What You Need Delivered Late at Night with foodpanda

Thursday, November 07, 2024

What time is it? A few hours from 10pm? Nobody is going to cook for you, what a bummer! But don't fret! There's always foodpanda, and what better way to start to satisfy your late night cravings with good food from the folks that are still open during these hours!

Uncle John's has Cheesy Beef Empanadas, this is if you think a 2 piece Fried Chicken from the same place is actually too heavy. The Cheesy Beef Empanadas would be enough for a quick bite, but make sure they heat it up in the microwave before you get a bite, it's better when it's hot.

KFC has 10 piece Bucket and a Bucket of Fries. I'm also a Hot and Crispy kind of guy so if you're in the mood for more protein, I'd do that. Make sure you ask for Ketchup and hot gravy because who doesn't want that over hot white rice. I'm hungry just thinking about it!

Pizza Hut has Fivepair 8, which are wraps that's ultra cheesy. Don't forget the hot sauce because who doesn't want a spicy kick in every bite of that cheesy slice you've been wanting all day.

Pickup Coffee has Iced Kape Kastila and a box of 6 donuts. Because Coffee is life, you can have it with your favorite fluffy and wonderfully sweet donuts which you can also blitz a few seconds in the microwave. It's something that can perk you up when it's still your workhours, yes it's possible!

If you're looking for groceries, my pandamart branch is open when I need it, but if in case they're closed, there's always 7-Eleven, Watsons, or AllDay Supermarket. Best of all, you can use the code PASKONA as your voucher so you can get a lot off the original price or delivery rates, because they absolutely can! If you want more of this ideas, make sure you're following foodpanda on all their channels (and download the app!) or their website foodpanda.ph to know more about it!

Differently Executed: John Woo's SILENT NIGHT in PH Theaters on the 29th

Sunday, November 26, 2023

Nathan Studios has a gem up their sleeve with this new PH released John Woo movie called Silent Night. It's an action packed film, created quite differently than usual ones because of how it's made, as it's suggests, it's all silent.  John Woo gleefully placed his different action ballet shots, that will surely be loved by action fans in the Philippines, and worldwide. I'm sure your Dad, Tito, Kuya would need a break from the usual romcom in cinemas and give this a few hours to watch with the whole family.

You'll be amazed at how this story of a man out for vengeance for his child will be told. Right at the start, the story gives you the feeling that it has heart. The usual suburb Mom and Dad playing in the yard with their son. Yes, the scenes always had family involved. Gang wars erupt, and one gets hit in the crossfire. He starts his long grueling time to recover, train and realize what he's up against. You'll feel the agony on screen in the first few minutes. With his wife also worried about him, he suffered further and became a drunkard staring mostly on what his son had left in his room, the memories and pain he felt was just insurmountable. This caused a rift with his wife, and everyone else in his life. He took off and sought the gang members one by one, and doesn't hold back.

If you're a gamer, the events in this movie reminds me so much of GTA5. It's got firepower, the goons, the gangs, and the fun starts with a huge car chase in the streets. Think of it as your dream sequence where you hold the armaments, where you think of gruesome ways to eliminate the bad guys til the end of the movie. The drama was quite minimal, aimed to only solidify the story's plot and wouldn't ruin the action scenes that John Woo wanted you to see from the very beginning, I'd say this is a showcase of his genius.

If your thirsty for action, make sure to make this part of your movie watching session on the 29th. Yes there are a couple of movies coming out on that date, but if you have the time, you SHOULD see this. After all, it's been a while since the last time John Woo released a film. Thanks to Nathan Studios, you've got the chance to watch it in the Philippines. Actually, they have a few more lined up in the pipeline and each of them are quite different theme wise. It's quite a refreshing thing to see that we have choices in the cinemas now. I can't wait to see the other films that Nathan Studios still have for next year!

