Thug Love

Tuesday, June 09, 2009

For those who live life in the fast lane, you ideally are not in the right mind to say that you are a thug. With the negative connotation that is given to this word, nobody would want to be called as such in modern times. For people who make a grove of hash and hustle hard for cash, being a thug nowadays means you have to live a lifestyle comparable to most hip hop stars and artists that shaped the music industry in the United States. The whole genre was given a different light, so now there is a whole new understanding of what a thug is in this world.

Men who live life seizing every opportunity coming their way not forgetting their roots or wherever they came from are stricken with titles like these. Tough to everyone's eye, rough to anyone who tries to stop them on their way to what they want in life; the thug has changed its colors and meaning throughout the years. They are also converging in social networking sites and engaging in thug chat. It's one of the coolest places you would see where they converge and promote camaraderie to anyone who loves and lives the life of a thug. If you are not part of it yet, you might end up somewhere else and regret not feeding your urge to be the thug you wanted to be in the first place. Make sure you check them out now!

KUMAGCOW MOOOOVIE REVIEWS: STAR TREK (The Movie 2009)

It was a fast paced fantasy based movie that originated from the original TV series. A connection between the past and the present, time travel and super warp drives, this movie has not failed to impress me. I thought it was going to be a boring one since I was not impressed with the reviews in the US and local papers. I was not a trekkie to begin with but man! I enjoyed each scene that came out of the silverscreen. Not to mention this day was a little special since I dated a long time friend from Canada. Yes, singlehood has its perks but it would not hurt to date every once in a while. Anyway, back to the movie hehe...

She was the one who chose this movie by the way because she probably was a trekkie and she did not admit it haha! She doesn't read my blog so that's okay to say hehe. So back to the story, it started on a space jump then people died in the USS Enterprise... the mighty captain sacrificed himself and rammed it into the alien's ship. This was in the eve of his wife giving birth to a healthy boy, this lad later on became the captain of the ship. Spock was in the story too, he time travelled and told of the past so he could change history. There were some drills that were started by these aliens so they could make blackholes and get these planets to implode. Soon almost the whole civilization of Spock perished, only a few survived. The alien had some sort of grudge against Spock and he wanted him to see his people die. The alien told of a story of his people dying too so that's what he did to Spock for revenge. In the end, they all were able to defeat the alien from within their ship. They also rescued the previous captain who was captured in the initial war. Spock and the new Captain became close friends, then everything was in order after they destroyed the ship and defeated the alien in hand to hand combat.

I strongly suggest you watch it if you still have time! Givin it 3 KUMAGS for effort, and becaus the date went fine! ^^ Hahah

Never Sacrifice Quality

Thursday, June 04, 2009

I was watching hour's worth of You Tube Videos this weekend because I was one of the millions of people who never got over the SUSAN BOYLE defeat in Britain's Got Talent Show. I never knew she could be beaten by a bunch of kids from London when in fact that was really not a fair comparison, like apples and oranges. If they saw their dance act and compare it to Philippine All Stars who recently won the world championships; that would really be a better way to do it. They would probably concede at the sight of that.

Now with the millions of people who were appalled by the decision, not to mention the hundreds who stayed vigil at her hotel that day... it talks about one particular criterion that judges should have been looking at. This is quality. One tough word to accomplish and one concern that each of us should think about as humans. In this world where consumers take a bigger role in the world market, we should never forget that quality should always be a priority. What you buy and take home for your family no matter how expensive it is reflects how you care. The big question here is; would you want anything less for your loved ones? Would you go the extra mile to get yourself the best thing your money could buy? Of course we do! This is our inalienable right as free people because at the end of the day, we all deserve what we worked for. The hard earned money in a time where markets fall abruptly and financial crisis creeps over economies should be worth every cent. No more, no less.

Watch how these people who made this VistaPrint Video go to the extremes in testing the quality of their products. I know you will like this one!

Now that’s quality!

Philippine Fashion Week 2009 (My Very First Photo Shoot)

Well here goes nothing, I'm just gonna give you a glimpse of what I did in at Philippine Fashion Week a week ago. I hope you like these shots I took from the sidelines. I never got a good place in the photographers area because it was packed!

Enjoy!

