Well, don't be worried, this won't be the tied up formal type of interview as seasoned broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez interviews your favorite candidates in their own turf.. and see what happens in their day.

RATED KORINA dubs this as "Upuan ng Katotohanan" and will be aired this coming Saturday February 5 at 5PM on A2Z, at 7:30PM on TV5 and at 10:30PM on the Kapamilya Channel. Makati Skyscrapers Ready for MPBL

They say strong men maketh strong institutions, this might have been their hope. The Datu Cup is fast approaching and MPBL has been able to garner traction in the few months since it's inception. Of course that would mean only one thing, the franchise would grow bigger, and with that other cities and provinces that have shown interest in the beginning have now materialized and eventually, joined this league. One of them is the MAKATI SKYSCRAPERS. 

Coach Cholo Villanueva says "We only had 1 month preparation, we are a young team so expect more quick plays, running, gunning from the outside. Mark Isip, Rudy Lingganay and the others will be leading the team. We will use our youth to our advantage. We are representing Makati and we want to be number one, we want this championship. For us, we wanted players to prove something. Like for instance they want to play for the pros, of they have that attitude they will succeed. We didn't want to cram, yes we had little lead time but this is a young team. We have a level playing field and it is an equal opportunity for everyone to shine."

Team Manager Martin Arenas says "Our City Mayor gave her full support, our court has been refurbished, every game we have medical teams on stand by. They also provide security on home games. Even if I am the current Barangay Chairman, I can still get to manage the team, it's just time management and I know it's in my blood to love serving the people and basketball which has long been my passion. I wouldn't choose one or the other, I will choose both. Our only goal is to be champion."

With a promising lineup of young basketball talents from Makati and around the country, a solid management team and coaching staff, the MAKATI SKYSCRAPERS will surely be vying for the top prize in this coming DATU Cup. MAHARLIKA Pilipinas Basketball League Launched on ABSCBN S&A

I have relatives in the provinces who were fortunate enough to land basketball careers, and true enough play even better ball than professional ones but were just given the perfect opportunity. It doesn’t happen to everyone and these days, athletes like them need to be seen, that’s where the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League comes in. Various men clad in their local uniform representing cities here and in the provinces composed mainly of real Filipino ballers from the best of the best in local communities, former collegiate players, even professional players will start battling in out on the court this January 25 at 7PM. All of these will be seen at ABSCBN Sports and Action (channel 23) and the first head to head match must not be missed because it’s the Parañaque Patriots versus the Caloocan Supremos, live, unadulterated on TV.

Manny Pacquiao founded this league in the hopes of seeing a better grassroots program so they could see and discover great talent but not competing with other leagues, just promoting Philippine basketball as a whole. They want to see the good ones shine and perhaps be drafted in the big leagues, something that would complement it as a whole.

Mr. Arnold Vegafria says “We finally have a league that would really be from the grassroots level and now, Filipinos from all walks of life would get the exposure that they need to show their talent and passion, to hopefully have new hardcourt heroes!”

Teams will be represented by province, city or municipalities much like what format MBA in the past has already done but now have 10 teams from Metro Manila and Luzon. Soon they plan to have teams be represented from Visayas and Mindanao so cross your fingers if you plan to join too. As of now, the league’s current MPBL Comissioner is former PBA Player Kenneth Duremdes who hopes this would be a start of something big, to eventually see all provinces and cities be represented well in the league.

The opening games will be done at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on January 25 and MPBL will be giving away ten motorbikes and one brand new car to lucky fans who will watch the show. This is a production of ALFV Events International and ABSCBN Sports and Action. You may catch the regular games on Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturdays from 7PM to 11PM on the same channel. Make sure you don’t miss it! This is going to be really good!

Manny Pacquiao Builds More Homes with Habitat for Humanity

Don Fernando Miranda Zobel de Ayala, 8th Division World Boxing Champ and Congressman Manny Pacquiao with Habitat for Humanity Asia-Pacific Capital Campaign Steering Committee Mr. Charlie Ayco and Habitat for Humanity Philippines managing director and chief executive officer Architect Bong Recio during the signing of the agreement in Makati. 

You know what really got me thinking this week? While the other guy was flaunting all of this cars and plane on Instagram, our own Manny Pacquiao spent his New Year working with Habitat for Humanity Philippines to get more people some needed decent shelter. This great man has been with the Non Government Organization since a few years ago and he now signs the agreement a few more years, plus a donation of a whopping 5 Million pesos to bring more shelter for the people of Glan in Sarangani Province. The amount will be used to build 195 internationally standardized houses that will benefit hundreds of families made of fisherfolk, street and sari sari store vendors from the province and nearby areas. It will be situated in the Pacman-Tata Yap Ville in Barangay Tango.

The humble Congressman Manny Pacquiao also announced his plans to purchase more land in the future so they would be able to build more permanent houses and build communities that can sustain themselves independently. You can see the character differences between Pacquiao and the other boxer, together with Habitat for Humanity Philippines, they can do more. The last time I got to connect with Manny Pacquiao was on the wedding day of Jason Francisco and Melai Cantiveros.
