Buddha Bar Marks 5th Year in the Philippines

Sunday, February 05, 2017

It's been a while since I've been here. I've done a lot of events in nice places and Buddha Bar is definitely up there. The world class interiors, pretty good entertainment, the best cocktails and awesome food choices makes them one of the best in the Philippines, even the world!

They just marked their 5th year in the business and celebrated in a grand way via a "Cabaret Night" a few nights ago. I was so glad to be part of it and witnessed a full with a trio of ladies who'll make world class performers a run for their money, plus several Cancan Dancers to complete the show. I was here during their grand opening and several events after that but they've kept the place quite nice since I've last seen it.

On this photo are executives Carlos Matta - President and CEO of Buddha-Bar Group, Nabil Souhail the Vice-President for Business Development and Operations of Buddha-Bar Group, Ambassador Amable R. Aguiluz V - Chairman of AMA Group of Companies and Buddha-Bar Manila, Tarja Visan - Co-Founder of Buddha-Bar Group and Angelito Agustin - Head of Operations of Buddha-Bar Manila.

Congratulations in your 5th year in the business and we all wish Buddha Bar Manila more success in the coming years!

Cheers!

Buddha Bar Weekend Lunch Grill

Sunday, April 06, 2014

It's so hot outside and you can't concentrate when you wanted to do chores at home. You haven't been going out that much and wanted to treat your family a nice meal. With a very grand interior and cozy seating this place offers, I was off to see Buddha Bar Manila once again! This joint is located in Kalayaan Avenue, Makati City. For starters, I had my favorite drink which is the Buddha Bar Iced Tea!

It's base is Earl Grey tea plus a multitude of fruit juices. I love it with any meal that goes in and out of Buddha Bar's kitchen. Speaking of which, this afternoon was special because we had the Buddha Bar Weekend Lunch Grill pegged at only 899. Is it worth it? TOTALLY. Why? Look at this spread!

The Chef got us salivating over the fresh salads, complete with Romaine, Iceberg and Red and Green Leaf Lettuce. They've go comforting Seafood Chowder, Chicken Salad, Salmon Bites and a lot of variants. Aside from that, they've got some of the best Sushi prepared all for you!

I was trying to limit eating the healthy options that afternoon but there were heavy options on the side of this area. I was bound to have a plate or two. Oh my, but I was so happy!

A Night at Buddha Bar with Parisian Mixologist Mathias Giroud

Wednesday, March 26, 2014

I'm young, wild and free and when it calls for a party, I go out with friends and have a great time with beer, wine or anything mixed in between. It makes the occasion a little better when you get a little loose and your inhibitions a little lower when you get tipsy. Not that I'm saying it's good to drink but everything in moderation is something called for. Best of all, you have a world class Mixologist Mathias Giroud whipping up drink after drink on the bar. It's one that most celebrities do when in Paris so why shouldn't we have that same love in Manila right? :)

He was already behind the counter when I arrived and stirred up his magical concoctions that he says is close to art. We understood by the way he presented it in a real deal palette.

He pays real close attention to detail. This one was served for me and I loved it!

It's watermelon, vodka (I think), some liqueur and a slight hint of Ylang ylang, the flower that they use to make Chanel No.5. He's making this on top of his head without a recipe on display.

Cocktail Festival 2014 at Buddha-Bar Manila

Wednesday, March 19, 2014

If you are going out this weekend and haven't decided yet where to get drinks and glorious food, then you might be just in luck!

Mathias Giroud, Master of Mixology has been around the world and now is gracing Manila's Buddha Bar from March 19-22. I'll be there on the 22nd so if you're around please say hi!

Buddha Bar is the most posh establishment in Makati. It's not one of those run of the mill joints you usually see on celebrity events, they're way better than that. It's also huge that you can have cocktails downstairs, privy conversations on the basement, chill by the pool on the top floor or just have lunch with family and friends on the second floor. It's the best place I'm telling you and you'll feel how cozy it is to be there when you try it. Trust me, it's the best!

Buddha-Bar Manila is at Picar Place, Kalayaan Avenue, Makati City. You can visit their website www.buddhabarmanila.com or call +632 856 6859/+632 856 6719.

