See a More Daring KATHRYN BERNARDO and Vulnerable ALDEN RICHARDS in HELLO LOVE AGAIN

Thursday, November 14, 2024

After years of missing these two on screen, we finally have HELLO LOVE GOODBYE's sequel, HELLO LOVE AGAIN.

Ethan and Joy's story continues in Canada. This film discusses about their love story continuing in a different place, and circumstances after the COVID-19 outbreak which has affected us all. This time, after all those things that happened in Hong Kong, Joy and Ethan went through the reality of long distance relationships, and suddenly become strangers.

Their story is much like a lot of OFW's out ther, trying to find new life in an unfamiliar place, and Direk Cathy Garcia Sampana easily intertwines their love story in it, to later find the need to fix themselves and their lives.

The story also discusses how they became so insanely hurt in the process, and prioritize how to look for a better life for them, and their respective families.

The movie definitely needs to be seen because the story becomes extra interesting compared to the first blockbuster movie. Aside from that, this second installment is full of things that you can learn about with family relationships, love, the trials, and those that go through the life of someone who chose to work abroad so their families back home can live comfortably.

The movie will also give you a bit of a shock because Alden and Kathryn gave a different life to Ethan and Joy. Their characters became bold, tough, and matured over those 5 years. Their performance elicited tears from the audience, including guys who wouldn't admit what they did inside the dark theater. One should note of Joross Gamboa's quirky dialogues which made the dramatic scenes a bit funny than usual because his role as the common friend had the apt punchlines needed to keep it light and realistic.

You'll also get to see what the real TRUTH brings, if it hurts, or if it becomes the source of their bliss. Ethan and Joy needs to decide about their fate, is this the end? Or will this be the start of a new life? Or will this be the start of their FOREVER?!

I'd like to take this bit to thank the folks from realme (Kathryn's current phone is the one I'm using, the realme 13 pro). They brought us to the cinemas to watch the film, but they suddenly brought out the two lead actors to surprise us at the cinema! Check this out!

This is Alden's best so far and Kathryn's most feisty role. The changes alone should automatically be a reason to watch this movie. The story and direction comes a close second, because if the first one made waves here and abroad, this should catapult them to elsewhere after seeing their performance.

The pairing is relatively young, but they definitely gave more of themselves in this movie, head on to theaters and make this an even bigger hit than the first one!

Congratulations to GMA Films, ABSCBN Studios and Star Cinema. It's out on theaters now!

WIN METAWIN and JANELLA SALVADOR Star in UNDER PARALLEL SKIES: Fans Went Crazy Inside the Cinema!

Wednesday, April 17, 2024

Seeing people flock the SM Mega Fashion Hall this afternoon reminded me how big of a star Win Metawin and Janella Salvador is. The superstar from Thailand and the noted actress from the Philippines star in this film called "Under Parallel Skies" shot in Hong Kong. This is produced by 28 Squared Studios and Two Infinity Entertainment, set to be released by Warner Brothers Pictures this April 17th (Philippines) and on May 9th (for Thailand).

Surely, this must have been a bit difficult to do but with Director Sigrid Bernardo at the helm of this project, it would be easy since she's done several award winning and successful films shot outside the country (like Kita Kita etc.). SM Fashion Hall got packed during the mall show with fans of both Janella and Win screaming at the top of their lungs even before the actual stars arrived at the venue. When they did, it was so loud you could hear it on our videos literally.

Then on the red carpet (since this is the premiere night) , celebrity friends of the Director Sigrid Bernardo, Producer Richard Juan, Janella and Win, all came to the venue to help promote the movie. My favorite part of course was when Alexa Ilacad and KD Estrada joined in to give a song a capella. It was so nice they came in throngs to support the two.

