LG Honors Filmmakers in 21st Cinemalaya

Thursday, October 23, 2025

It was a really different celebration that happened at this year's Cinemalaya. It was light, quite unserious, but the merits were still given to those that deserve it. For those who don't know, it's an annual independent film festival made to empower those who make films, those who write, people in front and behind the cameras.

Leading electronics brand LG knows how important this is for Philippine cinema, and they've become a major sponsor for this event as they do their 21st installment. Their theme this year is "Layag sa Alon, Hangin at Unos" which means to journey through waves, the wind and the storm.

They also want to give importance to those who make these inspiring stories. They've always been part of efforts in making sure technology supports those who are in the creative industry and arts. Which is why they are doing the legwork, and will give some of them LG OLED Evo AI C5 television sets as this year's winners!

Here's some on the list:

The LG OLED evo AI TV's use "Perfect Black" technology which means you get the black that you want for the feel you intended to have on scenes. The sets also utilize A11 AI processor 4K Gen 2 so you get the depth and drama as the filmmaker intends to show. There's a lot to love on these really good TV's.

If it's good for Cinemalaya, you should think about what you want to have on your own home.

LG Unveils Isaiah Cacnio Digital Piece "Fragments" at National Museum of Natural History

Wednesday, June 18, 2025

So much has happened at the National Museum of Natural History when the folks from LG and Isaiah Cacnio unveiled his series called "FRAGMENTS" which was inspired by geological wonders in the country, and is a fully digital art. This is the first time that the National Museum has also housed something digital, so in a way, they are making history. I've seen it in person and it was huge. It also moves, non-static, super different from the things they usually display. Fragments is made up of three installations called Where Fire Begins, Stories in Stone, and What Breaks, Flows. Graphics in different colors that move and emulate emotion, you could easily be carried away when you view it there.

LG also showcased their latest OLED and QNED TV's that uses AI and the latest generation of features they have for devices. They also took us to see how they've changed the technology used for their TV's and AI Magic remote. It had less buttons and more function, which is apparently a good way to ergonomically change the usual crazy presses we need to do to watch TV or use apps in it. They're definitely changing the way we watch TV.

Robi Domingo hosted the event and interviewed Bela Padilla, Mika Reyes and LA Tenorio about their experience using LG products. From gaming, to binge watching and using the LG OLED B5 and QNED's features, they got to discuss how they enjoyed every bit of it. Oh and before I forget, the National Museum of Natural History also received the Php 500,000 worth of display tech from LG. This is part of their commitment to culture and education (as this is not the first time they've done this). This will be part of the display for years, their way of honoring the past. Make sure you visit the museum and enjoy the art installations, it's truly rare to see things like it in the Philippines. You can have them though if you get them from appliance stores nationwide!

Cacnio's work was a stunner. I couldn't believe what I was seeing on display that afternoon. Go check it out at the National Museum. Entrance is free, but arrangements can be made for guided tours (I think it's a better option) so email them ahead.

LG Highlights New Soundbars at CES 2023

Thursday, January 12, 2023

Looks like LG Electronics took advantage of the CES show in Las Vegas as they introduced new Soundbars and Home Entertainment products this January.

For starters, they've got the new SC9 and SE6 models that could bring exceptional audio with state of the art features and very stylish designs. It also can be perfectly paired with the existing LG TV models and connect with its audio channels so you get an immersive experience even at home. This can be perfect for those looking for multi surround solutions so owners can listen to Dolby Atmos and IMAX quality sound through DTS:X technology.

It's also easy to control and manage from the LG TV's Home Dashboard even wirelessly via WOWCAST so you don't need to have wires running from wall to wall. It also looks pretty and very minimalist which LG is quite known for. Also, with LG's Triple Sound Optimizer, you can enjoy life like sound, much like spatial audio for those movies or music videos you absolutely love!

If that ain't enough, LG also has an advanced AI Sound Pro feature which automatically chooses the sound settings for you without the need for mumbo jumbo. Imagine the things you could do with the wireless soundbars that LG has in their arsenal, it would be easy to design home theaters, listening rooms and just about any entertainment space you like. I'd love to also see it perform with video gaming consoles since I'm quite fond of it.

