We're moving to the other building!

Thursday, December 02, 2010

We're going to transfer to the corporate building and will be leaving this asylum looking one tonight. Although there have been good memories we need a more pleasing place to stay to do business. I had my boss call this current one we are in like a hospital room so there are no arguments about that. The one we're going to is a little better but there's one small problem; we won't have privacy. The walls are made of tempered glass so everyone could literally look at us from the outside. This is not good for us who need some quiet space when doing our job and I wish there was pleated conservatory blinds that we can use to address this issue. I'll contact some people from administration so they can procure them before I step into the other building. That's a great plan!

My team will be handling a lot of communication from the outside world because of new requirements. I will be working hard this month just like what I've been doing in the past. I need privacy just like everybody else in this world and if that small detail would do it for me this would be bliss! I'll try and see if I can make that place a better one than when we found it. If the people before us didn't remove the blinds there we wouldn't have to scuffle so hard to find new ones. Although it would turn out better looking now that I've got my eye on cozy ones I saw on line. It's turning out to be a pretty good day!

How's the weather in your neck of the woods?!

Moving South: Peace and Quiet

Saturday, October 02, 2010

I'm going to have a short trip to the south so I could get my things to our house there. I've been going there every weekend and it has cost me a lot. If you think about it, I'm probably going to have problems moving big furniture because it wouldn't fit the back of the van. It makes me wish some houston moving company would come and help me. It would have been faster and a lot better. I know how hard it is going to get when that time comes. I haven't even finished decorating it yet because I don't have the swing I plan to put on the porch. I'm still trying to get the table and country style pieces from a couple of stores. This is going to be great!

Having the best things in life was one of the reasons I started writing. With this in the works I'm sure I'll have my own sweet refuge where no one would be able to find me. It's pretty far from Manila but that is one of the charming things about it... its remoteness from the city. It's pretty hard to travel but the benefits of peace and quiet seem to have outweighed it. I want to see my family to enjoy that too in the near future. After all, it was bought for them.

That just made me think a lot... sometimes I enjoy the noise of the city and also the quiet countryside. How about you?!

Storage Options

Thursday, September 30, 2010

I have a lot of things in my mind right now and I'm not surprised. The hours I spend with work and photography has been really stressful. I chose this life and I'm not complaining. It's just that I'm running out of time. I have to get all my things out so I can get them to our home in the south. I wish we had something like what a storage company has so I wouldn't have any problems while I'm in between places. I'm nervous about putting the large furniture, filing cabinet, and some office paraphernalia elsewhere when I could have had it somewhere secure. Transportation services should have been easy for me too but I guess that goes with living in this side of the world. We don't have the comfort of living easy with services like that and I wish there was some way we can do this. Life isn't really that easy without it!

Apart from that realization, I'm beginning to think that I am at least lucky finding out something about it. At least I'm the one informed. Having these things would have made getting in and out of our home in the metro easier. We're not that lucky though to have everything organized and stored in one place first before we can get to move them. The logistics really would be another story. If in the near future they would actually be here; not just those trucking and transfer companies we seldom get... this city would be a better place. I wouldn't have to do move out if things were easy! You know what I mean! Peace of mind is priceless!

Do you rent places? Have you moved from one place to another? What problems did you encounter while moving? Let me know please!

Spell Organized

Thursday, September 23, 2010

I need to get all my things organized. I bought a couple of cabinets to get my gadgets in alpha but it always seems not enough. I'm also thinking of moving some of my furniture down south as I discussed in the previous post but I have to make sure I get all of them sorted out first because I don't want to live there with tons of boxes. I might need storage so I can put everything in one place first then help me move them via trucks down south. It's also cheaper and I won't have to sacrifice getting my things soaked on heavily forested areas like that. I want to also get some of my office equipment moved there too. I don't want to spend time and be cut off from the rest of the world. I need to have a couple of things still within my reach even if I was in vacation. A couple of months ago I had a hard time getting Internet connection to access my mail and leave instructions in the office.

The high ticket items such as the sofa, bed and a couple of side tables I plan to re-use will also be in the list. I don't have enough muscle to move those things on my own obviously (but really I do) and I hope everything will be alright when the trucking service comes. I want to make this transfer as smooth as possible. I don't want to get my folks stressed. I don't want to get myself involved too much because my back still hurts. If the doctor says I can go ahead and lift heavy again like I used to (thanks to mild scoliosis!) I'd really love to help but since I can't I'd rather pay people to do this for me. I hope it won't cost me an arm and a leg. Things are hard these days and the last thing I'd want to have is a bill that says I'd have to suffer a couple of months just to pay for it. Good thing there are storage services that can help me out in these times!

The Art of Moving: A Good Thing

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

My Aunt already got my grandfathers stuff transferred from his home. He passed away just a week ago. We needed to get it organized and send some of it to charity. I know there are some Los Angeles Movers that would be able to get it done in a short while. I have a lot of things that I left there too. I have no intentions of going there since it is a little expensive. My Aunt is going to get help from the LA Movers and I hope they would be able to finish it before the month's end. If ever I need to get some of my property used for this move, maybe my garage can accommodate his stuff too. I wouldn't want to throw away all of it.

