Sendwave Taps OGIE ALCASID: An Affordable Way to Send Money Home

Saturday, October 26, 2024

The Philippines is home to 2.16 Million OFW's (Overseas Filipino Workers according to latest statistics), and in so many instances, they need to send money home to help with family, friends, and other reasons. Going through banks and other entities cost so high, and of course, every cent counts with your hard earned money. International Money Transfer service provider Sendwave presents a very affordable option. If you are in one of the countries they serve, sending money to your loved ones will become simple, secured, and fast. This is something that is needed, an essential for family or OFW's so when they wanted someone to represent them in the country and the community, they tapped the good looking singer, songwriter, OPM icon, OGIE ALCASID. They introduced him to the press, and told us the reasons why he was the perfect person to send what they want to communicate:

Ogie says "It's important for Filipinos to send money home that's simple, affordable and without transfer fees. You know, the values of this company and mine as a father, husband is the same. We wake every day for our families, and they take care of hard earned money from abroad to the Philippines with ease, with trust that it will reach the person intended to, it is our connection to our family. We do concerts in other parts of the world and OFW's are an integral part of it. I hope in some way, we could get the message across that there is a way to save while sending money home."

Ms. Janice, the Global Brand Lead for Sendwave says "We are an online money remittance app, designed for OFW's and we champion them. We focus on simple, easy and convenient ways to send money from abroad to the Philippines (or any participating country) and made it affordable. Sendwave has no transfer fees, we stretch the value of the money that they send to their families here at home. We are present in the US, Canada, UK and parts of Europe. If you have OFW friends or family, please tell them to download the app and use the service. Try Sendwave!".

Ogie was so happy and honored to be able to represent them. Being part of the Sendwave family he deems is important because OFW's spend years in other countries, but want to make sure they stay connected and felt when help is needed in the Philippines. He also knows how hard it was to work abroad because he's been able to talk to them in performances abroad. They need to make sure that the money they send would be secured, easy to do and affordable.  .

Ogie adds "Why do we work? What are the reasons to wake up in the morning? The reasons to send money home is a lot, this app assures your savings would get to the recipient. As a singer, I've entertained them through concerts in different countries. When I talk to people, they are mostly OFW's, it's not easy to market something like this, but it is important. I just signed with them, and perhaps soon, there will be Sendwave in Australia and I'd get to send money to Regine if needed."

They now have bonus additional money to give out too when you first try the service (10 dollars) aside from the amount you send. There are no transfer fees, so that is free. They just want you to experience it. It's not intended for receivers, but designed from senders from abroad. You don't need to be a member here in the Philippines to receive the money, they just tie up their cards and send it to whatever bank or GCash account the recipient has and get it, it's that easy!

There are limits, dependent on banks abroad and the receiving bank/app in the country because some of them have limits too. It already is being used by 2 Million users, and the plan is to include more people to benefit from it. They have plans to take Ogie to other countries where Filipinos are. Although Ogie already is doing that, he says "The fact that I'd be reaching a lot of audiences this year and next year, we have a lot of people to help. It's most welcome, to be able to sing and help our kababayans. We are partners with TFC, and events may be through that. It's part of their future plans. I'm excited, when I learned about this, at the shoot, it was happy there. It's not easy to do but I'm excited and happy with what we made in just a few days. When you do it with fun, with excited people, it's a breeze. You will receive the amount automatically converted to peso and what you see with the conversion is what they person will get in full."

The company earns through foreign exchange and if you see that their rates are better, you should use Sendwave. Congratulations to Sir Ogie Alcasid, it's so refreshing to see you excited to help more people with this recent partnership. If you can send money home for free, you should take advantage!

Home or Investment for OFW's: Asterra

Tuesday, February 21, 2023

We all have friends, relatives who have worked abroad and much of them have sent money home so their families live a comfortable life, pay for bills, the education of their kids, put food on the table and roof over their heads.

Asterra is the most recent affordable housing project of Vista Land and Golden MV holdings. This is owned by Manny Villar who has seen continous growth in the market. This will be laid on ground in different parts of the country and is planned to be offered for those who are just starting a family, young professionals, those engaged in businesses, and overseas Filipino workers who's dreams include a home of their own in thriving cities across the Philippines.