Buddha Bar Means Business: Lunch That Is!

Thursday, July 25, 2013

I've been to Buddha Bar in Makati a couple of times now and it's nothing but absolute poshness in one place and I can't believe there's such a thing in the Philippines. From it's impeccable interiors and grandioso bar, couches, private rooms and dining tables.. it's something that I always want to be in every time I'm within the district. Nothing can match this place when it comes to food too and I've had a glimpse of that during business lunch a couple of days ago. I had to have my favorites too because this is heaven... just take a look at this!

I had the signature Buddha Bar Iced Tea first because they know this is my favorite... did you know this one is served around the world? Buddha Bar has restaurants in Paris, Dubai, Monte Carlo, Keiv and this one in Manila... everything in it is pre approved by management in Paris so you are sure you're only getting the best if you are in Buddha Bar.

I was here specifically for this, to try out the BUSINESS LUNCH which they are offering now. Judging from the menu, it was all special and I couldn't wait to see the soups and main course which kinda tickled my fancy.

Executive Chef Soc Santos even appeared to take care of logistics and explained the menu. She took time telling us how this is the perfect marriage of Asian flavors and French flare. It triggers emotions, it can make you fall in love. This is a business lunch but it definitely brought more than just that.

Case in point:

This is Mushroom Cappuccino. It was a warm afternoon but it was cold inside Buddha Bar, it was just the right amount of warmth I was expecting to have for lunch. The foam made the soup quite light. The soup itself had bits of mushroom and because of it, it had a very earthy flavor all throughout. Dark, thick, but must be taken hot so you can appreciate how it is just as Chef Soc wants you to experience it.

This one is the Salad Mesclun with Tropical Fruits. Fresh, a combination of crunchy veggies, leafy greens and sweet fruits and drizzled with light oil based dressing and balsamic vinegar. I wanted this whole bowl on my own but you can definitely have this shared. Pretty basic looking but this is a hit with me.

Take a look at this.... the Butterflied Salmon Fillet. It's slowly caramelized the Salmon meat while on the grill then served with a side of Teppanyaki Sauce placed on a bed of Asian Cream Pasta and a few pieces o snow peas. This is so comforting. Do I really need to convince you to order this one? LOL

This is my favorite among those that were served that afternoon. This is the Chinese Style Chicken. This is also said to be the owner's favorite. I couldn't blame him why. It's juicy, crunchy and had good flavor. The noodles that came with it, was superb! I don't eat noodles on regular occasions but this one was AWESOME I even had to have more!

There's no iconic snack than old Fish and Chips in the UK and what better way to present something western but putting in your own Asian touch with the fish in the center and a serving of spuds on the side cut up au naturelle. I love the combination and it was served so piping hot I felt like I was in the British district. A splash of lemon on the crunchy batter oh don't get me started. Loved it!

Tempura Wok Fried Vegetables had all the crunch and all the nutritious treats you want in one plate. Healthy, not that oily and very filling without the guilt. It's something I'd like my lady to have if on a date. I guess if she's not a steak person this is definitely worth it!

Game Over! Here's Buddha-Bar Manila!

Three floors of exquisite and posh interiors. Source of entertainment, parties and all things nice of which you would only dream of. This is world renowned BUDDHA BAR.

Known as the place where Hollywood stars, European celebrities and everyone who's anyone converge. If you need to relax, unwind and have heavenly food whilst chatting with friends and family, then this is the place to be. It's also the biggest branch compared to the others around the world so just imagine how this massive posh place is going to be the place to be in a few days. If you think the bar you're currently going to is nice, you surely haven't been to Buddha Bar. Let's take a look around shall we? =)

 How to get there

Screenshot from Google Maps. Honestly I am actually well oriented with the Makati Avenue area. Since Buddha Bar is along Kalayaan Avenue which is a one way street, you need to go there by turning left to Jupiter Steet, turning right on Nicanor Garcia and turning right again on Kalayaan Avenue. Buddha Bar will be on the left side of the road and it's beside the PICAR Residences development. You won't miss it because it's got that sign on the photo above. It's pretty big unless you have eye problems. They have ample amount of parking and have Valet if you need it. Then I was floored to see what was inside.
