TaskUs Holds Job Fair in Bohol

Monday, June 20, 2022

After letting us experience this about two years ago, the good people at TaskUs continued to spread their Ridiculously Good Culture, this time to the heart of Philippine islands called Bohol. It's capital Tagbilaran was the venue for the Grand Career Fair held at Metro Centre Hotel.

This is what TaskUs meant as "going where the talent is" as their company continues to grow despite global challenges caused by the pandemic. This was attended and supported by different Bohol educational institutiions, local government and non profit organizations, plus other training institutes aimed to employ talented Bol-anons this side of the world. Ms. Regina Aguila says "We have a different work culture at TaskUs and provide very competitive health coverage, wellness programs (free), career advancement opportunities. We call them teammates, and have always known how it positively impacts their work. This goes the same with the service they render for customers and the community."

TaskUs started in the developing city in 2019 and has made Lizzy's Playground an iconic workplace to be in this region. This is part of their "Work Hard, Have Fun" mantra that makes working in the company even more exciting. If you missed their job fair, fret not as you can show your intentions to join them via their website TaskUs.com/careers or their recruitment hubs.

PH Contact Center Industry Lauded by Government

Thursday, September 30, 2021

A tough and brazen partner in economic recovery, the local contact center industry was praised by the Philippine government for its efforts in making sure business is moving and for being resilient during the pandemic.

The Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry says "We have seen your work despite the huge challenges of COVID-19, the third quarter of this year shows IT-BPM's recovery. It had posted moderate growth and is steadily rising in the last few months." This was mentioned during the Contact Islands '21 session on "Government and Private Partnership: Road to Recovery".

IATF Karlo Nograles also attests on how the IT-BPM industry has continued to lead in employment generation even on the countryside. He also mentions how Filipino IT-BPM workers have remained competitive and remain to be a crucial part of how we could transition to the new normal. CCAP Chair Benedict Hernandez reiterated how it is crucial for IT-BPM firms to have backing from the government as the industry was classified to be essential during these times and keep support intact for clients and keep their employees employed too. CCAP President Jojo Uligan on the other hand thanks the government for listening to the sector so they could remain in operation and complete procedures on protocols in work from home arrangements, so it would stay safe during these times. Lopez also said that the contact center and IT BPM industry continue to implement programs and reforms to continue the drive towards economic recovery. He's also keen this would create more opportunities and satisfy patrons even if needs are changing locally and internationally.

30,000+ TaskUs Employees Benefit from IPO

Monday, August 30, 2021

After baring its plans to go public a few months ago and filing a very successful IPO this June 11th, Santa Monica based company TaskUS is paying cash or equity to their almost 30,000 employees this month. Company leaders were awarded equities while employees are awarded a one time cash bonus as accorded by their tenure in the corporation.

TaskUs CEO Bryce Maddock says "TaskUs exists because of our teammates and support organizations from HR, IT, and Finance. Without their help, there wouldn't be an IPO for the organization. We want to ensure TaskUS employees got their chance to participate with a bonus and continue our investments to support their career growth. We continue to invest in our people with industry leading benefits and career advancement opportunities. This is part of our teammate focused values so everyone gets a great employee experience when they work at TaskUS."

Aside from that, TaskUs also announced a global Tuition Reimbursement and Professional Development Program aimed to support to employees aimed at continuing and further education. TaskUs has been awarded Best Global Culture by Comparably this year and “Best Places to Work” by Business Intelligence. It's just some of their phenomenal achievements for its people-centered culture.

And from the looks of it, they're doing really good!

NADINE Together With Us Virtual Concert Slated June 28th

Friday, June 25, 2021

If you haven't been under a rock, you know June is PRIDE month. It is done to commemorate the Stonewall uprising, and now around the world as a protest to gather together, to push for equality of LGBTQIA+ members, and run against years of discrimination.

Fashion icon and pop star Nadine Lustre is a strong ally, and together with TaskUS, they're holding an online concert called "NADINE, Together With Us" on the TaskUs PH Facebook page. This will happen on June 28th, which is on Monday at 6:30PM.

