Robin Padilla Does BATO: The General Ronald Dela Rosa Story

Robin Padilla is doing the movie Bato The General Ronald Dela Rosa Story. This is also Directed by Adolfo Alix Jr. and produced by ALV Films, Benchingko Films (Bench) and distributed by Regal Films.

Robin Padilla says “I have portrayed other police personnel but not as much of a hero like General. I am a tougher, bigger police, action films now have different executions. In the past we only had 3 months to make a film, but now pre prod takes that same amount of time. We now have Hollywood level things in the Philippines and it’s a different message in this story, people who worked hard, followed the law to get where they are. He is also a family man. There are a lot of things I had to learn, as General is a sharpshooter. Holding it the right way, trained, different from criminals and you would see that on screen. It is very difficult not to give in to scenes, as General is a loving husband. This role came to me in a long way, it went to Senator Manny Pacquiao, I got invited to a basketball event and I asked him to do the General Bato story, we went to Viva, Star Cinema, months passed and it didn’t bear fruit. I was kidnapped by ALV and brought to Shangrila, I was surprised because they fixed things but I had to finish BOL duties first, then we got to talk personally about it, with General there, we got to rap up, finish things, shoot and now we are here.”

Beauty Gonzales says “I just got notes from my director and I find their love story very cute, lahi ug under kag masunurin. Though I haven’t met the real wife, I could tell how they’re very grounded as a couple.”

General Bato Dela Rosa says “I couldn’t believe Robin was going to play me in the film, it was unexpected, but they helped, this is a dream for him to portray me. It was from bad boy to this god fearing man and leader, he to me is a good example for the youth and he is my idol. One thing I could tell was a hurdle was going about firing people in my own turf, the PNP. People will know what I’ve been through as a person, I wish to revive or to regenerate hope, love, faith in all the hearts of people so they too would have hope in life. Robin is one of the greatest actors in the Philippines, he read the story line and talked to me and I didn’t know he was already researching. When I saw the trailer I found my self in him. If he’s in the police force he would be good in intelligence because he knows how to research, I didn’t give any extra. I have done a lot of hard things, spent times to sometimes kill in hostage situations and I have to do it. You wouldn’t be able to shake it off your mind sometimes where I think PTSD is needed sometimes. Those are lives too and if you think too much of it you’ll go crazy, you just have to ask God for help just to help more i innocent people. Davao is different from Manila, in Davao you feel the support of the local government, in Manila it’s a bit of a mix, even the media, there is some sense of ownership in law and order so it is a better situation there. I have served almost 36 years there, I hope it doesn’t show. When I graduated in PMA, graduated on top of class, I was like Tarzan, I could lift heavy things, I could swim for hours, it’s why they called me Bato. I was also born in Bato Sta Cruz and it just carried on. Just in case I win I would like to be part of committees that have to do with law and order. I want to have tougher laws on drug traffickers, death penalty, hope I could do that in order to save people. General Lacson was my boss back then, I will consult with him too. I am a General and I admit there are a lot of women who approach me but my wife always catches it, it is difficult to fight a tougher wife trust me so I always refer them to my wife if they send text messages.”

This is rated PG according to MTRCB. This movie will show January 30, 2019.

Jodi, Robin, Richard in New Afternoon Show Before Showtime

Leo, Martin, Mona and Lisa. These are just names to you now but as soon as it airs on ABSCBN this coming Monday, you’ll love each of their characters as portrayed by Robin Padilla, Richard Yap and Jodi Sta. Maria. This is called SANA DALAWA ANG PUSO (I wish I had 2 hearts) and will be the afternoon offering right before Showtime on the kapamilya channel.

Robin plays Leo, a man who takes odd jobs for a living. Although poor, falls madly in love with rich beauty diva Lisa of the Loriano Group of Companies (played by Jodi)... who was in a supposed arranged marriage with Martin Co who later finds himself a poor barrio girl who looks exactly like Lisa but is named Mona, a chicken farmer. Will their lives intertwine? Will love be good for these four people? How are they related? You have to watch the first episode tomorrow on ABSCBN.