Movers Los Angeles area has been a great help for us. Without them my Aunts wouldn't have men haul all of these things for them. The simple call to 1-323-692-1060 was worth it because they gave them free moving quotes. I would recommend this for people moving in LA. It helped us so I wouldn't be surprised if it also helped other people in the same predicament. I did not have to go there physically anymore but they all got some help and that is a good thing.

Friends Moving!

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

I have friends in LA that are in dire need of help because they don't have guys to help them move to their new apartment units. I suggested they give Los Angeles Movers a call because I heard a lot of nice things about them. It also would be less of a hassle if they gave prices better than my relatives because I heard they plan to charge me a couple of hundred dollars on top of a moving party I suggested them to do. I don't want to get in trouble if they pay for food and beverage and still get charged by their not so close friends since hauling would take them quite a while. It would really be a better option and a practical one at bat if they get a free quote just by calling a toll free number 1-800-431-3920. They would be able to save needed money for interior design and cans of paint which would cost thousands of dollars.

The Movers Los Angeles area has are dependable and would not probably complain if the things weigh too much because I know there was a grand piano there when I visited three years ago (they are music lovers). I want them to take it easy after all they are all girls (and nurses). The Los Angeles Moving Company I suggested would definitely be better than the usual. They need help and it should not be costly to move within the same city right?! I thought so!

Moving On

Monday, May 10, 2010

I just got sad news today that my Grandfather passed away. He's currently in a nursing home in LA and we haven't seen each other in years. When he was here we had lots of fun. I guess it was high time that we all need to bond since he left our family when my Dad was small. It's been 60+ years and now we all have to move on. His stuff that are still there and we may need to transfer things from Irvine and Sacramento. I need to ask my Aunts to hire Moving Company Los Angles to make it easier since we don't have trucks that would be able to haul his things.

I tried to call them earlier but I was not aware of the time zone being 10,000 miles away. We need La Movers so I messaged my Aunt Cora through a social network to call 1-800-431-3920 because it is toll free and they would be able to get a free quote for moving to LA this weekend. I'm paying for it and I don't think it would cost that much. I know it will be very reasonable to hire one since it is the practical thing to do. I don't think it also would be proper for them to become busy with moving while grieving like me. Thank goodness there's Moving Companies in Los Angeles. I would definitely take charge and make necessary arrangements to make things easier for all of us.

I Had No Regrets Moving

Saturday, February 20, 2010

My brother and I bought a parcel of land south of Manila so we could have a vacation home for our folks. This region had lush greens, plantations of pineapple, jack fruit and coffee all around so it was quite a sight to behold. I did not have that much appreciation with nature and stayed in the concrete jungle most of the time; because I feel the need to always hear cars passing by whenever I am at home. My Mom and Dad wanted peace and quiet which is the total opposite so we did succumb to parental pressure and got them their own pad in the outskirts of Manila. It is a 4 hour drive and there are no Los Angeles Moving Companies in the area so just imagine how hard it was to transfer their stuff in the beginning.

When I stayed in LA a few years back I had to move out of my folks house because I was already 18. Moving Companies Los Angeles was able to help me through this daunting task of getting my stuff out of the garage and into a new apartment a few hours away from our LA home. I knew my folks would not agree on it but I had to find my own job and place to live so I could train myself to be more independent. Everyone else was doing it and they turned out fine so I asked my self a couple of times why shouldn't I?! I went ahead and took the initiative to apply on every company I know in Silicon Valley so I could at least afford the place I rented since it is not a joke to have one in that area and I do not know how long my Dad was going to help a bit. I was thinking of having a roommate that time but I was worried about security. If I do not trust the person that much and only resort to have other people live with me it would be extremely awkward. They are not like Movers Los Angeles whom I entrusted to have my stuff to be moved. They even stayed off working hours just to make sure I have all my stuff accounted for. I was thinking if I could get one of my classmates from college to stay with me once I get to know them then it would be easier for me to adapt. USC was an opportunity so I immediately grabbed it when a scholarship was offered to me. My grades were not that bad when I was in high school and I scored ingeniously in their entrance exams and interview. That scholarship saved us a lot of money trouble before I garnered my Computer Engineering degree. Now I work for a multinational corporation that dealt with the best networking products in the whole world and I am glad I ended up so good in the end. Now I even got the chance to stay with my folks every now and then for a vacation. I really did not regret moving out then because just look at where it got me now.

When AUNT JEMIMA Moved

Thursday, February 11, 2010

I miss the time my Aunt was here. I still remember the things we used to do when I was younger. I always get to tag along with her traveling here and out of town because most of the time I was allowed to do so by my folks. I try as much as I can not to be a burden to her since most of the time the meetings she had to go to in far flung places were work related. It started my training to be a little independent early on. It was a good thing and I really appreciate it a lot when she says nice things about me after that. Until such time, they had to move to Irvine California since her folks are already based there. I love going to their place even if I had to travel from Fresno with my Mom back in 1995. Although we were able to do it on a weekend, she had trouble fixing her schedules when she decided to move to LA. Finding Moving Company Los Angeles was pretty hard; and she needed to lift a couple of furniture pieces also. With her frail built I had to help her out at that time.