Judging from the product photos from the event, it's fit for small spaces and quite sleek, so it'll fit right in your home especially if your space is a little modern. You should take a look at CES 2023 highlights and see what advancements LG has in store for you. See why almost every home in South Korea has this brand.

You may also follow #LGCES2023 on social channels for more updates about their participation.

LG RECONNECT 2022: Experiencing New LG Monitors in Real Life

Saturday, July 23, 2022

You can't say it's immersive without experiencing it all so the folks at LG Philippines got us all to see it in action with the latest models of monitors, TV sets and even a real deal transparent monitor at the recent LG RECONNECT 2022 event at the Podium Mall in Pasig City.

They also worked with the largest distributor of IT brands in the country VST-ECS Phils. to see how much of the international companies work with the best monitors LG has and use it for different scenarios. For starters, gaming, office work, presentations, photo and video editing, telephony, video conferencing (yes I see you Cisco, the Meraki setups were sick!), having it with different accessories (Logitech), and working in different environments (again with different brands), still LG fits the bill.

Thank you for the fun afternoon, the entertainment and the experience of having these LG Monitors used in different scenarios. I am eyeing that monitor that Magic Liwanag is using for photo and video editing, I just have to look at some of the great things that LG offers. And I bet, I'll be sharing the experience of doing that in a few days. Stay tuned!

You Can Do and See More with LG UltraWide Monitors

Monday, May 02, 2022

The need for a dependable, workhorse for monitors is at an all time high now. With professionals arranging work from home, you need something that can accomodate all the windows on your screen, all the software you need, a refresh rate and resolution acceptable in world standards. If it can't do that, it's going to be extra difficult for those who need it in these conditions. LG Electronics have continued to innovate these past few years including their top of the line LG UltraWide monitors. With the likes of the UltraWide Full HD Resolution 2560x1080, it surely gives one more real estate space on screen, that's about 33 percent compared with an FHD screen (1920x1080) used in some homes and offices.

LG's UltraWide 29WP500-B model can give you ample views for textbooks, notes, lectures, video calls without having the need to switch to other windows if you're a student. Quality wise, it won't dissappoint you with HDR10, 99% color gamut, IPS which makes everything pleasing to the eyes. I on the other hand need one because I do gaming on my laptop, which is a little difficult to see when you flick for aiming at enemies. With its AMD FreeSync tech, you see high resolution and fast paced game details without any lags as long as corresponding hardware can do it. This can do it in a very fluid manner, perfect for casual or pro gaming. If it can do that, imagine on what it can do when watching movies, YouTube videos, or media in your network. You can also use the wide screen for putting up multiple windows, so sharing or viewing data would be easy especially when Excel Sheets are involved at work.

LG Electronics has been recognized for their LG PuriCare AeroTower Air Purifier and the LG tiiun for innovation. They were also given nods for their LG One Quick Flex All in One display solution, the LG UltraGearTM Gaming Laptop, the LG OLED evo Gallery Edition and several OLED evo TV models which they have showcased in the past year. They have designed these pieces with the users in mind, something that has made great strides for them at the Red Dot Awards. They were also given accolades at the CES Awards in 2022 for their products under Home Appliances, Entertainment and Business Solution categories for a total of 150 given at the hybrid CES event this year.

Congratulations to LG for always putting the consumer at the forefront of their innovations, how they start technology, think about their design and give value when releasing products around the world.

Life in Details: LG Outs New Monitors, OLED and Nanocell TV's, and XBOOM Go Speakers

Monday, October 05, 2020

Just got off the web conference with the good people from LG Philippines as they showcase their latest monitors, TV’s and audio devices. I saw a LOT of things I would like especially the new wide screen monitors that I could use for gaming and watching videos.

Inkwun Heo Managing Director of LG says “We perceive them as essentials. Essentials to make our homes better. We want to see life in detail even while we stay at home under the new normal. Our new line of monitors and speakers are things you can enjoy." He even made that heart gesture that kdrama oppas usually do. :)

Vlogger, Model, Movie and TV star Mikael Daez says “This baby is made for multitasking. Megan and I have no tapings these days and everything is online. Streaming is growing, these LG Ultragear and LG Ultrawide has been absolutely amazing, no input lags, it’s a better streaming experience. I am showing my personal setup, this is what I use for editing and gaming. Customers will be able to experience that as well.“

Kyra Yambao the Product Manager for LG adds “LG does not compromize, this has good aspect ration so everything is on the screen at any given time.

