Meet Miss World Philippines Candidate Gwendolyn Fourniol

Negros Occidental is my province and I'm so glad they're being represented well in the Miss World Philippines pageant as Filipino-French lass Gwendolyn Fourniol vies for the title this 2022.

Gwen is pushing for the education platform to promote ERDA Foundation (Edicational Research and Development Assistance) which is a non-stock, non-profit organization aimed to help underprivileged kids to have education and change their lives. This cause is something that hits home for her because her Mom Sim Bolivar (albeit poor) was saved by the organization, got her to finish an AB Psychology degree at Philippine Womens University. This has given her Mom an opportunity to work abroad where she also met Gwen's Father. It's one of the reasons why she's very involved in ERDA's projects, as it has also been her advocacy to help kids, to hopefully have the same chance in life.

For her, Miss World Philippines does beauty with a purpose. She also plans to put up a French language school in the future to hone Filipinos to speak English, Tagalog and French which she also knows. Gwen is curently pursuing an Economics degree in Oxford Brooks based in London, UK and plans to also get internship from multinational corp JP Morgan.

This officially her second shot at the Miss World Philippines title. She's done a remarkable job last time as she was able to get into the top 15 semi finalists. I'm glad to see her becoming a heavy favorite with netizens and pageant enthusiasts but I must say, I'm not surprised. She's got the looks, but best of all, she's got the heart to become a worthy title holder.

Gwen also has a team behind her led by ProMedia's Paul Izon Reyes, Jam Aquino of Belle Salon. They are pioneers of beauty pageants and body building competitions and they trained her differently. She's got the looks, inner strength, very smart and confident. They also believe in her cause and know it puts her ahead of the pack. Hopefully, she'll do good in the Miss World Philippines 2022 pageant, and represent the country in an even larger platform such as Miss World. If Gwen can help thousands get education in the Philippines, if that happens in a world stage, it could make an even bigger impact. Here's to Candidate number 25, wishing you get that title for Negros Occidental, the Philippines and the world!

"Exceptionally Empowered Filipina" PH Bets Vie for 3 Crowns

It feels so surreal that our queens from Miss World Philippines are on their way to the respective countries of competition as they vie for different titles this 2022. Kathleen Paton Miss ECO Philippines 2021, Tracy Maureen Perez Miss World Philippines 2021, Michelle Arceo Miss Environment Philippines 2021 graced the send off ceremonies at B Hotel in Quezon City. The Miss World Philippines National Director and President of ALV Group of Companies Arnold Vegafria was there to wish the ladies well as they head on their way to Egypt, Puerto Rico and India this month.

First up is Kathleen Paton who is on her way to Cairo, Egypt as of this writing to compete at the 7th Miss Econ International pageant which will be held there from March 6-18. On the other hand, the coronation night for Miss World will be done on March 16 (around 12:30am on the 17th Manila time). The Miss World Organization has previously postponed the coronation night on the date itself because of heightened COVID-19 cases in Puerto Rico, but Tracy is raring to go because she's done really remarkable and won the Head to head and Beauty with a Purpose Challenge for the Miss World competition. Albeit a little frustrating that festivities had to be stopped like that, she's keen on winning the crown... using the time off to prepare even more before the actual crowning happens this year. Meanwhile, Michelle Arceo who's going to Mumbai, India from March 21 to April 2 (Crowning on April 2) just impressed us all with her looks and capacity to answer quite eloquently during the Question and Answer part of the presscon this afternoon. She's quite prepared, a little nervous, but confident that she's also getting that crown. It will be shown on April 2, 7:30PM Manila time. Miss World Philippines also has changed their mantra starting this month, with the words "Exceptionally Empowered Filipina", a fitting tribute to the powerful and influential women who have gotten crowns from the pageant. This coincides with International Women's Month which is celebrated this March. The three peat is definitely within reach, go support them on their social media channels and help them get there!

The Miss World Sendoff: Michelle Dee Vies for 2nd PH Crown

The Philippine pageant fanatics are still probably in disbelief with what happened in Miss International. But earlier, we were able to see Michelle Dee, as we are sending a fierce and gorgeous candidate for Miss World 2019. The sendoff was hosted by ALV, Miss World PH organization and GMA Artist Center. She is going to London UK as announced. She is also the daughter of noted actress and beauty queen herself Miss Melanie Marquez.

Michelle has been educated in De La Salle University and has a degree in Psychology. She’s also a model, actress and TV personality. She has hosted events, shows, and champions autism awareness. She’s very beautiful. She is planning and training doubly hard to take the Philippines’ second Miss World crown after our lovely Queen Megan Young.

She says “I am focusing on promoting my advocacy for autism awareness. I have been doing work with the Autism Society Philippines and we’ve been doing events to promote inclusivity, to work with several brands in our campaigns. I also need help in the Multimedia Fastrack Challenge via the Mobstar app, where I need the Filipinos help. I will also be leaving for London on November 19, together with my family, handlers from MWP and GMA 7. I also will be going there with my friends and training team.”

The Miss World Pageant night will happen on December 14, 2019 Saturday at 10pm and will be broadcasted live via satellite. GMA Artist Center was also supported by Goju Juice Drinks, Blue Water Day Spa, M&Ms and Doublemint by providing the attendees products after the media conference.

