April 15 is going to be a little different. Next gen reporters will do STAND FOR TRUTH , all for 15 weeks. It is a program produced by GMA News and Public Affairs, funded by Youtube. They are an Innovation Fund Recepient.
This is promising as Richard Heydarian, Atom Araullo, Joyce Pring will be at the helm of the show. Field reporters include real young blood millennials, even Gen Z personalities namely Bhea Jeem Docyogen who is a proud Igorot and radio disc jockey from Baguio, Anthony Esguerra a smart reporter and fellow in New Media and Journalism at Ball State University, Indiana, USA, Asmarie Labao a former forester and DENR Information Officer from Marawi, Ardo Miravalles a Certified Public Account specializing in media and entertainment, Darwin Quirino a Communications Officer for Department of Foreign Affairs-Office of Middle East and African Affairs, Manal Sugadol, a licensed English teacher and a former administrative assistant from Cotabato, Larize Lee a Filipino-Chinese and former GMA Artist Center Public Relations Executive, the youngest of which is 17yo Eduard Faraon who is a Senior High School campus journalist and Jerald Uy a former TV reporter, Road Safety Advocate and vlogger. These guys and gals are just starting, so stay tuned as they unfurl their work on GMA’s online properties.
Atom says “They have undergone training with stellar names in journalism even people behind the camera to make these stories. It was a very strong field, 150 submissions and we had to pick 10 from it. They are young but not naive reporters and I can’t want to see them evolve. I would say it would be a waste of talent if we do not maximize the story telling talent of these reporters and journalists. The platform becomes bigger and bigger, it is not just for this organization. Anyone can upload content but there are lots of potential. The format is evolving, we want it to be fresh and different from television, visual but it is a daily show.”
Richard Heydarian adds “I was inspired when they pitched this to me, I got to know these people, I am a teacher by heart and these guys and gals are the cream of the crop. We are now talking about how to make this a team, to make this a gold standard for the region. We have a tough battle, but very confident in the team, we can sync productions so we could get more. We do not want this to be seasonal, these things can work, we hope this goes beyond what we are doing today.”
Joyce Pring says “Right now I am trying to manage my time, from Unang Hirit to events, to hosting in the evening then Unang Hirit again (sometimes sleeps in the car), but I have personal block-offs for time for family and since I am covering music I’ll be in Saguijo one day and the Balloon Festival this afternoon. It is going to be my content, I get to talk to the people behind the bands and events I have to cover. It is not a set of tasks because this is ever evolving, we have a lot of stories to tell. We have youtube as partners, so the reach will be massive.”
The show starts this Monday on GMA News and Public Affairs online channels (GMA’s website and GMA’s Youtube channel) on April 15 at 8PM. You should watch it if you want to Stand for Truth.
Rocco Nacino and Pacho Magno are very fine actors from GMA Network. You give them a role, they do above and beyond what is asked for them. I am so proud to see the fruits of their labor, especially Rocco who’s already starting to build his dream house - a thing he’s been planning all these years and he is personally attending to it whilst doing several shows in the Kapuso Network. Pancho Magno on the other hand did handy work of several fantasy series (like Victor Magtanggol) and villain character roles - whilst freshly married to gorgeous Max Collins from the same network. This time though, these gentlemen are donning their real life hats, bith are health professionals and registered nurses. Surprised?
The two are hosting new health related TV shows in partnership with the Department of Health. Pancho Magno will be with his wife Max Collins to host Healthily Ever After to discuss family health topics like planning, maternal care, safe motherhood, newborn care, breastfeeding, immunization and adolescent health care. Rocco on the other hand will be doing The Healthy Juan which discusses mental health, depression, healthy aging and organ donation. Here’s our short interview with the good looking guys from GMA:
Healthily Ever After will show 5:30PM every Saturday whilst The Healthy Juan starts at 8PM every Sunday, go follow GMA Artist Center channels so you can get updates on their topics every week!
It's a documentary series from BBC but in the Philippines, it will be narrated by premier actor, GMA Primetime King and host Dingdong Dantes. The press conference was hosted by Arianne Bautista and to start off, they wanted us to know that they are making this as their newest infotainment content in GMA.
In the series, we will get to know quite a numbered of endangered species, how they live, survive in different places, even in the city. They are also inserting interviews of subject matter experts, people who are on the ground at the marine protected sanctuaries.