Director and Film Maker Milhail Red says “Film maker mode presents cinematic experience, the exact settings directors and colorists want you to see their film. This is what happens in LG OLED TV’s. This is intended for the big screen but LG has the technology to preserve what we intend you to see, that is important for visual storytellers.”

Angelica Dumlao the LG Product. Manager says “Film makers have a vision and what directors want you to see is what is supposed to be on TV.”

Aaron Parcon the Product Manager for LG and pro basketball player LA Tenorio adds “Never miss your team play, feel like you are on the sidelines, bluetooth surround ready, that is LG OLED Sports TV. True to life, make sports realistic, this is 100 times faster than regular LED TV. I always watch NBA and PBA moves, so I could do them well. I watch it vividly, very lifelike, perfect for my fluid lifestyle, because it’s like you are there. LG makes it possible. Right now, I am enjoying my newborn baby at home, I binge watch K dramas. Before I miss a lot of details, now it is all clear. It is realistic that I really am afraid with zombies and stuff. The TV has millions of pixels, when I review games I feel like I have an advantage because I can see them all, even footwork, this is all different!”

Gaming on TV

LG OLED Self Lit Pixels make HDR gaming good with detailed pitch blackness (perfect black), ultra low latency, flawless big screen gaming. ESports is gaining traction, LG OLED TV’s are NVIDIA Gsync compatible, the chances of eye fatigue is low too. Highest response time, low input lag, and you’ll be fine as it has less blue light.

Megan Young says “Display latency, ghosting is gone, this reveals all the hidden details and is amazing. The TV is also beautiful and it lets me watch shows in one instance, and also play games and stream it as well. I’m a good support with Mikael, he keeps on beating me. It has been great because it fits my mood. I have voice activated control, *calls Mikael* and I get the controls in an instant LOL.”

LG Nanocell TV

Pure colors, now on ultra large screens, this is LG Nanocell 8k. It gives stunning visual details, you can watch movies, sports and play games.

James Deakin says “This is a game changer. It gives the real 8K, with deep learning algorithm that removes dull colors and reduce noise. LG Nanocell Real 8K comes in the right budget, get unbelievable tech without the more premium price. There is no such thing as too many TV’s, I use them as paintings at times and the gallery is amazing! I am blessed to be trusted by LG to experience the technology before the market gets it. The way they think is just hard, they enhance your lifestyle.”

Angelica adds “OLED is best, but Nanocell employs backlit tech for perfect black. If you are looking for a bargain, bang for buck, you are going to get value out of that.”

The LG XBoom Go PL5 and PL7 are portable Bluetooth speakers that give any room, big or small, an immersive surround sound experience. Go all day with 24 hour batteries on the LG XBoom Go. XBOOM has balanced deep and powerful sound boost. Crystal clear audio, surround sound with your LG TV even at home. This is life in details.

The LG UltraGear and Ultrawide makes you experience gaming better. It is also versatile, the seamless switch between gaming and watching. LG OLED TV’s give you the nicest sound quality, realistic like people on the show are there with you. LG Nanocell places a lot of value with your TV, we multitask with with the TV, you can talk to it and do so much at a lower cost. You can even use it as a stunning display of art, all visually arresting. The Nanocell TV provides that little bridge between TV to the huge leap to the OLED. The film maker mode on the OLED makes movies seen as what it is intended.

This is just a nice way to enjoy life even at these trying times. If you feel like you deserve a treat, LG has these offered on Lazada and other authorized retailers listed on the LG website.

Oh and yes, LG is also doing a lot behind the scenes as the pandemic is on its nth month. They gave away washing machines, tons of TV monitors, to help lessen the burden of our frontliners and the less fortunate. They also sent some for hospitals and organizations across the country.

Congratulations LG! Keep doing what you are doing good!
