Family History Delivers Ugly Cries, Spitting Laughter

Thursday, July 25, 2019

Maybe just maybe, I was expecting less from this project... but they delivered.

Albeit no stranger in front and at the back of the camera, Michael V has stretched feathers among his many hats to be a real life Producer, Director, Writer and Actor for this film called Family History. I have never, been ever, effectively been confused about my feelings while watching a film because as soon as the hospital scenes started (oh that'll be early), I was already trying to stop myself from totally balling in the dark because I didn't want people to see me crying.

This is a family film - of sorts, ideal in one side... but totally flawed on the next one. I know while you're reading that you're already getting confused, but trust me, it's because the twist in this film would just be making you even more insecure about your judgement about their characters, neither did they.

I initially thought I would be bored about a family drama, but it wasn’t even a few seconds into the film and people were giggling. Michael V and Ms. Dawn were definitely in a class of their own. Heck I can already say Dawn Zulueta can read a phonebook in a scene and still make you do ugly cry, she’s that good and she did that in several sequences. - undoubtedly, she is an icon!

Michael V on the other hand could stand serious and unfazed with reality in one scene, but stamps his kind of comedy. He is definitely an authority, how can you not be impressed with the very talented Bitoy, who up to this moment I’ve lost count on figuring out how many times he’s transformed into different characters. You will see that happen here so many times. The movie might come off to you as clear, with very nice treatment and color grading but injects several graphics to denote out of this world reactions to everyday struggles. It was a secret nobody knew would happen, and that part was totally effective especially when he was talking to his boss and best man.

A word of warning, there will be continuous flashbacks, and it is necessary. It gives you a backgrounder on why and how they ended up that way, so you too could understand how characters work.

It is an awesome film with realistic, heart wrenching situations. If there's a takeaway from this movie, it's the capacity of the human heart to forgive and how to love without condiions (or is it?). Now I suggest you go find yourself some good cinema seats and be awed by how Michael V creates his first mainstream movie with effective artists and make you feel crazy. Hope you’ll end up crying and laughing at the same time, just like me when I was watching it. In the meantime, I didn't want to waste time so here are some of the celebrities that graced the event that afternoon.

I also have huge urge on what ideal movies to watch, this is one nice story.

Worth every penny, because they over delivered. You'll leave the dark halls hopeful - and happy.

Michael V for Family History

Friday, May 24, 2019

One just not question Michael V’s genius. His humor and brand of comedy has spanned several years in different channels, different shows and just about every hilarious music video they’ve made since the 90’s. This year, we all got word that he’s working with GMA Pictures and his own outfit called Mic Test Entertainment Inc. as creator and lead actor in a movie called FAMILY HISTORY. In a story conference a few months back, we learned that other stars like Dawn Zulueta, Paulo Contis, Bianca Umali, Miguel Tanfelix, Nonie Buencamino, Kakai Bautista, Ina Feleo, Mikoy Morales, Vince Gamad, Jemwell Ventenilla and Nikki Co also joined in the cast.

The big ensemble seem to be essential to the story and with how has been able to do great work in the past few years, he’s bound to do something even greater this coming July so expect a masterpiece to appear this mid 2019. This is also the first time where Ms. Dawn Zulueta and Michael V will be teamed up on screen but I bid these seasoned actors won’t find anything hard to do especially because they’ve done comedy in past projects already.

I can’t wait to see more of this when they start showing the film in theaters nationwide and perhaps on digital streaming sites too. This isn’t the first time Michael V has directed something because most of the legwork and comedy in Bubble Gang is credited to him. I wouldn’t be surprised if people would want to watch something fun from Bitoy!

Stay tuned on GMA’s social media properties because it’s also going to be teased on these channels. This is going to be fun, we can’t wait!

Bubble Gang Stages Musical On Their 22nd Anniversary

Friday, November 17, 2017

Has it really been that long? Yeah, I feel old all of a sudden. It's our favorite Gag show's 22nd anniversary, if you count that alone it's like an adult already but they're still dishing out jokes, skits, entertaining numbers every Friday on GMA. They must have felt it's time to actually do something different, something that they all have never done before, and this Friday they'll tell you a LAUGH story with the use of the songs of Parokya Ni Edgar who has encompassed and been loved by generations of Baby Boomers, Generation X, Y, Xennials, Millenials and just about anyone in the Philippines. We were there when they taped this two part episode a few days ago.

Let me just tell you first, this was absolutely an awesome show! I saw Michael V, Kim Domingo, Paolo Contis, Mikael Daez, Betong Sumaya, Diego and the rest of the cast sing and dance all throughout the performance treating it like they've been doing theater already. If you see this all later, you would probably be one of the many people who would want to see this staged.

