RENEWPLUS Medical Aesthetic Clinic Opens at The LORETO Tower in Makati

Saturday, June 14, 2025

Spent the afternoon at the Renewplus Medical Aesthetics clinic over at the 2nd Floor of The Lerato Tower 3 in Malugay, Makati City. As the name suggests, it's a place to get your treatments done. This means a lot, and we got to talk to Dr. Paul Francis Verano about it. He says "Renewplus is about cutting edge treatments and wellness services. It's a place to renew, reimagine and radiate. This is put up by businessman John Bilaos and offers a full line of treatments, laser and body procedures designed to only enhance your natural beauty. We aim to make your beauty goals achieved in a cost effective way."
They conceptualized it in early 2024 since the place needed one. Now together with Dr. Verano's team, they can do what you need to look and feel good. If it's about skin, your body, ears, scars, this place is equipped with the needed tools to get it done fast and safe. Dr. Yap told us a few procedures they do including Hollywood Spectra, laser peels to exfoliate pigmentations in areas you need to clear out. Lutronic Ultra on the other hand resurfaces skin with Thulium Laser, good for uneven skin tones and textures. They also have UltraGlo for the face and neck area, if you've got problems in these areas of sagging. They also do threads. RF microneedling, Coolite Bolt hair removal, and more if needed.

Here's a little tour of the clinic:

Here's a short interview we did with Dr. Paul Francis Verano about the clinic and the services they offer:

Visit them at the 2nd floor of THE LORETO Makati Tower 3. This is in the Malugay area of Makati. If you have skin procedures needed to be done, this is certainly a great place to start. Visit their social channels to inquire or know more about their procedures.

Dr. Carl Balita Launches New Show "PLATAPORMA"

Saturday, November 09, 2024

One of the most hardworking persons I know, Dr. Carl E. Balita is at it again as he hosts a new show called "PLATAPORMA" set to be shown on DZME, The Manila Times, and Dr. Carl's social channels starting this November 8th, from 5-6 PM. He will be up close, and very personal with his lineup of guests, much of which are political aspirants with a no holds barred format so you get to know who they are, what they stand for on issues that affect the country.

Dr..Carl says "The show is tough, direct to the point, no holds barred and taped as live. Whatever the politicians say, it will appear on the show as they said it. We make it a point to use Tagalog as medium, and we have 200 other channels this content will go to. We plan to put this where they are and hope this reaches the people we need to be educated."

He adds "As a victim (of previous elections), I ask my guests what their proof is about their love for the country. I have hope, to bring you to your feet and contribute to change, and be part of the solution. In the next coming episodes, we will have the element of the public, and my questions will be derived from their platforms, and I will challenge that with data. When you see this, I ask the most difficult questions. I've been there and done that, and with Clarita Carlos will join me at a certain point. We might have this in universities live, hopefully soon. I suspend judgement, I wanna ask them their knowledge about the role of being in the Senate. You cant run and just learn about it when you're already there."

Here's our short talk with him before one of his shoots, please listen!

The show will also have several portions batting their proof with hard data, and one that includes questions from the public and a time for them to do an honest confessional in the last bit. Dr. Carl will also be having Professor Carlota Carlos as co-host, to also help with going into the nitty gritty of their political questions as needed.

This is indeed an entertaining format, but be assured that he's doing this for the sake of VOTERS EDUCATION, one that is sincerely needed in this country of ours. There's talk of more channels in the pipeline where they plan to show this, so stay tuned!

Turning NURSES to MOVIESTARS: "SIGLO NG KALINGA" on PNA's Centennial Celebration

Sunday, October 09, 2022

Just got off the MOA signing of "SIGLO NG KALINGA" at the Philippine Nurses Association grounds this evening in Benitez Street in Manila. It was officiated by PNA officials, executives of Dr. Carl Balita Productions (CBP), Director Lemuel Lorca and nurses from around the country. This evening was all about the life of Anastacia Giron Tupas (AGT), the founder of PNA and how they are making headway in producing the film showcasing the dedication, service, passion and professionalism of Filipino nurses worldwide.