This is certainly something that they see would be a very good investment opportunity for OFW's too either to rent out or have it be a place of their own. It's an opportune time to do it now since the real estate market is still pretty low in Asterra North Luzon according to their Division Head Neil Almonte. Rentals have certainly been a lucrative way to become a passive income if you're out of the country. They have really well designed condo units with concierge, security, and a community that is close to markets, the church and places you can go to relax on your spare time.

If you're interested, you may check out their official website asterra.com.ph or AsterraOfficial on Facebook. They can also answer your questions if you think the time to go and invest here is now!

WENDELL RAMOS at the Launch of WenDeli Meatshop

Wednesday, February 01, 2023

He's got one of the most gorgeous faces in Philippine showbiz, has got a body of a Greek god and women adore him. He's no other than noted actor and hunk Wendell Ramos. He has been industry for a long time and has cemented himself in the comedy and drama genres and hasn't lost his good looks even after Fatherhood stepped in and brought equally gorgeous kids in this world too.

It was severely hard to work during the pandemic and a lot of actors and his friends have had to approach him and ask for money in those difficult times. He didn't want to plainly just give them money, but instead an opportunity to work for it. He saw his wife dropping off meat products sourced from friends to earn a living. If there's an advantage, Wendell knew he had the network to do this on a larger scale. So in 2020, he sought the expertise of iFranchise Business Services Corporation and Commissary Kitchen. This is when WenDeli Meat House was born.

Initially he just wanted to help a few friends, but the folks at iFranchise Business Services Corporation saw a huge potential with this business model and sought to expand this business to kababayans in other countries so they too could become dealers as well.

Here's our video coverage of the event:

Krizzia Ann Loyang the President and CEO of iFranchise says "Thank you for being here this evening. Almost 3 years ago, the world stopped and with iFranchise, it was my responsibility to move forward. We have a family and businesses to sustain. We all had struggles but we just have to believe. With WenDeli Meat House, we were able to give employment and give back to communities. Being an OFW, I personally saw how Wendell supported our efforts in different countries, we knew our business had a heart and has created an impact. Through this platform, it would hone and improve the lives of our fellow Filipinos and bring our products here and around the world. We want to let them reach their dreams. We know we still have a lot of places to go to, thank you for supporting us, Wendell's family, my family and the whole iFranchise organization."

Joel Pascual of Commissary Kitchen says "Tonight is a story of resiliency, one day a man called Wendell Ramos approached us in the kitchen to develop a line of products, and the rest is history. During the pandemic, this was a gamble. Tonight we are celebrating the new direction and business model together with the iFranchise family. From our kitchen, it is now going global. We recognize opportunities and now we are acting on it."

WenDeli Meathouse products currently include Wendeli Longganisa, Wendeli Beef Tapa, Wendeli Tocino, and Wendeli Burger Patty. They also have spicy variants to cater to other peeps who want it with a little kick too.

You can be an official Reseller for as low as Pho 98K and a country Franchisee for Php 2.8M. It's got a lot of inclusions like use of trade name, ambassador and marketing collaterals, freezers, initial products, training and support, recipes, brand and marketing support for resellers. Country Franchisees on the other hand get the same perks plus operational help, training assistance abroad, a minimal 10% royalty/partnership fee and an 8 year contract with the company. It has already changed the lives of a lot of his friends, his family and OFW's based in Dubai, Africa, Japan, Portugal and others. If you want to be part of their growth, it would be wise to do it early so get in touch with them via wendelimeathouse@gmail.com or their social channels WenDeli Meathouse on FB or @WenDeli_Meathouse on IG. He's excited to be part of your journey!

Abizo OFW App: Peace of Mind for OFW's and Their Families This Christmas

Monday, December 20, 2021

Overseas Filipino Workers have been dubbed as the new heroes. Back in 2020, their remittances have amounted to 9.66 percent of the country's GDP which is worth over 33.2 billion dollars. It's a huge chunk and they deserve good news, so here's the ABIZO OFW app which is backed by the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency.