This was my first photo shoot using my new Nikon D60 camera. It was a good practice run for me so now I know I'll get better position the next time I have to go. But some of my friends see that they are not that bad. This was a collection by Renee Salud. I had a chance to take a look at some of the Philippine's most beautiful people, and talented ones (for those who were not that goodlooking hehe) and I enjoyed it a lot. Not to mention I was only a few steps away from celebrities, the people who know them and the designers themselves. Renee Salud has been geting raves since the late 70's and was given so many accolades for his fashion line, and discovering models. His eye for beauty is undeniable, and this collection that combines Asian, Neo Japanese and Filipiniana designs are a sight for sore eyes. I'll definitely try to score some tickets for next year when this happens again, it's one thing I will come back for. So how do you think I fared in photography? Heheh...

Here's some of the raw sights and unedited pictures from Fashion week:

First Day Funk!

Tuesday, June 02, 2009

It's June once again and everybody in this side of the world is preparing for their first day of school year 2009 - 2010. In anticipation of the huge traffic and markets picking up this season, I travel a lot earlier now so I would not be late for work. I am also trying to find the perfect bag for my NIKON D60 which I bought for my self this month. It may be expensive but that ended my frustrations in photography so it is well worth it.

Aside from that, I was sponsoring a child in a local charity. I did that so there would be something good to do this year. Good thing I have friends who share the same passion that I do so it was not that hard. We bought some school supplies, personalized kids backpacks and a couple of toys to go with it. At least they will have a better time studying while playing on the side right?! I wonder why I never get to do that when I was a kid... ha-ha!

At home, we are going to have a hard time this week because the person who we pay for weekly to wash clothes is out of town. She is not going back until next week, so I'm sure our laundry bag is going to be filled. I have been looking for alternatives but you know how expensive laundry services are in Manila. If you do not do it by bulk it would even be more expensive.

I've got a friend who also gave birth to a bouncing baby boy this evening. I'm so glad I get to be part of the whole process, not the making the baby part obviously but more on taking care of the Mom. You see, she's not that safe in doing these pregnancies and this one in particular is included. I hope she does not read this entry because she will know about the baby memory book I got her this time. The kid is so cute; no picture is going to be wasted!

I have so many plans in so little time; I hope everything turns our right. Let's do the first day funk!

June 2009

It's another month, another post for me. A little something up our sleeves this day because it will be a little hectic at work. Not to mention I have tons of reports to make also. Aside from that, I am looking for a couple of things to jazz up my new Nikon D60 so I asked quite a number of people what to buy and where to start. I don't have a tripod yet so it would probably be better if I start there first. Then purchase UV filters for my lens so it would not get scratched. Funny how this turned out because obviously, this is going to be a long hard road of using my hard earned cash for components of my new hobby. I'm not complaining don't get me wrong but you know how it is these days when everybody else was contemplating about the recession and all, spending like this is really not that advisable. What can you do if you can't stop yourself from spending!! Awe! The list goes on and on.

I have not reviewed the last movie I watched, Star Trek. I'm not a trekkie you know, but the person I was with probably enjoyed it as much as I do. I'll tell you about it a little later on when I get the time. Yes, it's already June and I'm still complaining about time. Sheesh! What's new! I have no time to travel yet, or get acquainted with my photography skills. No time for rest and ample amount of sleep. No time to get better because I still go to work even when I'm sick. No time to make reports since I am also guarding our project at these times and the only time I get to make them is if someone is already around. It's a good thing it is not a Sunday or else I'd be making these reports while alone in this dark corner. I wonder why the air conditioning is already in full blast but not even reaching me here... it's kinda hot. Well I'm hot I know that, but man! it's really hard to get some service around here! The only good thing I guess that happened is the 24/7 MRT huh?!

Heheh... I'm going to tell you guys about my first photo shoot when I get the chance but I'm planning to have that posted on another blog I guess. Yeah! I'm planning to have another one again!

Better Applications and Social Networking

With all the networking sites available in the World Wide Web, you stand and wonder how people understand how it works and how easy it is. Most of the time you get lost in translation because everything sounds so complicated even if you are already a novice when it comes to computers. The technical jargon would probably be the first to metaphorically cause a nose bleed but you find the need to get along since everybody else is doing it.