I also saw that Michael V was a big part of the production, he even made changes to the script and seeked the help of real theater directors in order to put this out there. We were not really allowed to take videos inside the studio but trust me, all these photos don't do justice with the show they're about to broadcast later at 10PM. Parokya Bentedos is also about a love story, but I don't want to spoil things so make sure you watch the first part later!

I extremely like Betong's character here as Michael V's Mom, his antics portraying that just had us laughing everytime she sings. The kind that would almost make you pee in your pants lol!

Juancho Trivino, Antonio Aquitana, Mikoy Morales are also in this musical. You might hate or love them in the end.

Please make sure you watch their show later this evening as Bubble Gang presents Parokya Bentedos: A Laugh Story on the heart of Asia, GMA!

The Kapuso Comedy Festival: Paolo Contis, Ruffa Mae Quinto, Charise Solomon, Kevin Santos, Mosang and Boobay

Monday, November 30, 2015

It was a super fun night to be with the brightest comedy stars of GMA a few days ago in what was dubbed as the Kapuso Comedy Festival. We got the chance to experience playing small games with Bubble Gang's Paolo Contis, Ruffa Mae Quinto, Charise Solomon, Ismol Family's Kevin Santos, Pepito Manaloto's Mosang during the blogcon at TGI Friday's in Tomas Morato, Quezon City. Hosting the small gathering was super funny Boobay who's also a part of Celebrity Bluff. It was a blast to meet new people and very talented ones at that. During the event, we first talked to the people from Bubble Gang who's actually celebrating their 20th year in the show. They planned a big event last November 27 and sure enough, there were tons of stars who went back on the show. This includes those who have also gone and sought refuge in other networks. They were all dolled up and gorgeous, I saw it on TV.

Here are some excerpts during the Kapuso Comedy Festival Blogcon:

It's such a good thing to see that GMA is still making efforts to make shows that are apt for the general Filipino audience. We still smile a midst the countless problems we have in our daily lives. Comedy is hard to do, they all agreed to that. In fact some of them do find it quite difficult to crack a joke than cry in a scene. The personalities, as varied as they might seem like on screen have one thing in particular in mind when they entertain people... they think about YOU, the viewing public and how you could spend a couple minutes of your time in front of the TV and forget the day's problems. No matter how small you think that is, it means countless  hours of work and brainstorming for most of these comedians. They even promise to do more in the future especially Bubble Gang who already informed us of new characters and new gimmicks in the next episodes. Are you excited as I am? :)

Thank you to GMA Social Media, Paolo Contis, Ruffa Mae Quinto, Charise Solomon, Kevin Santos, Pepito Manaloto, Mosang and Boobay for spending time with us. It's such a nice thing to get to know and talk to you personally. Again, thank you!

Happy Birthday Sef Cadayona!

Sunday, March 16, 2014

We had the chance to see Sef Cadayona in the flesh a few days ago. It's his birthday so I have to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY SEF! Haha! He's one of my favorite stars in Bubble Gang next to Michael V especially when he plays Selphie in skits Ikaw at Ang Ina. He's one hilarious chap and I was pretty impressed when I met him that afternoon. He's not only funny, but really good looking too. He also is part of Sunday All Stars and I've reckoned he fancies one talent the most... he loves dancing!

The event was also hosted by Betong and Tess Bomb, both whom are good friends of Sef. He's also delighted that his sponsors Cornetto, RRJ, Sweet Escape cupcakes helped in making the event more special with their produts. Kudos also to GMA Artist Center for arranging this and organizing a full blown dance contest just for Sef!

Then we all sat down and watched how these dancers from not so well off areas performed. They are quite a talented bunch.

Simple Guyz had crumping on their performance. A more army kind of feel.

I am Crew District on the other hand danced on very good RnB music.

Technical Force saved the best for last. They had a very good theatrical performance. Some parts made the audience have goosebumps no joke!

The panel of judges really had a hard time choosing the winner. Shown above are Mark Sablan from GMA Artist Center, Mayton Eugenio the daughter of Geline Eugenio and an upcoming actress, the main man himself birthday boy Sef Cadayona and Bing Manalo of GMA Artist Center too.

Sef Cadayona is so thankful to everyone who has supported him all these years and hope that his career will continue to flourish in the coming years. He still wants to do more in this industry and knows how much support he's getting from the network, his management and friends. He wishes also that his fans support him on Sunday All Stars as he's part of Rocco Nacino's team Tweet Hearts along with other GMA artists. You'll also see him on Vampire ang Daddy Ko and Bubble Gang every week!

Please continue to support him as I do too. I'll watch every Bubble Gang episode you can quote me on that! :) Happy happy birthday Sef! Thanks for being so nice too!