As you know, employment abroad doesn't always mean greener pastures, rainbows and butterflies. Your family at home and your government worries for OFW's safety, this app solves a lot of that and give you peace of mind. The ABIZO OFW app provides real time updates of your activities in other countries. Through this app, they look after your welfare, and give you the option to tell them where you are when you arrive in the host country. This mobile app platform is convenient, takes a few steps to register and would ease the mind of your families back home. The app also has a button for emergencies, so in case you encounter any difficulties with your employment, they can go and give you needed help.

This would prove useful especially in the Middle East, the US, Europe, or elsewhere in the world. If you need help from the government, this would be your first line of defense and prevent physical, emotional abuse if it occurs at your place of work.

To make things even better, they have published a few videos in the app that will make you remember Christmas in the Philippines, and how the app would work in real life! They actually have a few of these episodes out including Episode 2: Kamusta Ka Na Ate? It will certainly pull heartstrings, because these are short stories everyone can relate from, especially if you have loved ones abroad who work tirelessly for their family back home.

If you want to see the videos, like the link above and their Facebook page, or subscribe to their YouTube channel at ABIZO OFW. Aside from that, you can download the ABIZO OFW app on Google Play or the App Store. Make sure you do before you leave the country, it's better to be prepared especially if you're going out there to improve the lives of your family.

Premium Properties at Amaia Scapes Pampanga

Saturday, October 30, 2021

It's almost Christmas and in Central Luzon, Amaia Scapes Pampanga is going to make an even festive season better by opening up premium residences at the Angeles-Magalang Road in Mexico, Pampanga area. This would be ideal for young professionals who work in the vicinity or those who would want a new home.

What's good is that they've got bigger square footage that's fit for those who are looking more spacious rooms or less constricting design. Just like their other projects across the country, Amaia Scapes Pampanga places importance on having these projects that are sustainable and ecologically efficient. Much of the common areas will be equipped with LED solar lights, roofs that lessen heat, larger windows and light colored front walls so you both save on power and lessen carbon footprint.

Unit owners can take advantage of green surroundings, walkable paths and several amenities that can be used by residents. They've got a pool and pavillion that would be perfect for parties, imagine what you could enjoy if you live in this part of the country.

Wouldn't you want to wish and have a home in Amaia Scapes Pampanga? I sure ain't alone wishing one for my folks right? If you want to know more about the property, simply check AmaiaLand.com today!

Still Human - A Film That Needs To Be Seen

Saturday, August 10, 2019

Just got off the private screening of Still Human. A film made and produced by organizations in Hong Kong. It was indeed a masterpiece, starring Anthony Wong and Crisel Consunji. Shot entirely in the progressive financial district, it talks about the life of an OFW in Hong Kong and local elderly man who initially had hesitations having a Filipina maid but got to like her after a few days. It was so nice and fresh, it wasn’t an entirely depressing sob story but you will surely cry especially on scenes about family, sacrifice, and how the female lead star Crisel ended up with her character - to achieve hope, to dream with the help of her employer.

Crisel Consunji says “Went to Hong Kong and told myself I had to make a difference, I was taken aback when I saw women that are empowered that they didn’t need my help. There are many Filipinas in HK 210,000 work in the Domestic Help industry. Some to note are dragon boat rowers, accomplished photographers, mountain hikers, in spite of many odds these are breaking barriers. When I walk in central, I see people like me, but I think now is a wonderful time to listen what they have to say. This film is called Still Human. Working with a legend was blissful, he was generous, you can’t expect anything else. He is very outspoken, he wasn’t even paid for it. He said “Because it is high time we cast Filipinas as they are part of our society.” I gave them a call and auditioned, he treated the story with respect and I felt I cannot not be part of this. I did two scenes and exchanged ideas during the process and got it.”

True enough, they have been nominated in several categories, won Best Actor for Anthony Wong and Best New Performer + a Best Actress nomination for Crisel. She’s also the first Filipina to do so and they’re changing things in HK society. Anthony revered this as an acting piece and didn’t even ask for payment to do the project. This is under No Ceiling Film Productions and have yet to be commercially released in the Philippines. I was expecting less about the story, but they definitely touched me, and over delivered. This needs to be seen and trust me, even if you’re a grown man, you will feel it.