This virtual concert is being staged for the benefit of displaced drag artists and elderly gays from Home for the Golden Gays Foundation, a non profit organization helping elderly gays have a place to stay. Nadine will also be performing with Philippine based drag queens Vinas DeLuxe, Lady Gagita and Andy Crocker. As you may already know, entertainment workers have been heavily affected since venues have been closed down because of the pandemic. Performers these days basically have nowhere to go. Aside from that, it's been hard for non profit organizations to gain funding since everyone is confined at homes. Nadine knows their plight and she says "I have always admired the level of artistry of Philippine drag queens. I know they spend hours just to put on a look and practice for one act. It's an art form. I'm sad that I don't get to see them perform these days because of the pandemic. We need to help them. I am an ally of the LGBTQIA+ community, and to be part of this cause, to amplify their voices, I hope they could feel that they are loved and valued."

For those who don't know, TaskUS is a leading tech enabled business service company that does Digital CX, AI Operations, Content Security and Consulting. The company has always been a stalwart of LGBTQIA+ rights, keeping their workforce inclusive. They also provide access to health care and insurance services even for people living with HIV, encourage a community that formally addresses individuals who prefer other pronouns. They also hold events, leadership trainings so they craft policies related to diversity and inclusion, and I think that's a good thing.

Currently, TaskUS has 9 sites which includes Quezon City, Taguig, Pampanga, Cavite, Bulacan, Rizal, La Union, Bohol and Batangas. They will be opening a new facility in Batangas City around last quarter of this year so if you want to be a part of their growing force, you may visit their site at https://jobs.jobvite.com/taskus-inc/. You may also follow their social channels, just search for TaskUs or TaskUsPH on FB, IG, LinkedIn or Twitter. Updates about the concert will also be done here!

I'll be watching. See you there!

Meet JAMES REID via TaskUs Virtual Concert

Thursday, February 25, 2021

The good looking guy is just about to make someones dream come true specifically people from Bohol as he's doing a virtual concert entitled "TaskUs Dibs: James Reid" in TaskUS Tagbilaran City, their newest site.  This will be streamed online via TaskUs’s social media accounts at 6PM.

Of course you can expect that he'll be singing his hit songs "I Know You Care", "16B" and "Fiend" which has been doing quite well in radio, YouTube and just about every streaming platform there is worldwide and much of that is well loved by his fans. Thing is, this is going to be a little special. Why you ask? It's because TEN lucky TaskUs teammates and applicants will be given the chance to meet and greet the main man himself JAMES REID virtually right after the concert. That's going to be tough competition because I'm sure, a lot of people will apply, but of course, it'll be worth it because it is HIM right?

TaskUs is a tech enabled company that delivers digital customer service, AI operations and content security to different multinational companies. They have partnered with James Reid for this virtual concert as a way to also celebrate their official ninth site in the Philippines. They also have other offices elsewhere around the world. Bohol is of course, full of talented individuals that can answer needs for technology, innovation and other services. Their workforce currently use Cirrus as its platform and is completely working from home, which is quite good even in the pandemic. Their new site has well designed and bright sections complete with gaming equipment and stations. They also have employee benefits which includes life coaches, psychological and psychiatric services. If you're up to it and want a piece of their culture, visit https://www.taskus.com for more information. You can also visit their Facebook and IG at TaskUSPh or their LinkedIN and Twitter account @TaskUS.

Celebrate Music with Tunog Transcom

Friday, September 20, 2019

I worked in the BPO industry for a little under 11 years and it has been one of the most high pressured industries I have ever been in. It's not a joke, I've seen people who have had mentally unstable conditions after days of undergoing what's supposed to be usual work, it changed my mind about operations in call centers and project management.

How do you keep your workforce healthy? Easy, by bringing them entertainment that not only they'd enjoy, but also enriches their soul and spirit. Music has that power to change moods, it gives you encouragement to engage in the arts and feel good with the company of like minded friends and co-workers. That's what I witnessed a few days ago in Tunog Transcom.