He says "This would have been a project for Betong but he was so bust in out of the country shows hence me on the show. This is going to show stories of animals, our environment, we are not alone and there are tons of things we need to discover. We co exist with animals, they live and breathe like us and we need to clean up our own act. This is like what I do in teleseryes but it has a different fulfillment in delivering a message through this narrative. Like the viewers, I am learning with them as well, I become entertained and informed. As for directing Marian, I don't want to do that because she's big, I know her capacity as an actress. I am not sure yet on when that will be done, but she is loved by her previous directors because she doesn't have any qualms about her craft. She's unbelievable. I received flowers from her, and we'll spend our few days in Palawan soon."
He adds "As a narrator, it has been done in BBC and shot in 5 years, we need to interpret this and make it our own - and I think we did that. The aim is to make this experience for a family every Sunday at 6:10pm. This had a lot of firsts, they employed 4K videos so all the details can be seen clearly. On June 24 I'll be in Singapore, there will be other Kapuso artists with me too. There are plans of another series, something to be done this year. We also have plans to do two movies, but don't have details yet. We'll announce as soon as we get word. As for the show, our interviewees tell their own stories. We are very excited to bring you this June 17 an Amazing Earth."
So for those who would want to have fun while learning a lot, make this Sunday a special day with your family and friends by watching worthwhile videos on Amazing Earth at 6pm. You've missed him I'm sure so this would be a good thing to watch before you head on to next week. Your kids would become genius too LOL!
I think he's the naughtiest boy in Philippine TV but it looks like he's already all over the boob tube, print and digital media. It's an opportune time to make use of his good looks and quirky personality, so GMA News TV is putting him on a new show called VINTAGE TRIP.
As the title implies, the 30 minute TV program features vintage rarities and his travels across the country as he tries to find the most unique stories behind these items. He will be telling the stories in easy, understandable Filipino context so it would easily be understood by those who watch the show.
Sam says "Our goal is to make sense of all the things we forgot, of stories we've long didn't know and hopefully to deliver it in a manner that would be understood by the Filipinos. It's going back to the roots, where everything started. TV, Cellphones, Laptops, would change in two years. We want to give life to old things so we can connect the past to the future. We've shot about 5 episodes already and are ready to do more. We talk to people, we get to hear them explain why these old things hold value and give meaning to them. We also will touch about Philippine history and hopefully the world will get a glimpse of how it all happened. I like trips, I'm adventurous, I like talking to collectors. I think every collection have their own stories. It's very personal and people put effort in it because it's passion."
The show will start this October 29 and will air every Saturday 11:30AM to 12:00PM. This is produced by Olmenak and as mentioned will be viewed on GMA News TV.
Tonight sparks Bea Binene's 18th birthday and last week, we were at her grand press conference to see a glimpse of what was about to happen tonight. Bea was indeed happy with the arrangements and judging from the reactions they got from the past few episodes of her show in GMA News TV every Saturday at 11:30AM, she's going to have grand time even though this is an intimate birthday party at the Manila Hotel. #LegallyB is all about her journey to womanhood, she'll also be doing a lot of firsts and share them via this video diary together with her showbiz friends, relatives, and family.
Check out this video we recorded during the event:
Aside from the debut, Bea Binene also launched her own perfume line. It's available in all kiosks of Arctic Rituals Fragrance Library. Some are in SM stores, and it also smelled nice. I hope you could wait for updates about her birthday, I heard there will be some close celebrity friends coming. As for the escort, we have to wait and see.
Bea Binene has been in the industry for quite some time now. Her past projects has proved that the young star's success is not just a fluke, but a testimony that she's got a strong following and people believe in her that much. She's turning 18 in a couple of weeks and she wants to make this journey memorable, and inclusive. She wants you to see her journey, her preparations for the big day. She's also going to do good with her time and become a responsible citizen by going through the rituals of government registrations, voting, getting her own drivers license, and all the nice things an 18 year old enjoys.
She's also putting a gamble on this as she's producing the show. Her Mom, her friends, her family will all be helping how to put up this project and they're all optimistic about how a more personal, more lovely side of Bea would come to be an interesting subject to talk about at GMA News TV's morning block. Bea promises a more raw, diary like show that would inspire not just her fans but teens and everyone else to be good examples for the next generation. This show already started last Saturday and we watched it. It was pretty good and I like the part where even her Mom gets involved in it. Here's Bea Binene inviting you to watch the show!
