ICE SEGUERRA Set To Do Repeat of Videoke Hits OPM Edition (Isa Pa) at the Music Museum

With the success of the previous one, it just needs repeat. Ice Seguerra will be doing his Videoke Hits OPM Edition (Isa Pa) this coming November 8th at the Music Museum in Greenhills San Juan City. This is under FIRE and ICE Live, the concert production arm of Fire and Ice Productions owned by Ice and Liza Dino Seguerra.

As you may already know, Ice has lots of hits being played on Videoke playlists all over the country, aside from that, she's planning to give life to the best hits the medium has, and this will surely be something to look forward to on that date.

Karaoke is such a huge part of Filipino culture, and with the advent of us winning competitions left and right around the world, Filipinos are being feared when holding microphones. Ice is such a force to reckon with, even if she sings soft and emotional, it just sounds so beautiful even if she sings a phone book.

Ice says "This is quite difficult to make a lineup because even at the end of the week, I couldn't choose singles because there are so much OPM songs I could choose from. Now I'm stuck with medleys so I could sing everything. It's a smorgasbord of all the things I want to sing and hear, rearranged in a different way. As much as possible we want to have different genres because it's not just one thing, but it's fun. The first part are the things I really sing in the Videoke world, my personal list. The second part is the requests of people at the venue, then third are the re arranged ones. You know I've been thinking of releasing a few that came out quite nice because my band was crazy good. That's when I saw how the ones we arranged had different flavors."

He adds "I really didn't want to work on a date near my birthday because I want to give my 10,000 percent all the time. It's just the pressure I didn't want to experience, but I'm so happy that one sold out. The energy was also different and we were three hours running. My wife gave me a motorbike, and I couldn't believe it. I even fell the first night I drove it. I even was sweating because of the outfit. I fell in front of her, but I'm training now." 

"This show will also include "Salamin Salamin" and "Gento", but I felt the dance numbers. It was tiring, and couldn't breathe after, I really have to pace myself."

He doesn't want to lost the magic of being intimate because Music Museum is closer. Through you cannot do it in the balcony, you can go around. The last time he did this, people were involved in most of the numbers. It was wild and they would participate. He says "From seniors to 7/8 year old, they were singing, they were game whoever had the mic in front of them. I want to make them feel it's okay to do it. There's something about this that is therapeutic. It's fun, and we started this in 2016, I think that is why there's magic in the show."

Aside from that, they're planning to do a repeat of their previous project called CHOOSING which was staged last July, the difference is that it's going to be done in Quezon City at an even bigger venue. Ice says 'We're planning to do it again soon, this was done previously for pride month, but feel it brought to the next step as it's a mix of comedy, drama and stories of different people from the same community. It's going to be a great way to bridge gaps, to put more people in their shoes in hopes to give them a deeper understanding of what and how we go through things."

Angel Guardian outs DIKO Single Under GMA Records

Mesmerized by her voice, this gorgeous lady named Angel Guardian gave us her brand of music. Honestly, I find it so good as a soundtrack for a youth oriented show. Although it talks of love and relationships, it could pass for other things aside from that, a song of love and hope. She is very talented, appearing in several commercials (including an ice cream brand still airing now), she’s also doing several shows, TV guestings and now a single out from GMA Records.

Angel Guardian sang "Diko" and she shares “I was pressured to make this but when I did it was a chance to be in the music industry and people said it was nice, I became more confident when it was getting attention. I haven’t had voice lessons, I didn’t know a specific style but I just sing when I can. I am planning to improve on it because it is one of my passions. It gives me a different feeling, I also am trying to write new ones and I am getting into the groove. I like Julie Anne, if ever I had the chance I’d love to work with her. I don’t know about Diko that much but I just related it to a situation that I could connect with. It’s about a girl trying to fall inlove with a guy, but it ended up that he told her about another girl he’s falling in love with, it’s a bit hurtful. It was a composed song in the banks of GMA and among the five, I chose two that I felt was in tune with who I am now, to be in the moment. I have already recorded the second single and I am excited about that too, but for the meantime, I hope people would enjoy this. Also, I sing a lot of genres and I can’t pinpoint a particular one which I could only sing. This one is very youthful, very up to date, I love how it sounded so we are releasing this today. For the music video, we will be making one soon. I hope people get to appreciate the song on streaming platforms and also the one we are making soon!”

