New GMA Afternoon Prime Show SHINING INHERITANCE Premieres September 9

 

Every time I get invited to a GMA press conference, I know it's going to be BIG.

This goes the same with this new series called "SHINING INHERITANCE", a Philippine adaptation of a KDrama series entitled "Brilliant Legacy" shown around 2009. 

Kate Valdez is going to be leading this show together with the iconic Ms. Coney Reyes. The main antagonist is going to be Kyline Alcantara who's previously worked with Kate in an opposite role. They will be together with Paul Salas, Michael Sager, Roxie Smith, the vampiric Wendell Ramos, Ms. Glydel Mercado, Aubrey Miles, Gio Alvarez, Dave Bornea, Jamir Zabarte, Seth Dela Cruz, and very funny newcomer Charuth (who also hosted the event).

Kate says "I already worked with her (Kyline) in Black Lipstick and I'm very excited to work with her because I want her to make life hard with my character. I'm thankful she's the Joanna to my Ynna. I was able to create the persona of my character because she breathed life with hers. People think she's serious all the time but no, she's very makulit in real life." 

Kyline replied "This is our moment, this is it Kate! Like what she said, we've worked together in Black Lipstick where she played the contrabida. But now, this is my turn to make her character's life miserable. I also got to create my character's persona because of her. Kate is a thinking actress. She gives emotions on scenes that you can feed off of. I know the scenes are difficult but if you have someone like her who is generous, you can make the scenes easy because of her and the rest of the cast who are equally good."

The trailer alone looks painful when Kyline smothered Kate's face on the ground. In the series, there will be a lot of this and more as they promised... plus some unforgettable ones from Ms. Coney Reyes.

She says "First of all, like the character I'm really a grandma. It hits home, and also having dementia, it's a challenge and it is hard to portray Dela Costa. It's my 50th year in show business, I started in May of 1974. My first drama was here in GMA, it was around 1981 after I gave birth to my first child. After the noontime show, I was lucky to be next in a drama. When I found out this was in the same slot, it was a welcome thing for me. Lord definitely has a reason why he put me here. It doesn't matter for me to be here or in prime time. It is exciting for me to see how it is again in the afternoon prime. Many of my followers are mothers, housewives, grandmas, same as my age. I am working with Gen Z actors here, it's a blessing from God to be working alongside the Gen Z generation and a different set of audience. God gave me different shows with a different set of actors and I think a new set of audience from previous shows will appreciate that. I believe there's a purpose, to use what he gave me and share it."

Shining Inheritance will premiere on September 9. Make sure you watch the show because it's going to be in a Filipino perspective. This is going to be a lot different than the KDrama execution according to the director.

GMA Outs New Shows and Says #LoveTogetherThisSummer

GMA has always been in the business of entertaining you... and this summer, it's going to be more exciting as they introduce new shows, a couple new artists that will surely make your wish to #LoveTogetherThisSummer a reality.

 

Their summer theme "Love Together This Summer" was sung by Thea Astley and Anthony Rosaldo with lyrics by Jann Fayel Lopez and arrangement by Natasha Correos.

GMA King and Queen Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera will be in a new show called "JOSE and MARIA's BONGGANG VILLA" starting May 14th. Rayver Cruz, Jak Roberto and Kylie Padilla on the other hand will be in "BOLERA" which will be starting on May 30 during GMA Telebabad. Teen cuties Sofia Pablo and Allen Ansay will be doing "Raya Sirena" showing on April 24th. Queen of Comedy Aiai Delas Alas and Shayne Sava will be in a touching Mother Daughter show "Raising Mamay" on April 25 at GMA Afternoon Prime. Zoren Legazpi, Maricel Laxa, Mikee Quintos and Lianne Valentin will be in the advocacy driven series "Apoy Sa Langit" starting May 2. Lovebirds Gabbi Garcia and Khalil Ramos will be in Love You Stranger (coming soon on GMA Telebabad). Julie Ann San Jose will also be in LIMITLESS (the third installment) called RISE on April 9 and 10), Xian Lim and Glaiza De Castro will be in the show "False Positive" coming out on May 2nd. There will be a really thorough election coverage since May will be that month to choose Leni Robredo as President (hehe).

That's just the tip of the iceberg, as GMA will be continuing to provide what Filipinos will like the most on afternoon and primetime entertainment. Watch em all! 