Governor Melvin Miranda, the current President of the Philippine Nurses Association says "Thank you to our past Presidents, and to regional leaders present here this evening. When Dr. Balita threw in the idea of doing a film, we were looking on how the life of AGT will be appreciated. Anastacia and her legacy in PNA is inspiring, at this day, we can inspire more Filipino nurses and connect to generations of them, and I'm glad they appreciate our endeavor to hopefully be learned from grassroots level; especially to nurses, and learn our mission and core values. We appreciate the partnership, thank you!"

Dr. Carl Balita also announced that national artist for film RICKY LEE as consultant for the film. For this project, he wants to put together the best of the best in Philippine cinema. He says "I am also considering Rocco Nacino, Kuh Ledesma, Princess Punzalan, Carol Banawa, different artists who are real nurses, and let them do cameos so we can concentrate on nurses we will get in the casting call. Angeli Bayani will be conducting workshops, as she's an internationally acclaimed actress. In other words, I want our nurses to be involved, also in the poster making and theme song writing contest. I believe we have very talented nurses, and we might ask Kuh Ledesma to help us in singing the song. The film will be seen on May 2023, and target international film festivals and I promise you we will have them in different festivals like Sundance, Toronto, and major film festivals. This is the best film I will ever produce, and I'm challenging everyone involved to do their best as well.

Dr. Carl Balita adds "I want this to be a legacy film to be watched by the public so they would understand the heroism involved in our line of work. We need to communicate the call for the cast, we need them to be part of the film. All of whom need to be nurses."

They are doing a casting call specific for nurses 20-60yo, registered who would be available for a shoot (2 weeks straight) with a 5 day acting workshop on October 12-20 from 10am to 12pm and 1-4pm on zoom. They will also be doing a Theme Song and Poster Making contest for the film depicting the work of Filipinos worldwide and the life of Anastacia Giron Tupas, the founder of PNA. You may send entries before November 26, 2022, you may email drcarlbalitaproductions@gmail.com for more details. This is also in celebration of PNA's Centennial Anniversary, a historic and momentous occasion.

If you're a nurse and want to be part of this, you know what to do!

Boy Abunda Endorses AMA OEd Master's and PhD Programs

Friday, November 29, 2019

AMA was a dream school since the 90's. Everyone who wanted to be in the IT school if they wanted to work in the industry. They have long been the institution that only provides that, because these days they've already grown to be a full blown University offering different courses to Filipinos here and abroad. As you may have known, they have been offering AMA University Online Education for years now via amauonline.com. In a recent study, around 38% of college graduates earn more than non college grads in the country. Being equipped with a diploma gives a better chance for an individual to land a good paying job and yes, they have been able to produce graduates here and around the globe by providing courses apt for OFW's and ordinary joes, so really there is no reason not to get proper education these days.

AMA University Online Education also offers Senior High for new enrollees, ALS passers and trasferees too. It gave a lot of people access to education even in the comforts of their own home. Today at a press conference in Greenhills, they just announced the availability of AMA OEd Master's and PhD programs with their new spokesperson Dr. Eugenio "Boy" Abunda. Oh, and before I forget, he's going to be part of the academe. The affair was also witnessed by AMA Department heads and executives, members of the media and tons of TV stations.

AMAOED CEO Christopher Satulan adds "Welcome to everyone. We are happy he accepted to be our endorser, when we started 5 years ago we didn't know how this would be accepted. Today we understand how Filipinos have the hunger of finishing their education and also further it. We are so glad Dr. Abunda is going to be part of it."

Tito Boy Abunda as most friends and colleagues call him, has a Bachelors degree in Communication Arts from PWU, and earned a Masters of Arts degree and also conferred a Doctorate Degree for Philosophy in Social Development.

