, because it is different! We're also going to tell their stories which would make their journey more interesting. There's lots of things you should look forward to in PoPinoy!"

Maja Salvador adds "I am excited to work with these talented people. They made ways to really put us together and requested that we need to do this... and now this happened. This was just something off that awards night when I signaled that I wanted to work with them, remember that? Me managing talents is not a one man team, I have a lot of people who help me and it really is not my decision alone. We're going to judge and train them more in this competition, which is a bit difficult because it's not just a singing competition, everyone is going to audition and we have to see their potential. That part is going to be challenging."

You'll be seeing how they will discover the biggest PPop sensation, you'll be seeing the girl and boy groups on a primer this coming June 6th at 8PM, while the first episode will happen on June 13, Sunday at 7PM on TV5 and a catch up episode on Colours and on Cignal at around 9:30pm the same day. You can also watch it on the Cignal Play app so if you haven't downloaded that on your smartphone, maybe this is a good day to do it.

Discover world class talent in this joint, see you on Sunday ha?!

Synergy88's Digital Stories, Management via TAMD

Thursday, April 12, 2018

I've written aboout Synergy 88 last year and have high regards with this game studio - they are currently based in my hometown Quezon City, Philippines.

Aside from making easy work with Microsoft Studio's Gears of War 4, CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the others, here they go with another feather to their hat creating Synnergy 88's newest group the Talent Acquisition and Management Division (TAMD) who's thrust is to tell all things Filipino with contents created solely for platforms Facebook and Youtube.

Ms. Jackie Chua says "We started only creating art for video games and found an even bigger calling, so now we create mobile games of our own. We tackled VR and AR, motion capture and things related to this industry, now we want to tell the story of the Filipino people. Today we're signing up Jacq Monteverde, Opi Eusebio and girl group DigiSquad to be part of our roster."

Head of the Division Ms Abigail Aguilar says "TAMD of Synergy88 has now been established and thank you for coming. We are backed by the largest mobile developer in the Philippines and we are now maximizing our resources to put in front the Filipino story."

Opi says "This is my first time to have people to manage me, it's overwhelming, and now I won't be taken advantage of. I trust them."

Jacq couldn't contain her excitement and says "Now I am really excited because they are really hands on - and much like family."

DigiGirls Milagring adds "We have been independent for the longest time and even if we have been handled by managers before, this will be bigger. Can't wait to work with them soon!"

For those who don't know, Jacq and Opi have been doing roles, modeling, indie projects whilst the girl group DigiSquad has done different appearances in gaming events and conventions which of late includes ESGS2017. Synnergy 88 is the largest gaming studio in the country, and with these ladies and gents in their helm, they will be able to tell interesting stories worldwide. You may visit synergy88digital.com and follow their social media accounts for more information about their projects. If you want to book their talents, you may get in touch with Darwin De Leon via darwin.deleon@synergy88digital.com +63 917 317 49 20 and +63 2 623 49 20.

Jeff James Releases "GoGoGo" Album

Friday, March 20, 2015

He's from Hawaii and he's been here for quite some time now. He's a good singer and had success there but he wanted to expand, broaden his horizon. He's already making waves in social media and has got quite a following in the music scene. We just met him during a blog con in Mom and Tinas in QC. My first impression? He doesn't come off too complex, he finds the Philippines a very unique market and he says he could have gone to other countries, but he wants to be in a place that he could easily grow more as an artist. Hawaii consequently only has almost a million people in the islands, compared to the Philippines' which have almost a hundred million. Much of the people there have Filipino roots and he's gearing to take this opportunity to engage the untapped Filipino market by being in the Philippines. He speaks a little Filipino now and can get by everyday conversations (judging from the manner he talked during the blogcon), he can understand most of the words, but he admits however he still really needs help in that department. He was eager to learn, eager to know more about the Filipino culture and finds life here easier and laid back than in Hawaii.