When we watched the film, it was more of a romance genre. I bet Win's fans would be surprised about certain scenes they wouldn't believe he could do. I also love his Mom in the movie, they do have certain parts with monologues you can learn a thing or two from. Janella on the other hand feels natural, I love her very quirky scenes because they did insert Filipino humor which was quite cute. Yes there are small flaws, but overall they were able to tell a really good story that encompasses locations. You also get to know an even slower side of Hong Kong which I think is charming, especially when Janella and Win were together, building their dreams with Thai Milk Tea and Adobong Siopao.

So, if you're a fan of either Win or Janella, bring your friends and prepare for a KILIG filled movie which you can watch over and over again.

Congratulations to the men and women who made this possible, although I'm a BrightWin fan, it was refreshing to see these actors tell a story and see something really unexpected. I love it, it's cute!

Thanks to the Hong Kong Tourism Board for inviting us!

Still Human - A Film That Needs To Be Seen

Saturday, August 10, 2019

Just got off the private screening of Still Human. A film made and produced by organizations in Hong Kong. It was indeed a masterpiece, starring Anthony Wong and Crisel Consunji. Shot entirely in the progressive financial district, it talks about the life of an OFW in Hong Kong and local elderly man who initially had hesitations having a Filipina maid but got to like her after a few days. It was so nice and fresh, it wasn’t an entirely depressing sob story but you will surely cry especially on scenes about family, sacrifice, and how the female lead star Crisel ended up with her character - to achieve hope, to dream with the help of her employer.

Crisel Consunji says “Went to Hong Kong and told myself I had to make a difference, I was taken aback when I saw women that are empowered that they didn’t need my help. There are many Filipinas in HK 210,000 work in the Domestic Help industry. Some to note are dragon boat rowers, accomplished photographers, mountain hikers, in spite of many odds these are breaking barriers. When I walk in central, I see people like me, but I think now is a wonderful time to listen what they have to say. This film is called Still Human. Working with a legend was blissful, he was generous, you can’t expect anything else. He is very outspoken, he wasn’t even paid for it. He said “Because it is high time we cast Filipinas as they are part of our society.” I gave them a call and auditioned, he treated the story with respect and I felt I cannot not be part of this. I did two scenes and exchanged ideas during the process and got it.”

True enough, they have been nominated in several categories, won Best Actor for Anthony Wong and Best New Performer + a Best Actress nomination for Crisel. She’s also the first Filipina to do so and they’re changing things in HK society. Anthony revered this as an acting piece and didn’t even ask for payment to do the project. This is under No Ceiling Film Productions and have yet to be commercially released in the Philippines. I was expecting less about the story, but they definitely touched me, and over delivered. This needs to be seen and trust me, even if you’re a grown man, you will feel it.

Myke Celis Does TEDx Hong Kong and TEDxYouth Lucena City

Monday, April 22, 2019

It looks like Life Coach Myke Celis is in a roll. He did a few TEDx stints in Malaysia and just recently he did TEDxCUHK in Hong Kong last April 6, 2019 as part of the roster of speakers of the event.

He says “This really was a dream cone true and I had to even wear a Superman costume to prove a point. I discussed “STUCKcess: When Success Plateaus” and how we were all brought up to be invincible like him. But I digress, we all have a purpose and what’s important is how we all grew in the process, to be our own heroes and how we can become our #bestmeever.”

“There were about 500 people in the audience, it was the biggest I’ve ever done a talk in. It was life changing and I am so grateful even my co speakers messaged me and told me how they enjoyed the topic.”

He also did a talk in Lucena City via TEDxYouthLucena, he wanted to inspire more people and had to start them young.

Right now, he is still busy with his #BestMeEver Self Actualizarion Personal Breakthrough Program slated on May 3. If you want to collaborate or get in touch with Myke Celis, you may contact him via myke@bestmeever.com.

The New Kata M1, Re-Launch of Kata i3 and the Kata Singing Idol Event

Wednesday, April 09, 2014

This is the first time that I'm seeing KATA, a new mobile brand based in Hong Kong and the Philippines. With the era of mobile phone manufacturers giving ample presence in our country, Kata presents itself with the re-launch of their Kata i3 and the formidable Kata M1 models that will surely make Filipino consumers excited about their brand. Before that, we got to enjoy their Kata Singing Idol Search during their event in SM City North Edsa a few days ago. This was practically a Facebook Fan Page search turned singing contest. I must say, they've got really good singers that afternoon that delighted the crowd.

