SPARKLE Artist Center Stars at the PBB Celebrity Collab Edition x GMA Grand Mediacon

Tuesday, July 22, 2025

Having met the ABSCBN artists a couple days ago, I felt it was high time to see the GMA Sparkle Artist Center side of the collab. Yes, it's an opportunity I wouldn't want to pass because you know, PBB has changed the lives of Mika Salamanca, the gorgeous Ashley Ortega, good looking Will Ashley, Dustin Yu, Josh Ford, Michael Sager, Charlie Fleming, AZ Martinez, Vince Maristela and the playful Shuvee Etrata.

Just to give you a picture, there were a lot of trad media and entertainment bloggers covering for this event. Most of them were editors and columnists from your dailies. I guess I was a little hesitant to send questions because it took almost an hour and a half to talk to them because of the sheer number of housemates we had to interview.

Here's our coverage on video, please enjoy!

Ashley Ortega currently holds the most number of views on my YouTube channel, and I've had the opportunity to interview her a couple of times. She's very eloquent, gorgeous and very talented on ice. She also was able to show a side of her that's not seen on camera. It's why after her short stay in the house, people were all supporting her A LOT. She also got major endorsements because of it and life has been good.

Charlie Fleming has been able to enjoy the success of the show and was able to still have some parts of her life private. Will Ashley has signified his willingness to work with Dustin Yu, which is actually not the first time because they previously were together in a Regal Entertainment movie. He feels the show was also a venue to introduce themselves, and show things that have not been seen on TV. Dustin laments that he's been waiting for the right time as far as his career is concerned. He didn't really expect to join PBB Celebrity Collab Edition, but he was so glad he did! He may be an introvert, but now that people got to know him, he's going to have more opportunities after the show.

Josh Ford is so thankful that his trip back to the Philippines was not in vain. It's been years that he has been in the industry but feels this is his biggest break. He also said that even though some people know him, it was only after PBB that he felt seen. He's so thankful to GMA, Sparkle and PBB for the opportunity! I can't wait to see him grab major roles in shows because he's done his homework.

Vince Maristela on the other hand got recognized while he was in Korea for a little R&R, even if he's been in the industry for a while, it's only now that he gets stopped a LOT while out in public. He now is eager to grab opportunities that would come his way. Everyone was so happy for him!

Shuvee was so fun during this interview. I could see how she is also being fancied by GMA execs while telling her story. As you can see, several shows have already got a hold of her, and joking on social media about her availability. She loves the support and promises to love all the brands and people that supports her. She's not just Shuvee the host now, she's everything and more! Still humble!

Big winner Mika Salamanca knew how much flak she once had because some have already pre-judged her because of previous controversies. She knew that people just didn't know. For Mika it's a big thing to have a platform to let people get to know who she is, change their perspectives and she thanked Sparkle for believing in her. Winning it meant that she can further prove naysayers of how she deserves the spot. She's pretty game about it.

I'd like to send a huge THANK YOU to SPARKLE GMA Artist Center for letting us get to know these housemates after the show. I'm quite sure they're planning a whole lot for them because by any angle, there's nowhere to go but to stardom! Oh and yes, that COLLAB CONCERT is coming up, make sure you get tickets before they run out!

PS, sub on my YouTube channel called "kumagcow" because I've uploaded some shorts there about this event. You'll love that!

VALERIE TAN Brings You to HONG KONG Adventures on I❤️PH's 10th Season

Wednesday, June 04, 2025

We're a little envious with Valerie Tan as she takes another season of I ❤️ PH to the beautiful sights of Hong Kong. Together with the Hong Kong Tourism Board, she's going to take you to the territories best spots, food destinations and the reasons why folks love Hong Kong. Season 10 will start this week, particularly this Sunday June 8th on GTV at 10:30am.

It will also be streamed on Kapuso social channels and GMA Pinoy TV. Valerie says "PMPC gave us an award for travel and lifestyle. This is our 10th season and we are leveling up, it's time to rediscover Hong Kong. When I toured around the places you've might have never seen. We're excited to show you this 3 part series that shows the unique Filipino perspective. From the Giant Pandas, to the street markets, to a far island, you'll see it here!"

Valerie also mentioned another event called IRunPH which will be at the UP Oval in 3, 5 and 10K segments which they organized for their chosen charities. They will also be giving away Sharp appliances and gift bags for lucky runners. This will be on July 13 so make sure to register on this website https://tv8mediaproductions.myruntime.com/register/irunph2025.

Liew Chian Janof the HKTB says "We have many friends in the Philippines and Valerie had many experiences in HK which coincides with HK Summer Viva, a campaign we are doing currently to promote various events happening this season. From parties in the theme park, the twin pandas anniversary, HK Disneyland's 20th anniversary, bringing parties like no other. There will also be sports events, food and drinks, merch that you can only buy during this time through their mobile app. HK Ocean Park will have 6 pandas in July and August. Horse racing is also a hit with locals, every Wednesday we have parties, games and prices included in the event. Please make sure you visit Hong Kong during these dates."