I know this one site for example, with even the hundreds of applications it has on its face people seem to still get a hang of it. The site according to a reliable source has a greater percentage of their users in the 50 year old above range. This makes folks in homes and centers easily adapt and connect with loved ones. Imagine what I have been doing playing Poker with my generation's Grandparents which look really ironic. I wonder how their kids would think about me if they knew I was taking away their chips ha-ha!

If there was something good about it, it was the inter action between me, my friends and a lot of other users. I guess that makes social networking a great tool for anybody. There are also other ones that use online communities to get people of the same interest together. No matter how weird it is or how lame it would sound to people at my age, it is quite huge to even look at them happy with their peers. That is one thing that money could never buy and they could treasure most. It makes them more confident to Engage Members to feel the spirit of belonging in one place. Would you like to try Wild Apricots? I find the site better and personally easy to manage. If you plan to get one, then this is the place to go.

Bon Voyage Arpee!

Monday, June 01, 2009

Arpee is a colleague of mine and we are literally a few seats apart in the same project, same department. He's going to the US this June to visit his family and spend quality time with his siblings since he's based here in the Philippines. It would be a little rough since we are all going to spend more time in the office and fill the gap in his absence, not to mention our boss is going to be in town in a few weeks too but I think everything would be alright as long as nobody would get sick. We are going to be a little bit crippled if that happened but its okay, we hope he enjoys his stay there... pasalubong ha! Heheh...

Well now he knows my shoe size and the new camera I got, he probably knows what brand I prefer and what lens would fit on it heheh. Just jokin pero syempre pag sineryoso nya pwede na rin hahaha!

He's a great artist, percussionist, drummer, photographer, traveller but he's small so God really has some way to compensate things hahahah. He's talented but more of a late bloomer when it comes to love (tama ba bheng?! ^^ ). He's got a huge guitar collection and its not those simple ones you often see at stores because some of them even come from the US or other parts of the world. I think he's just lucky to have em... but in all these things he's a cool person. We all wish him a safe trip and look forward to have him back in the team in a couple of weeks time. I hope he spends his vacation well in the US, because some of us never had the luxury to do that. Hehehe most probably I was referring to myself hahah!

Good luck Arpee and Bon Voyage! Yan ha na blog pa kita hehe!

You Are All I Need!

Friday, May 29, 2009

We also have a house in TAGAYTAY City that we have to furnish. With the current financial crisis hitting us and everybody else in the world, I would not be surprised if we would have a hard time doing it. My brother is filthy rich and he would probably get the property filled up by the end of the year. Modesty aside my folks and I should probably also step up and get the major pieces we need for the vacation house we dreamed of. I am mostly an Oak - woodsy type of person and that is one thing I am looking for in design. I got catalogues from the best ones in the industry and some of them are not as par. Here I go relying again on the Internet to get what I want, so I clicked a couple of sites and found one exactly for the DINING ROOM FURNITURE I need.

I will probably get the one that is in the price range of about $1500 to $2000. Maybe if we are to get shipment costs lower, this would really be feasible. Then after that, my brother could probably pick up some other architectural pieces that would compliment what we have planned for the home. It is colder there, but it would be nice to get acquainted with that kind of weather when summer comes. That is just a great idea!

First Photo Shoot : Philippine Fashion Week, Band Portfolio

It's one heck of a hectic week for me because I think I have gone too far in scheduling activities. As my first photography lessons arrive, I will be participating in the Philippine Fashion Week this weekend and I hope it would not be as bad as I thought it would be. I have practiced quite a little at home and in the office to get more shots perfected as I embark in this new hobby. I hope I fare quite well in this album I'm planning to get. On Friday, this is going to be the lineup of activities:

Then after that, a friend invited me to go to a photo shoot for an upcoming band. I will be getting a lot of experience from this obviously and it really is a good way to start this new hobby of mine. I already got the jargons loaded on my brain, now its just the application that I have to worry about. I'll be maximizing whatever I've got on a stock camera. I got the notion that I am doing farely in Macro shots but I am yet to practice glamour and portrait shots. With everything lined up for me, I hope I survive this weekend. I also got a date this Saturday so I'm looking forward to that! =)