 

Prima Donnas To Show More Twists on GMA Afternoon Prime

Top Rating Prima Donnas has extended their watching hours til Saturdays and with the recent success of the show, these ladies are excited to share what will happen with the story. Yes, there will be more twists and turns that are bound to affect you during afternoons, because there will be more!

Elijah Alejo plays Brianna, the villainess in the show. She says “We are doing this to inspire people. Our faith with God and the good things we have done with Direk Gina. There might be more characters in the coming weeks and who knows, we might have new love interests. Brianna will be more greedy, there will be more hospital scenes and fights you will see on screen.”

Althea Ablan adds “We have veterans from the competing show, but we did good despite that. James Blanco just came in the picture and it will be something people will look forward to. We do talk about boys, and if ever I got to choose, I would like to work with Miguel Tanfelix.”

Sofia Pablo says “When we learned that it will only be two weeks before they leave, it didn’t matter to us but we definitely made it as a challenge. I remember the scenes I did with Brianna, slapped her hard. Who knows, those memes about Encantadia might happen, if given a chance it would be fun to do that or any role for that matter.”

Jillian Ward “We have a solid story, it is important to learn and inspire, Mondays to Saturdays is such a long time to entertain people and we have to be more creative, which we are very confident about. Work is work, even if we do hurt each other in scenes we know before and after the scene we have to check. Every time we slap each other the ratings go high. That fruit salad scene is unforgettable, it stuck on my hair for a while.”

New Gen Lead Stars on GMA's Madrasta

This would be a huge challenge for these guys, but after seeing the pilot episode yesterday, I'm quite confident they would be able to do a good job in Madrasta.

It's a new show, but casts include the new generation of prime actors from GMA's stable. They have done several shows, led some of them in fact; but the burden of having a drama piece and seriousness of it takes a lot effort wise as what I have understood with Juancho Trivino said. He will be also working with Arra San Agustin and Thea Tolentino (whom I love personally and in several shows). 

This series is about romance, adultery, and will involve their families. Check out our interview with them last week.

Make sure you watch the show as recent social media reactions have been very positive. I am confident Arra, Juancho and Thea can give you more in the coming days. 

Madrasta, only on GMA!

Megan, Kris, Rayver and Kim On GMA’s Afternoon Prime

Had so much fun at the media conference for the new show Hanggang Sa Dulo ng Buhay Ko for GMA’s Afternoon Prime. It will be showing after the hit show Dragon Lady ends, a tall order but this is an entirely different story, something new for TV viewers. It will star Megan Young, Kris Bernal, Rayver Cruz and Kim Domingo.

Kris Bernal says “This project is really hard for me because it’s a horror flick, I had to watch more of Japanese horror films to prepare for this but I am so afraid of it so I had to really face my fears.”

Boots Anson Roa says “In this series I am going to be the anti hero, very conservative, I will be against them from the start. I will be involved in their love life, knowing how schizo in her family runs, I wanted to be protective of him but he chose to marry the girl. Yuen will be also dear to me, he’s the son of Rayver and Kris in the show. I’ll be genuinely taking care of him.”

Kim Domingo says “I can’t reveal much but I am very close with Megan’s character. Let’s just leave it at that.”

Beverly Salviejo adds “Everything that I did includes me being scared, but I am feeling and witnessing everything, so the difference is I am with Ms. Boots Anson Roa here, and we have beliefs we applied in situations. You’ll have to watch out for that.

Ken Chan Plays Father with Special Needs in “My Special Tatay”

Ken Chan has always been so nice to me, even his fans who always holds a special place in his heart. Today is the premiere of his new show “My Special Tatay” in GMA’s afternoon prime, and of course GMA Artist Center arranged an intimate viewing party for several of Ken Chan’s fan groups as they were eagerly waiting for this new soap.

Honestly I was expecting another installment of his previous successful project Destiny Rose but I guess he’s doing this to employ something different, to make himself challenged as he portrays different roles and probably make himself learn as a better actor.

Ken Chan says ”We had a shooting day today but had to cancel it so we can be with you guys. Our goal is to be able to send the message across, about this condition and how people with special needs need help and understanding. Thank you for helping us, I hope you get to watch this from start to finish.”

Bruno says “When we accepted this project and saw the material, we were very excited to be in it. I play an anti hero, not much of a contra bida and he's a little on the soft side. I hope you all get to see us and how we tell this important story that has a lot of lessons.”