Link Asia Manpower Solutions Utilizes STERNA App

Friday, August 09, 2019

The Philippines has an estimated 13.7 Billion increase in dollars remittances this 2019. A huge chunk of that is from outside the country, what we call OFW’s or Overseas Filipino Workers. This accounts for a percentage of the country’s GDP and is the reason why we are not that affected much when other markets are volatile. Link Asia Manpower Solutions has been sending skilled workers for years and with the advent of the industry becoming digital, they’ve partnered with STERNA.This goes with other companies who are now connected with the app too

For those who don’t know, STERNA has been utilized in different countries like Mexico, Columbia, Tunisia, Morocco, Canada and now the Philippines. The app makes it easy to process recruitment documents, so you would be able to connect with people, with just a few clicks. The app makes your professional profile visible to companies that need to fill positions in different capacities, even process papers required for legal procedures as accorded by your preferred destination, as you can also include where and where not to work. It is also very easy to navigate as it doesn’t have a very complicated interface. This was created by Bruno Padis.

Eric Corpuz the President of Link Asia Manpower Solutions says “This is an app that would be able to connect employees and employers, in a very personal and direct way. This would eliminate the chance of getting victimized by illegal recruiters, which makes it safe for our new OFW’s/heroes. If you want to know more, you may call them via 816-3258. Or simply download the Sterna app on the App Store or Google Play.

GINEBRA’s Scottie Thompson Endorses Icy Cool Shake

Sunday, March 18, 2018

The most popular team there is in the Philippine Basketball Association is GINEBRA, it can go to many forms but the legendary franchise has always captured the hearts of the Filipinos and meeting the players during an event years back was but an opportune time because not everyone has been able to do that. If you are fan of the team, you know there are standouts and if my hunch is right you'll hear the name of Scottie Thompson in it. Peope probably think he's an american, or a fil-am, or a european but no, he's a full blooded Filipino who's born and raised in Mindanao particularly in Digos City, Davao.

We talked to him for a few minutes as he is now the new endorser of new ice cream franchise business called ICY COOL SHAKE. The very nice owner also told us about their humble beginnings and how their simple food business took off by doing research and development for a few months. Their secret? The perfect blend of ice and creaminess of their product, a thing that has never been achieved by their competitiors. They felt this is the prime time to come out with it because it's summer. It's the perfect business also that OFW's or just any ordinary joe could invest in.

Here's the interview we did for them in two parts, I was a little giddy, actually happy because of how people would recieve this. Anybody can have a business with an affordable price, a good business plan and location would help too and they are open to work with you if that needs to be done.

For those who would want to know more about getting their own franchise from ICY COOL SHAKE, you may get in touch with Ms Icy Mendoza 046 4027282 or their mobile number 09177051345. You can also email them via icycool820@gmail.com or visit their website www.icycoolshake.com.ph. Or simply message them at ICY COOL SHAKE on Facebook because they also have it there.

TrueMoney Centers Has Got 1 Million Served!

Monday, November 13, 2017

This would have been an impossible feat for some but not for the TrueMoney Centers in the Philippines. You see in less than a year, they have just had their 1 Millionth customer.. something they've truly been proud of and treat as a milestone. We're a country run partly by overseas Filipino workers (yes and clearly part of the GDP growth) and sending money home is just something essential to us. It's culture to care for family left in the Philippines and more so during the Christmas season. It's a season everyone has been waiting for and with services like these popping up left and right, people are trying to save a buck whenever they can. It's not cheap to actually send money to the Philippines, even inside the country itself, so in a way True Money is revolutionizing sending money as they introduce a cheaper but efficient alternative.

As for trust, TrueMoney Philippines is a brand under Fintech which is part of Ascend Money under C.P. Group of Thailand and Ant Financial (of Alibaba Group). They initially only had a couple of pilot partners in the past but now has grew up to 5,000 TrueMoney Centers in less than a year. They have now been able to become one of the largest payment and remittance networks in the country. The goal is to have innovative and affordable financial services to areas in the country that don't have banking or money transfer services. To go to underserved parts and become essential to commerce according to their CEO Xavier Marzan.

