Rita Daniela Releases Self Titled Album

Saturday, May 02, 2015

It's not my first time meeting Rita Daniela. The time I did see her was for some programs in GMA, though seeing her sing during a doxology in Thea Tolentino's 18th birthday just gave me and the guests goosebumps that evening. She's worked hard and finished her studies. She felt it was her priority and since she's reinventing herself, she marks this as just showing who she really is.

She just launched her self titled album "Rita Daniela" last month of which she hopes would give us a glimpse of who she really is. This is an EP to begin with, so you can say all these songs are carefully hand picked, designed to be listened to, and remain lingering in your head for a little while, perhaps be a "last song syndrome" like for days to come. She's shying away from the image of the kid that won the QTV11 contest a long time ago. The journey was long, and she even compared this breaking out moment like that of Miley Cyrus, and hopes this new phase in her career make it all the more exciting for people who would want to get to know her music. She even puts it out there that her genre is a mix, not just RnB, dramatic, romance or heartbreak filled OPM. It's just like her that's influenced with a lot of things in music, it's everything that she loves!

She's also going to be in the show "Let The Love Begin" which will start in a few weeks. She's done countless shows where she usually does play the villain. She doesn't feel typecasted though because for her, being an anti hero just meant doing a role with the same intensity, same level of difficulty to become believable. She did that fantabulously. Aside from singing, she's also become adept in dancing. During the blogcon, she moved to the beat of several songs, and we felt a little inferior when she began singing standards too.

This is just the start of her journey. Rita Daniela's self titled album is available in Astroplus, Astro Vision, Odyssey, The Landmark, SM Music and video outlets nationwide. It only costs Php 199.00 and totally worth it. Don't miss listening to my personal favorite "I'm Flying High" which is also her carrier single, plus other tracks like Di Lang Ikaw, Fallin, Ihip ng Hangin. She's also releasing a music video for this in the next few weeks. She wants to fulfill her dream to be the "Total Performer" and she's got all the things to make it in the music industry. Congratulations Rita! Thank you also for being so nice during the event!

GMA Stars Francheska Farr, Arianne Bautista, Maricris Garcia, Rita De Guzman, Mayton Eugenio and Julian Trono at GRACES in QC

Monday, September 29, 2014

We celebrate our birthdays in different ways, some intimate, some really good ones especially if your goal is to share your blessings with other people. That's exactly what the September birthday celebrants from GMA Artist Center did a few days ago at the Graces Home for the Elderly at the back of SM North Edsa in Quezon City. Francheska Farr, Arianne Bautista, Maricris Garcia, Rita De Guzman, Mayton Eugenio and Julian Trono pulled up their sleeves and got their hands ready to give a few hours of entertainment and enjoyment for the Lolos and Lolas of Graces.

Francheska Farr and Maricris Garcia presented song numbers and of course the elderly folks loved every bit of it. Some even joined them and even participated during the event. I remember distinctly one Lolo singing a whole medley when we thought it was just song. It was hilarious but we really had fun! Arianne Bautista on the other hand hosted the event with Tess Bomb. Their antics made them laugh all throughout the program.

The GMA Artists want to thank Fernando's Bakeshop for their cakes, it was all given to the Lolos and Lolas later on.

Lots of their sponsors also chipped in so that in their birthday, they would be the ones to give gifts to the elderly. If you could only see the smiles on their faces that day, they really had fun!

Thea Tolentino @ 18

Thursday, August 21, 2014

We went all the way to Calamba, Laguna to visit the hometown of the once little girl who dreamed of someday, making it big in the showbiz industry. Through the reality show Protegè, one of GMA's prized actresses was born... and clearly, she has blossomed into a colorful butterfly... a lady. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Thea Tolentino as she celebrates her 18th birthday. Oh yes, the Half Sister star is celebrating her debut intimately with family, friends and some celebrities. I find her very nice contrary to the role she's playing in that series which I regularly watch. Let me give you a rundown on what happened that evening.

Rita De Guzman performed a doxology to start the program. She's pretty dope. I have seen her perform quite a number of times and she's a pro. She also opened for the concert of Aiai and Rico J a few weeks back and this, she did with justice. Some even couldn't help but clap after her song. It's a prayer though. Then the debutante entered the venue.

All eyes were on her as she came out with a full gown created by world renowned designer Francis Libiran. It looked so good on her and obviously she's ready to show some serious skin. The back and the gown's detail up close was definitely a show stopper and it accentuates her without being too vulgar in the right places. She is indeed claiming it, like a gorgeous butterfly opening her wings.

Mikoy, Rita, Frencheska and Dion for Artist Center Jam Sessions

Wednesday, June 25, 2014

Frencheska Farr, Rita De Guzman, Mikoy Morales and Dion Ignacio
It was a great evening of music and artistry when we went to Route 196 in Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City. GMA network's very talented artists namely Frencheska Farr, Rita De Guzman, Mikoy Morales and Dion Ignacio. I honestly haven't seen them perform live yet to tell you honestly so this is one thing I'm a little excited about. It's a good thing that they did not disappoint me. I had so much fun that evening.

Mikoy Morales

I've seen Mikoy Morales during his Protege days and of course he was one of the few who was to be taken notice because he's got a very unique voice. It's a bluesy, rnb kinda thing. He was a little quiet at first, maybe because he hasn't met me yet; but once that the program started he looked really friendly. Now remember, I haven't heard him sing live yet so this is a first. I tried to record their performances one by one and upload them real time. Check out this number by Mikoy during the jamming sessions.