She adds "We are also doing Wine and Dine festival across cities in October and the whole month of November amidst Victoria Harbor. This is just the tip of the iceberg. I hope to see you in Hong Kong soon!"

Here's the press conference on video this morning:

Valerie actually felt this show was really challenging because they had to compete not just TV content but those that are on the internet. TV8 Productions has become much like family now and they are pushing for more years, to partner with more folks for the benefit of the Filipino viewers. She's so happy going to even more places, it opened up a lot of opportunities for her even if there are challenges. People are looking for more immersive experiences when visiting a country, and they hope doing these activities that are not so popular yet would open their minds in the east region of Hong Kong. You've got to look forward to the first episode because a lot of them will be there.

Make sure you watch I❤️PH on GTV this coming Sunday at 10:30AM. It will be shown on GMA Pinoy TV and other social channels a day after premiere broadcast.

Potential Runaway Winner "GREEN BONES" is GMA's Entry for MMFF 2024

Saturday, December 21, 2024

"Green Bones" stars during the premiere night (photos by Kapuso PR Girl on FB)

While I was not able to watch the screening or participate in Green Bones press conference a couple days ago, I'm quite sure they're bringing their guns out for GMA's entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival 2024. Why? The cast includes Dennis Trillo and Ruru Madrid, not to mention an ensemble cast of award winning actors like Alessandra de Rossi, Michael de Mesa, Iza Calzado, Nonie Buencamino plus the same people who worked on hit film "Firefly" that won Best Picture and Best Screenplay last year. Top caliber actors like them would just have this for a snack because no doubt, Dennis Trillo will surely perform above and beyond expectations. He plays the role of Domingo Zamora, a man who got jailed because of the murder of his own sister. Ruru on the other hand will be depicting Xavier Gonzaga who's a committed prison guard who ultimately wants Zamora to remain locked up, no matter what it takes.

While the story would have begged for action sequences, it delves more into drama surrounding the myth behind green bones, where their remains become the measure of their goodness/virtue. Ruru's character won't be believing Zamora's change, because he's got history with matters of senseless crimes, as his own sister was a victim of it.

This will be quite interesting to see because from the looks of those who have watched it in advanced screenings, people were trying their best not to cry, but failed miserably. This is the handy work of the same "Firefly" director Zig Dulay who's undoubtedly done remarkable pieces on TV with the likes of "Maria Clara at Ibarra" and "Sahaya" amongst his stellar work that won awards in different festivals here and abroad. Not to mention the work poured in by GMA Public Affairs' JC Rubio, legendary writer and National Artist Ricky Lee and last year's Best Screenplay victor Anj Atienza. They are also with some of my favorite actors Mikoy Morales, Royce Cabrera, Kylie Padilla, Victor Neri, Ruby Ruiz, Sofia Pablo, Sienna Stevens and Enzo Osorio plus more on their ensemble cast. I wouldn't be surprised why this was already tapped by Columbia Pictures which is the flagship distribution unit of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group. They'll be handling international release for it which just tells how qualified this Filipino film is in winning even more categories this year!

This is in celebration of the 50th year Anniversary of the MMFF, congratulations GMA and to all the artists! You've got something special coming out this Christmas and the whole family can watch it as it is rated G!

Come Celebrate 25 Years With Your Favorite Morning Show UNANG HIRIT

Thursday, November 28, 2024

Have you ever thought of how long you've been watching the morning show UNANG HIRIT? They're celebrating their 25th anniversary this December, and if you think about it, that's a full grown man at the prime of his life. Much to say, they gave us a glimpse of what's about to happen in the next few days as they celebrate this milestone. After all, they've been there when you wake up in the morning when you're preparing breakfast, your kids baon, or when your husband is about to go to work. They're routinely serving various forms of entertainment so you don't feel bad before you go to school, or for work.

Host Arnold Clavio says "Being in Unang Hirit for the last 25 years has been very rewarding. While we give the day's freshest news and happenings, we get to set the mood so you feel great at the start of the day. We bring not just good information, we'll be your alarm clock and make you be ahead of all the updates even hopefully, in the next 25 years!"

I asked Ms. Susan Enriquez about what particular piece moved her out of all the reportage she does for the show and identified the Typhoon Yolanda. She was there the day after when it hit the province and saw lives lost and devastation. She couldn't move as a person but she had to do her job to make sure information about it reaches entities in the government so they could give help. Another one was the chance to cover the Vatican, she was up close Pope Francis, she wept while seeing him during mass and admitted how blessed she felt that moment. She wants to do more and hopefully only do bigger stories in the next few years because she wants to be a source of positivity in the morning just like the rest of the hosts in the show.

Mark December 6 on your calendars as this will be the National Unang Hirit Day, the day when the show first aired. If you're a fan of the show, this is the time to celebrate in huge giveaways, public service offerings they plan to do on that date. They have surprises prepared for everyone, no matter where you are in the country. A few days ago, they already gave 25 peso rice grains, and 25 per kilo of LPG, so imagine what they'll be doing when the actual day arrives.

Here's our coverage on video, please sub!