Now they've got payment and e-commerce centers in different provinces like North, South and Central Luzon, far flung areas in Mindanao but considers these areas as their starting points. They are still growing and steadily looking for partner centers. Imagine, they've got the lowest rates for domestic remittances which goes to about 2% compared to other existing competitors that have 3-10% which is unreal. They sometimes even charge the recipient which is not a good thing. Like if you send through them now Php 1,000, they would only charge Php 20 for that. Isn't that good news?

If you want to know more about how to send money through their centers or become their partners, visit their website at www.truemoney.com.ph. You may also call them at 7189999 or their mobile numbers 09778063775.

Bembol Roco Likely To Make You Cry in What Home Feels Like

Tuesday, July 11, 2017

Bembol Roco might be the BIGGEST winner so far in the TOFARM Film Festival as he puts on another entry called "What Home Feels Like" by director Joseph Abello. Last year, he did "Pauwi Na" for this same festival and entered the Paulo Villanueva creation to the 20th Shanghai International Film Festival and it won top prize and lauded for the film's humanism and universality. It was entitled "Pedicab" for it's international release albeit being the only Southeast Asian entry to the fest.

"What Home Feels Like" has already made several film critics post on social media how much they cried over the story as it touches on the stories of OFW's which is common in the Philippines. The country has long been sending workers abroad (in his case an aging seaman) and it has affected families to the point of not being recognized by their own kids. Aside from that, the veteran actor will play a Father who chose to put his entire savings to a farm even though his whole family disagrees with this decision, and continues on to work the soil even if it looks impossible to get return of investments, which brought fear to the lives of his family later on. This situation is quite common in the Philippines and will be properly accorded a story when it shows on TOFARM Film Festival this January 12 to 18 with their theater run at SM Megamall, Greenbelt 1, Robinsons Galleria, Robinsons Metro East, Gateway Mall on the mentioned dates.

He will make you cry and treasure your Father more when you watch this masterpiece that also stars Irma Adlawan, and she's another reason why you're eyes would get wet even more.

Support local films, these indie ones during the ToFarm Film Fest and make sure you don't miss another stellar performance by the one and only Bembol Roco. See why he's been lauded in the international award giving bodies and continue to be world class!

Erich Gonzales and Daniel Matsunaga for "Be My Lady"

Friday, January 15, 2016

I've been waiting for this show to actually materialize as I've been hearing about it early last year. Word of it being filmed surfaced around the third quarter of last year which included Erich also being in a small accident (oh yes that got me worried!). My favorite Kapamilya actress didn't have a lead role since Two Wives (which I religiously watched btw) and had just done few support roles for the LizQuen starrer Forevermore.

We we're invited a few days ago to the Grand Presscon of her new one called "Be My Lady" which she stars with real life boyfriend Daniel Matsunaga. It's the first offered show from ABSCBN this 2016 and it couldn't come at a better time since it's almost valentines day. That to me just spelled romance, light drama which this series is all about. They also mentioned love in unexpected places, interracial relationships which they say is going to really be something that OFW's and your relatives living elsewhere would be able to relate to.

We got them on video, this was during the press conference at the 14th Floor of ABSCBN's ELJ Building:

Singing the theme "Be My Lady" was Jason Dy which the producers say was a fresher, younger take on the song.

Piolo Pascual for Cherry Mobile's #CherryChristmas Promo

Friday, October 09, 2015

We were in the moment, a grand celebration with Cherry Mobile as they just announced their newest endorser Piolo Pascual. He's here for the phone company's #CherryChristmas promo. It's the season of giving and they're tapping into the OFW market to show how important they are in the lives of Filipinos, their friends and family.

Fall in love with Cherry Mobile's OFW ambassador Piolo Pascual as he goes with you through the happiest and sometimes the loneliest time of the year for some of our kababayans which is one of the things that the company is working with so OFW's become connected, without boundaries - then reward them this season.

Cherry Mobile's campaign thrust is to do a lot of CSR programs, but we're giving them now more emphasis. Christmas is the happiest time of the year so aside from giving them affordable handsets, we value youth and their education. We give them supplies so they could go to school, right now we're concentrating on OFW's and their loved ones. We're doing a lot but we're planning more for OFW's especially the android phones so they can use video calls and see them live, connected and loved.

