Eastern Visayas threatened by Tropical Depression Auring

Ooops! This is the wrong Auring! Hahaha!

It's typhoon time again and the first one to grab the letter "A" this year was "Auring". Definitely the best one for fortune tellers (since they are in a crisis too because the Church said not to believe them) and she is not the one in the picture, she's a typhoon that stood still in Eastern Visayas... it's spinning but not moving! Since Auring is not moving at all it is threatening a couple of provinces in the Visayas region. Millions worth of crops will be affected.

At around 10 PM PAGASA said it's center is around 130KM east of Surigao City.It has sustained winds of around 55 kilometers per hour and moving east-north east in around 7KM per hour...that is just too slow for a typhoon. It is expected to be around 70KM north of Surigao City or south east of Guian, Eastern Samar which I'm worried about because it is prone of landslides.

It's under signal number one in public storm signals together with Northern Samar, Western Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Biliran Island, Camotes Island, Surigao del Norte, Siargao Island and Dinagat Island which mostly have some of the best tourist spots in the country.

I hope everyone get's through this. I pray they would be fine.

When I was in college, there are times where I had to go to other houses and sleep over because I had a thesis or project I need to finish in a week. I hate doing that because first, I can't sleep because it's not my bed. Aside from that, you'll sometimes get disappointed when you wake up; because something just bit you. For the years that you have been taking care of your skin, it'll just get a big bump that'll get surely infected in a couple of hours. No cream, no medicine would be able to make that subside. I know someone who'll get ugly after that.

You often wonder how people get it. I don't even know but that just made my day when I slept over a friend’s house. Is it because they didn't clean the mattresses too often? Is it because they are not that keen on getting their house fogged? I know for a fact that this friend of mine was a cleaning freak. If I wasn't aware of it, I'm sure I could've thought that he had a disorder of some sort. No matter how clean he was with everything in his house, the fact is; I got bitten.

I actually told them about it too. This friend of mine just got out of bed; and learning about the ordeal I went, he immediately rushed to the room to look at it. Actually, he did not just look at it but he was lifting things and preparing to burn it to the stake. I was surprised about what he wanted to even do at that time; I had to stop him from his impulsive ways. I just can't let him do that to a 12,000 peso bed; throwing it away was not even part of my wildest dreams. It is just too expensive and his mom would probably be the second person to freak out in that same day. I'm not a psychology graduate so it would be difficult to handle really.

I together with the world am shocked! This kid was the one I saw in Oprah once I think. He had history of seizures because mainly of his medical condition, he's probably epileptic. I think I have a cousin that also had this and he's kinda affected by the times he hit his head on things. I am so blessed I did not go through this my self because I was really prone to have it with family history and all. 16-year-old Jett Travolta hit his head in a bathtub Friday Jan. 2, 2009. He was declared dead at Rand Memorial Hospital on Grand Bahama Island. My condolences to John Travolta and his family.

Where My Friends Can Get Help

I'm a friend. The one they usually run to when they need to talk. I'm a very sensible person. I talk straight and do not sugarcoat anything just to make a point.

I have lots of friends who need help and I try my best to give them my point of view and what particular solution I could offer if I were in their situation. This is kind of awkward do discuss with most of my female friends. I fell short helping them since I couldn't relate that much in some aspects of their life. I've got friends who are single moms now. This is where my dilemma started.

I don't think I'm the right person to ask in this field because first of all I'm a guy. I may have opinions of my own but it would be slightly general if I attempt to help them. I am no professional nor am I claiming to be the best person to talk to. I am not and wouldn't be in their situation of course but I know if these women get together and share their experiences, it would be better for them to learn from the mistakes they made living that way. It’s non conventional I know but there are thousands if not millions of other women in that situation that may have survived what they are experiencing now. This I guess is better than a guy telling them what to do with their lives.

Jinky Pacquiao Now Out of the Hospital

ANG SWEET NAMAN! HEHEH...

Jinky Pacquiao, the wife of People's Champ Manny Pacquiao just got out of the hospital after she gave birth to a healthy baby girl (the 4th child). She was allowed by her attending doctor from Los Angeles Metropolitan Medical Center to go out with newly born Queen Elizabeth because of their good condition. Jinky was obviously a proud Mom, Manny did not even blink looking over his wife and kids.
Manny Pacquiao did not waste time greeting everyone back in the Philippines and gives his wishes for the country in the new year! The champion indeed deserves to rest, but I heard this evening that he's slated to go head to head with a British boxer come May 2, 2009. We'll probably win that as well!

Firework Accidents Down 25% says DOH

Despite campaigns and warnings from the government, hard headed pinoys still go out and do their own thing. When would they ever learn!

The Department of Health in the Philippines issued reports this evening that incidents of firework accidents went down 25 percent this year. These are good figures and I think the rain and drizzles around the metro contributed to these figures by the National Epidemiology Center of the same department. Upto 346 firecracker related injuries were only reported. This is the lowest it has become in this decade.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque said that the rain showers contributed a lot aside from the rigorous campaign their office made before the celebrations. The global financial crisis was also to blame for the smart spending of people he added. They however are still in their Code White alert on government and private hospitals until January 5 this year because they expect victims to arrive even after the new year's eve. 241 got tolerable minor wounds, 18 had their limbs severed while 76 had their eyes stricken.

The dreaded piccolo was still at the head of the pack followed by rockets, five star, light sticks, whistle bombs and about 9 people were reportedly hit by stray bullets according to local police. How I wish Filipinos would stop buying them and resort to more spectacular fireworks in malls and other nice venues. That would be much better! I hope we get 0 victims in a couple of years.

The US Military operations continue in the Middle East specifically on Iraq and Afghanistan. We all know that nobody's a winner when it comes to war. People get hurt, more women and children are displaced. It’s quite understood that they would not have time to make a living, nor learn what they need to in school. It’s a pity that we need to send troops in that region. Men and Women sworn in to protect their motherland, now have responsibilities to keep peace in the world. This is a huge task, you can never complain because this is the US taking the lead in the global war against terrorism. We just need to do our part to help our troops so they'd safely return home.

Fireworks Victims arrives at Philippine Hospitals

Some guys just never learn!

The Philippines is still following the footsteps of Chinese nationals in spending for fireworks in celebrating New Year's Day. I was happy last night because there was a lot of places in Metro Manila that had rainshowers and drizzles. I thought there wouldn't be a lot of hard headed Filipinos that would do fireworks because of it, but I was wrong. It still was a little noisy in our streets. I even saw a glimpse of people who got hit by explosives watching the news. Its just sad that they won't learn if they don't get hurt.

Slowly they came one by one in the hospitals of Quezon City. In East Avenue Medical Center, there are about 17 people that fell victim since yesterday. Most of them were hit by the prohibited PICCOLO, faulty local "KWITIS" or rockets,Luces (lightsticks) and 5Star (a local triangle). All of them are very strong explosives but most have only sustained minor injury so some of them were already sent home but not an 8 year old kid that swallowed WATUSI (red scratch firecrackers).

In Quirino Labor Hospital, a young lad was also hit by a rocket in his neck. In Caloocan City, about 9 were sent to Tala Hospital since December 24 which also sustained piccolo caused wounds.What a bad day to spend your New Year at the Hospital!