Tito Boy says "When I started hosting I didn't finish my studies, I forgot that I had no diploma because I was busy working. I promised this to my mom and dad, I graduated a few years after and I went for my masters after a few years. I was supposed to interview in Cebu when I had to defend my thesis. My adviser and I met in a bar because it was the only thing open that time. During that time I had the luxury of having an adviser. I was questioned a lot about it and I agreed with their observation back then, and I wanted to do the corrections that same instant. They agreed and I continued, they gave me my grades and I passed. For my Doctors degree, it was super difficult because it was consultative. Defending that, had so much of a burden. In AMA you can defend it online. In my experience it was scary and sacred, it had to be new and included maternal love as a tool. It got me broken, I almost backed out, but I realized I had to finish it as a last step. I didn't even need to because I had a good job, I just came prepared and the experience was embedded in my system. I continue to bear that until now. When they spoke to me after that defense, Dr. Manalili told me I was going back to my core. To be aware about the presence of my parents in my life. He was happy I defended it, but he wanted the spirit of my work to show because it was maternal love. I encourage everyone to go for it, even if I talk about showbusiness or social issues, education can broaden your perspective about everything. You start from not knowing, and that journey is education. This can give it to you at your pace, and at the end of it you will carry it til the end. Thank you for the opportunity."

Ms. Mikah Colingo the Sales and Marketing Head for AMAOED "We have a series of programs in IT, Computer Education, BA and Public Administration. Doctorate degrees for IT as well..The usual TOR, Diploma, is needed... it is affordable. It could cost around 4k per subject. It depends on the units."

No matter how young you are, wherever you are in the world, as long as you have access to the internet, you can learn at your own pace, get that AMA OEd Masters and PhD programs from AMA University. If you have inquiries about the courses and fees, just go to amauonline.com and chat with their representatives. They also have email and social channels, all you have to do is ask. Is it time for you to further your career? Finish that degree and get a masters/PhD? The time is now!

The Good Doctor, The Resident on the Fox+ App

Sunday, September 30, 2018

Hey couch potatoes! How you doin?

Well, I’m here to give you good news. I’m sure if you have cable TV you’ve seen some commercials each time a show takes a break, it’s all about The Good Doctor or The Resident. I have seen the whole season of The Good Doctor and mind if I tell you, Freddie Highmore is just so good playing the part of a medical doctor that’s got autism. They explained it well on how he makes every case a detailed discovery and how he as a genius continue to practice the profession and prove those who doubt him wrong.

The Resident on the other hand talks about office politics and how it could affect the community. It stars Matt Czuchry who also starred in one of my favorite series Gilmore Girls (and The Good Wife). It would be a very interesting story to tell if the operations of a new Chastain Park Memorial Hospital falls in his hands. Will he be goody two shoes or will he be doing an overhaul and manage it in his style or will this be a different story.

If you wanna watch, download the Fox+ App on Google Play and the App Store now and subscribe. You can also try it out for a month if you are first time users. I downloaded the episodes so even when I’m offline I could still watch it while travelling.

Unusual Areas that Liposuction can Fix

Monday, March 19, 2018

Liposuction is a highly popular types of plastic surgery that allows you to reshape certain areas of the body for a more fit and healthy appearance. Given the popularity of this plastic surgery, you may want to know about some of the more unusual areas that liposuction can treat, as the standard treatment areas of the hips, thighs, arms, and stomach aren't the only places on the body that this procedure can be used with. If you want to reshape a specific area of your body to improve your contours, liposuction could be the right treatment for you.

What is Liposuction?

Liposuction is a type of procedure that's used to reshape portions of the body through the direct removal of any fat deposits that are unnecessary. The end goal for this treatment is to make the treatment area slimmer with better contours and proportions. It's a very simple and straightforward procedure, which means that it can be readily used in many areas across the body, allowing you to remove excess fat in practically any location. In most cases, you will only need to go through one treatment of liposuction in order to see results.

Given that this is one of the more popular plastic surgery procedures available, the results have become consistent and the procedure is known to be safe, which means that the risks of obtaining this treatment are minimal. You should also be aware of the fact that this procedure can't act as a method for you to lose a high amount of weight. To obtain the best results with this treatment, it's important that you exercise regularly and eat well.

What Does the Liposuction Procedure Involve?

Once you've scheduled your liposuction appointment, the first step to the procedure involves the administration of one of the three types of anesthesia, which can include general anesthesia, local anesthesia, or intravenous sedation. While the choice is entirely up to you, a general anesthesia affects the entire body and causes you to lose consciousness during the treatment, while the other two types of anesthesia will only numb the treatment area. It's widely recommended that you obtain general anesthesia if the treatment you're receiving is extensive.