JOHN WOO Flick "SILENT NIGHT" in Philippine Theaters November 29

Saturday, November 18, 2023

If you're raring to watch an action packed film these holidays, look no further as legendary award winning director JOHN WOO and Joel Kinnaman take you on a gripping film called "SILENT NIGHT". He adds this to hit films like Face Off, Hard Target, Mission Impossible 2, Paycheck, Reign of Assassins and Manhunt among others that he made in a span of 55 years in film. This will be in theaters come November 29 in the Philippines.

Silent Night is sort of a comeback for the director after his last one in Hollywood in 2017. He also is collaborating with Basil Iwanyk who produced Expandables and John Wick among others.

Joel Kinnaman on the other hand has been doing Netflix series House of Cards, Robocop, Suicide Squad. In this film, he's playing a father looking for justice because his son got caught in the crossfire of gangs over the holidays.

Sad for years, he went through rigorous training to find revenge with the same gang, so imagine the bullet ballet John Woo had to execute with that premise alone. Aside from Joel Kinnaman, cast includes Scott Mescudi, and a throng of character actors that will make this action packed film as intense or even better than his previous masterpieces.

John Woo is certainly a visionary, and this film was brought to the Philippines via Nathan Studios and 888 Films International. There will be more in the coming months for sure, but together with their recent hit series Cattleya Killer and Topakk, there will be no moviegoer that will say they're shortchanged when they go to cinemas. Follow Nathan Studios social channels for more updates about the film!

Self Expression and Self Care with the Vivo Y31

Tuesday, March 23, 2021

Still locked down, with different terms used, but still the same potato. I'm sure just like me, you are stuck at home trying to make ends meet, trying to make sense of it all. These days, if you don't have anything to keep you sane, it'll be doubly hard to survive. These days, people look for outlets for self expression, the arts, to also preserve memories so you can reminisce on it later on. It's pretty tough not to have that with mental health, so we have to do what we can to take our mind off things, or maybe a little entertainment.

Photography, or making video content these days have now become easier with the eve of smartphones that can take even better shots sometimes than professional cameras. It's more powerful, you can even use the same phone to edit it and share the experience with family and friends at a flick of a button. The peeps from vivo didn't only donate stuff and PPE for front liners during this pandemic, they realized the importance of elevating the smartphone experience and did several campaigns over the years that would do just that for Filipinos and the rest of the world.

For the vivo v19 phones they did the Ignite Your Night campaign to show users how they can take advantage of the night photography and gaming capabilities of their phones. Aside from that, they also did one for the v20 series called Be The Focus to showcase the selfie camera capabilities of the phone. This 2021 they are getting you involved in "ALL DAY FUN" with the Y31 which is a budget phone but last so long because of its 5000mAh battery. Photos, videos, gaming, it can do all that without costing too much plus you get a chance to pursue enjoyable hobbies, that would make you happy, which is way better for your mind too.

Who would have known doing several campaigns would result to that right? It's a good thing. If you want to know more about the vivo Y31, you may check out information on https://www.facebook.com/vivo.philippines or their website https://www.vivoglobal.ph/. If you want to get one, they have their official stores on Shopee and Lazada, you'll get good deals there too!

A Zoobic Night Safari this Holiday Break

Saturday, December 30, 2017

Oh no, don’t let this long holiday break end without doing something special like this one at Zoobic Night Safari. This thing happens at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone Group 1, Ilanin Forest at the Subic Freeport Zone and will only last until January 6. You won’t see it until March so that’s a long time if you actually miss it. This would be a great opportunity for your kids or lovers to get up close and personal with the cute zoo animals under the dark cold sky.

You’ll be entertained by world class Filipinos and escorted through a night scaped jungle while being guided by kind greyhounds. You’ll see snakes, iguanas, lizards of all kinds in the Serpentarium. You’ll also get to pet some of them through a trail and see how they move while living through the night as some of these guys are nocturnal, including Tigers in their own habitat!

You’ll also see lions, crocodiles, birds and other animals while they go about their everyday chores, not usually seen in the Zoo during daytime. You will also be treated to a world class show, cast of Filipinos so you get a dose of culture even if you’re in a predatory mood.