Not only that, but if you recall the song they have on the show, they're going to have a few changes to it as well courtesy of the voices of Jose Mari Chan, Zephanie and Mark Bautista. It's going to be a bit modern than usual so stay tuned for that!

I also got the chance to participate in one of the games they usually do in the show and got tons of rice, a rice cooker and microwave oven, for that, I am so thankful! I thought I was just there to participate but got surprised by the hosts. Really thankful for that! It just reminded me, my birthday is their anniversary, congratulations on the show! And I'm looking forward to see what other surprises you have up your sleeves! Remember, UNANG HIRIT shows every weekday at, 5:30am. Thank you to Arnold Clavio, Susan Enriquez, Suzi Entrata Abrera, Atty. Gabby Concepcion, Shaira Diaz, Anjo Pertierra, Kaloy Tingcungco and Chef Jr for being so kind that afternoon. They're ready for you in the coming days, so make sure you watch the show! Make sure to be there and be heard as they celebrate 25 years with you!

VALERIE TAN, ROVILSON FERNANDEZ and Architects Start Different Season 9 of "I HEART PH" on GTV

Wednesday, September 18, 2024

Everyone was in such a festive mood as we joined Valerie Tan and the whole team behind her lifestyle and travel show called "I HEART PH". It's a magazine show aimed to promote all the best spots in the country, as we love and appreciate the things we see in the islands, and support the DOT's call to "Love the Philippines".

Ms. Vanessa Verzosa, the head of TV8 Media Business says "We still have so many places to discover and showcase on our show. It needs to be seen, our natural resources and environment. Through GMA, we would be able to reach an even wider audience."

Valerie told us "I am so excited and thankful for the opportunities especially this one. I get to do what I love, this is my dream job. I'll take you to more places in the country, interview people and share what we see to all our viewers. This is our 9th season, produced by TV8 who was recently nominated in ContentAsia Awards 2024 in Taiwan. We also have partnered with Habitat for Humanity, which we will discuss in a bit because we'll also look for ways to build homes."

She added "Every week we will have co-host and content creators in the show. In fact, we have some of them here today. Architect Dianne and Architect Dannie Florendo, Architect Ed Ramos, and Rovilson Fernandez. We will talk about being green, in several segments, to make sure you learn how to make your home last. For this launch on the 22nd, we will be showcasing Bohol as well. The producers from TV8 had worked with Habitat for Humanity in the past and they were able to really become productive. People have gone to do DIY projects and we want them to know how safe and affordable in the long run because they did it with an Architect. More than seeing places, I talk to people and connect, that is the best thing about being a host of this show."

Their episode starts this Sunday (September 22) on GTV, make sure you follow their social pages and GTV's platforms to see what they've been working on during their 9th season!

Several Actors Shine on GMA's "PULANG ARAW"

Tuesday, July 30, 2024

I've been trying so hard to keep mum about this series, I'm talking about GMA's biggest series yet, "Pulang Araw".

See, I think I've heard about it a few years ago and thought that it was going to be shelved. I'm so glad to be proven wrong today as it does the world TV premiere, right after it's launch through Netflix a couple weeks ago.

When I heard of the story, I really felt how quite promising it would be. Delving in history, the war, the Japanese, and the personal/family complications... there's just a lot of things you can pull off from that.

Here's a video of the red carpet event:

Then there's the artists portraying the role. Coming from the very successful "Maria Clara at Ibarra", GMA wants a continuation of the #BarDa pairing so they got David Licauco and Barbie Forteza in this show. Then a little about 10 years ago, they already told Alden Richards about it. This is also the first time he is being paired with Sanya Lopez, so there's a lot to see where their stories would go.

The first episode I could say had no SHORTCHANGING in the acting department. Since this is a backgrounder, the young versions of these four gigantic stars of GMA would take the spotlight. Aside from them, this is the time you'll notice how underrated RHIAN RAMOS is as she plays the mother of Barbie and Alden's characters (Adelina, Eduardo). Rhian Ramos as the mother of young Alden and Barbie is EXCEPTIONAL. She's feisty, didn't hold back raising arms for her son and daughter who got beat up, teased and bullied by other kids. She's a gem in this series albeit short-lived, it was enough to showcase who she IS as an actress. I'd give her a trophy today just for that, and I'm not even joking.

Aside from Rhian who stole the show (first episode), another person decided to tell us during the preview that he's a force to reckon with. His name is Aidan Veneracion, whom I often see in workshops under Ms. Ana Feleo (with or without reason, he comes voluntarily). Albeit new to the business as a Sparkle Teen, he's really outstanding in the first salvo. Another star is Cassy Lavarias who played the young Barbie Forteza. She has this innate charm to pull you in on her struggles. She cries like a legendary actress, but she's still a child... so imagine the things she can do in a few years. Heck, she'll give a lot of veterans a run for their money. She's that good. They could be the reason you'll love PULANG ARAW on the first episode, and  follow these individual stories through.

Here's the press conference on video, please enjoy!

Here are some of the other stars to join the show!