Jodi says “I am personally very excited to see this, this is fun, you’ll learn a lot of things, sometimes very romantic and I hope you get to watch it. The postponement had nothing to do with Robin but our creative team had to do revisions with the script and characters. We were not ready yet last August but this is good now. There will be 4 characters tomorrow and I believe they will be in love with Martin and Leo, you can’t compare then because they have different stories that should be appreciated by people.”

Richard Yap adds “We have been gone for a while but I hope people would go back to this time slot, hopefully the same people who watched us will get to see us again. My character is different now, I had to reinvent myself to be this character, I have long lines and I should have asked something like a man of few words like Robin.”

Robin says “To belong here is really but an honor for me, I am a fan of their show in the past and now I’m with them in the series. ABSCBN was a bit behind schedule and our schedules got mixed up between this and a movie we tried to make in between. They are bringing in a show about love, so it’s light and very Filipino. It was just a matter of timing I guess. My two movies were postponed (by Vidanes) and we did this instead. I asked ABSCBN to just make my character to be as close as possible with me, they agreed.”

The show also stars Christopher De Leon, Bobot Mortiz, Alma Moreno, Nikki Valdez, Bayani Agbayani, Ryan Bang, Ylona Garcia, Buboy Garrovillo, Kitkat Favia, and a whole lot more. Again it starts tomorrow January 29 after showtime!

Robin and Rommel Padilla, Bb Gandanghari Stars in 2 1/2 Daddies

Robin Padilla, Bb Gandanghari and Rommel Padilla stars in 2 1/2 Daddies

They've just made a dream come true. Robin Padilla, Bb. Gandanghari and Rommel Padilla just started a show on TV5 called "2 1/2 Daddies". It premiered last January 24 and I've seen a lot of people loved it. The chemistry was unquestionable as these brothers (and sister!) got to work again on a TV show after their stint in Mistah which starred much of the Padilla clan. The premise, they've all got a little baby in the house (a foundling) and they've got to take good care of her. With Robin (who plays the tough guy), Rommel (who plays the role of a smooth talking "the ladies man") and Bb (who's the lone trans woman), this would definitely be a very difficult place to start a family.

Robin Padilla says "This is one of the things we thought about when the Bb Gandanghari came out. Will this be a blessing? or is this just a fad? This is why Bb has so much responsibility, to show in the sitcom what reality is. LGBT exists, and it's a community. With her actions, I don't find anything wrong. We're wondering how her waistline looks really, because we find it too small. In one sequence, she just came out without bras and we had to stop her. I had to let Rommel do the talking because he's the older brother. I've also offered Bb a lot of projects but she's too expensive to work with, my production is still small but we did offer. We even asked for rights on films but Bb later on wanted her own Director so it got shelved.

This next project I'm doing by the way "Ang Tatay Kong Hoodlum" will be some sort of a comeback in action films and I'll be with Kylie on this one. That you have to find out. You have to watch this new show too, 2 1/2 Daddies is something that would reflect Filipino lives, you'll learn how to handle situations like these, because ultimately, it happens." 

The former Rustom Padilla revealed a lot during the press conference. Bb Gandanghari says 'When I was compared with Carmina Villaroel, I really laughed a lot about it. Tita Celia has alzeimers here and it was just a punchline. The creative group just picked it up because there are a lot of people who often compare Bb's looks with Carmina. But I didn't have any peg, I didn't even think about it. There must be a ton foreigners that I might have looked up to but not really this. As for Robin and Rommel's treatment, whatever they do with other women, they do it also to me. I really prefer them treating me normally which is what they are doing right now. I like that part a lot. I also would love to do a classic film, hopefully this would be a start to open new doors to make more action, more dramas. 