It was her birthday too!

GMA’s One Hugot Away Presents: Beauty and the Hypebeast

Kelvin Miranda and Angel Guardian for next installment of ONE HUGOT AWAY, it’s called Beauty and the Hypebeast, sounds so cool on paper, but will these two new actors deliver? On June 3, we will know. The first one was quite successful, gone viral in fact so the pressure is in these two even if they are new.

Angel says “I started in commercials and stopped for a while and when I came back two years ago, I tried with GMA and luckily they got me. I did Studio 7, which was so fun even if it was a bit rushed. I am already 20, working full time and J am so glad for the opportunities GMA Artist Center has given me. My first project was with Pamilya Roces and also Onanay. In the One Hugot Away episode, it’ll include a rich and young girl and a young man who is going to be Hypebeast. When we shot this it was so smooth because it’s been 3 years since I knew Kelvin, we didn’t have any problems because there were no inhibitions. Even before when I was doing workshops the director was having fun with me because I needed to play a mean girl. I also sing (and she sang impromptu).”

Right now she’s plotting her music career and wishes to experiment. She likes different genres and idolizes Billie Eilish, she also sees herself doing a lot of music of that kind, a little dark and weird which she likens most of her poems. She also likes Frisbee and Archery which she seriously wants to do even while doing showbusiness. She will also be on Black Lipstick opposite Kyline Alcantara so if you are planning to see her, that may be a good movie to watch out for.

Meanwhile on the other table, Kelvin says “When I dress up and talk, I have to be legitimately hypebeast. We shot most of it in Malate so you get to see people in the same groups doing it, sometimes they are even in the scene. We don’t know if we have given justice to the roles because just like you, we haven’t seen it yet. We are doing the second installment and we hope people would like it. It’s just luck, maybe we are being tried as a loveteam, it’s my first time too so I don’t know because this is my first time paired in a loveteam. All my scenes are also serious so it is a little different from what we have been doing. We did well in the workshop and having lots of projects with GMA Artist Center made me realize all my work has been worth it. I also audition and I think it’s why I get to learn a lot from my projects. The responsibility that goes with projects makes it a little more pressured that usual, but I am glad to have been able to land interesting characters.”

He looks up to John Arcilla and other veteran actors. Seeing their old projects through Netflix makes him so eager to learn from them, he even wishes to at least have scenes from them too. More than the story, the program is about forgiveness, taking away pride and egos, he’ll be seen dishing out usual hugots on scenes and if he misses, it’s because that’s how his character is. He also sings, does a very good job at it too.

Again, watch ONE HUGOT AWAY for the episode Beauty and the Hypebeast on GMA this June 3. It’s going to be shown the same way as the last one (in different times of the day) and online so don’t miss it! This is also directed by Zig Dulay.

Are You Ready for Kinky Boots?!

I haven't had the opportunity to see this yet but I'm raring to go in their Manila staging. Kinky Boots has been praised and received quite well in Broadway on this remarkable creation made with music and lyrics by the phenomenal 80's icon Cindy Lauper based on the book by Harvey Fierstein. Performed mostly by men and women in drag, there's no other musical that would have been able to personify Charlie Price the Milan Stage Manager, Lauren, Nicola and the other cast than by doing it with people with THE ball$ to do so. It already had won a Tony, and Grammy awards so if you think this would be something that you should brush off, you better think again.

In the story, Charlie Price inherited a struggling shoe factory from his Dad and eventually met drag queen Lola and her crew called "Angels" making a new line and later on successfully reviving his business because of the fabulous things they created for them.