Once you've received some form of anesthesia, small incisions will be made around the treatment area. The placement of these incisions largely depends on where on the body you want the liposuction procedure to take place. Given the fact that many areas across your body qualify for this treatment, it's impossible to identify the exact incision placement. When the incisions have been made, a tiny tube will be placed through the incision to loosen the fat, after which this fat will be suctioned throughout a unique type of vacuum. The incisions will finally be closed with sutures after the appropriate amount of fat has been removed. You will begin to notice the results of this treatment as the swelling lessens in the treatment area.

What Are Some Unusual Areas That Liposuction Can Treat?

The core areas of the body that liposuction is designed to treat include the thighs, hip, arms, and stomach, but this procedure can be used on many additional portions of the body. Although not as common as some of the other treatment areas, it's possible to obtain a liposuction for your back, especially if you notice the presence of back rolls. Despite how little this procedure is used on the back, this area of the body works well with liposuction due to how thick the skin is. For men, this procedure can be used on the chest when suffering from a mild case of gynecomastia. Other unusual areas of the body that this procedure can be used with include the upper abdomen and the legs.

What to Expect When Recovering From Liposuction

Once the liposuction procedure is completed, you may be required to wear small bandages or a compression garment in order to keep the swelling down. Your plastic surgeon will provide you with some specific guidelines to ensure that the recovery process is a smooth one. The time it takes for you to recover from this procedure can depend on how extensive the treatment was. If the area where the liposuction occurred is a small one, the swelling and small amounts of bleeding may dissipate in a matter of a few weeks. For larger treatment areas, be prepared for the swelling to be visible for a couple of months. If ever the swelling worsens or doesn't dissipate when you thought it would, call your plastic surgeon immediately.

Dr. Jason Altman is a plastic surgeon who has been double board certified with a focus on surgery around the body and breasts. The primary procedures that he provides include breast augmentation, breast lift, liposuction, and tummy tuck procedures. Dr. Hayden Kho, Dr. Edinell Calvario for "Healing Galing" on TV5

Thursday, January 22, 2015

Healing Galing Hayden Kho

Have you heard of "Healing Galing"? It's that famous eastern medical show heard on radio by no other than Dr. Edinell Calvario. It's now going to be on TV and she's going to be joined by the good looking Dr. Hayden Kho. He says "We are going to talk about Eastern and Western Medicine. We'll be having discussions on natural alternative medicine mine would be classic western. There's only one show of this kind in the other channel but we're going to have case studies and we'll talk about it, like two ways of assessing problems. I'll talk to doctors, treatments and she'll present alternative medicine. It'll be closer to The Doctors which is a show in the US. It's already a successful radio show and I'm co hosting on TV. I think they think it's easier for a doctor to talk to another doctor. Sometimes it's not easy to interpret things, jargons, and I'm going to be giving you layman's terms. If we have conflicts, there will always be middle ground.

Healing Galing Hayden Kho

That includes cancer therapies, and we'll show their options. We'll see on what will fit with both cases and we'll invite doctors on the show. There are tons of specialists, we're not going to have the monopoly here. We're going to have opinions from doctors themselves and the patients. We're going to be a balance of both worlds. It's going to start this January 19, thirty minutes, there might be some personal and emotional things in between, we'll still talk about that. As much as possible we're going to try to be generic, but we can't help if there are sponsors. I think if anything, it will fortify my knowledge.

Healing Galing Hayden Kho

I was in a limbo for several years and I'll be refreshed here, people will seem me again as a doctor. I hope I can get to be a contribution to the show as this is a blessing for me. The very fact that we invite them to the show, we're humbling ourselves to experts. We honor the limits of our knowledge. We adore experienced doctors and we're going to translate the jargons so people would better understand it." He adds "I had hesitations accepting the show in the beginning because I didn't want to go back to show business, although I wasn't specific about that. I asked how long the show would last and they told me all about it. It was feasible to do with the other things that I want to do. I'm glad to say my fragrances are going to be nationally distributed via Ever Bilena and that's my entrepreneurial side, other investments are there. I want to also go back to anti aging medicine and take the boards  again. Evangelism is of course my priority." and he hopes you get to watch the show on TV5!
