Philippine Fashion Week SS 2014 - SM Men's Fashion

Tuesday, November 05, 2013

Thanks to people from SM Men's Fashion we got to cover the runway show held the evening after David Gandy's interview. It was packed and I think we were able to see what's coming next for this particular brand. I must say, they've got a bright future ahead of them!

Punk Rock Street Wear was first. I guess they've been inspired by this look which has been more liberating in fashion houses in Europe and the US. SM Men's Fashion is conquering the global stage and this definitely is a good start.

I love the denim pants, denim jackets and the coats for a more dressed up look. I also like the shoes they are wearing. Mark Mc Mahon, Brent Javier and the SM Men's Fashion models are mighty tight. I love their set.

Simple, easy to wear and pair up with your existing clothing. SM Men's Fashion really took it up a notch and made these outfits available to the Philippine market.

David Gandy for SM Men's Fashion

Monday, November 04, 2013

Supermodels have flocked the country but I've only seen women mostly who carry that title. Great things come and SM Men's Fashion just got us one by the name of David Gandy. He truly is a presence and just by seeing his photos from various shoots, this 6 foot 3, blue eyed muscular hunky guy from Essex has definitely got it all for a perfect guy template. If there's such a thing that is scruffy hot, he's probably one that will fill its definition. Then the next page will probably be me LOL

We sat down with him a few hours before the SM Men's Fashion show and yes he did answer some very tough questions from Philippine media. Overall, I believe he's the kind of guy who's still old school. A true gentleman never goes out of style. He still prefers holding doors for people, giving up his seat for those who need it or taking off his coat for a lady on a cold night. It's the type where you would want to keep it simple no matter how advanced we already are in this day and age.

He has definitely achieved a lot. Being the spokesperson and image model for well known brands but the most noted one that got him into Times Square in the US was for Dolce & Gabbana's Light Blue plus a second campaign for the fragrance with Polish model Anna Jagodzinska. He bagged a third one and we're almost sure he's going to have more in the coming years.

He's also walked and shot with numerous brands and designers but owes it all to but a stroke of luck. He used to deliver Porsches, Jaguars to tracks for testing when his flatmate entered him into a modeling contest without his consent. He eventually won it and it involved him a contract with Select Model Management in London. Countless editorials, campaigns and shoots later on he got connected with SM Men's Fashion and found its grasp on the Asian market. He knew that they were expanding and he was seeing to have his brand and name to touch this part of the globe. It was a mutual thing to have wanted to work with each other. Now that's going to be a reality.

Now, you'll be seeing more of David Gandy not only on SM Men's Fashion show but also with more campaigns, photos, endorsements with the brand and will soon touch on a world stage. I can't wait to see more of this guy and what it'll become soon.

Swedish Brand J.Lindeberg Lands in the Philippines

Sunday, November 03, 2013

I've known this brand for quite a while now because I often see it being worn by my Dad, Uncles and their friends when I go with them on golf rounds within city limits. They are more on an upscale classy design and not as casual as most shirts in the markets. I've seen them also worn by PGA tourney champions and players which means it's undoubtedly, one of the best.

I heard they set up shop at the SM Premier Aura and got invited to a show in BGC but I wasn't able to catch it. I did the next best thing and mad my co blogger Myke Soon of mixofeverything.blogspot.com.

Just so you know some noted celebrities have worn J. Lindeberg like Brad Pitt, Brad Pitt and Brad Pitt among others LOL. Johan Lindeberg founded this brand in 1996, launched simultaneously in Stockholm and New York. It has definitely come a long way.

Here, my friend Myke sports one of J Lindeberg's jackets that super comfy and fits him perfectly. I checked out some of their clothes and hand picked some of my favorites.

I loved this two button thread textured blue jacket that's perfect for formal to dressed occasions. You must try it on and see if the seams in the shoulder would not look too loose. The shirt on the right was also nice. Even though it's round neck it would probably show neck lines which I like on black, white and dark olive green shades. Too good in fact that I got that and took it home. :)

If I were a little thinner I would have had this one on the left. Golfers must be so thankful to the person who invented the dryfit fabric. The one on the right is a golfers shirt also. Both are pretty good.

When we visited the store in SM Aura Premier, the shirts just became sweeter. There's some top quality products here!

I also like this coat on the left which was quite unusual in color. It's not one of those black or blue ones which men usually wear. I feel the same with the shirts on this rack.

This pink shirt got my attention. I love this because of the color and the cut on the bottom which isn't too uneven. Perfect for me. Someone get this for me please. Thanks! LOL

Now this full ensemble looks really good for executives or juniors who can afford it. Simple, yet very classy. It's not too formal because of the plaid shirts used in this bit. You can even opt for the sweater if you prefer. Really good.

Classy leather shoes, non conventional colored golf shoes plus the black and white spiked ones were really nice. I like the gray one most but I bet it ain't going to be nice on real road, or walk worthy if it ain't grass.

They've got belts, caps and other accessories that you should check out too. It's logo and quality would tell you J. Lindeberg did their homework. Now that there's a brand worthy of your exquisite taste, why don't you take time off and give them a visit in Rockwell or their store in SM Aura Premier. If you want the best, J. Lindeberg has got that covered.

iACADEMY at The N.E.W. Fashion and Beauty Fair - Rockwell Tent

Saturday, November 02, 2013

I've been hearing about iACADEMY for the longest time and I've never even stepped inside their school yet.

The better alternative came to my email a few days ago when we got invited to the iACADEMY gig at The New Fashion and Beauty Fair 2013 in Rockwell Tent Makati.

The Information and Communications Technology Academy offers fashion courses aside from their current BS Animation, BS Computer Science specializing in Software Engineering, BS Information Technology specializing in Web Development, BS Business Administration specializing in Marketing and Advertising, BS Game Development (on which I want to enroll soon maybe) and AB Multimedia Arts and Design.

They don't have graduates on the Fashion Design course yet because this is their first batch, but it looks promising. The event had a part where designers would be able to showcase their clothes and model too. They've got really a full circle approach in this course where you would be able to figure out what particular field you would do good in says Ms. Nicole Aquino, Chairperson of the Fashion Program at iACADEMY Philippines. The goal is to ultimately be one of the noted Fashion Schools in the country. All fashion lovers should be in the lookout for institutions that would hone what they already have innately. Young and fresh.. they've got to follow their passion and look forward to even make their talent shine, a bit more than the usual.

They even got some pieces displayed that afternoon and I like some of them. These are students, so to see intricate work done on some of them were a welcome sight. That's the "promising" thing I mentioned a while ago. Then there was more.

I also saw Ms. Pia Gladys Perey being interviewed by ETC together with some other personalities (I did that on purpose).

I also saw Renan Jay Pacson who makes SUPERGREAT jackets. I wanted one but I'm sure it won't fit me awwww. This guy's really talented and I like the fact that most of his work is "one of a kind" so you won't see other people wearing things of the same design when you get something from him. He's won awards btw, you should look him up. Maybe I will have one custom made in my size LOL.
