Celebrating Women's Month with Mary Rose Marbil: A Story of Love, Compassion, Family and Service
Monday, March 03, 2025
She was all smiles when she went in. Donned in a white crisp top, hair tucked back and a presence I couldn't put to words. She has this presence signifying power, poise, posture that make known strictness. But once she uttered words, it felt like we were welcomed home, like no strangers... getting a warm hug.
She's the beautiful Ms. Mary Rose Marbil, loving wife to PNP Chief Rommel Francisco Marbil and caring mother to recently engaged Robyn Marie Marbil. She's also the PNP OLC Foundation, Inc. (previously Officer's Ladies Club) Adviser, an honor she doesn't treat as an obligation, but an opportunity to help through charitable causes, now geared to help PNP Personnel and their families. This is also something that she is passionate about.

This strong disposition must have come from somewhere, so I asked about who she gets the inspiration from. She immediately answered her Mom. She says "The woman who made a big impact is my Mom. Not just because she is my Mom, but because of how she is, and how she handled things. She's always objective about things. When we got married, we stayed with her for 3 years. She didn't want me to stay in PSG quarters because there would be a lot of chismis there. It might have been difficult to have 2 queens in one castle, but it wasn't with her. If there are conflicts, she never asked why, but just be present and be there for me. Even with the siblings, she's the most level headed. That's my Mom."
With the PNP OLC Foundation, Inc., she was involved in spearheading their ongoing project called LAB Virus (which they coined from Love and Blessings). She usually goes with the PNP Chief in various locations in the country but didn't participate much in efforts. With the project, she was able to start helping PNP personnel and their beneficiaries. With the foundation, she didn't have to wait for a regional visit to help people. It also rarely happens, and this was able to put them in a more pro-active state.
The foundation sought help from health services to identify over 500 individuals that are critically ill. This was a huge number, even the Chief PNP was surprised. Much of them were suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease and needs lengthy dialysis treatments in their respective regions. They provided them needed financial assistance that would help for medical bills and for their daily spend.
While it was a huge help, they wanted their actions to also be more sustainable. One of the regional leaders in Cebu was teaching life skills in making soap. It's a business they could easily teach PNP personnel and their beneficiaries, so they could fend for themselves, and put food on the table after getting help from the PNP OLC Foundation, Inc. Very soon, they will also be teaching and giving away business kits to street sweepers in Camp Crame. They are excited to do this in Manila/Laguna too.
Here's our interview with Ms. Mary Rose a few days ago:
Spreading love with every touch, the PNP OLC Foundation, Inc. is continuously going around regions including BARMM. With help from private individuals who signified support through their organization, they would be able to lend a hand to more people especially PNP personnel and their families.
Recently, they also had a concert with singing PNP personnel to raise funds for the foundation. They also get help from individuals, other foundations (and the public) so they could come to the aid of more people in times of need. Her experience in the corporate world has helped her organize a structured operation to cater the underprivileged. They now have officers that will be able to continue efforts and ensure it would be addressed after her term. This is such a selfless and noble task, but she finds insurmountable fulfillment doing this.
Her message to women out there, "There's always something you can do. You're not just a wife, let's not limit ourselves to what people think you can do. We are limitless, especially as women. It shouldn't be a hindrance, I even think there's more power in that. We have our charm, use it to move and make things happen. With our talents, we can use it for the welfare of the people around us. Do what you need to do!" Her story of love, compassion, her family and the service the foundation does for others is so inspiring.
Thank you for sharing your time Ms. Rose, it was certainly a pleasure getting to know you!
No More POWER Worries with the Infinix NOTE 40 Pro+ 5G
Wednesday, April 24, 2024
It's been a while since I've held a bowling ball, but I think I still got the hang of it. This goes the same with the Infinix Note 40 Pro+ 5G, a brand that's pretty well known for their GT gaming line (and official MLBB handset). Needless to say, these folks take the phone game seriously because they address things you need and still be innovative.
