Opulent Design Concept Launches DOLCE & GABBANA CASA (with HEART EVANGELISTA)

It was hot, humid, but it never stopped some of Manila's who's who to flock to the Ground Floor of Greenbelt 5 as Opulence Design Concept launches Dolce&Gabbana Casa. The event was graced by owners Gerry Sy and Jinky Tobiano-Sy who welcomed guests at the pop up store and floral installation.

This is also a collaboration by events stylist par excellance Gideon Hermosa, and of course, seeing them in real life just made a couple jaws drop, not surprised. He also made these different sections be inspired by D&G Casa muses Tessa Prieto, Interior Designer Chat Fores, Fashion Designer Rosanna Ocampo and our love Fashion Icon Heart Evangelista. The one they showcased is part of both the Sicilian Cart and Mediterranean Blu Collection, made to depict Italy's colorful island Sicily and the sea it faces in the Italian region.

They also had Leopardo and Zebra which is why they had animal prints and figures on plates, cups and saucers, pillows, robes, towels and just about all their home accessories.

Needless to say, it's so nice out there, and I'm so glad they're bringing in the posh brands in the country. Filipinos deserve nice things.

Watsons Celebrity Switch: Tessa Prieto Valdez

It was a fun afternoon to be with celebrities again at SM AURA Premier. Worldiwde health and beauty retail brand Watsons had another round of their Celebrity Switch activities today at their store. Social butterfly Ms. Tessa Prieto Valdez suited up for the occasion and got her hands immersed on how it feels to be a Watson's lady. She began asking customers to come inside the store so they would be able to discover themselves what really good things inside that can be used by your kids, kins, folks and family.

Ms. Tessa says "You get value for your money. I'm so into this wellness stuff and they've got things that are very affordable. They have promos on top of promos and real ones that doesn't fool the customers. This is fun because there are customers that I don't know, and I get to talk to them, get to tell them things that I loved inside the store. I convinced them to allow me wear accessories on top of this comfortable uniform, I thank them for that as well. 

For me, I really shop here and I do save a lot in Watsons. This has been my 5th year with them and I shop here a lot, I'm happy with that. It's because I discover things that you don't know until you get here. They don't have lashes yet so that's what I'm suggesting soon. They have glues though and this is a one stop shop, health and beauty should be affordable and Watsons has got them all, you should not waste money. I save by shopping in bulk. I still like designer clothes, I splurge in that, also my hats and accessories. I don't do alcohol or drugs, I save in where I can but if I need to spend I do. I don't forget to give to charities too, that's important. I think my favorite now is Watsons Generics, they have simple things and new ones that I discovered today like the malunggay capsules. It's really great!"

I also got the chance to shop around with  the Clingers and picked some of my favorites, plus a couple of new ones too. 

I use this on a regular basis so I can take care of my skin after every shave. This is Gillette's Cool Blue.

Pond's Men has some skin cleaning products plus the re-energizing toners so you won't look or feel tired every time you face the camera, artista?! LOL

I haven't used this yet but I think the Dove Men deep clean product would be perfect for polluted Manila, students should know how to use this regularly.

I love Bench scents, they're dirt cheap and if you're not too fuzzy about perfumes, this is your quick fix. It's also nice that you can find it in Watsons outlets nationwide.

The new things I found earlier were these Sunplay Sunblocks, Face Potion that can protect you from the harmful rays of the sun. Don't forget the Watsons Nose Pore Strips too so you can keep the T zone clean all the time!

Sofitel Celebrates CNY with Albert Andrada's "Shanghai Nights"

Chinese New Year was a tad nicer when we celebrated it in Sofitel Manila. Aside from the scrumptious food served on their restaurant Spiral, Manila's best buffet, they went ahead and got it up a notch to put in a whole fashion show courtesy of world renowned royalty designer Albert Andrada. His collection called "Shanghai Nights" sashayed as onlookers were struck in awe of this 15 piece collection. Let's take a look at the scenes a few days ago!