See, this is not normal. I could just have seen the first episode to be just another episode, but no. PULANG ARAW deserves the attention NOW and in the next few episodes. The sweetness of relationships, friendships, and nationalism, mixed with the star power of the lead stars they've managed to put together in one show, how can you not love a story like this?!

You need to watch the show, PULANG ARAW is now streaming on Netflix. The episodes will be out early in the platform, a few days before the one shown on TV and GMA subsidiaries. You don't need to deeply think about the story, you just have to have the heart to love it just like what they did to the people in their lives and this story. Imagine if it's going to be Alden, Barbie, David and Sanya's turn, they actually were phenomenal in the short instances they appeared in the first episode (Alden made the war scenes in the forest quite a visual feast!)

Make sure you watch it, because as far as I'm concerned, it's one WELL MADE series that deserves to be seen. It's realistic, excellent graphics (especially the planes during the war), funny in some places, and you'll love how.. in a way, shape or form, impress you even if you don't like it. It's that impressive!

JENNYLYN MERCADO is the face of Beautéderm's CRISTAUX Threemendous Trio Serum Line

Sunday, July 21, 2024

When you hear the name Jennylyn Mercado, you think of an actress who's got everything you want in one. She's the iconic "bhe", who's very kind, very down to earth, a mother, and wife to Dennis Trillo. It's been a while since we've seen her, but nothing seems to have changed. She's still the same beautiful woman we've adored since she won Starstruck.

Today was a special day, so Beautéderm threw her a welcome party. This is the day that they have also announced that she is the brand ambassador for the new CRISTAUX Three-mendous Trio. A line of serums meant to take care of the ravages of time, and day to day care for unblemished skin. One is the Skin Energizing Vitamin C, ZERUM Hydra Beauty Skin Brightening Serum (with Zinc), and my personal favorite the RETINOL Skin Repair Serum.

Beautéderm CEO Ms. Rei Tan and Jennylyn have been talking quite a lot through messages, but have never actually met in person. In the photoshoot for this campaign, they were finally able to do that.

Jennylyn says "When I met her, she was very nice, very humble, inspiring and I was very happy that this pushed through. We had to go through hurdles because when initial talks happened, I was pregnant and just gave birth. There were so many times we wanted to do this, but now it happened. She really took good care of me, she's a different person, it's in her nature to ask if I'm comfortable or I'm okay. She also asked if I was full, if the team was full, I was so happy to learn that I was in the right place."

She adds "When I got the serums at home, I immediately wanted to use it because I don't endorse anything that I don't personally use. I had to put it in my existing skin care regimen. I have very sensitive skin, and in fairness, I ended up with glowing skin. I use the Vitamin C Serum with facial wash and moisturizer. I use the Hydra Serum at night, but just do the retinol as needed. I usually go outdoors and ride motorcycles. I am exposed to the elements, and the sun. I sometimes suffer sun spots and pigmentation, I use the retinol for it including the age spots. I'm not young anymore so I do have fine lines and this takes care of that."

Ms. Rei Anicoche-Tan remarks "If you're a Beautéderm baby, there's something in common about us.. there's a glow. Even with light makeup, you can see that in our endorsers. Jen will be the face of all of our facial products, but we are promoting this new line. You can see this being used by me, and our endorsers. We only get people who love and know about the products, and she's the perfect one to represent that. I'm very proud of our ambassadors, even the guys, we just don't get endorsers just because of face value because consumers are smart now. They know if they use the product and if they want to emulate, they've got Beautéderm behind them. They believe and buy because of that."

Here's the rest of the event on video, please enjoy!

Beautéderm wants you to age less and glow more with the new THREE-mendous Trio. Now is the time to add serums in your existing skincare routine especially if you feel like you are aging a bit. Not when it's too late!

Congratulations Jen! Thank you Ms. Rei for always having us in your events... and of course, taking care of our skin! I love your BEAU and new CRISTAUX line, plus that lovely detangle Brush which I use on a daily basis!

Director Cathy Camarillo Served Needed "KILIG" in #BarDa Film THAT KIND OF LOVE

Tuesday, July 09, 2024

Barbie Forteza and David Licauco stars in new funny-romance film THAT KIND OF LOVE

After leaving the SM Cinemas during the "THAT KIND OF LOVE" Premiere Night, I felt quite relieved about how Director Catherine Camarillo made her recent films. After the well received "Chances Are: You and I" which stars Kelvin Miranda and Kira Ballinger, this new one probably had easier merits to execute because of the fact that this is the first film of Barbie Forteza and David Licauco.

The pairing had remarkable success in their previous shows (ie Maria Clara at Ibarra, Maging Sino Ka Man), and putting out a film wouldn't be a walk in the park because it doesn't necessarily mean that if you are good on TV, it would be the same with box office returns; because they admit, the movie industry is still ailing in some way shape or form.

This one though, holds a lot of promise. It's way different than what Barbie and David have been doing on TV for sure, and Direk CC took time to execute Ellis Catrina's vision of not only establishing these new characters, but how they could fall in love with their individual quirks, and make people feel that KILIG from start to finish.