These ladies, Ms. Ma. Anna Marie Boctoy, Ms. Crystal Lagman and Ms. Stephanie Lee were the top 3 finalists who made it. They performed “Not Like The Movies” by Katy Perry, “Let It Go” from the Disney movie Frozen and “Chasing Pavements” by Adele respectively.

Kata’s Country Manager, Manuel Delos Santos, Melchor Villamor, Asst. Operations Manager were also there during the event. They awarded the winners with their own Kata Mobile phones. The winner also won a brand new spanking Kata i3! Seen on the photo above is the Voice of the Philippines Season 1 contestant Deb Victa also hosted the show. I must say, she was good.

I was a little jealous though when the winner was announced. The Kata i3 she got has a 5-inch Super HD display and a 1.3 GHz Quad Core processor. It's also got a whopping 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera that takes sharper images. It's 16GB internal memory that is expandable up to 32GB promises you'll have all the apps you need when you use it. Congratulations Crystal Lagman! The first ever Kata Singing Idol! Runner ups went home with Kata Venus 3 too.

Aside from that, they gave away tons of prizes to lucky customers that afternoon. Some of these guys have won in contests hosted in Kata Digital Philippines' Facebook page so I highly suggest you follow their channels below.

Then they announced the new Kata M1!It's pegged at the affordable price of Php 9,999.00 (formerly almost 12K). I love the RAM they put in on this unit plus the really nice specifications on the rear and front cameras. You'll surely love the shots if you get to have these new Kata phones. I haven't tested one yet but all Kata Stores and Kata kiosks have them on display. They can easily let you test it out if you plan to buy one. Hopefully they can lend me a review unit soon.

Vikings: Premiers September 29 at History Channel Asia

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

I was so happy to have been able to see another talked about series ahead of the rest of Asia called VIKINGS. It's on its second season and has been able to amass its own following in the US, Europe and now Asia. It's also going to be shown on HISTORY channel which I'm so lucky about because I have it at home. You should definitely watch it on HD because it's totally worth it!

Here's a sneak peek at season II

(Video credits owned by History Channel on Youtube)

Imagine men, who promised to be brothers then went on a journey to the other end of the world. Claimed land and got victorious on different battles, but in the end met each other in different sides of the fence; end up wanting to kill each other through rough, mud and ocean water indulged brute war. It was awesome to watch the first few episodes and you'll surely get hooked seeing the twists and turns on Season II. You'll miss your Norse mythological characters all over again plus see some things more than skin, the act itself and some other unexpected scenes you would have to keep away from kids.

I highly suggest you start season 2 sitting down and concentrating on how to understand the story because even a skeptic like me really LOVED it! You will also have that time to see how honorable Ragnar Lothbrok (played by Travis Fimmel) is in the series. Plus (during the event), we even got cool stuff from the History channel too!

Vikings will be shown on HISTORY CHANNEL ASIA come September 29. It's a little late than in North America but as long as it's here I WILL PROMISE TO WATCH IT. Even if they say I'm a pagan after the show hehe. Oh and before I forget, they will be giving away a HARLEY DAVIDSON bike if you watch it on Sunday at 10PM. Just look out for the CODE WORD and enter it on http://www.vikingsasia.com/. Who knows, it could be you who'll win this! =)

Daily Rants 09022010

Friday, September 03, 2010

I hate the fact that they sent the bodies of the dead HK nationals (via the Manila Hostage Crisis) and they mislabeled it. Someone has got to get fired. I hate talking about the hostage situation. I hate seeing HK politicians talking S*** about our country when this is supposed to be an isolated case. They are blowing it out of proportion so they would look good for their people. I hate saying sorry for something that one criminal did. So I'm stopping. They said it was the fault of the funeral homes. Potatoe potahtoe. 2 survivors said they will talk about the incident now. I wonder who will go there and get their sides.