"#CherryChristmas is bringing home OFW's back to the Philippines come November 8, partnering with an airline for this project, we're literally flying them here. If you have a loved one outside the Philippines check the Cherry Mobile channels on that date. Valid entries just need a Facebook account, to be a Filipino, and use video as a medium for their entries. That's what we'll call #CherryChristmas." says Ms. Sandra the Brand Manager for Equity and Digital at Cherry Mobile.

"Merry Christmas even this early, I'm so happy and elated with this promo and happy too with the families that will come home because of Cherry Mobile. It's going to be a great Christmas for them. What's important is when they see you, you bring them home. That's a gift, it makes them feel at home with your presence." says Piolo Pascual.

For more information about the promo, please visit their website www.cherrymobile.com.ph or their Facebook page www.facebook.com/cherrymobile.

Upscale and Refined Living at Pontefino Hotel & Residences + Pontefino Prime

Wednesday, December 04, 2013

Batangas City's premier hotel and real estate destination requires no introduction. This is the legendary and awe strucking PonteFino Hotel and Residences. A place quite near everything else in Batangas City, this sprawling property boasts of the hotel, condominium units, town houses and lone units following a shabby chic neo victorian vibe.

This is also the place where the Ms. Earth 2013 Preliminary Swimsuit and Resort Wear competition will be held. True enough, we were about to see an epic night! Though before that, can we take a look around the Pontefino Hotel, Pontefino Residences and Pontefino Prime first?

I know, the hotel made its presence felt even from afar. It's tall, on top of a hill dwarfing even the local SM Batangas which sits almost at the front of it. There's a huge church, few hospitals, 2 International Schools and the local government buildings a few minutes away. Plus, the pool and its design is divine! How can you not live here right?

Case in point are these town houses (which really reminds me of the ones in New York/San Fo) just a few meters from the actual hotel. Pontefino Residences boasts of world class design and amenities that would be the envy of other real estate establishments in the Philippines. Their interiors are one of the most space efficient and aesthetically apt places that I've ever seen.

What's even great is that you can opt to have your place rented by the hotel itself so they can lease it and get you paid both on monthly amortizations and dues. All you have to do is ask. Most of these properties are sold out because of the terms that they presented to owners  giving them the most flexible payment schemes and no nonsense opportunities for the actual project to pay for itself in a certain amount of time. It's one of the most attractive things I've seen that they could offer for OFW's, Expats and investors. The property value also is increasing in this side of the world and I'm sure with the recent opening of more lanes in the StarTEX it'll be one of the busiest "Business Savvy" cities in the south pretty soon (as if it's not already LOL). You'll also have the amenities and access to some style establishments right in front of the hotel. Heck I got a haircut there! =)

Then we proceeded to their exclusive Pontefino Prime property which sits just a few minutes away from the Pontefino Hotel and Residences. This again is on top of a few hills and is going to be one of the few places that's directly accessible from SM Batangas' front property. They have built a private road network that will house a couple more condominium units and these wonderful townhouses reminiscent of still - the Neo Victorian vibe they were trying to exude in the other lot.

We took a short tour inside their model houses and it was like a different place. You just felt rich and mighty owning one of these for sure.

Pontefino Prime presents a more exclusive feel but still has the same amount of accessibility and promising property characteristics as in the other phases of this place. It kinda secures your investment growth, even with the property value alone you'll already be seeing this as a NO LOSS investment right from the get go. There are even some owners pooling money to buy multiple houses because they're already convinced how lucrative this is going to be. Ever had a property like this in Manila? I bet not. So make the short trip down to Batangas City and check the property out if you're still in doubt or talk to a property consultant and see how you can get the ball rolling.

Thanks to this young fine looking man and Property Manager Arman Marquez (on the right) for showing us around the lot. He says there'll be more of these places to be built sooner than you think and they are running out of it too as investors have been hogging this for the past year or so. He also says it might end up to be a little expensive come 2014 so the right time to buy is NOW.

If you're interested in acquiring one or more of these things or visit the city and wish to stay in the hotel, you can check out the rates on their official website