When I did PBB I wasn't able to come out in the public. During that show, I didn't even got to talk to anyone but only one person. It was Carmina (everyone gasped). Robin even got so mad he wanted to enter the house but they had to watch it... that happened exactly 9 years ago. Rustom and Carmina had closure during 2005, so I hope people would be fair to her. We helped each other during those times, she and I had so much things going through our lives. I had to run, and I thought I was Forrest Gump. When I left in 2002, I outed in LA late 2003/04 and when I got back here everyone was talking behind my back and it did hurt a bit to hear that. I didn't even talk to people in PBB, it wasn't planned at all, so for people thinking it was scripted, you're all wrong. The thought process was all inside, I was just looking for a sign and the Mariposa that arrived inside the home was just it. It wasn't a conspiracy, it was why I did a voluntary exit. It was just at the back of my head, a one time big time thing. I didn't want people to interrogate me, and it was the time to come out publicly." 

Rommel Padilla adds "All along I thought it was just a gimmick. I talked to Robin and it looked like we're hearing from people that it's true. It did hurt that we received texts, feedback from people about his sexuality. It was bitter sweet, because it was like losing a brother, but in the end he found himself.

I've also tried a lot of things in acting, this series will be a test on how I could do comedy and I hope everyone would find me funny (Robin and BB says he's got good timing cracking jokes). Rommel also adds no matter what your blood brother is, whatever his preference is, you just have to love him. You have to maintain the respect he deserves. This is why we're in good terms. This is why it works."

2 1/2 Daddies was a riot on its first day, please watch again this Saturday 7 PM on TV5! Don't fail to watch it!

The Padillas, Derek Ramsay and Empoy on New Shows in TV5!

The BIGGEST stars from the Kapatid Network all came forth and presented in what seems to be also the BIGGEST offering this first quarter. Imagine the names Robin Padilla, Rommel Padilla and BB Gandanghari in one fun, amusing, action comedy show that will make you laugh so hard this coming January 24. This Saturday, you must see "2 1/2 Daddies" and see what it's all about. Ms. Celia Rodriguez even dubbed this as the show that will end all shows because she's seen how the rapport of these Padilla siblings and their antics both on and off camera. They also showed some clips during the launch, and I must say, it's going to be very promising. How will the brusko Robin, the smooth talking Rommel and fashown Bb Gandanghari be if they become instant Fathers in this series? Well you've got to see it to believe it on Saturday. I'm telling you, you'll love it! 

Okay ladies, you can drool now! It's Derek Ramsay!

You can also start wiping your mouth, coz you're going to be seeing him and his twin brother. No it's not him!

Derek Ramsay will star on this show with good looking twin Empoy in a one of a kind, twist of fate, hit by lightning kind of comedy that will start on January 25, that's on Sunday. If you have any violent reactions on how Empoy ended up as Derek Ramsay's real twin brother in this series, you are hereby summoned to see it this weekend. They'll also be with the funny John Lapuz and the beautiful Bianca King. You must see how Empoy destroy or make the lives of his long lost brother happier with his antics in this modern sibling rivalry show. Who will end up wooing the girls? How will it make us realize that we're lucky to have the ones we have at home? You better watch Mac & Chiz or else, you'll be as good looking as Empoy this weekend. Oh boy you're going to be lucky if that happens!

The Padilla Clan Stars In "Sa Ngalan ng Ama, Ina, at mga Anak"

Relationships grow fonder when you get to spend time with family. The Padilla clan is a little different because this time it's not just in their homes but in this film that will surely become the talk of the town as they tackle the subject of the "Kuratong Baleleng Group" and portray them on Philippine cinema from a different perspective. See what I mean from "a little different"?

We were greeted by smiles from the Director John Villarin, RJ Padilla, Kylie Padilla (whom I've shot in Bench shows) and Mathew Padilla. Obviously, this is the second generation of Padilla's on this film and I think they did a pretty good job at it. John Villarin says he feels so honored that the family trusted him to make this film. Trust was probably an issue in the beginning and Direk Jon had to work his way into the lives of the Padillas. He spent days immersing himself in 2011 talking to the real life people that they were about to portray but figured the Padillas could attack the acting and scenes on their own. He also did a couple of days talking to the cast during workshops and throwing lines which made it a little bit easier filming.