Pacquiao is going to be exempted from not attending hearings. He can go and still get paid. The hostage crisis in the US took 2 hours, and got the culprit dead. They are obviously comparing that to the one that happened here. Let them get the bus here and do that again.

Payment for teachers are going to be paid for their election duties. Hello? We already have a President and they just thought about doing that now? The SONA has already been done for crying out loud!

I saw some bloggers from other sites, it looks like they are having fun. I'm not. Hehehe.

There are going to be 5 Filipino nationals that are going to be hanged. 4 of them Pinays and 1 Pinoy... all about drug trafficking. If they did it, go ahead. But if its just to get revenge, think twice, I think we have some druglords stocked in our jails too. Not that I'm suggesting!

There are 2 kids who got in a fight because of playing spiders. They chopped each other in Negros Occidental! How gory! Yuck! Oh, I remember, I'm from that province too!

Rant off.

I love how bloggers show their love on their posts. I get inspired. I won't complain why I'm single but hell get me one of my own please! LOL I deserve one right?!

I want to commend my Dad for getting Senior Citizens discount. Because utilities will be included next month. That's great since he uses air conditioning a lot! Ha-ha!

I hope someday, someway, love will find my way.... well not now, I'm having fun every weekend. I go out so much that I sooo enjoy it! =)

Another Crazy Day in a Crazy World

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

I guess both you and I know what happened yesterday and today huh?! I think another bipolar disorder in everyone just struck. Some people died in the hostage situation yesterday and I together with the sensible people in this world pray that those who survived are OK. I'm so sad about what is happening. I'm sure you have the same sentiments. Now we're back to pointing fingers again. Well, honestly I felt this was only a small incident that was blown out of proportion because of media. Now that people died, even the media did not accept their faults. PNOY already said something about it and their problems. A blackout in media should have been done so it would have less complications. The hostage taker was apparently watching and listening to radio. Now he's also dead, who the hell are we going to ask and stay in jail?

Congratulations Maria Venus Raj! For getting 4th Runner up place in Ms. Universe! That 22 inch waistline must have come from somewhere!

On another page, we could have bagged another Ms Universe crown too but we kinda fell short on the interview portion. It's okay though since she ended up in 4th runner up position. I think she'll come home and get everyone cheering for her despite all the drama and brouhaha yesterday. Hope it lifts everyone's spirit even after that bloody end of atrocities. I'm still happy about that because it at least took our visions out of whatever happened yesterday.

To the Mexicans: Let's just meet next time in the ring! Ha-ha!

Tsip Tsao and his Public Apology

Wednesday, April 01, 2009

Just this evening I heard over the radio (while taking a bath) Mr. Tsao went to the consulate in HK and faced the media, Migrante International, the Filipino community and the consuls themselves. He personally apologized and bowed 3 times as a sign of his sincere apology. That was one of the things I was personally waiting for. I can forgive like any normal human would do... but I don't forget. Racism is a huge issue. I hope he learns his history first when the British were treating Chinese lower than dogs, and when they in the 50's and 60's begged to gain entry in the Philippines in hopes of a better life. If I were to start a word war with him, we should start there so he knows where he's coming from. Remember when we were portrayed INDIOS in books and their race was even lower than us? If we were to start racism with that, I'm sure they would not like to hear it at all to begin with.

I am a Filipino of Spanish decent, but I am still a Filipino. We all have an uncertain future. We may have one or more of these things to think about in our lifetime. We maybe on top or way below the poverty line that society dictates. The difference between us though is I'm not hypocritical in saying we all have our own way of saying things... but I'm not going to the path he chose of going overboard and insult a whole generation of impoverished people just because I am where I am. Cast the first stone at me and you bet your sorry A$$ I'll throw you the GRAND CANYON!