That's really good. He felt what he sang and made us all feel the same way. If you get to be affected by a song, what more an album soon. In the mean time, please make sure you subscribe with his Youtube channel to check out his covers and original compositions. His songs are also going to be featured in up coming films and programs in GMA. He's going to be in some of them too so you better watch out for this talented chap on the same channel!

Rita De Guzman

As pretty as the girl you dreamed of last night, she's one fine lady with a very powerful voice. I actually like her style, a more deep kind of belting with very controlled dynamics. She sang an original called "Bilang Ikaw" (Just Like You) which I must say is a good OPM song which was fit and styled perfectly for her range. I'm so sorry I didn't get to record her video as I was still uploading Mikoy's song. She only sang two songs that evening and I thought there was going to be a next one. My bad. Anyway, since she's this good... GMA Records is actually already in the works to release her new album. It's going to have original ones so you have to watch out for that.

I kinda hated her in Villa Quintana because she was really evil in that role but seeing her here was just great. I didn't know she sings this good, proving her worth as the grand winner of Popstar Kids. She knows how good she is too and that exudes confidence, just like when she sang that evening here. We can't wait to see how her new songs will fare on the airwaves because she is indeed so promising!

Frencheska Farr

I didn't recognize her probably because of her hair. She's Frencheska Farr, and I kinda knew her because she has worked with my Sensei Xander Angeles and Niko Villegas. Those were stunning photos. I also saw her debut album called "Inside my heart" which was more so represented who she is as a recording artist. Her voice is good and I liked what I heard that evening from her. You be the judge on how good she sounds like here.

Her album is still out on major record bars and stores nationwide. If you like what you're hearing in this bit, you'll even love the album. She's a very talented gal and I'm sure you're gonna hear a lot more songs from her in future ones, right GMA Records? :) Aside from that, Innamorata was awesome with you in it. I hope we get to see you in more projects in GMA, you're a nice gal... you deserve it. By the way, she'll also have a benefit concert entitled YOLO this July 25 at the Music Museum. This is for cancer patients and survivors, a really good cause. Tickets will be available at the venue, online and shops nationwide. Make sure you don't miss it!

Dion Ignacio

Seeing a good looking guy like Dion Ignacio makes me a little jealous. He's tall, chiseled like a demigod, has got the face that would make women fall on their knees... and I thought that was all. This evening was a really good eye opener because this wasn't just the Dion I knew all these months that I got to know him. I didn't know that he freakin sounded this good!

This is the first time I've heard him sing live. To my surprise, I couldn't help but tell him how good he was after his set. His background in working with a band also came in handy because he played the drums and the in different songs during the event. Sometimes, I don't get it why people are almost made perfect. Anyway, he's going to have a new album that will be under GMA Records. It's about time! He's a way talented individual to just be limited to dramatic roles he's been doing lately. Congratulations Dion! Proud of you! ;)

The guys and gals are talented and with GMA Artist  Center and GMA Network as a whole working on them, I wouldn't be surprised if they get to where they want to be career wise. I'd love to see another one of these jamming sessions soon! We totally had fun! :) What a way to introduce artists to the public!

Allen Dizon Stars In Kamkam (Greed)

Wednesday, June 18, 2014

Allen Dizon stars as Johnny, a man who revolves around a community laden with drugs, gambling, illegal activities and modern concubines.
I never watch Filipino films on an ordinary day, but I did a few days ago with the invitation of some friends from GMA and Heaven's Best who produced the film. I didn't expect much because I always had a weird notion about pinoy films, but when I heard that this was a Joel Lamangan masterpiece, I knew I had to watch it.

Kamkam (Greed) talks about Sitio Kamkam. A community where the poor indulge in everything illegal. From water and electrical connections, to pot sessions, gambling and womanizing was a norm. Johnny ruled the streets and there were a handful of people who could go against him. The Barangay Captain and his men, the court of law and probably a few paid policemen. It delves on what we often call normal in some communities in the Philippines. There's an utter disregard to ethics, professionalism and even human life.

Jean Garcia, Sunshine Dizon and Jackie Rice plays as Johhny's wives. They (Jean and Sunshine) get along quite well but when the third wife arrived, he favored her more than the others. Jealousy ensued, family ties got severed and it wasn't a pretty picture. Their son's and daughters in some way also had their own issues come in between. the performances of Lucho Ayala and Joyce Ching were a revelation here so you must watch how their story makes the situation more complex for their Father.

Allen Dizon says yes, there was initially some awkwardness when they shot the film because the roles just required a few adult scenes with his wives. Other than that, it's also the first time that he got to work with these ladies too. He was also impressed with his co actors in this film and adds even the kids did quite well for the most. He also mentioned that people will be able to relate with each character because they'll all see themselves with them at one point. The closeness of the characters with real life is astounding and people will appreciate how much they've portrayed some of the good and bad things that Filipinos are accustomed to. Another thing that I'm very fond of is the role of award winning actor Jim Pebanco as Johnny's gay best friend. He presents a comedic, touching and supportive persona that would want Johnny's life easy. The thing is, they found Johnny's body one day... floating lifeless in the river. Who would do such a thing? Why would a man who only wanted to provide for his family find his untimely demise. You better find out why on July 9, 2014 as it shows on selected theaters nationwide!

This also stars Emilio Garcia, Elizabeth Oropesa, Jim Pebanco, Joyce Ching, Lucho Ayala, Rita De Guzman, Hiro Peralta and Kerbie Zamora. This is written by Jerry Gracio and of course Directed by Joel C. Lamangan by Heaven's Best Productions. See how this daring, dramatic film unfold the story about greed in so many ways.