This is exactly what the film offers. It's got a bit of laughter, a bit of romance, plus a solid love story. I feel above all, it's a gift for the #BarDa fans out there. She plays a matchmaker, while David is "The Perfect Guy". They have different upbringing, they have different set of friends, their outlook in life is not the same. When David's character talked to Barbie in the movie, he wanted her to set him up for a date. He was perfect, but he wasn't quite successful in that department. They both had egos, and the story of how they eventually fell in love is what's going to make you interested in this movie.

Director Cathy Camarillo knows how to put things together. Her first one was good, this one is better. Although on a different spectrum, this just makes all the #BarDa wishes come true. Think of what you want the #BarDa to become, and it's probably in this movie. The experience watching it on the silver screen is lovely, I guess the darkness makes you enjoy it more because nobody could see if you are smiling on your own... or crying, so nobody would judge you. That's the perk you get watching it in a cinema.

THAT KIND OF LOVE will show on theaters this coming July 10th. Barbie and David would love for you to see what they've been working on. It's a really good #BarDa project, go watch it without a care in the world. Feel that same "KILIG" Direk CC wants you to feel, it's meant to be like that.

This film is produced by Pocket Media Productions Inc., Pocket Media Films and Happy Infinite Productions Inc. It will also be released by Regal Entertainment nationwide. Thank you to Digital Out of Home Inc. for being part of this too, who made it possible for us to cover the event! Muchas gracias!

Artist PLUME and SALA Band Join GMA's AltG Records

Wednesday, March 06, 2024

Just got off the press conference with new artists Plume and SALA (the band) over zoom this afternoon. They're a pretty fun bunch to talk to and yes, you kinda feel like you're in the presence of very talented people.

Plume says "I usually write music when its nighttime because it's way quiet. I start with chord progression, then lyrics, if it fits I'll make the chorus and complete it. I listen to other artists, I find good things in it and put my own style. I try to make it comforting and relaxing as possible. Since my work is dedicated to music now, I focus on myself and my hobbies while studying. It's still music in the background so there's still input. I love music like that. It's unusual to do jazzy songs available to everyone, I usually follow that genre, it's what I do to stand out. I also utilize social media to make my work known. I think I'll be doing singles from AltG records. I want people to feel relaxed, hear pop, but learn the words and vibes are different. I feel Baguio's busking music scene is still starting. Manila has a lot of bar tours, I think it's more organized here but I hope Baguio will follow suit soon."

Plume adds "I often seen albums released then sometimes they lose track of it the whole year. I think releasing content in different times would fit me. I listen to a lot of genres, but I prefer metal, the beauty of it is when you removed the angst, the noisy lines, you'll see the nice lyrics on it. I also love classical music, they do inspire me!"

Beautiful is my Plume's first single, and still testing what people would go to after they listened to it. His inspiration is from a personal experience. Right now, he's still trying to feel what happened after signing with AltG Records. He didn't believe it til they started recording.

Sala's frontman says "We do it differently, I could write songs wherever I am, but I finish my songs in my Sala hence our name. I throw it to my peers and do the other parts of the songs afterwards. That's how we do it. Our songs are borrowed experiences and I think it stems from the things that are not often talked about."

"If we have new ideas, we put it in a group chat and contribute there. Since we have different work, different jams and gigs, we try to stay healthy by eating, exercising, if we wanted to do this for a long time we try to do that as much as possible. It is art, and we love it! For us, we're glad to have YT, Spotify, platforms that we can listen to. As a band, arrangements are still a group effort. If it evolves, I don't have to follow that because we have our own message, it's not a problem to do that but we already have 4 pov's in the band and I think that's enough. Things are changing, I think people are releasing songs when there's something consistent to give. People want new things, albums kind of put it in one basket but people have different tastes. This would give artists freedom to test what's good. We want to return to not just making love stories, it should be different topics, even taboo ones, songwriting for the sense of telling them not just invoke feeling, something that people could relate to."

SALA felt that signing with AltG was surreal. The opportunity came at a very shocking moment, and feels they can't think about collaborating with other artists yet as they're not established rock stars. Though they want to do that in the near future. Their single will be out mid March. Plume on the other hand already has his single out, plus a lyric video on YouTube. He also has plans to have a music video out soon, and he's so ready!

Good luck and I hope you all continue to record more! We would certainly love to listen to it with great gusto!

Giving Hope, Paying it Forward with "Si Manoy ang Ninong Ko"

Friday, March 01, 2024

Sherilyn Reyes Tan, Gelli de Belen, Congressman Wilbert Lee and Patricia Tumulak

Together with seasoned hosts Sherilyn Reyes Tan, Gelli de Belen, Patricia Tumulak in "Si Manoy ang Ninong Ko" is Congressman Wilbert Lee. This is his first public service show that will premiere on GMA this March 3, 7AM on Sundays.

He says "This show is different, it isn't a one time big time thing. We look at the root of the problem and give a lifelong solution. More than that, we want to give hope to a lot of people, and hope others would do the same. If they see something like the situations in our show, they would never bat an eyelash and help in their own way. Actually, we have done a lot but not publicly. We have a lot of countrymen who still couldn't get services they need. This will be a place they could go to, where the impossible becomes possible. This is what I want people to feel at the grassroots level, we're doing this not because we are aiming for a higher post. There are people who really have heart to help other people."

