Fujifilm Opens First "Wonder Photo Shop" in the Philippines

Saturday, June 27, 2015

It looks like Fujifilm is serious about taking the challenge of fighting a what critics say is a dying industry. When people mentioned in the past about it, it looked more real when other brands closed down like Kodak and the others. They thought of re-imagining things, they thought of your experience inside their stores and made it more attractive than "just the boring film store where you just grab the film and go". At the new and first ever "Wonder Photo Shop" (out of Japan) at UP Town Center they let us take first bite on what seems to be the "new thing" they envisioned for every Fujifilm store in the Southeast Asian Region. It was different, it was appealing, it was young and fresh. All along I thought I was just going to see a photo printing place but this is different, totally.

Wonder Photo Shop Fujifilm

We were welcomed by Nikita who hosted the event, plus a lot of Fujifilm Philippines and Fujifilm executives and digital influencers (if there's such a word). It's quite nice being in the midst of people who you know actually love photography too. Their Fuji mirrorless cameras are dreamy, add to that the multitude of Instax cameras that were on display too. I don't have one so I couldnf't tell if it's better than my Nikon but that's another story. Anyway, we were absolutely packed and I continued to discover a lot more about the store.

Wonder Photo Shop Fujifilm

This is a full blown studio on the right corner side of the store. The new Wonder Photo Shop actually encourages you to have your photos taken inside the store. They have some studio grade flashes which you can use to take photos of your family, your friends, or yourself if you want to. They've also got some special friends (you often call them stuffed toys) which you can use to amp up your  photo shoot. Then you can print them later inside the store, isn't that neat?

They have very affordable prices and they accommodate square prints so if you've got those really good instagram shots you want to immortalize on your wall, this is the place to do it. They also got photo albums where you can take your family or romantic photos and put them in one book. I'll be going back there specifically for that so please follow @kumagcow on IG and see if it's nice on print.

Oh and did I mention they have crafting corners so you can put those photos into your own scrapbooks and give them as gifts too. I also saw some camera accessories, several instax models including the one of a kind Hello Kitty versions that everybody loves!

Wonder Photo Shop Fujifilm

My favorite part of their shop is this! It's a kiosk where you can just attach your phone (if it's an iphone) or install an app (if you're on Android) so you can print them in just a few steps. It's affordable too so I went in and printed 2 shots from the GMA Bloggers Style shoot (oh vote for Team KrisJoy please!) and it looked so good given that it's actually just a few files from my phone.

Even Kristoffer and Joyce loved it when I showed it to them in our Viber group. I say, it's something way cool than what I expected from a photo shop right? Aside from that, the convenience was certainly something that I couldn't imagine would come from a mall shop. I think they also would like you to experience it for yourselves, so I'm going to go ahead and ask you to visit them at the UP Town Center and try it out for yourself. Fujifilm doesn't really know if this will work, but from the looks of it... it's way better than the old boring shops we used to go to right?

The first ever Wonder Photo Shop is at the mall of UP Town Center, situated at the back portion of the lot (new building). I'll have my album printed and show you how they do it on video, perhaps very soon. As for the cameras, I have yet to get my hands on a Fujifilm camera, I don't have the mirrorless ones or the Instax yet but I've got tons of the Instax films here. I can't wait to try them out one of these days.

Art, Love and Passion

Friday, March 18, 2011

I've learned to appreciate art at a very young age not because I have relatives in the industry but because I was fascinated with all things concerned with it. I always wanted our excursions to include visits to reputable museums here and around the metro. Living in a third world country would definitely be one of the few things that could inspire you or force yourself and your mind off things. Making something beautiful out of the impoverished situation is the ideal way of fixing it. I don't have that much money even up to this day to afford such pieces and only get the next best thing if I wanted one for our home. Take a look at this image for example; don't you just feel the passion and emotion on the artwork? That is one of the few things that give me a natural high. It inspires me to say the least. I want to make one myself too but maybe in a different medium like photography. Giclee Fine Art Prints would be one of the few things I'd like to find so I can get them displayed on my home. That's going to be a great thing to have soon!

The love I have for works of art and the times when I need inspiration dictates what particular piece I get interested in. I almost ransacked the museums here in the metro and if that wasn't too bad; to do in a single whim when nobody's looking or maybe get what I need for my own home. I get frustrated each day looking at them but I know pretty soon I'll have these in my hands. What about you? Have you considered getting artworks for your own home?! What particular pieces do you adore? Do you have artists in mind?