 Jeff James

Jeff says "It's something that I'm learning when I came here in the Philippines, and when I came here I knew there was a lot of work to do. All these music that I've gathered for around 3-4 years for the Filipino scene, I think I still have to work with it. I have a lot composed but I have to make it more apt for the Filipino market. Actually I am successful in my own eyes, because I'm doing what I love. A lot of people spend years of their lives doing what they didn't want to do and keep their lives, and think they're not even successful. For me, I am already successful. The biggest award that I got is called Na Hoku Hanohano Award, it's like the Grammy's in Hawaii. Hawaiian artists get together and give that award to peers who have excelled in their music. It was for a song called "Hawaiian Girls" which did pretty good in Hawaii during that time, they gave me an award for that as well. OPM kind of included me in the festival "Palakasin ang OPM" (Strengthen OPM) wherein we went to Ayala Triangle and got all these other artists and played in that venue. We only played OPM music, people were asked to download on their gadgets only OPM songs and got only artists in the loop to play Filipino music."

I think I saw him the last year when he performed in Greenhills for the same cause. For those who don't know, that's where he met the producers from GMA Records where he got to show his work and got him to release his album here in the Philippines. He's made quite a handful of OPM song covers in his Youtube channel and he's gotten tons of views in only a few weeks. He even had his own version of Pharell's HAPPY which he's done in Filipino and got around 100K plus views in 6 days, online he's doing pretty good. His album GoGoGo is now being released through GMA Records through online channels and CD's sold in local music stores like Astroplus, Astrovision, Odyssey and SM Music and Video outlets nationwide. His mix of Hawaiian, Pop, RnB, Reggae and island music might prove to be your next thing to have on your playlist. He's got 12 tracks and has composed all of it. He's also rearing to make more music very soon including a local version of Hawaiian Girls which he'll call Filipina Girls (still in the works) as he's seen them all quite hot and beautiful. He'll also be appearing in GMA shows, mall tours to promote his album. This will include Visayas and Mindanao locations as he's planning to make Cebuano songs in the near futre too.

He's a good chap and makes good music, give him more reasons to love the Philippines by getting his album in stores now!

Happy Birthday Sef Cadayona!

Sunday, March 16, 2014

We had the chance to see Sef Cadayona in the flesh a few days ago. It's his birthday so I have to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY SEF! Haha! He's one of my favorite stars in Bubble Gang next to Michael V especially when he plays Selphie in skits Ikaw at Ang Ina. He's one hilarious chap and I was pretty impressed when I met him that afternoon. He's not only funny, but really good looking too. He also is part of Sunday All Stars and I've reckoned he fancies one talent the most... he loves dancing!

The event was also hosted by Betong and Tess Bomb, both whom are good friends of Sef. He's also delighted that his sponsors Cornetto, RRJ, Sweet Escape cupcakes helped in making the event more special with their produts. Kudos also to GMA Artist Center for arranging this and organizing a full blown dance contest just for Sef!

Then we all sat down and watched how these dancers from not so well off areas performed. They are quite a talented bunch.

Simple Guyz had crumping on their performance. A more army kind of feel.

I am Crew District on the other hand danced on very good RnB music.

Technical Force saved the best for last. They had a very good theatrical performance. Some parts made the audience have goosebumps no joke!

The panel of judges really had a hard time choosing the winner. Shown above are Mark Sablan from GMA Artist Center, Mayton Eugenio the daughter of Geline Eugenio and an upcoming actress, the main man himself birthday boy Sef Cadayona and Bing Manalo of GMA Artist Center too.

Sef Cadayona is so thankful to everyone who has supported him all these years and hope that his career will continue to flourish in the coming years. He still wants to do more in this industry and knows how much support he's getting from the network, his management and friends. He wishes also that his fans support him on Sunday All Stars as he's part of Rocco Nacino's team Tweet Hearts along with other GMA artists. You'll also see him on Vampire ang Daddy Ko and Bubble Gang every week!

Please continue to support him as I do too. I'll watch every Bubble Gang episode you can quote me on that! :) Happy happy birthday Sef! Thanks for being so nice too!