Arra San Agustin came in front and said “I am so happy to see you all eager to watch the first episode, I hope would like this show. We spent a lot of time making this.”

Direk LA says “Thank you so much for your support, I hope you continue to watch the show and perhaps we’ll have a longer run if you show how much you love this. I hope I can take you all to the set, we have so many things in store for you guys so thank you for coming here today, enjoy the pilot! Thank you for supporting Ken and the whole show!”

Here's the rest of our interview on video,we asked them about the show and how they feel about the acceptance of the audience during the pilot episode.

When we watched the episode earlier, it evidently showed they took time to actually anchor the life story of Ken Chan’s character and what happened with his parents. They told us these are all significant so you get to know why the circumstances happen, as it is not only on the pretense of having special needs, they too are people who get affected by life, they live day to day like you and me, and how they want you to know that despite his condition, he was able to accomplish being a good father.

This is a touching story, out of the box characters that Ken Chan enjoys and he attributes these interesting acting pieces to the management of GMA whom he trusts over the years to become who he is today. He said thanks to the people present there, Puradak Chicken (for our meals) and Bench who gave us goodies to take home too.

You should watch what happens tomorrow, I bet there would be more interesting people they need to tell you about so make it a habit to watch My Special Tatay on GMA Afternoon Prime!

Glaiza De Castro Topbills New GMA Afternoon Show CONTESSA

Had the privilege to watch the new show Contessa, GMA Entertainment Content Group’s offering for the afternoon time slot of the Kapuso network. This is about how a woman wanted to fight, wanted to be free, who wanted to love and just live.

Glaiza De Castro who takes the lead role says “I feel people will be surprised about how I would be beaten up, slapped, thrown out and abused by people, not the feisty one from Encantadya. It’s old school but hopefully you’ll feel hope for her no matter how hard her problems would be. That in a way will have someone to take care of you no matter how hard life is.”

“It’s as stressful as the traffic in Manila, to be trusted with a good material, we just wanted to give thanks to the people behind this. Of course there is pressure, like I said I just want to make this realistic, focus my energy on what needs to be done rather than just ratings. I don’t think you won’t be rewarded if you do your best. The change of character is very drastic, I need to have someone guard me and my face because I didn’t want it to be too strong like Pirena. I connect with my co stars here. Revenge plots are deep in culture so that mentality is not really gone. In our soaps, you can compare it ti history, people look for hope in times like these and see if the decisions they make are right or wrong. When I read scripts I really enjoy how they are like heroes/heroines, like how it’s out of this world and fascinating like my fantasy shows. Yes Bea will be weak, she also will suffer even after her husband dies, be at fault and go to jail, but that’s where she will meet a whole lot of people with really make her think about the tough choices she had to do later on, it’ll be a little like Orange is the new Black but different delivery of course. Contessa later on will learn her lesson from these ladies that she’ll meet in prison, which will make her plot her revenge.”

Gabbi Eigenmann says “Yes I know it’s so nice to reminisce how Glaiza and I came from Dading and that’s where we actually got so close, so was really looking forward to work with her on any capacity. My character is going to be mean with Bea in this series but as long as I get to work with her I’m good. Dading was raw, it ended nice because we showed real feelings to end the show, this I hope would be the same.”

Phytos Ramirez adds “I am going to be evil but mostly because I’m only following orders, I would do everything for money and that’s what I’ll do all the time. I will be instrumental in my boss’ fall later on but not in the near future, it will be a difficult life for Bea first.”

Lauren Young says “I’m not entirely evil, perhaps a percentage of me will only be in that situation because she’ll be a boss one day then very childish and no backbone the next. The family ties will also hasten her to be part of what they are doing, and the thought of fighting over a man, with Marco, and the situation will get worse because of that even if he dies. That’s where her angst came from. I’ll also be one of the reasons why Bea’s life is going to be difficult. She’s a business woman, a very good one. But what Daniela wants, Daniela gets.”

Denise Barbacena says “I won’t be 100 percent evil, more like the Phytos lady version because I work for Lauren’s character. She’s my boss but I will be comic relief as all of them are already very serious.”

The revenge plot is just the tip of the iceberg and judging from the first episode we watched this evening, you may have to watch and start it from Episode 1 so you understand where the characters are coming from.