Over 2000 employees of Transcom Worldwide Philippines went to the Ortigas tent to witness their colleagues perform together with top bands in the country like artist Ebe Cancel, OPM band Mayonnaise, Chiquerella, Sponge Cola, Where's Ramona, This Band, Ben & Ben and everyone's favorite iconic band when it's raining, Aegis!

Mark Lyndsell their CEO says "We have been transforming our business and continuously creating a positive culture so they can express themselves in this annual music fest. Tunog Transcom Tayo will continue together with out other CSR activities including HIV and AIDS Awareness campaigns we do together with The Red Whistle. They put their heart into this which is why we have held this Viral Voice Competition so they could showcase their talent with these talented bands too."

They will be having another installment of Tunog Transcom at the Iloilo Convention Center on September 21 and Bacolod City on the 22nd. They are working together with Seda Hotel, Caronia, Jergens and Liese in this project so for those who work with Transcom, you guys are so lucky!

BPO Queen Finals Tonight

Tuesday, May 29, 2018

Had the chance to cover the BPO QUEEN preliminaries a couple of days ago. Today will be the finals which will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena 6PM and guest performers have names like Jake Zyrus, Joross Gamboa, Edgar Allan Guzman, Mark Bautista (who will also be the host) and international sensation Jessica Sanchez. I've also heard Morisette will be there but that has yet to be confirmed (maybe it's a surprise).

The pre pageant basically will showcase these Queens in their Future wear, Evening Gowns and Swimsuits but I'll be only featuring the previous two because we have kids also reading my articles LOL. Anyway, it's going to be a big spectacle later and I hope my bets also are going to be able to win some awards, or perhaps the crown. The BPO Queen by the way is the nationwide beauty search for gays and transexuals in the BPO industry, so if you are working in one, chances are, you have a representative in this particular pageant. Tickets are still available at SM TICKETS if you don't have one yet.

Mr. And Ms. BPO Holds Final Screening Today

Saturday, October 14, 2017

Today marks the last day of Mr. and Ms. BPO screening and we can't wait to see who will actually get in on this particular pageant. Aimed to showcase the best of the best in the industry, men and women will be joining this soon to be annual event to represent their companies, finding people who will take charge, lead and inspire a lot of people. I have worked in the BPO industry for 11 years. During that time, I've seen how it has grown into just plain outsourcing arm into a full blown intellectual and practical talent source that has provided high paying jobs for a LOT of people in the country. It's high time people look at it differently as it's not all eyebags and zombies, but really talented people, professionals who work hard every day just like you and me.

This afternoon, we got to meet the people behind Mr. and Mrs. BPO including Apprentice Asia winner Jonathan Yabut and he says "Those contestants will get to enjoy and be mentored by the four judges. It's by voluntary basis but they can ask their respective companies HR and perhaps do their own pageants on their own then represent themselves. Looks is definitely there but we will be choosing someone who can inspire, communicate their points across, and we get to do workshops after they learn the lessons. I do workshops for companies and executives, a lot of millenials. The pageant partnered with the Call Center Association of the Philippines and they will have a say on what charity the proceeds will go to. The hope is to do this yearly and perhaps internationally because this is a huge industry."

We got the chance to talk to the judges and asked them about people they are looking for to win this pageant.

For those who want to join, you have until 5PM today to do so as they are holding the final one at the I'M Hotel in Makati. For more information about it you may visit their website www.mrandmsbpo.com or their Facebook page. Finals will be on November 21, 2017 at the MOA Arena.

Sykes Grand Year End Party

Saturday, January 02, 2016

My sister works for Sykes and I don't, let's get that out there. I don't know much about the company but I've heard good things about them. Especially the guys from my old company who transferred there for greener pasture and professional growth. They've been working hard, and every year Sykes makes it a point that Sykesers (as they call em) get a little bit of reward. A little in the tune of Php 2 Million worth of prizes.