Daniel Padilla arrived and said it was really fun doing this project because he got to spend time with his cousins which he treats more of a brother/sister in real life. I understood more of what he said in side stories from the people there because they apparently live in one house but sometimes they don't see each other that much because they have their respective things to do. You know how Daniel is busy whilst some of his cousins are working in other networks too. They feel it was tough for them because it is after all an action film. Direk Jon wanted to bring back the feel of what Robin Padilla used to do and get them in the mix. He mentions also that they did their own stunts and it wasn't easy.

They also mentioned that they originally wanted to include Bibi Gandanghari but she changed her mind the last minute because she'd had to revive Rustom Padilla to make that work. They understood her, more so the young ones. They love her just as much.

Direk also had some small stories about the action sequences in the forest (which you have to watch) because there was a time when they were all shooting guns at villains and Daniel was hit with a gun by his cousin Mathew. They laughed at it though. 

I find Kylie Padilla really gorgeous. Her smile brightens up any room and she's really articulate. She's probably the only lady that is doing action films right now in the Philippines. She also says she wants to do this seriously as she wants to really be much like Angelina Jolie. She was flattered when I told her that she is the Philippine version of the Hollywood star. She laments that she's been wanting to be in this genre since she idolizes Angelina Jolie. She's probably got no competition am I right?

Wish I had her as my leading lady when I make films. Seriously LOL!

 

Daniel says you'll probably see a different person when you see this film because it was made a long time ago. He was probably 16/17 when he made this and a little thin. He's proud of what work they put in on Sa Ngalan Ng Ama, Ina, at mga Anak because they literally had to make it with blood, sweat and tears. If you see that permanent scar on his forearm, it's because of a certain scene where he got it. You should watch out for that.

You know what I really think about these new guys? They've got a really bright future ahead of them. They're hungry and even contemplating of doing another one in the future. Working with the people you love and understanding each other is something that they've achieved in such a short while. It's the only film where you can see Robin Padilla who plays patriarch Ongkoy, Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla as Mom Indah, Kylie Padilla as Anna, Bela Padilla as Damian, Mathew Padilla as Aldong, RJ Padilla as Ardut, Daniel Padilla as Nato, Gideon Padilla as Dagul, Kathryn Bernardo as Sarah, Fa Mulan as Melissa, Kiray as Hannah, Rommel Padilla, Queenie Padilla and Royette Padilla all in one film. If that isn't enough reason to watch this, I don't know what will. This is produced by RCP Productions and Star Cinema.

MMFF Entry: 10,000 HOURS

24? Bourne Identity? Bourne Series? Nope, Robin Padilla wants it BIGGER.. So the title of this film is 10,000 HOURS. It stars Robin Padilla, Mylene Dizon, Carla Humphries, Michael De mesa, Cholo Barretto, Winwyn Marquez, Markki Stroem and Bela Padilla Directed by Bb. Joyce Bernal.

This is predicted as the biggest and most explosive MMFF entry slated to win all major awards - a feat claimed by many but proven by a few. It's a film in search for truth in a political society full of trials, corruption and death. Senator Gabriel Alcaraz who wanted to divulge everything started running around the world and find the right place and time to do it.

 

This is the comeback film of Robin Padilla and in the wings of Bb. Joyce Bernal.. This action film should spark an enthralling return of materials like these in Philippine cinema.  

Mylene Dizon plays the role of Ana Alcaraz who needed to be strong as her husband runs for his life and left to fend for her family. Michael De Mesa plays General Dante Cristobal who was assigned to look for Senator Gabriel Alcaraz - he was a principled man who once trained with the Gabriel and tackled this film with intelligence, filmed entirely in Amsterdam. This is a story with essence, it's something that's going to fight other film giants in MMFF.Though they have very young Producers, they are not afraid... they even see this is as an advantage. They are not afraid to gamble more so because they have the stars to pit against blockbuster giants this December 25th!

Will there be a Senator like him in the future? I don't know, but we can only hope there would be one soon. People, this one's a good film to watch and if it's not too much to ask please watch it. It is in some way based in the life of Senator Panfilo Lacson but tweaked a bit (I think) and you'll only get to see that in theaters this coming December 25th as part of the Metro Manil Film Festival!