Happy birthday Bea! I'm sure your fans are equally excited about your show and would sternly watch it this Saturday morning. Her GMA co-stars and friends will also be there. She also divulged that she's not going to have an escort on this occasion, find out why on the show.
We've met a really good bunch of people from LUV U PET, the new pet show that premiered last week on GMA News TV. At The Farm in BGC, we talked to the hosts Jamie Fournier, Lestre Zapanta and their producer Ms. Claire Delfin.
Ms. Claire is a seasoned broadcaster on GMA. You've probably seen her in different programs and news shows on the same channel. Now, she's ventured into something that is pretty close to her heart. This spurred from time she met Lestre Zapanta who's also known to be the Pinoy Dog Whisperer. Aside from having a very interesting life story, he's gone through a lot of things before he became who he is today. Jamie Fournier on the other hand is a DJ and I've seen her do some shows on Sundays in RJ. She's like a staple in my home because my Dad takes over the TV when they're playing 60's songs in that station. Ms. Claire told us they got her to put a balance on the show. Jamie provides that inquisitive regular pet lover point of view so the show won't turn behavioral science even if they'll delve into that too. By the way, this is primarily a pet show so they won't be just talking about cats and dogs. Some way, some how they'll also talk to people who have exotic ones as well.
Ms. Claire says "I'm the humble Producer of the show. We're very grateful for Nelson Canlas for organizing this, and The Farm for offering their place to hold this intimate event. This is Meg Penloza which is our Executive Producer, she's part of countless shows on GMA. Here's our Segment and Episode Producers RC Formales, Marielle who are also veteran producers in the same network. I'm very happy to also introduce to you Jamie Fornier and Lestre Zapanta. Lestre is the dog behavior expert and he's got a strong following in the Philippine dog and pet community. I think we still have a lot of things to improve as far as the perception goes in pet ownership and that is what I think we should address too. There is more to be a pet owner, which is why we made this.
We will be doing more features about all pets including Askals and Aspins. It's one year in the making, a long time where we sat down and made the concept. It was easy to produce but it was a little hard to find sponsors, more so for new producers like me who independently finance the show. We're glad that Pet Express joined us and they're going to have they're own segment on the show. We've also partnered with Francis M Clothing company, Chevrolet and other minor sponsors. I have other plans for more shows but I think the most abused segment of society is pets. It's still far from the ideal level of understanding, that there is a sense of responsibility for owning them. I've seen it myself and experienced it. I believe when you want to promote love, show and teach it, you should show the positive light of it when seen on TV so there would be positive reinforcement. It's not just those kids who get bitten when shown in news programs on TV. The other shows that we have are still there but this is going to be our first show to be aired on GMA News TV.
It's Lestre whom I saw in Brigada (a former show) about dog behavior interventions and the response of the public was a little overwhelming. There is a demand for information so he was the one we thought of when this materialized. It was supposed to be reporters together with him but we couldn't because of limitations in GMA News. Nelson helped me find a person to harmonize the show, to put some light, a different dynamic in the show. I'm a little revolutionary, so we found someone good for the show. Her credentials, her image, she's a teacher and it's a big thing to pull this off so we had to have her here rather than an already established celebrity.
There are 10 Million households who have pets, so you see the potential of the show. This is for them to understand more about our dogs, We just need someone to understand how we should practice it and have real people be trained, not just their pets. We try as much as possible to be encompassing in the variety of animals and we're showing more real soon. We're showing how to take care of pets and we'll present the information in our culture and setting so you're going to understand it easily."
"We'll incorporate the dogs that used to live on the streets to pure breeds and see how we can see how we are in a pinoy setting. I just had to intervene so they know how to read their dogs, to pull obedience on them. I learned this for years, I've learned this because I wasn't well off and because I had a broken family. Dogs behave as to what you want them to be, don't name your dogs that would be opposite their breed, temperament or persona. Unconsciously, they take the behavior as accorded by their name. The get spoiled, they bite people because the owners do it for them. I get bitten once a year too but it's not because of the dogs, but because of the owners reacting to their pets, that's where people usually get in trouble. They need to observe their pets and know when and how to stop them from misbehaving by properly leading. Some dogs behave on the first session, but what's really harder is to train the owners. That is the bigger problem. The moment they shift the way of interacting with the dog, that's where they change the memory. If you train them to do something and wait for it, the dogs would understand. There should also be more laws for the welfare of the pets as I know how hard their work sometimes. Just like you, I don't want to see my dogs suffer even on commercials. We'll discuss a lot of them on our show." Lestre Zapanta adds.
