GERALD ANDERSON and KYLIE PADILLA for UNRAVEL

Wednesday, March 29, 2023

Mavx Productions has a gem in their hands as the Gerald Anderson and Kylie Padilla film called UNRAVEL is quite an interesting piece. This is their entry to the Summer Metro Manila Film Festival wherein they chose mental health as a topic which is pretty much a timely thing to discuss.

It definitely is something new too because they also put in VAD (or Voluntary Assisted D3@th) which is legal in some countries, but really not allowed by law in others. It also is emotionally daunting to be in their position with the complexities of their personalities, their family situations and love. It didn't help that they had to qualify patients that would go through VAD because at the end of the day, they were dealing with lives of people.

Kylie plays the role of Lucy who has been suffering from clinical depression then decides to fly to  another country where it is permitted in the hopes of doing VAD. Gerald Anderson on the other hand plays Noah who in all circumstances would want to keep her alive.

Kylie says "I had a great time, in the beginning it was surreal. I put my trust in Mavx Productions and Direk. I was really afraid about the material because it was dark, I had anxiety attacks after reading the material, but I hope people who go through this see hope, to hopefully save more people. I was a fan of kimerald, I just had to concentrate on work in doing this film."

Gerald adds "She is a good representative for her home network and working with her was a breeze. As an actor, I haven't experienced doing this kind of material, I feel people should always be nice, we all have our journeys because Noah and Lucy had their own battles. Kylie was very professional, it made us shoot easily because she was a cowboy."

This is the first time that the Summer MMFF is happening and their entry  is also part of their celebration of Star Magic's 30th Anniversary. They have filmed this piece in Switzerland. It is certainly quite breathtaking to see. It's a perfect backdrop to any film, even if the topic of d3@th was a tad depressing, you can't help but marvel at how gorgeous the place is. Is it good to watch? Definitely. You'll learn something, you don't know who's suffering.

If you need mental help, Hopeline is available at 09175584673. Give them a call if you feel the need to.

Gerald Anderson and Julia Barretto for Between Maybes

Thursday, May 16, 2019

It looks like Black Sheep is trying another formula as they pair up Julia Barretto and Gerald Anderson for the movie Between Maybes. It’s not fully a romcom but a very light romance.

The setting is a little over 2 hours away from Fukuoka, in a place called Saga. The character is very close to real life Julia but she stressed “At the end of the day it’s my job and it was needed in the script and without it the gravity of the situation won’t have impact, it tells intimacy and it should be done as actors, it shouldn’t be an issue. My mom was happy and she appreciates Gerald in the film too. I don’t think he watched it or I don’t know if he will, he knows it and when he knew about it he told me he acknowledged it and if it is needed he’ll understand, I appreciate that part. I think people forget that we have management, this is well thought of and it’s all laid out in a plan. I have always liked tea even before the shoot.”

JP Laxamana says “The script wasn’t thinking with any actress in mind so when they asked for the requirement she did it. I really admire her, I didn’t want to get limited creatively. We did a workshop before shooting this film and they are good actors to begin with. As I said she is being a professional actress and they knew how to deliver the vision.”

Gerald says “There are days when I want to do this too, there are a lot of people who want to relate to it. I focused on Louie and how he found someone thinking it would bring him happiness but it didn’t end that way. Louie is very distinct, it happens to OFW’s and it’s not hard to emulate something real. I may not be much like Louie, but if you think about it he’s like much of our kababayans who work outside the country.”

Saga was essential for them because it was all quiet, during the whole shoot there they probably saw around 5 people in the community and it was normal, only a handful Filipinos from other cities went there when they got word they were shooting there too. It felt so serene and they had a conscious effort to not look like a tourist spot hopping location, it was rural Japanese villages, it was a decision for them to feature the community.

If you love Gerald, Julia, and Japan, take it to the movies and make them a box office success. This is under Black Sheep productions and there will be screenings in the US, some EU, Asian countries, Japan too. Gerald and Julia is currently in the cover of Saga’s official mag, if you can get a hold of it.

It shows May 15.