He adds "This started when I was in my post, I got to go around and see things for my self while I was in congress. I couldn't believe what I've seen in different places, they live hard lives and don't even have food on the table. I want to help them all, but I'm only one person, and this would show it to a lot of people. We hope this would happen soon. I am from Sorsogon, a Bicolano and I lived in a good environment because my Dad had everything in his store. He was an employee, but worked harder to sell things. We now get to build businesses, affect the lives of over 3000 employees in different industries. It's what made me want to be in politics, so I could help even more. I think everything has a right time, I know this show would make a lot of people know more of their stories."

Gelli says "I've done a few shows and this one is different because we help, it's an opportunity to know issues in one area. We don't just listen, we ask experts about how we could address things so we can do change, I want to be part of that. All I wanted to ask was how, they explained to me about the advocacy, despite all that, it's about helping fellow Filipinos. I'm learning aside from seeing how this could be instrumental in how to address societal issues holistically. This isn't the first time I'm working with Sherilyn, but is the first time with Patricia. When I saw Manoy Wilbert, he wanted to inspire those who have the capacity to help and do it. He's someone who's been doing this for a long time, and he has courage, and now he's in front of the cam, he wants to have more people to do what he's doing. Our difficulty is to find solutions for them, because we need a more permanent solution and not just a one time thing so they could sustain their livelihood, handle their money, help maintain what they receive. We have done a lot of episodes that deal with agriculture, not just focus on it because we want to help them in the social aspect of it. In a nutshell, when it gets to laws, the papers, legal documents, and the budget to get things done. Even applying for jobs require that, hopefully we would be able to help them and not need a show for it to happen. We can't just leave it up to the government to make our lives easier, we need to start with ourselves. We want this simple show to give hope, eventually more and pay it forward to others."

Sherilyn adds "The experience is so good because I am personally going to go there. We get molded with the different people we talk to. We get to see their heart, and you will see that in every episode. I was excited and really thankful about it. I talked to Sparkle personally and they agreed even if it will be conflicting with my schedules. We only were able to see other during the launch and photo shoot. I always guest at Sis which is why I've had the opportunity to work with her back in the days. When I was offered this, I did my research and of course, I asked around and saw how he helped even more without the cameras. I can vouch for that. In this show, you get to love each episode because I cried every time I watch the show. This isn't just a travel show, it's un-glamorous, because you get to adjust, be humble, be grateful, because they live in horrible conditions but still have hope in their eyes. You really need to see this every Sunday. Sometimes, you would not get to just stand and watch but help personally in their education, hospitalization, societal issues... they need to help their families and it will be their priority."

Gorgeous Patricia Tumulak

Patty says "We get to see how people live their lives, we see their unheard communities and we could choose what to do together with a lot of people from different organizations. I am so happy to be part of this! We have different regions to go to, we interview people. I think the Lord gave me this, and if every he runs for higher office, I'd support him in a heartbeat. We will be going around the country, and we have been shooting since October. Just recently, we were able to go to farmers who walk 4 hours just to go to school. It's a huge impact for me, I look forward to each story. One person who we got to help told us how fast we got to do it. I'm a preschool teacher, I want to also now teach the value of reading, sending children to school."

Here's a short talk we had after the event!

This is early morning of Sunday because they chose a time where the whole family is at home. Their hope is that the show would influence those who are fortunate to share their blessings and perhaps, bring hope to those who need it (and I see nothing but good in that). Come watch it this Sunday morning at 7am, it'll be worth your time to hear their stories and seeing how they would help them.

One Awesome SPARKLE Grand Fans Day

Sunday, December 10, 2023

Had so much fun at the #SparkleGrandFansDay at the SM SkyDome in North Edsa Quezon City. The event was hosted by Rain Matienzo, Migs Almendras and the bubbly Angela Alarcon.

Alden Richards also appeared at the event and said "It's been a yearly tradition to do this, and this is our way of giving back to every Kapuso fan who supported us and hope this serves as a Christmas gift. I would like to also take this opportunity to invite everyone to support us in our upcoming show Pulang Araw with David Licauco, Barbie Forteza and a lot of other Kapuso artists. Also, please support every entry in MMFF 2023, especially those who have Sparkle artists in them this December 25th."

Jak Roberto also opened the show, charmed his way with a song that was loved by everyone at the SkyDome, they must be anti silos scholars like me. The Sparkle Teens also got to the stage and danced a few numbers, sang a few love songs as some of them are being paired now. Their PPOP group CLOUD7 also performed their original song, it was fun, they were very young, but pretty good stuff.

It was so touching to see how fans were able to also perform with their idols at the event

Sparkle Leading Ladies #Sparklegrandfansday2023

Also, #TeamJolly was a staple. I like their songs too, perfect for making the fans kilig in the afternoon. They had several artists I've never interviewed so it was really fun to get to know them a bit through this event.

