15 Years of Orange Love: ORANGE MAGAZINE TV

Thinking about this event took me a few days because I didn't want to go the emotional route as the event is celebratory. Orange Magazine just had their 15th Anniversary last July 1st 2025. For those who don't know, they're one of the OG's in the digital magazine space and I've had the pleasure of having them as peers in the industry for years now. 

While you were probably infants, these folks already made their mark in introducing artists, people, brands, businesses and SME's. This includes those who have no digital footprint back in the day, and has now grown even bigger with his team at Orange Magazine. I've seen some of the risk he took early on and challenges that broke everything because I'd say, the industry was still in its infancy compared to established traditional media companies that got a foothold of the trust of people. Jeman Villanueva wasn't all perfect - and quite loveless at that time 😂 - and he held on to those who have believed in him and his work especially in the different niche he handles, and here we are today!

Stronger and wiser than ever, Orange Magazine TV has been able to weather the rough obstacles that have come their way. Every year, they try to throw a thanksgiving party for the local PH blogging industry, giving back to folks who have stood by them all these years, including the brands and corporations who have believed in them since day 1.

Every year, Readers Digest Philippines has been tapping an independent survey agency where Filipinos get to vote the best of the best trusted products, services and personalities. Contrary to talks, they need not to be a subscriber of Readers Digest to vote for their favorites since they started this and yes, they are the ones who commission every year. Several of these brands, people, actually have been recognized for several years. 

The methodology, the way they do the surveys are still the same. In the Philippines, the sample size is around 2000, but have 8000 individuals overall for the Asia Pacific market to do this in different regions. Being in this list just means you're trusted by Filipinos, and it is indeed important to a lot of people especially for those who look for quality, and the best in the different industries. Reader’s Digest Outs Most Trusted Brands and Personalities Award for 2022

Reader's Digest is celebrating their 100th year and last April 8th, they got us to cover the awarding ceremonies for the Most Trusted Brands and Personalities in the Philippines. This is an annual event where patrons decide the best of the best in different products, services and people in different industries. It also brings the brand prestige, that in a multitude of names out there, they're the ones that Filipinos trust the most.

The Garden Ballroom at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel Manila was actually packed with executives and CEO's, representatives from different companies who were there to receive their awards. Looks like our friends from Jollibee are at it again with these commercials. If not shock, I'd expect people to always be extremes either to be romantic or cry. Not that we're surprised but this one is pretty special. This digital short was shot in New York and directed by award winner Law Chen (from Singapore). 

It's about a migrant family (year 2060) talking about the hardships and tribulations we've all encountered in 2020 and 2021. The pandemic has made businesses stop, work halted, people sent to hospitals as they get sick, and literally turned our lives upside down. They took a jab at being hopeful, what good this incident has made all of us. It made us see what is important, to become together as a family, to get back up and give ample attention to the things we took for granted. 

I totally agree, 2020 became the year of the family because we got closer, we looked out for each other and pretty much, it has made this pandemic a little bearable. We needed to survive and we had our family, not just to care, but be there for us on the most difficult times. 

Jollibee made me cry twice already, but I'll have that Champ tomorrow. I need to comfort myself now. Go watch it and see how you'll feel afterwards.

Levis Orange Tab Comes Back!

Santoni Shoes Now in Manila

I dream of perfect shoes.

I still probably have around 30 shoes on the shelf that I haven't even used. A problem? Yes. I admit I'm a shoe-a-holic. 

If I find something nice, if I find something unique and something good... I usually pick it up and pay for it on the counter no matter what the price is. When I got an invite to Santoni's launch a few days ago, I almost fainted at the sight of the shoes.

 

He is Francesco de Santis. He's one of the few artisans left in the world who still make hand made shoes with Italian brand Santoni. There are only a handful left because some Italians choose other careers other than making good shoes like these. Sad, but they are fighting that by showing the difference of these gorgeous pieces of heavenly foot covers. If you don't actually see it up close like this, you won't appreciate how much care they put in on making shoes. See how he tortured that show on his hand by folding it? It comes back to form when he released that. That's how confident he is.

 Madame Edith Dychiao says it's time that the Filipinos have this world class brand. It's time they get pampered. Shoes of this class wasn't even imaginable before because people were always associating the Philippines as a third world country. Today, men and women of different professions in this place prove to have more purchasing power than ever. The shoe fitting. I really hate David Celdran when he got the chance to have one of these pairs. While I watch in the sidelines. It'll take around 6 months before the actual shoe is made because of the care and love they put into it. They measure the right and the left foot separately. I didn't know before this that there was a difference, but it does make sense. 

It's nice to know something classy like this is now available in the Philippines. Santoni is open at the East Wing of Shangrila Mall. Don't be afraid to come in and check out what they have inside the store. I on the other hand am still dreaming. I didn't even get to fit the shoe during the event. I'll have to wait to get one of my own. Soon.

GENERAL: The Ultimate Lifestyle Store For The Self Made Man!

Have you heard of General?! If you haven't been to C1 Bonifacio High Street to see this store, you must have been living under a rock. For stylish and classy men, this should be your "go to store" from now on. Let's just say, it sets the bar for STYLE. I gasped at the sight of the brands they carry.

Do you remember the artist named WHOOP whom I featured here during the DIMENSIONE Magis launch? Well he's responsible for these art installations above. GENERAL actually changes face every so often to feature artists of different mediums to coincide with the upscale but relaxed feel of the store. It's a feat I haven't seen from other brands. Then I took a closer look at the items they have on the shelves. I'm telling you, I was like a kid in a candy store!

This one's SPY+. A brand made popular during the mid 90's designed and created by achiever athletes and design freaks from California now gearing to some of the world's best technical eye wear. It's here in General, one look and you're hooked!

Cross Pens are as historical as my college life. I've donned one of these engraved wonders which signifies stature and class even at that time. They carry these now for smart executives who would want to see high quality pens that's sophisticated and stylish at the same time. Why not? I own one already :)

Gentlemen's Tonic Babassu Bergamot Pre Shave Oil, Aftershave cream, Foaming facial Cleanser, Classic shave cream and brush. It's all signature grooming products or the sophisticated man. If you've got taste, this definitely should be in your regimen. It's also got that woodsy tones as its fragrance, so for those who want something light and fresh, get it! I want to review this so bad! :)

 In a nutshell, they carry some of my favorite brands. Upscale yes, but very much worth it!

Unknown to me, I didn't know that MINI Cooper had their own collection. It's all BRIT chic and the vibe totally coincides with the General store. I wanted the jacket and shirts. Heck I love the small MINI car too. Aside from that, MINI showed their latest campaign that evening.

Imagine a 6 foot duck on top of a MINI car, then it roamed around BGC quite a few times. Not asking why, but WHY NOT? Their tag line... NOT NORMAL. This duck will be also displayed on the General store until they change faces again pretty soon.Check this out!

GENERAL PH you have all the brands I love. For Men who want their lifestyle be as classy, easy and sophisticated... drop by their store at C1 in Bonifacio High Street. It's heaven I tell you! Congratulations to the Primer Group of Companies for putting this up! You have no idea how I felt when I was there. It was surreal! Thank you for getting all these brands in one place!