The Infinix Note 40 Pro+ 5G took only a few minutes to charge while we were playing. With its 100W Fast Charging (wired) and 20W Wireless Charging, you can use the phone for your professional or creative tasks even if you're in a jiffy. Best of all, it's not clunky and didn't have to sacrifice its "looks" because it's so sleek, professional looking and very pretty.
How fast you say? The Infinix Note 40 Pro+ 5G gets to 50 percent of power in just 8 minutes courtesy of its Hyper Mode. The device also has a low temp mode to make sure it stays cool even when it's too hot outside. If you prefer a balance between the two, Smart Mode is the answer so you don't have to sacrifice form or function.

They also had us get acquainted with their new brand ambassador, someone feisty, tough, gorgeous and sexy from any angle. She is actress and YouTube star Ivana Alawi... who just like their phones, looks good and full of energy.
These phones (4G) and the Infinix Note 40 Pro+ 5G will be launched today in online shopping platforms and their authorized kiosks (in malls and stores nationwide). If you want to know more about the phones, follow their official page and join their community on Facebook. Albeit my first time working with an Infinix phone, I really like this Infinix Note 40 series. It's classy, and won't make you worry about losing power when you are in the creative mood.
Manoeuvres, Streetboys, Universal Motion Dancers, Power People and Kidz@Work Headline "THE SIGN" 90's SUPERSHOW!
Thursday, April 11, 2024
As stellar as that list may sound, this concert is being done for the benefit of several dance groups that they are supporting. After holding a dance competition at the 1322 Bar and Lounge, WCQ Productions and Management noticed that some of the participants really needed help. Some had to travel far, slept outside, and didn't have a place to practice at all. It was heartbreaking to see them try to make ends meet.
Their passion is unquestionable, which is why they believe that providing opportunities for these dance groups would be the right thing to do. Proceeds of this dance concert will be given to them so they could have facilities, the skills to become better at their craft in order to nurture the next generation of dancers in the country. They were really emotional while telling us about the story.
Here's the press conference held at Farmers Plaza in Araneta City.
THE SIGN: 90's Supershow is directed by Kiko Cabarloc and Arnel Caranto. As discussed during the presser, they will have their groups perform individually. They also plan to do a dance number where everyone will be joining in. This is quite exciting especially for people who miss the times they went to clubs and discos. The competitive fan base of these different groups should definitely show up at the ALIW Theater as they promise to BRING IT on the dance floor.
Spencer Reyes will also be flying to the Philippines from the UK this coming April 13. That's a few days before the 26 play date. He's quite excited to see his brothers from Streetboys, and the other guys from the other dance groups.
Here's a short talk we had with him that afternoon.
If you wish to get tickets, please visit the Tickelo website at TICKELO: https://www.tickelo.com/the-sign-90s-supershow . If you want to support the show as a sponsor, you may message or call them via 09660696014 or their social channels. Just look for WildCat Queens Productions and Management Inc. on Facebook. They also encourage those who have talent in singing and dancing (especially the talented ones who need help) to get in touch with them online too.
This would not be possible without the help of their sponsors namely Wolfgang's Steakhouse, The Red Crab, 1322 Bar and Lounge, Wild Seafood atbp., Erjohn Almark Transit Corporation, Wildcat Queens Travel and Tours Limited, Mak Media, SG Vibes, Farmer’s Plaza, Tickelo, Wildcat Queens Recording Studio and Wild Knights Band. Again, if you want to be a part of this cause, and wish to enjoy music and dance of the 90's, make sure you take the trip to ALIW Theater in Pasay City and see THE SIGN: 90's Supershow!
KATRINA VELARDE Readies For "The Z-CON: The Gen Z Icons Concert"
Friday, March 22, 2024
The world class power belter Katrina
Velarde is going to make your April days even more awesome as she does
"KATRINA The Z-CON: The Gen Z Icons Concert" to be held on April 13, 8pm at the Samsung Performing
Arts Theater in Circuit Makati.