Lucky fans also didn't go home empty handed as they also got to give away prizes from their sponsors like Beautéderm, Robinsons, Demplus, Goldshine Pharma, HONOR, Dirt Bug Sun, Jimms, Kedds, Penshoppe, SM North Edsa, Park Inn by Raddison, Hobe, Savoy Hotel, and so much more.

Congratulations SPARKLE! This was so much fun!

Abby Clutario Releases "Chichi Wo Motomete" Cover Under Alt G Music

Thursday, July 06, 2023

Abby Clutario has just released her newest single, her rendition of Voltes V ending theme "Chichi Wo Motomete". Hers is a very mellow sounding one since she's using a Chapman stick which she has been using in her other singles.

Abby says "I know there are tons of people still asking about it, hopefully I could teach a few people play it in the country. Back then when I talked to the founder, they wanted to put the actual instrument in a physical store, hopefully in the future since it is an investment. I don't teach music on the side and if they like it, they can invest the same way I did. Yes, I did have to push and have the song approved and they saw the video I made a couple months back. We had to tweak it a bit since it was originally sung by a male artist. The version in the episode is done by Matt, hopefully people can see this one especially on radio. I remember manifesting this a couple months back and I am very overwhelmed about the support I get from the AltG recording company, it was hard to find the ownership and license but it all went well especially now that Voltes V Legacy is being shown in the Philippines. I'm super happy when I released this as content a few years back, but the single is a different feeling hearing it air played, my friends really gave me good feedback. It was hard to do it in the original language and glad to see the translations during the time I was recording it. It's about a man longing to find his father and making this ballad was such a perfect fit. I know there are people who want a Tagalog version of it but it's very difficult as the words and phonetics are totally different because the meaning won't be completely told. I had to re-record it and you will see the difference when it comes out."

About the Chapman stick, she says "I've always been into piano but when I held it, it sounded like a Cielo, and I loved how that sounds. This originated in the US, and I got it from a US forum and had to learn it, planned to make it a solo performance when I was still in a band. Now I can make originals and cover songs, my tie ups always include using this relatively not so common instrument. So far, I've never encountered people who don't like it, there are some but it has never affected me, I don't really pay attention especially on social media because I'm a musician and people only ask about music in general."

This cover song by Abby Clutario will be released tomorrow July 7, 2023 on streaming platforms. Go check out Spotify and others to hear what changes she's made on this iconic song. This is again under AltG Records.

KELVIN MIRANDA to Star in "Missed Connections" on Netflix

Saturday, June 03, 2023

Good looking actor Kelvin Miranda is reaping the benefits of his efforts especially this 2023 as he gets multiple projects left and right.

One of which is "Missed Connections" which he is doing together with noted actress Miles Ocampo and sexy vixen Chie Filomeno. It's off tangent of much of the characters he's played in the past; because this time, he's not the cool boy who always hit on girls, but a guy who's never had a girlfriend since birth. He's now someone who's very awkward towards them, which he says was quite hard to play during the shoot. Missed Connections by the way is already streaming on Netflix (oh yes today!) and is under the production of KROMA Entertainment. He was very game answering questions during the press conference.

Kelvin Miranda adds "For me (in finding someone to love), I always go for the one who has personality; because believe it or not, I find it hard talking to women. I don't even post much on social media and much of them understand me when I talk to them."

About his recent wins, he says "I feel the success, and I'm glad my management has always been there to support me in my projects and my personal life. I give my all when I work, because I love what I do. I'm so happy that GMA and Sparkle supports me too, they even put up this presscon just for me. I can't thank them enough because they are always there when I have projects, they give me what I deserve. I know there's a lot of artists in GMA but they do give time to see me, ask what I need."

Here's some highlights of the press conference this afternoon:

Kelvin then said "I really count my blessings, I take it easy, I listen to music so I do relax (after work), I try to be reactive on social media because I too love those who love me."

Now remember, you can stream Missed Connections on Netflix today. Kelvin also has a few projects too on GMA, plus a few films from other productions. Make sure you follow Sparkle's social channels, and his accounts to know more about what he's doing. He's certainly the next big thing!

HEARTS ON ICE Cast Speak Highly of Xian Lim's Ice Skating Efforts, Excited on Ashley Ortega's Lead Role

Saturday, March 18, 2023

Spent a few hours with some of Sparkle's brightest stars who's part of the cast of the new show HEARTS ON ICE. This is the first of it's kind, you could say the launching project of Ashley Ortega as she now takes the lead as Ponggay in this new series. She also gets to be paired with premier actor Xian Lim who's going to be interesting to see in a story of love, hardships, hope and perseverance. Athletes would surely be connecting with their characters as it'll be showcasing a lot of the things that are happening behind the scenes. Aside from that, they want people to get inspired about how they triumph over life's obstacles since it is a very hard sport.