These angels exuded the glitz, the glamour and did out of this world performances and needed some people who could do as well in Manila. This is part of the reason why they got professional dancers in the cast, and they sought the greatest ones like AddLib Dancer Mark Pineda, Singer and Actor Gerhard Krysstopher and G Force's Ritz Beltran, Jazztin Cacayan, Michael Jahnke and Jorge Jahnke. This has been very challenging for them as the standards have been automatically raised because of this being a Broadway piece. Not to mention the style of dancing is quite different of what they're generally been used to in shows that they do here in the Philippines. Kinky Boots also needed them to dance in heels, which isn't the norm in most numbers that they do in variety shows or plays they've done in the past. Doing that the whole run is also hard, but it didn't stop them to learn and love this staging... and they'll show you why at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium at the RCBC Tower in Makati.

A visit to their quaint little place in Citygolf Ortigas (beside Home Depot) showed the wide array of choices that they have on their menu. They've got a lot of branches too in Metro Manila! I personally love the chicken toppings; plus the pasta which you can individually order (I'm a PESTO addict) hence the sauce I love YUM!. Ooh the list goes fancy too with Fried Chicken that patrons usually get when they're in the store! I saw a lot of people taking it home that evening, so I'd really like to go back and have another taste of that!

For the cheese connoisseur I suggest you get the Angel's Double Cheesy Melt, for the meat lover I suggest you do the same because aside from this awesome layer... there's another one underneath that's got Pepperoni goodness all around!

It was filling I got so BUSOG right after one slice since this is like 2 Pizzas in one!

For those who would want almost EVERYTHING on it they've got EXTRA FEAST for everyone's enjoyment. That's Pepperroni, Ham, Beef, Chorizo, Green Bell Peppers, Onions, Mushrooms and garlic all in one scrumptious pizza. You'll be the envy of the whole block!

ANGEL'S Pizza Pasta Combo

AZKALS Spanish Striker Angel Aldeguer Guirado

There is a thought that comes to me from my window in the evening as I watch shadows deepen in the long hills of my native land. The popular sport of football has been neglected for decades and it has picked up media mileage in the past year thanks to the awesome good looking half foreign Filipinos that gave this sport a boost that it needs and a manager that knows how to manage the team as it is now. One particular member that I adore in AZKALS is Spanish Striker Angel Aldeguer Guirado. My family hailed from Valencia and he's one proof that even if you are from the suburbs of Spain (Malaga in his case) you can make it anywhere! He has been longing to play for a national team and we are lucky enough that he can play for Spain or the Philippines. The opportunity just came in right so he chose to play here and had remarkable games in the qualifiers (and gave a helluvah an awesome goal against Bangladesh remember?!).

This 26 year old young Spanish-Ilocano guy (with his roots from Ilagan, Isabela) had his adoring fans also in the event. I love how they almost faint at the sight and touch of him! It was so real! He didn't have that much Tagalog words to say but Senor Rafa Reyes took care of that. Despite a very promising career in Spain in the second and third league he still chose to play for the Philippine National team and for that we'll give him credit! I'm sure he will now be represented BEST since they chose THE BEST PR firm in the land... PR ASIA with Ms. Joyce Ramirez on the forefront. All his deals and endorsements come his International career will now go through them and the opportunities have been lined up already according to the one and only Queen B!

This is something to look forward to and I'm sure he'll definitely have a lot of things coming up this year. Given the right projects and endorsements with PRASIA, play and be sought after by everyone in the International soccer scene... he will definitely get there!

P.S. He's actually the real deal uncle of young star Coleen Garcia! She was so gorgeous in person!

This was also the time I saw the one and only Ms. Cecile Van Straten. I was starstruck! She was also with THE divasoria Ms. Grace Velasco and THE Jay Abalos. They were in one room and I couldn't help but be like that at the sight of them! *almost fainted* LOL!

Thank you for everything PRASIA and Ms. Joyce Ramirez! They were the ones that hooked me up to cover PENSHOPPE! (If you haven't seen my famous article HERE IT IS!) and this day is just so unforgettable in my books!