This happened last December and they dubbed it “SYKES FUTURE FORWARD: The SYKES 2015 Year-End Celebration”. Since they were on the futuristic side of things, they got all 5,000 Manila based employees to play dress up at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. They also raffled off prizes like a 32 inch Samsung LED TV, Ipad Mini 3, Mac Book Air, FujiFilm Instax Mini 8, an iPhone 6, Go Pro, and the latest Samsung smartphones. Since that is small (oh yes I kid), they took the liberty of having their main man VP and Country Manager Dean Van Ormer to give away the grand prize of Php 150,000 plus 2 more Php100,000 winners just because they liked it. That's one of the things they did to make them happy since they've worked so hard this 2015.

They also had fun with employees strutting out their stuff, holding a competition to see who the best company based dance group is. The winner declared was "True Sight of the Kaleidoscope". They also didn't forget to award Rich Dingding (Male Category) and Gemma de Lima (Female Category) for the garb they wore as they declared the most "Fashion Forward".

The work life balance they want each Sykes employee to have looks but a reality. They also rewarded “SYKESClista”, an employee based organization as “SYKES Choices Club” awardee for 2015. They have a lot and not many BPO offices have that. I'm sure some of you can tell, and it is essential to make the employees happy. If that ain't enough, they threw in Parokya Ni Edgar and had the greatest concert of their lives in the venue. That's just fun! Now I want to be with Sykes. Can they take me in? LOL!

Congratulations Sykes and your 13,000 employees, you did good!

DELL: In A Different Light

Sunday, May 20, 2012

President for Philippine Operations Richard Teo discusses to online media what DELL is.

I arrived late because of the horrendous traffic in Eastwood City but that didn't dampen the spirits of online media that visited the DELL office in Quezon City. Honestly, I know so little about DELL other than it being one of the largest suppliers of computers here, in Europe and the Americas. Their President Richard Teo explained quite an amount of businesses that DELL is in today; maybe to get to know them a bit... I felt schooled afterwards.

One of the questions that popped into my mind was... Why in the world is the PRESIDENT of this corporation presenting to us? I mean, this could have been done by one of his managers or something right?

They laughed. Well my question made sense right? But they answered quite gamely and told me that it's always like this in DELL, even though he is President they try as much as possible to know each and everyone in the corporation on a personal level. He sits and eats the same way as the 1,600++ employees of DELL in the Philippines. This has been their approach since they set office in the Philippines. This to me is quite a remarkable thing to see as a practice in a multinational corporation. I haven't seen any corporation do this, its like breaking the whole structure.

DELL Philippines President Richard Teo and HR Director Donna Grande

President Richard Teo and Donna Grande HR Director of DELL Philippines simply said that this is one of the differences about the culture of DELL and other companies. Even though Richard Teo is the President, they are partners and work hand in hand in order to make every task get that same treatment whoever of whatever position they hold as employees of DELL. Richard even went on telling that he lives, eats and breathes the same thing as any employee. They also hold brown paper meets to ensure they get their point across when they say that they give importance to getting THE human potential. That's when I get their point. I'm sure just with this practice alone, they are the envy of most corporations I know.

DELL isn't just involved in manufacturing computer products. As a matter of fact they gained financial strength in the healthcare business too via the acquisition of Perot systems. I think this is what they call the Dell Healthcare and Life Sciences Solutions. Perot Systems is one of the largest providers of health inclined information technology services and business solutions that can also cater to a broad range of clients. This was one of the key areas they are into plus add to that the business process outsourcing leg of their corporation that's gotten quite BIG in the past few years. I wouldn't tell you the figures but you probably know how much the Philippines earned in this industry that's got it #1 status worldwide. With Customer service, POS, Customer Care, health care and corporate services as part of their portfolio, this would have no way to go but UP.

DISCOVERING HUMAN POTENTIAL STORIES

We got the chance to talk to some of the employees of DELL inside the Eastwood office. This husband and wife team originally came from India. The guy on the right had been in DELL for a couple of years and the wife just visited every now and then to take care of their kids, but seeing and experiencing the ambiance and work culture in the Philippines they both decided it was worth to be with the corporation.