Together with Ashley that afternoon was Skye Chua, Hannah Arguelles, Shuvee Etrata and Kim Perez (which unfortunately we didn't get to take a solo shot of because he was doing interviews). Skye actually is part of the Philippine national team, very skilled and equipped to do this stint on GMA and admitted to have had trouble doing acting, and her emotions which she usually do on ice came in handy. She used it to make sure she's also going to do good as Ponggay's rival. Hannah on the other hand will be Xian's little sister, and will be doing a lot of scenes with the Viva actor as they've got family issues to take care of too. Shuvee on the other hand will play one of Poggay's best friend and will give advice as it'll be hard to go through life without one. Kim will be on Xian's side and might provide help when his best friend would get in trouble in the show.

Xian Lim who is Ashley Ortega's partner in the show impressed not just his co-actors but even the professional skating athletes who's part of the show. They were so happy about his progress in the short amount of time he spent in training, so now he's super into the sport already. He took exams and has progressed and passed, which may mean he's going to be doing a lot of his own moves in the show.

Here's my part of the interview, hope you enjoy my questions as I did asking them!

Here's a little talk about their ice skating experience and how Ashley had to go back to training just for this show.

Hearts on Ice starts at 8:50PM weekdays on GMA, and replays a few hours after (11:30 or 11PM) on GTV. Make sure you catch the episodes to support not just Ashley and Xian, but the whole ensemble cast that's got veterans and new artists in the mix. Congratulations, I've heard it's doing good in the ratings still! I also have a few videos of their routines on our YouTube channel so just look for kumagcow on the app!

TEAM Acquires Polo Ravales, Chanel Morales and Andrew Gan

Friday, December 02, 2022

It's quite amazing to see how Tyronne Escalante Artist Management managed to become bigger by the day each time they announce new talents joining their stable. With their already stellar line of artists, one could realize how he was able to put this from the ground up, and successfully put them into pedestals, in projects, TV shows and movies which they worked hard for and deserve.  Recently, they announced artists Polo Ravales, Chanel Morales and Andrew Gan will now be part of T.E.A.M. and will manage their individual careers. With his track record, the best days will certainly come.

Polo Ravales has been in the industry for years now, and has done quite well in the race. He's done roles left and right, from drama, action, support roles, he's already have had an established career. His goal in the next few years include winning acting awards now that he's under new management. Polo also revealed how his wife Paulyn Quiza (a pro fitness coach) became the key to a huge change in his lifestyle. He used to party a lot, but now involves himself in taking care of his son, having healthy food, travel and workout which he exclaims "blessed!" that they do it on a regular basis. This new chapter in his career is going to be different and he says "TBH I didn't really knew Tyronne, but with the work I do, he came strongly recommended by a Director friend (Cathy) who was under Director Joyce Bernal. I was looking for management that would bring me to projects that would get me to the next level. I immediately called him that same day, there was even a strong typhoon at that time. Now that I'm under Tyronne, I promise to be the best version of Polo Ravales that I can be. I am happy and thankful to be part of it."

Andrew Gan adds "I've been seeing Sir Tyronne a couple of times at ABSCBN projects. When we talked, I told him that this too will be a concerted effort on both our ends. He was recommended to me by a GMA executive. He's very hands on and I will look forward to do more work now that I'm under his management. I can promise intense dedication and commitment on the work I do. What I like about Tyronne is how he's hungry, thirsty for growth. You can all see how he does it and ask "What's next?!" which I'm so thankful for. I look forward to work with him even more now that I'm under his wings."

Chanel Morales on the other hand has been in my radar since Artista Academy days on TV5. Recently, she's involved in putting up a Bar/Salon in her hometown of Bacolod in Negros Occidental. She says "First, I want to thank Kuya Ty, as you may know I was in a different management agency before. We haven't really talked that much about our plans yet but what I can promise him now is that, I am not just here as an artist, I'm also here to help him to market myself, it's a 50/50 effort and work. We met while we were still doing Artista Academy and while he was introducing a lot of artists to different shows. When I approached him and asked for his help, he didn't hesitate especially after the pandemic. He really gave me a chance to become part of TEAM and I am extremely grateful for that. I already saw how aggressive in accomplishing his goals for his artists, his management, I only wish him success on our future endeavors. I'm really looking forward to it! I didn't really ask anything specific, but just help me when inquiries pour in so they could handle it. I closed so many deals in the past including work on social media. It's what I plan to do in the next few years. I can also do hosting stints, not just acting jobs."

On a personal note, I really love Chanel. She's been very kind since Day 1. I can't wait to see her do big roles on the silver screen soon because her face is absolutely perfect on camera.

Tyronne Escalante says "For those who don't know, Chanel is Akihiro Blanco's loveteam in the past, so I was able to really get to work with her back then. I am very happy and grateful that we've added more artists to the pool of talented actors in TEAM. I mean who wouldn't be happy to see that you'll have Polo Ravales, Chanel Morales and Andrew Gan in our roster. It's a growing family, and I am glad to welcome them all here!"

This is just the start of big things that are about to happen in Polo Ravales, Chanel Morales and Andrew Gan's careers. I hope that soon, we'll begin interviewing them for the projects they are eyeing here, because these talented artists really deserve it.

Congratulations and welcome to Tyronne Escalante Artist Management!