For
those asking why it's ZCon, it's because they want to cater to Gen Z's
who's supporting her today. She's been very hands on, using her own team to
do arrangements, covers, even on YouTube. Although they cater to any music genre,
everyone will certainly relate to the music of the 90's and 2000's. She's going to do it with her own spin on things.
Talking to her a few days ago, Katrina feels the pressure (mounting this concert) because it's been 4 years since she last had one. Though she admits, she likes this pressure and anxiety. She asserts these are challenges that could further improve her skills.
Katrina says "I'm so happy that we're doing this to promote my concert, I've had the chance to do this in ASAP and Showtime, and it's been a while since I've had one. It's like my body is looking for it, this is a big production and I'm happy to work with JM Yosures, Reiven Umali, Khimo Gumatay and Sam Mangubat. My reach has always been with Gen Z's and I've prepared a lot for this one."
She adds "It's not just going to be with Gen Z's though because I want people to relate with music from the 90's and 2000's, but we're doing it with a different flavor. I'm eager to do this all, coming from the pandemic days, we wanted to have more mediums of entertainment. I realized when the pandemic happened people still wanted to see us for entertainment, and now that we're back, I'm happy."
Imagine if she wasn't around during the pandemic, we all would have been in a rut. A lot of people listened to her songs during her live streams. Truly, it was a place to be thankful during those times because as singers, they rose to the occasion and gave us the needed entertainment we craved for at home.
Like so many singers, she's inspired by the one and only Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez. When they performed in previous shows, she froze and just looks at her. It's so nice to see that her dreams did come true. To be able to work with her inspiration, she must have been ecstatic. Here's more of what happened at the press conference for the "KATRINA The Z-CON: The Gen Z Icons Concert"
On this part 2, she had our jaws drop with a few songs she sang a capella
She's very down to earth, and has already impressed a lot of people with her covers, original songs and this concert would definitely be a nice avenue to see how she's come a long way. Tickets are sold via Ticketworld so secure them now. This is produced by AQUEOUS ENTERTAINMENT and ABBA Productions.

ANNE CURTIS, JANE DE LEON Headline Powerful Campaign with Smart
Tuesday, August 16, 2022
This afternoon was a powerful one as Smart took us on us on a ride on what it feels like if you've got The Power of Smart.
One thing to say is that they were really ecstatic by winning the Best Mobile Network Award they got from Ookla. This is the first time the company is giving an award like that and Smart is maknig history. This also happened after Smart got Fastest Mobile Network and Best Mobile Coverage in the first two quarters so they're also giving Filipinos some powerful treat.
Headlining their campaign the Power of Smart, are two industry heroines and actresses Anne Curtis and this generation's Darna Jane De Leon. Anne by the way has been a loyal Smart subscriber and ambassador for a little over 10 years now and Jane on the other hand is just starting big especially as ratings this evening with Darna was unbelievable! Both women are iconic and surely, showing us how to work on our dreams and achieving it. Jane is changing her life as we speak and she's quite happy to be part of the Smart family because she says "It empowers me to do what I want!".
Smart also showed how Filipinos are now enjoying 5G speeds in different
areas in the country to not only consume data, but create photos,
videos, content that could be enjoyed by family, friends, and the
public. Smart promises to work on faster speeds, so you their
subscribers would be able to accomplish more especially at these times.
I've been using my smart line for years now and it has accompanied me in
different places in the country. I see the immense improvement even on
the islands, imagine what you could do with videos, music, or games if
you can play anywhere without a hitch!
Congratulations to Smart, to Anne Curtis and Jane De Leon who's now making their powerful moves. Here's wishing everyone does too!