Gerald Anderson and Bea Alonzo for How To Be Yours

Thursday, July 28, 2016

Now at the blogcon for How To Be Yours, the current film starring Gerald Anderson, Bea Alonzo, and is produced by Star Cinema. This is Directed by Dan Villegas and we started by asking them about attempts of piracy in Facebook.

Gerald is grateful about getting this project because he had films that had stellar reviews that didn't fare well in the market but had a few that didn't do well with reviews but was good in the box office, this time they had both. He also said there were a couple of scenes that didn't make the cut, and he was surprised about how everything was put together. Gerald added "The Love scenes, Bea was stunning, and it was absolutely magical."

"I was okay, I was comfortable, I was nervous but it felt like another scene, but it looked so nice on screen. It was awkward at first, but when I dissected it, I had to be in his arms, I had to come to terms that we're a couple and that was the highlight of the film. If you were there, you will remeber the pain, but when it's already put together you just have to trust the cinematographer because when we saw it, it all made sense!" says Bea.

Gerald interjects "Yes there was a conscious effort to make her feel that it was easy. With any leading lady I wanted to let her know that I'd be there to support her. It was filial love so we wanted to enjoy the moment and it had to show on screen."

It's showing on theaters now! Go watch it!

The Gerald Anderson Foundation

Sunday, March 13, 2016

Fresh from his very successful movie "Always be my Maybe" with vixen Arci Muñoz, Gerald Anderson now takes the role of a philantrophist as he puts on his own new training school for super hero pets with "The Gerald Anderson Foundation". The fund will be used to train dogs specifically meant to be for search and rescue operations. This coincided with his birthday last week as his way of giving back to the community. He also seeked the help of his Dad and brother Ken who will mostly facilitate the trainings set in Clark Airbase in Pampanga.

They are currently training 4 dogs in the facility but the hope is to get this into the grassroots level. We all know calamities have struck the country and the aid of our k9 friends would definitely help in making search and rescue fast if we train dogs in the community. That would enable dog owners and lovers to be a step beyond just being a companion in the household. Now they can be of help when earthquakes, floods or any incident where search and rescue is of utmost importance.

His celebrity friends like Piolo Pascual, Rayver Cruz and Enchcong Dee also expressed their support for the project and had shown great interest to help the good looking former PBB housemate with his cause. Most of the proceeds of his foundation will go to the food and vitamins so they could have these superheroes in tip top shape. I asked Gerald about how he thinks he became very successful in the film and tv industry and he quipped it is all because of the countless people and fans who have helped him all these years. Here's a very short interview we did during the conference.

If you would like to help Gerald and his family get these dogs shelter and become the super heroes they are destined for, you can help by donating to his cause. Visit their official website www.geraldandersonfoundation.org or email info@geraldandersonfoundation.org or donations@geraldandersonfoundation.org if you need to ask questions about how to help in this cause that Gerald Anderson is heading. Gerald Anderson and Arci Muñoz for Always Be My Maybe

Sunday, February 21, 2016

It's another romantic comedy film this time from Star Cinema, with a different combination as this is the first pairing of Gerald Anderson and Arci Muñoz. It's a story of two people who gave up on love and later finding out they actually might be the ones falling in love too.

Jake played by Gerald Anderson just got dumped by his girlfriend of 6 years. He proposed and got rejected, something that really hurt him the most. Tin-tin on the other hand (played by Arci Muñoz) just got off a no strings attached, no label relationship. She found out later on that he got back with his greatest love, one that she couldn't imagine happening. It did hurt her, a lot in fact, she couldn't even function normally. That's where they agreed to move on together, hopefully with a make believe relationship, but what if they suddenly fall in love?

The cast also includes Nikki Valdez, Carlo Aquino, TJ Trinidad, Kakai Bautista, Matt Evans, Jane Oineza and Mr. Tirso Cruz III. This is also directed by Dan Villegas who did blockbuster movies "Walang Forever", English Only Please and The Breakup Playlist among others. This is showing on February 24, 2016 and is under Star Cinema.