Camille Pratts and Neil Ryan Sese for “Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw”

GMA is amping up their morning tine slot starting with this promising show called “Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw!”. Topbilled by Camille Pratts and Neil Ryan Sese, they’ll make you swoon with their love story from Mondays to Fridays at 11:30AM. They will also be together with some of the most talented actors from their stable Bruno Gabriel and Starstruck’s Ayrs Mariano. They’ll be challenging a tough pairing in the other channel but I’m sure they’ll be actually putting up a good fight. Their premise, a love story that has got to do with fate, chances, love in unexpected places which would make viewers root for them right from the start of the show.

Neil Ryan Sese

This is based on a true story of the relative of one of the writers. It’s like they had coffee, same flavor, same shop, sat in tables but never met. They also dined in restaurants, ordered the same food at the same time but never even saw each other. Then in one party, they were introduced, they didn’t know they lived in the same condo, both single parents and now want to keep their lovelife FOREVER, and didn’t know they were right beside each other, all along.

Now they go through a dating phase, the comedies included. They also met through alter ego accounts, kindred spirits but didn’t know they knew each other. GMA Entertainment Content Group and Marco Fundales’ concept seemed too true, until this love story that talks about destiny HAPPENED.

Their Director Jude Paulo Diangson says “It will be different because of the treatment, it will focus on light romance, but not shallow. It has substance and authenticity, that’s our target and it’s weired because I was able to watch this and felt it. The story is not complicated, easy to understand but not too conflicted.”

The magnanimous Ms. Odette Khan

Ms. Odette Khan says “Well I want you to know that there is no acting involved, this is me and my daughter in law and I am so happy to be part of this. I will treasure this award I got for the rest of my life, we all know we work hard for this and I think it’s mine and no one can take it. The only kid I have passed away in this show and I don’t like her. Yon! Thank you to GMA 7 the best network ever!”

Camille Pratts

Neil says “This is my first time to be a romantic leading man, I’m not scary this time and I had to be more natural. I’m really thankful they chose me to play Lance. I knew he’s hopeful. The material alone is promising and we don’t have to do anything but just follow the process and hope it would reflect with the audience who will watch this show. Camille is pretty and fun to be with. I feel bad about the passing of Direk Maryo but the last time we talked it was about this project. He told me to get more good looking and macho, but I told him I can do that macho part though the good looks part is already as is.”

Camille adds “The challenge really is just toning down the intensity. I love romcoms because it looks effortless but really does have to do a lot with it. It’s a good thing even normal people can have a second chance, that’s what I want people to pick up from this show. I also believe in serendipity, in God’s perfect time you will meet your special someone. When I read this, it felt so familiar, my lines even felt like it in real life. It’s probably why Ginny as a Mom and her journey, I could totally relate with her. It’s not going to be gone in my life, it’s always going to be there. Vj and Nathan are my priorities, that’s where I pour because it’s always going to be part of my life. God has plans for us and I didn’t see parts of my life like this, but it came for me and my kid, I think that’s why we have this. We love Ms. Odette dearly, we even sometimes laugh so much we had to stop taping. Neil will be topless in one scene, so you have to watch this. The things you will see here can happen in real life, it would be easy to love the story because everything is relateable and simple just to be able to entertain. Back then I had to get raped and stuff but in this script we had to fall in love. Our director made it even easy for us to do this. I am grateful that GMA believes in me, this is a blessing to be in this show even if I just gave birth.”

Bruno says “I haven’t really loved enough people to know if serendipity is true or not but I’m sure there’s someone out there for all of us. As a follow up to Grind, this looks different because it’s younger, humorous, and we’re excited we got even more close. We haven’t had scenes yet (Camille) but happy to work with Neil because reminds me of my real Dad. Pretty much the same with Ayra, I would be happy to continue this love team with her. ”

Ayra Mariano says “It’s our first time to work with them, super happy to be with them on scene because you are not intimidated. I am so glad management gave us this roles and build our loveteam. I think this is what’s happening with out love team, I can work with Migo but I’m happy with Bruno. We still have people hoping for that to happen because of TOTGA, so anything goes.”

Archie Alemanya

The sexy Kai Cortez

Kai Cortez says “I love Camille, but this has been the first time I worked with her in a series. I see a lot of things we have in common and as far as friends go, we’re good.”

Again if you’re up for a feel good light romantic show, then you should watch “Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw!” on GMA’s morning slot at 11:30AM, March 12 right before Eat Bulaga.
