Unboxing the new Vivo Y20s G

News of this particular model surfaced a few days ago, but hey, we've got first dibs on what is the new Vivo Y20s G, probably an entry to mid range level phone from vivo Philippines.

This is a review unit so we're going to find how it fares and its performance a couple days from now, but so far, aesthetic wise, this is actually a very remarkable one. The build is pretty sleek, you can feel how premium it is. They'll probably have this in different colors, but the Obsidian Black is super nice as it is shiny, and looks expensive.

This can carry a lot of games as its got a Mediatek Helio G80 chipset. This also has a 6GB + 128GB RAM and ROM which means it can do several jobs at a time and store tons of photos and videos in this thin phone. The main camera is at 13MP, with 2 2MP lenses for depth and and macro shots. The front cam is an 8MP teardrop design embedded on top. It's also dual sim, so you can fit two lines if you have different networks you need to be in whether data or calls. You can use this all day, even more as it carries a 5000mAh battery which means it can do hours and hours of games, calls, streams and entertainment.

I will be trying it out for a couple of days so stay tuned on how we check and fare its camera, how it churns out photos and also videos. If this proves to be affordable, this would be something Filipinos would love especially if you're on a budget.

What Does 5G Mean for Smartphones Now?

Times have indeed changed and with the recent release of 5G bands this year, what does it mean for the smartphone industry? In a recent article written by the Head of Vivo Communication Research Institute Qin Fei, he mentioned several things that would probably happen in the next few years as the ownership of smartphones will eventually reach up to 50 percent this 2020 (despite pandemic fears) and a huge 70% come 2025. He also said that the way we look at smartphones now will change with the arrival of 5G. People will be accessing the internet more on these handsets, so the need for a better and faster connection is not far behind. 5G connections can also improve and increase the consumption of content.  The higher speeds mean we would get quality videos, more immersive gaming experiences. It can also be used for health applications, building smart cities and even make automated transport a possibility if implemented well.

Vivo sees that the smartphone will become a central device which will enable users to utilize it for information and services. They also earmarked how Southeast Asia gets about 93% of its traffic from smartphones and about 63% on desktops, which would mean there’s a huge market in these channels and will need handsets that can do functions that would help that happen. This also means smartphone manufacturers need to rethink and re-imagine their approach and design.

Change with 5G

It will change the way we do things, especially the development of smart devices. Since it is 5G, its capacity to carry even bigger data can make tons of things possible and not just remain with switches. This could also change core elements of smartphones. Fans are going crazy over Maine Mendoza and the phone that she’s teasing. The fun and cute actress was spotted in a screenie for the lates Vivo prime handset, the Vivo V17 Pro. When will this be launched? We don’t know yet but rumors are it’s going to be tomorrow.

As if that’s not enough, she made us recite the ABC’s... but not without a mouth full of milky and creamy polvoron. We struggled a lot but, in the end we got our answers correct, good enough to win a signed cap by Golden State Warriors premier player Steph Curry! Vivo released a teaser, all about batteries!

The next Vivo phone may well be a battery monster, one that can provide even possibly more than 4,000 mAh capacity they had in previous models and maybe, a phone that can be charged in a few minites which would result in hours of talk time. Sounds crazy? Well it may well be. They have been known for innovation and the past two models they had like the Vivo X21 and the Vivo NEX which was released in other countries has proven they’re doing good in that department.

What’s quite intriguing are these talks of fast charging and even longer battery life without adding a few grams to the handset. Do you think it’s acheivable? Do you think it’s something they can do? That’s what we have to wait for this month because chances are, it will be coming to the Philippine market soon!

Now I wish I can get my hands on that before the model gets issued to stores. Ahhh, hello Vivo Philippines!

Vivo Teases with all-new screen design Smartphone

It’s been really awesome to see how Vivo has continued to innovate with their new phones. Known for their technology advancements, here they go again teasing us in their social media channels with what seems to be a new model following the successful X series and still very consumer-centric smartphone designs. This includes a video showing the moon and curved lines which we think will be the shape of their next flagship phone utilizing a hashtag implicating #GoBeyond.

If you’ve been following their runs, they did the Vivo 7+ last 2017, then the V9 in 2018, then their recent Vivo X21 (which I liked), then the Vivo NEX in selected markets. All of these models outdoing each other and its competitors with better body to screen ratio, resolution, fit for gaming and entertainment purposes.