Artwork That I'd Adore

Tuesday, October 26, 2010

I've seen a lot of things this weekend that I couldn't get because I'm saving up for artwork that I plan to put up on our living room. Mom says we need one and who can argue with that. I wouldn't want to stare at a blank wall as a conversation piece and I kind of agree that we need some sort of a focal point. My photography would be out of place there because I mainly do fashion and the room's feel is more of classic and contemporary. If there would be something else I could try John Powell Prints looks good.

The strong reds and purple shade on the garden seem to be the perfect accompaniment to the hardwood furniture we already have in state. The darker shade would definitely give this difficult blend of pieces a more cohesive look since it will have a smoother transition on the walls even if we don't change colors. It's relatively a lot cheaper too if I go this path than purchasing the original one so if the time comes when I need to choose I'll tell them to consider it. After all it'll be numbered and hand signed as an authentic digital print. I'm ecstatic and feel a lot of people would say WOW at the sight of it. Imagine how they would react if something this beautiful lands on one of our walls. Mom's going to brag about it for a long time I'm sure!

Have you considered getting digital artwork? Do you have some at home? Care to tell me about it?

Busy... but I can do it!

Friday, May 07, 2010

I must say that it has been a very hectic month for me and my office mates because Boss is in town. This is part of his semiannual visit and we usually do reports up to our necks at these times and to tell you the truth; I am not surprised. The accuracy and reporting we do covers the activities we have done for that same period and we need all the documents to back up our projects for the next few months so we could appropriate funding for these too. On the day itself we also ran out of ink on our Desk jet printer so we had to run and get supplies from the administration department. They begged off and said we had to find our own cheap ink cartridges and just reimburse the cost later. In just the nick of time we had our slides printed out and ready to go and tell the tale of our project. I really got nervous!

When it was my turn to talk in the podium, I mustered up all confidence and started explaining the statistics. My forte was graphs and tables so I didn't waste time starting on numbers indicated on the spread sheet. I compared data from last year and made a few suggestions on how we can improve overall. I also made some plans how we can eliminate spending too much by allocating budgets for office supplies and printing on back pages if the documents are just for ordinary notes. I love how we got to start with the prints we had that day which my boss loved. Someday, somehow it showed how much we care for our business. I love how it worked for us efficiently and it's just almost half the price!

Easy Media Duplication

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

I have given my URBAN themed models some copies of the high resolution pictures I took a few months ago. It was a little overdue. I already have that set sent to the organizers but someone took it out of our virtual drive. Good thing I have them on data DVD; so I recovered and sent them edited copies of it. I have to render more since I entered parts of it in a contest. Luckily I will now have my photo printed in their magazine; but I need high resolution ones. These are commonly large files and I would not be able to fit all of them in one CD or DVD. That is what you will get when you do full frame. Diskette Duplication is quite hard to do since media of this sort is not available at home or even in the office.

I need to also have the release forms ready since some of my subjects are also minors. Most of the street photos I have concern the situation in the streets so I can't really avoid that. I made sure none of them were used for anything but the art of photography. Since I don't know how to quantify how much media I need to supply the event coordinators so they can take a look at my work, I need an institution that would be able to produce large quantities. I also need to have the videos I made for the slide shows I prepared too. I need something like the CD duplication Boston has. Duplication and mastering might take a while if I just leave it to amateurs. I need professionals to do it for me and I expect something that would be able to emulate companies like COPTECH DIGITAL as a standard. I know we can get a lot of information about this there. It's where we can obviously see that Boston Printing has never been better. Thank the heavens for easy media duplication; it made my life a little bit easier!

I Forgot the Shirt!

Monday, March 09, 2009

I forgot one huge thing when I attended the ERASER HEADS Concert, I didn't buy a souvenir shirt! My most revered band immortalized in black or white colored cotton fabric was the last thing I could have done that night to end it all, but we all forgot to do that! OMG! Not only that, I am still in line to buy those shirts from FRANCIS MAGALONA the master rapper who paved the way for rap artists and the whole rap music industry here in the Philippines! Are we really that old to forget these things? I hope not.

We probably should turn to web site stores now and purchase those shirts right away and see if their T-shirts printing capabilities are at par with the world standards. It just won't do justice if it is low quality. We need a good one!