If you're not with Smart, make the powerful move by changing your number here https://smart.com.ph/Pages/mobilenumberportability
Huawei Philippines Participates in CEPSI 2021: Pushing Greener Solutions in Power Production and Management
Friday, November 05, 2021
Tech giant Huawei Philippines just recently announced their participation in CEPSI 2021 which is the Conference of the Electricity Power Supply Industry which happened yesterday. It aims to bring action in sustainable power production in the region and encourages social inclusiveness for their efforts. In the event, Huawei Philippines VP and CMO of Huawei Digital Power Dr. Fang Luangzhou shared information about how the company is moving for low carbon and smart societ using digital ways.
Over 44 countries have already joined the global mission of being carbon neutral. They believe this is what's going to happen in the coming decades which includes those who produce power, consume and even industries that would want to upgrade their hardware. It's going to be beneficial not just for the entities, but the world if we get involved in their mission of being carbon neutral. They identified it to come from Electricity production, manufacturing and transportation. Getting transportation to use electric power and produced it in low carbon emitting ways would be good for the earth. It will also lessen costs in the long run which will benefit more industries who depend on these old power producing systems. They suggest off grid solutions like those who utilize sun or wind to make them. They also have green ways to manage them, it will make their research (10 years and over 90 Billion spent for it) even better as it will be utilized by the greater public. Huawei looks forward to have a greener future.
We can't wait to see what's going to happen in the next few years!
The Truth About Unsolicited Proposals
Tuesday, October 26, 2021
How's your electricity bill these days? Still high? Ever felt the need to see that bill low? Properly managed? I'm sure you do. Well, I've stumbled across something that may interest you since we're all consumers.
National Coordinator for Kuryente.org Nic Satur Jr. says "The unsolicited proposal will hinder competition, and provide corruption, bring misinformation in the bidding process. This was created for consumers to get the lowest cost. We'll now have a bidding under the mercy of power producers, remember, our bill has almost half of its cost from generation. The existing process makes it allow everyone to bid, and the unsolicited proposal can be done with terms for reference which will be made by the power producer themselves. Unsolicited Proposal is currently used in other projects, and to bring more players and technologies, they wanted to push for this. It is legal, but not needed, it will bring us back to a time where they get non-negotiated deals. If I am the power producer, I will just fix terms and challenge it with the price I want to win and disqualify other power producers. We're not saying this will lead to corruption, but if not done right, it will. At present, the Philippines is not ready for it, nor does it need it. The House Resolution 1874 should be discussed, to create implementing rules and regulation as its present form is very prone to sweetheart deals that would be detrimental to the consumer. The Filipino consumer will suffer."
Kuryente.org was created for energy consumer welfare and Amin or Anak Mindanao Partylist just issued a joint statement together with stakeholders, consumers and media entities aware of this:
Amihilda Sangcopan says "I join you today not just as a legislator but a member of electric power consumers. Amin has filed House Resolution 1874 to conduct investigation into DOE, to reconsider to amend its policy on competitive selection process in the power supply, entertaining unsolicited proposals that will breed unfair competition. It will hinder access to affordable electricity guaranteed by our constitution Article 12."
Ricky Juab, Mindanao based consumer adds "The situation of Misamis Oriental is really hard especially for electric cooperatives even now during the pandemic. We consumers wish that every policy that the government does, our side would be heard. We are suffering in Misamis Oriental, where our cooperative has failed to give supply electricity and we experience blackouts, most of which are fluctuating, breaking most of our household appliances... everyday we have been experiencing it, until now. Even informed, we still are experiencing power outages, but still getting the same bill. We sometimes get double, this happens with other consumers in Mindanao. DOE wants Unsolicited Proposal, which will disable most of our safeguards. It is prone to corruption, to follow their terms and conditions. Prices will get worse, so we consumers implore DOE to stop it. This is inhumane and improper."
Parent Mel Salda gave her thoughts and say "The pandemic pushed us all to work remotely. Working as a Virtual Assistant, it has increased our energy consumption, increased cost of living. DOE should ease our burden instead of adding to it. Unsolicited Proposal is going to get us to pay for an even higher price for electricity in Asia. This would be a burden to single parents like me."