When asked if she gets overwhelmed by all of these, Jamie says "Not really, because I'm really learning as well. I have a dog and I've got a lot of things I learn from the show, and also learn a lot from Lestre. Exposure to him and how he treat his dogs, I'm being trained. He even told me that I'm the hard kind of person to train, that I have to bear with my own pet. I'm one of the pet owners who probably have dogs who would just bark when others would be just quiet on the side. I don't know how to do it with Chase (her dog) but by the end of it he says I'd be able to do it with my own dog." which seems quite promising.
Good thing there are companies like Pet Express, Francis M. Clothing Company, and other sponsors that would help them achieve this. Oh,before I forget, thanks to them I got to taste the burger over at The Farm (in BGC 4th Ave, which I think serves only purely organic food) and the yummy Belgian Chocolate cake of Honey Glaze Cake (09228279848/09209525166).
It's something new, something experimental but if you think about it, it all makes sense. This program will help countless pet owners around the country. It will make it easier for them to properly take care of their lovable cuddly furballs who are just as loved as family.
Here's their official music video!
Luv U Pet shows on GMA News TV (Channel 11) every Saturday from 4-4:30 PM. It's the only pet show on TV now, you better watch it!
If you've been watching him in TV5 these past few months and thinking of what happened to his show, well it looks like he's bearing good news. An afternoon at the Crispy Pata haven Livestock Restaurant and Bar at Sgt. Esguerra in Quezon City answered all our questions about Philip The Lifestyle Guy. This time, you'll be seeing him in GMA News TV Channel 11 and it'll be called "Fun with Philip".
Philip Abadicio has been doing this beat for years even when he started putting up his PR company a long time ago; and part of that's dealing with lifestyle. It was at this time that he deemed it his calling. His mantra is to make this show as accessible to everyone as he believes lifestyle news isn't just for the rich and famous.
Asked if they are reformatting the show, Philip says that in a recent survey in Inquirer shows that the reason why the program works is because it is in a "constant state of flux" - meaning that it does not have a specific formula and you don't know if they'll talk about food today or if a contest will happen. They will be doing the same thing once they transfer to GMA News TV but looks forward to add more features like asking people who watch the show to send in letters of their lifestyle issues so they can help in whatever way they can.
Online and on air, they will still continue to bring bigger and better contests for the viewers because they've already gotten a tremendous amount of people following their promos. They will also introduce "Fun Kicks" - a group of individuals that would be able to accurately answer your questions since Philip wants this to be a more informative show. We also do sometimes forget that we need to course our program to a more holistic one - and advocacy aspect to answer questions about spiritual, fitness, fashion and beauty.
The show will air at 3PM every Saturday and Sunday. You can only do so much to surprise people but Philip says he wants to do that and not bore those who watch his show. He hopes to show how it is out there and have them experience it themselves. Philip adds "We're trying to not have it to be too celebrity-ish and put real people in the show. When it come to the other aspects, I'll try to have it be discussed by subject matter experts themselves. This is a new and exciting show!". The show is Directed by Tootoots Leyesa and Written by former Wowowee head writer Rod Divinagracia who was in Boracay and couldn't be there that afternoon.
Watch out also for the new segments "Kwentuhang Kumot" where Philip interviews stars under the sheets. Also in the program is American Jeffrey Whitney that he'll tour and taste with around the Philippines while interviewing him in Filipino. Lucky Mercado will also be in "Lucky Strikes" as the goes around the places where Philip is... and plays an arrogant machismo driven dude - let's see how that turns out in the story. I've also seen Madam Venus tell street dwellers their fortunes and that was hilarious... she's the next Mommy D! Let Bryan Santos also teach you the latest workout and fitness routines right in the gym on his portion as an "Exercise Expert" plus see Hilda Ehrenberg strut her stuff on the runway as fashion diva "Bru-Hilda" takes a snap on what's new in the fashion industry. Hope she'll be as busy as I am this Fashion Week!
I wish you all the luck on your show in this new station! I'll be looking forward to seeing you more outside the studios as well. Lifestylers, let's watch this show 3PM every Saturdays and Sundays on GMA News TV!