Entrance fees only costs Php 895 for adults, Php 795 for kids 3-4 ft. It already includes dinner, but if you opt not to have food just get 100 off of that price. If you are bringing some kids shorter than that, they get in for FREE. Now isn’t that a nice deal?

JACK TV's Night Crawlers

Saturday, October 28, 2017

I've seen this happen last year and got so envious with the people who did it... when I received an email inviting me this year, let's just say I was giddy to actually be part of it. JACK TV, one of my favorite cable channels showing some of my favorite cartoons and programs has been doing these events for quite some time now. In partnership with San Miguel Oktoberfest, we've been tasked to do JACK TV Night Crawlers. It's a pub crawl of some sort but a tad different because we're going to scour the favorite watering holes in Bonifacio Global City. It was traffic, but I braved all that and found myself lost at BGC's Burgos Circle which was the only location indicated on the invite. It became doubly hard to find the starting point because as soon as I walked around that area, it started to rain like hell hath no fury. I came alone and arrived at BUGSY's near that circle and found myself in the midst of millennial bloggers and about a handful of their Facebook contest winners, so it was quite awkward to note that I was joining a bunch of guys and gals whom I didn't know. I guess, just like the other pub crawls where you would generally have to turn strangers into friends. :)

At BUGSY's we were treated by the JACK TV team with quick mind games, asking about their shows like our life depended on it. The other team racked in points, although some of my team mates also answered really tough ones so it was quite okay even if they took this round. I bet my team mates are going to have the next ones.

We transferred to RUE BOURBON and the rain didn't let out. We stopped here and waited a bit thinking that it would eventually stop, but did the necessary things a pub crawl should have... and that's beer. Out of the local beers in the market, my preferred bottle is an ice cold San Miguel Super Dry. Always have, always will be. Oh and Rue Bourbon had those fancy nacho chips in different colors, which were quite good actually especially for beer match.

Albeit a little drizzle was trying to stop us from enjoying the evening, we got to DWNTOWN HALDSTED next. That place was almost full to the brim when we got there. There were expats, treating themselves to really good bar chow. They've got real good cocktails also going on at the bar. We had take over the whole front and play some games again. Of course as expected, our team won this round. They have very good food there as I mentioned earlier, so what better way to celebrate but by having a small dinner there.

They had a pretty good spread. From well decorated NACHOS, the SALTED EGG CALAMARES (do I need to convince you? LOL), and the CRISPY PATA (fried pork trotters). Oh and there's more! To know who would win the pub crawl matches, we went to RELIK which was a couple blocks away from our last restaurant. We had to ride the JACK TV trucks to get there.

To win in the final game, we had to use a contraption that had a ring on it. We had to drink a mug of draft beer first though which made us a little woozy. I'm so glad I listened to my team mates Brent, his Dad and his family. I mean who would have known that the ones who won the Facebook contest were actually relatives, that's how far I got to the conversation. It was nice to actually nice to know how they were enjoying the whole thing, I loved how I connected with them quite well because it was like they were cool with anything. They had interesting stories in between bottles, and now they're my Facebook friends. :) This was the part where I enjoyed it most. RELIK Restaurant and Bar played music during my heydays and the people on my table were all singing the same tune. We were like kindred spirits... we were a little drunk but hey, we WON! It was just the right place and right time to have CHICKEN SKIN and BUFFALO WINGS! It was so good we had to have seconds. Thank you so much to ZOMATO and JACK TV for having us in this JACK TV Night Crawl!

Thanks to you I now have new friends, I had had so much fun too that evening. I hope I get invited in the next ones because I heard they are planning a lot of events in the future! Thanks again JACK TV!

If you want to experience the same things I did, head on over to the JACK TV Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/solar.jacktv/ and their official website www.jacktv.ph.