It was my "Finals" week too so I had problems delegating myself to the task. Mom suggested us to call a toll free number 1-800-431-3920 to get a moving quote and see if they can do the job. Moving Companies Los Angeles was there on time and moved her things in a short span of 5 hours when it could have taken me a week. It was well worth it and I did not even have to lift a finger before my exams. My Aunt was glad too that she met these wonderful people from reputable Los Angeles Moving Companies. I on the other hand felt glad they were so polite and did the job efficiently. They loaded everything in the truck and went on their way to LOS ANGELES without any hitches. Everything went in smooth, nothing got damaged and everyone had a cold pitcher of lemonade after wards. I was so glad they came along when I needed them most.

The Art of Moving

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

Statistics show that there are almost 2000 families moving everyday in the country because of economic, social, political and practical reasons; and I think this is the time I should share my expertise in the subject since I have done that around 10 times in the last decade. I want you to have at least a glimpse of the hardships I went through in moving to apartments, houses and condominiums. It has never been easy for me but let me get you in on what could save a lot of time if you plan to do this too in the next few weeks. Let me show you where to start!

Theoretical planning should be the first thing you should do in the event that you decide "when" to move. I always thought that I was strong willed and I always wanted to plan at the last minute when I have to move since it is already inevitable. I hire professionals like those in Moving Companies Los Angeles if I need things done fast and efficiently. They get the job done even on a few moments notice. My basic things like kitchenware, dinnerware, bedroom and entertainment paraphernalia's are first on the list. I basically need to cook, put them on plates, sleep and keep myself busy on the new place I am moving to so if ever there would be essentials that you have to get first then that would be the ones you should take care of. If ever there are things you might leave because they are too bulky and fragile to travel with then your movers can take good care of that for you. Do not attempt to do it yourself if you are unsure of its safety. Have presence of mind and always take necessary precaution when moving. If your stuff ends up in 2 places, of course there would be one of them that would be left unguarded. You know what to do when that time comes since you do not want to end up buying new stuff for your new apartment if you already have what you need in the first place. I must say that these are hard times. You must make sure to take care of payments, since you are leaving one you must make sure you do not have outstanding bills with your former residence. The new one should also get necessary deposits and advanced payments if needed be. You can never be sure about abrupt spending so make sure you also have cash on hand. If you accomplish these things then moving will be a cinch! I would never want you to be unprepared if you take this step; so make sure you cover what you need when it happens. Moving is an art form so make sure you show your best and be the best at what you do, then you will never fall into unscrupulous individuals when you need help moving. That is the right thing to do and you know it!

Moving On by Moving

Sunday, January 17, 2010

It's been a while since I have written about family members in the US because they have been aloof or quite busy these past few months. The last time was when my Dad's sister passed away and the reasons why we were not able to go to Santa Clara and Daley City at that time. I have some reservations about that but I heard from them this morning. The subject we had to discuss then was all because they had to get her things from town and put them into another Aunt's place so they could sell her property. More local companies can do just that and I hope they can serve people from other counties.

It was nice to hear that people are moving on and see they have recovered from the distraught this has brought to us. They will be still using some of the appliances but for those things which would not fit on their house will be sent to charity. This is a fitting place to get those things so at least it could help other people. I wish them well there and when they get back to the Philippines come December, I would like to make them feel at home. I did not know moving would do a lot of things and start wonderful things for us.

The Art of Moving

Monday, January 11, 2010

As you can see, moving here in the Philippines is totally different. It is triple hard I guess and everything is informal. Even if you do not know people they will try so hard to still help what ever and where ever they can. Movers come in different packages and in Manila; it is so primitive that they just dump everything on 6 to 10 wheeler trucks. From Cabinets, Drawers, whole beds, tables, chairs and ship anchors are just but a regular site to see. It emanated from a local term BAYANIHAN which literally means heroism. In regular terms, it is how people help other people. It is inculcated in our culture but it would be nice if there are corporations that do this professionally. Who would want their things missing all of a sudden when moving from one apartment to the other anyway?!

People should start being civilized and the way to do it is by handling things with care. I remember the time when I helped my Aunt move from East of Manila to another city in the South; she was already packing lots of clutter and the movers thought it was trash. There were actually antique items from the 30's and 40's on the packages and they almost had thrown it out. Imagine thousands of Philippine pesos worth of designer furniture almost ended up just thrown away by people who do not know what they were doing. That could have spelled disaster and loss of property already. Sometimes we should never let other people handle what we treasure because they are not capable enough to handle educated decisions. The question is; are there moving services in the Philippines that can do this?! I guess not!

There are no institutions here like HIREAHELPER which handles people who know what they are specifically doing. From landscaping, moving, cleaning and everyday labor; the list goes on with the expertise they can handle. With that, I hope these moving companies try to reach out in this part of the globe so we get the same services they have in the United States. It would really be a big relief on a very burdensome task for regular people like us. I envy they have professionals who can do this in the US. If you need to, just make sure you give them a call. You'll end up happier in that new home you love!