She was originally from DELL India but seeing the opportunities inside the young Philippine office she fell in love with the place and its people. DELL knows how service oriented the culture of the Filipinos are. Even their employees find how warm and inviting this country is. They also use this advantage to most of their customer service oriented accounts. Case on point they know they've got some of the best in the industry.

Guy above has been with DELL for almost 9 years. He was a technical support person for a couple of years but DELL pretty much provided him with an environment convenient to growth. Even if you want to laterally transfer to an account which you feel you can do a better job in they will provide you with training and the arsenal to go where your heart wishes to be in. It's not only good to do business in DELL, its good to work there too.

No matter how young or physically challenged you are these guys attest that if you do a good job its not really an issue. They have been with DELL for years now and the things that they have done in the workplace are very says a lot with the excellence the company calls for. Professionals from DELL are world class and they even promote their employees to invite their friends to work in the same place. It promotes teamwork if you know who you work with and they have been successful in their own hiring processes.

DELL continues to grow as a corporation and as an entity who value people, work and excellence in products and services. I just witnessed this feat in this visit. The business is conducive with their employees, its the same with the business and the services they offer. The next time you look for a wholistic corporation that can work with you and still make it one of the greenest, efficient solution for operations; you might want to give DELL a call and get your business running the right way. Working technology and making it unleash the full human potential, this is what Michael Saul Dell believes in too. Thanks for letting us visit DELL!

IBM Builds Smarter Cities; Gets Recognized!

Wednesday, June 15, 2011

IBM, the world's leader in "Smart Solutions" has announced the release of their Intelligent Operations Center for Smarter Cities. This is actually a new solution created to see metrics in a holistic point of view; converging information from different municipal/city departments and other government agencies. Monitoring, Analyzing is a crucial and integral part of any system so that manpower, supplies, funding and managing resources would be easy. You would have more time getting the right services for the ones who need it most. You can also get to preempt disasters and respond swiftly. Proper planning and logistics should pose as a solution for difficult situations. If ever unplanned events may come; proper procedures and expected results can still be achieved.

Creating these unified centers would eliminate red tape and implement best practices that have been proved to work for other countries as well. IBM has invested a LOT in research and development and this has been one of the key factors why they have steadily grown in the past few years. IBM is currently celebrating their centennial year! (Founded June 16, 1911)

What are the advantages of going this route?!

It would be easy to shorten disruptions and manage its impact to the public. Community services like public order, safety, transportation, water resources, structures, social services and communication with other agencies would be faster; everything would be properly coordinated when disaster strikes. There also can be rapid response units that can be dispatched for life threatening incidents if the need arises. This is a remarkable improvement to processes that made red tape and corruption common in the current government of the Philippines; and I wouldn't be surprised if people would go for that.

IBM Gets Recognized

In the recent KAPATID Awards (Kapatiran sa Industriya), IBM the grand bulwark in building a Smarter Planet received recognition for Strategic Visioning & Partnering for Business and Job Survival at the recent NCE (National Conference for Employers) held at the Marriot Hotel in Pasay City. Their continuing efforts in dealing with matters concerning the recession, hardships in the economy, policy creation, human resource planning, market analysis and research on business competitions has helped a lot of corporations go through the toughest times. Integration through their portfolio of software, hardware, application management, business process outsourcing services and analytics has given them the edge as they celebrate 75 years of doing business in the country; and a century for the world!

“IBM’s Centennial is ultimately about making the world work better. As a company, IBM has continued to reinvent itself as a modern corporation the past 100 years through best practices anchored on its beliefs and values. Our strategic visioning is best epitomized when we shifted to a globally-integrated enterprise business model, where work flows where it can best be done- based on the right talent, cost, and business environment. We continue to collaborate and form strategic partnerships with local clients and industry leaders to help realize our shared aspirations of having a better and smarter Philippines in the near future,” said James Velasquez, Country General Manager of IBM Philippines.

Congratulations IBM! This is a well deserved feat!

Kapish?!