Sandara Park, Thunder, Grace Lee, Sam YG Stars On One Night Food TripInternational Edition on tvN Asia

Tuesday, September 26, 2017

I heard about tvN a couple days ago through the event of iFlix which gave me the idea that this Korean TV corporation isn't playing around as they've got serious TV and series titles on their belt to release Asia wide. Tonight, we had a glimpse of their upcoming original production of One Night Food Trip International Edition which partakes Korean stars and mix them with local ones in different countries to do three things, EAT, PLAY and COMPETE!

Now that might look so easy to do but believe me there willbe trials in between that they need to do in order to win. It will involve mostly local food (in whatever country they are in), culture (as they will deal with people), attractions (to find the best spots in each country) and everything local! When they accomplish each mission, they'll get a chop on their ONE NIGHT FOOD TRIP PASSPORT. Whoever gets the most chops will get the GOLDEN PASSPORT exclusive for the big winner.

You'll see different stars in different countries like Jung Jun-young, Cho Sae-ho, Hsu Chia-yang and Waa Wei for Taiwan, Nakjoon Park, Eric Nam and He Ying-ying for Singapore, Hong Suk-chun, Cho Sae-ho and Lee Ki-chan for Malaysia, Sandara Park, Thunder, Grace Lee and Sam YG for the Philippines.

"The Philippines is one of the most beautiful places in the world, we have unique flavors and you will be surprised how interesting our food will be. It was educational for me and would be a good thing to see on TVN. Sam is so funny, you can't really eat because his humor is very on point, can't really laugh when your mouth is full. My memory of meeting Davaoenos was just so good, they were all so nice!" -Grace Lee

"Grace always wanted to travel with me, but I didn't have load. Now we have a reason to travel, not just a company thing, this is both work and pleasure to showcase how nice the country is, to find the spots and show it to the world. Durian was my wild enemy, I don't know how to eat it but Grace could eat it all! I had nightmares after that. What made it memorable is jumping from one place to another. Shoutout to kimchi and curry team, it was all worthwhile." -Sam YG

"I was taller before, I used to carry him when we were younger, now he's taller than me. We got to see Manila and Palawan in a different light because it's Thunder's first time there. We had to strategize because we didn't eat too much, had to dance several times just to get stamps. When we went to the crocodile farm, we had to eat Crocodile sisig, and I couldn't it was just not the time!" - Sandara Park

"I didn't travel when I was in the Philippines and this was a nice opportunity to connect with my sister and see the other places I wasn't able to go to when I studied here. Our stomach also had limited space so we had to also play just to see who would have to finish the plate. It was also hard to eat the local tamilok, but we couldn't do that." -Thunder

One Night Food Trip International Edition will premier on October 10 and every Tuesday thereafter. The Philippine feature will happen on December 5 at 11pm. Follow their social media accounts @ch.tvnasia on FB, @tvn.asia on IG and @tvN_Asia on Twitter. Go watch them on Cignal and Skycable as they're available there too!

Buddha Bar Marks 5th Year in the Philippines

Sunday, February 05, 2017

It's been a while since I've been here. I've done a lot of events in nice places and Buddha Bar is definitely up there. The world class interiors, pretty good entertainment, the best cocktails and awesome food choices makes them one of the best in the Philippines, even the world!

They just marked their 5th year in the business and celebrated in a grand way via a "Cabaret Night" a few nights ago. I was so glad to be part of it and witnessed a full with a trio of ladies who'll make world class performers a run for their money, plus several Cancan Dancers to complete the show. I was here during their grand opening and several events after that but they've kept the place quite nice since I've last seen it.

On this photo are executives Carlos Matta - President and CEO of Buddha-Bar Group, Nabil Souhail the Vice-President for Business Development and Operations of Buddha-Bar Group, Ambassador Amable R. Aguiluz V - Chairman of AMA Group of Companies and Buddha-Bar Manila, Tarja Visan - Co-Founder of Buddha-Bar Group and Angelito Agustin - Head of Operations of Buddha-Bar Manila.

Congratulations in your 5th year in the business and we all wish Buddha Bar Manila more success in the coming years!

Cheers!