Laura Lehmann and Winwyn Marquez Heads Off To Fight for Global Crowns

It's a great day today and we're blessed to start it with something good, our best bets for Miss World 2017 Laura Lehmann and Winwyn Marquez had a sendoff party with the press this afternoon. For those who don't know Miss World Philippines Laura Lehmann will be flying to Guangzhou, China this October 20 for the Miss World 2017 activities and the crowning on November 18 at the Sanya City Arena. 

She's a Smart Ambassador (Laura) that's why I see her sometimes in Smart events, but she worked so hard for that body as you may see. Miss World will be a little tougher for the queens this year because there will be excercises that involves track and stuff. She will also be joining the Dances of the World part and will be performing Cariñosa which roots came from Spanish Filipino influences. She will need our help too because we would need to vote via the MOBSTAR APP where we need to download and vote by searching her name and swiping right. Laura Lehmann had a chance to also show her advocacy video where she's pushing to create a Milk Bank for a public hospital to care for premature babies, ones with special needs as this will also be part of their pageant to show their advocacies.

Wynwyn Marquez will be leaving October 19 for New York, Panama City then Sta. Cruz Bolivia. She will be representing the country for the Miss Reina Hispanoamericana pageant. She will also be doing a couple of shows and showcase her talent during her stay there. She's the first Filipina to actually join this pageant and she will win, we all hope!

This will be a really great opportunity to show the beauty of the Filipina, the Philippines and our beauty with a purpose. Can't wait to see them wear the crown!

Miss World Philippines Kicks Off Search This 2017

Having been able to witness how we won last 2015, rightfully so with Megan Young, Miss World 2017 is breaking new ground in this year's competition. 

Miss World National Director Arnold Vegafria wants to make this year bigger, trendier and showcase Filipino culture. He says "I am honored and privileged to make Miss World Philippines bigger and better this year. We're looking forward to continue showcasing Filipina beauty with a purpose to the world stage as we take one what the Miss World Organization has been doing all these years and continue helping with their goals. They are still the longest running major international pageant since 1951, and we've never been more proud to have had one this 2013 with Ms. Megan Young. 

We will also be introducing three new titles this year called "Miss ECO Philippines", "Miss Multinational" and "Reina Hispano Americana Filipinas". The ladies would need to work extra hard to earn these coveted titles as they will get the chance to represent the country in Alexandria, Egypt (for Miss Eco International 2018), India (December 2017) and Santa Cruz, Bolivia (for Reina Hispano Americana) this November 2017. I can assure you this will be BIGGER and BETTER in more ways than one and will showcase the best in our nation. With your help, we can fond another Filipina beauty that can surpass Megan Youngs win. As mentioned in the presscon, the Miss World Philippines 2017 staging is going to be more "fast paced" albeit shorter production. They promise a refreshing presentation, as MWP General Manager Bessie Besana says "I am thankful to have been given an opportunity to work with the Miss World Philippines Organization. We promise to bring a well made, timely, stylish aesthetic program catered to the millenial generation. We will be making Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center as our beneficiary so we could help with the care and rehab of their indigent patients, this is the core of our cause."

Miss World Philippines will also be revealing a new crown designed by no less than Miss World 2013 Megan Young. They will be broadcasting and doing the pageant night on September 3, 2017. Congratulations Miss World 2013 Megan Lynne Young!

I'd like to take this bit and congratulate Megan Young for winning the Miss World beauty pageant which was held in Bali, Indonesia. You made the whole Philippines proud! 

Solaire Resort and Casino was also the official residence of the Miss World Philippines pageant held this year. She also won a special award as Ms. Solaire Resort and Casino during that night as part of the other 9 awards given to her. They already knew she was bound for greatness!

Mr. Donato Almeda who is the current Board of Director for Solaire Resort and Casino has this to say after that momentous win;

"On behalf of the management and staff of Solaire, I extend my heartfelt congratulations. At the Miss World Philippines coronation we knew you would be the strongest contender yet. We are very excited over your win. And we are honored that Solaire was the home of the Miss World Philippines pageant for this year."

From me and the management of Solaire Resort and Casino, thank you for everything that you've done for the country Megan! We can't wait for your return to the Philippines! You truly are one blessed girl because you showed the world that you are genuinely good inside and out!

Janina San Miguel RP's bet to Ms. World 2008 Quits!

Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc announced this morning that Ms. Janina San Miguel resigned as official representative to Ms. World 2008 says Belle Baldoza, PR officer of the Aranetas.

I remember her uncanny answer the final question asked to her by judges of the said pageant...



"Well, my family’s role for me is so important b’coz there was the wa- they’re, they was the one who’s… very… Hahahaha… Oh I’m so sorry, Ahhmm… My pamily… My family… Oh my god… I’m… Ok, I’m so sorry… I… I told you that I’m so confident… Eto, Ahhmm, Wait… Hahahaha, Ahmmm, Sorry guys because this was really my first pageant ever b’coz I’m only 17 years old and ahahaha I, I did not expect that I came from, I came from one of the tough 10. Hmmm, so… but I said dot my family is the most important persons in my life. Thank you."

This launched nationwide/worldwide ridicule over her. People started to get amused over it making remixes even for several clubs all over the metro. 1st Runner-Up Danielle Castaño (a sport young lady) will replace Ms. San Miguel as the official Philippine representative to the Ms. World 2008 pageant.

The untimely demise of her grandfather, among other personal reasons, has caused her undue stress, thus hindering her from fulfilling her duties for the said title. I was waiting for her to represent the country and see how she fares. Things really got out of hand I think. I just wish her the best.