Present during the occasion was Sofitel Manila's GM Adam Laker with Philippine Social Butterfly Tessa Prieto Valdez and ANTM World renowned designer (personal friend of Albert Andrada) Michael Cinco.

Ice sculptures, arrangements, calligraphic artists made their own Year of the Wooden Horse impressions. Everything was exquisite at Spiral.

Spiral's own Chefs created a special menu for the occasion and the Chinese host also serenaded the crowd with music in Mandarin if I'm not mistaken.

Albert Andrada opens up the show with black numbers, skirts in different lengths with gold accents here and there. He pulls this off without looking tacky, I am not surprised. This is why he's making raves in the middle east scene. The drapery, the placement of the gold would not take away the elegance he wanted to exude in these black dresses.

Samsung Digital Home Appliances: The Eve of Digital Inverter CompressorRefrigerators

Samsung among all things have been leading in the technology department; and just like any good manufacturer they are bringing this all into your homes via their appliances. It was my first time seeing all of these and it turned out to be an awesome day. Why? I'll tell you in a bit. For starters, let's see what the event is all about. Ladies and gentlemen, this is Samsung Digital Home Appliances. Shall we start? =)

One of our hosts that quaint afternoon at Chef Jessie's restaurant in Rockwell was Yaya Ian Galliguez; I've never seen her before. Aside from playing this role complete with a British accent, she pretty much knows her way around the kitchen. She was showing us a couple of refrigerator models in front that's made me a lot interested because they were not ordinary. Since it's made from Samsung, these are all No-Frost Inverter Refrigerators. Imagine the technology that was initially only available on air conditioning is now being applied to other pieces of appliances and cooling systems; something only this company is actually capable of. Now that they are bringing it much closer to your home and they are bringing it even with style. Practical, less consumption of energy and environmentally friendly, these models are way advanced and give you savings which is more than what you can ask for in a fridge.

Lucky Chinatown Opens in Manila!

Manila seemed to be left out when it come to establishments and true enough there are only a few who heeded to the call of investments in this area. I witnessed one great event last weekend which had me smile a bit because of the promise it inculcates to the minds of people from this area. Lucky Chinatown just had a grand launch and seeing the brands and people who rejoiced that afternoon only made my hunch confirmed that Manila will change for the better.

President Noynoy Aquino opened the establishment, unfortunately our service didn't leave the point early so we can cover this part aside from the rain and traffic of course. Tim Yap and the eccentric Tessa Prieto - Valdez stood as hosts of the launch.

Drama ensued as the famous EL GAMMA PENUMBRA took the stage and did a couple of tricks with artsy and fancy dances.

After that they did their signature shadow plays which had all of us glued to the screen. They depicted the Chinatown history and also some of the great things you can do now that Lucky Chinatown has opened at the heart of Manila - Binondo area. Imagine these are all made by their shadows, isn't that amazing?

Then the stage opened up and got all of us shooting more as a Fashion show ensued! The best brands showcased their latest collections and we had our fix of gorgeous models too! Take a look at this!

We also spotted celebrities in the event and I was in an oh wow moment when Troy Montero and Aubrey Miles sashayed the red carpet!

 

I'm telling you they are the most GORGEOUS couple I have ever met! Troy and Aubrey was nice too and didn't bat an eyelash when I asked to take some shots. Thanks Troy! =)

I almost missed to see this equally gorgeous guy named Rocco Nacino. He was in a Rudy Project kiosk when I saw him, actually he saw me first. It was so nice to get a chance to talk to him again. I didn't get to do that last Philippine Fashion Week because it was pandemonium in Rajo Laurel's show cum party. Thanks buddy for being so nice to me and everyone else! You are going places!

What better way to end the festivities but by doing a Dragon Dance! Actually, they didn't really end here because it was a whole day event! People were flocking to the Binondo area, it was posh, brands were there, parking was surprisingly ample and the amenities were superbly constructed. Manila and the Binondo area surely has started to have that spunk, they are becoming the best destination for business and pleasure. Now that Lucky Chinatown has arrived, it will start something special at the heart of the city... Manila's now a promised land and it's star is Binondo because of Lucky Chinatown!
