"Love Beneath The Stars" Shows on iWantTFC

Wednesday, August 11, 2021

We all adored the movie "The Boy Foretold by the Stars" and that thing moved me. It represented a whole lot of people, who are still capable of love and yes, I was so happy to see the characters of Keann Johnson and Adrian Lindayag develop something out of it.

The budding relationship of Dominc and Luke continues in the new sequel Love Beneath the Stars which is a digital series to be shown on the iWant platform. I had the pleasure of watching the first episode last August 9th. To tell you honestly, I had high expectations because I really loved the movie. I'm tough as a stone but I cried in several scenes (in the movie) and the series, took the role of filling in the gaps for content because if you're looking for details, this fills it up A LOT.

The class jock and endearing effeminate lover was surely going to rock the catholic school. Add to that the complexities of bigotry, the conservative ones, bullies and close minded peeps who will bring unwanted opinion on a relationship of two people. The series will also showcase a lot of things you didn't notice. You call yourself supportive, an ally, but it doesn't match with what you think, say or do. This evidently would encourage change, and I'm excited about the next episodes which will be shown on the same platform.

Here's part of the blog conference earlier this week. I didn't quite had the chance to ask questions because of time constraints and the amount of people that were equally excited about the show. So here you go, enjoy!

The series doesn't make you feel you burdened to change your beliefs, it just shows you what's happening around you and YOU have to decide what you need to do. Keann and Adrian seriously delivered in the acting department, and with a few scenes, you'll surely be hooked and feel for their characters.

Love Beneath the Stars is the kind of show that doesn't hit you with a ton of bricks, but slowly takes over your heart in several acts, finds that small glistening hope that you see beyond labels and prejudice, to see what it is... nothing but LOVE. If you want to watch it, download the iWant TFC app on android and iOS. Aside from that, you can also watch it on Android powered Smart TV's where it is compatible. Streaming will start on August 16. I'll surely watch the other episodes, I heard they're making this in 6 parts. This is written and directed by Dolly Dulu who also appears on the video above.

I hope this doesn't break out hearts.

JOAO and JAMESON for My Lockdown Romance

Monday, November 02, 2020

Today (this afternoon) we got to talk to Jameson Blake and Joao Constancia as they are doing a movie called My Lockdown Romance, a full blown Filipino BL film under Star Cinema.

Finding the right fit for the roles was gone through auditions, referrals, and the kind of characters are not well accepted by artists. When Jameson and Joao auditioned for it they were happy to take on the challenge. It is refreshing to see something lighthearted and hopeful, this will revitalize your gusto to live.

Direk Bobby says “It wouldn’t be easy, but we do have something different to offer. We took care of the format, it is connected to real life situations. From all walks of life. The actors had same cameras and we guided them through web conference. It is nice and cleanly made.”

Gab Pangilinan says “I am human, I do have moments when I had to be marupok. It happens to everyone. Gabb is not just a supportive friend, she tells it what it is, very straight to the point and it is an exciting character. I could say, she’s gonna say what Jameson’s character wouldn’t say. It is light, fun and happy.”

Jameson says “We were used to love teams and that kind of thing is the same, it was something new and I had so much fun experiencing it. I agree it was somewhat similar, I was always the one who had to make girls pakilig and being on the receiving end, that part was different. It’s been a while when I had a girlfriend, I’ll let you guys know if I already have one. I am happy that fans are happy to see me in a coming of age film and this is something similar so I am excited for them. This BL movie is lighter, they will see that. I don’t feel much pressure, but I’m hopeful for the outcome. I am more of the submissive character, I do have some traits similar to that, a more lighter personality.“

Joao says “I was super happy to work with him because we knew each other. We know what the stories about and what we were happy is that Direk Bobby was there to help us throughout. I am grateful it is a new experience for me and a new movie, so I’m just happy to just be here. To be honest there is no difference in pakiligs, love is love and the way you do it is the same. It was easy for both of us. I have had these moments, pero when I date, just sweetness, every wall falls down. I have read tweets, I am happy with what I’m reading. This is light, fun and super relatable. The setting is what is happening right now. We are more excited because everyone would be able to watch now at the comforts of their own home. You have to see the end scene, watch the whole film and you will understand what we are saying. I auditioned for this and my family were excited for me. I have had bromances, Jameson and I have had that, we care about each other and that’s what closest friends do.“

Currently, they don’t want to reveal if there is a kissing scene, maybe they’re really keeping that in the wraps. Their chemistry is undeniable, they look good together and perhaps, you’ll feel good seeing them on screen. This will be shown on November 13 at CineXpress channels at KTX.ph, iWantTFC (tfc.tv), IPTV, Cignal PPV and Sky Cable PPV.

You've got to see this!

The "Edsa Woolworth" Press Conference

Saturday, January 10, 2015

This 2015, Star Cinema and The Filipino Channel brings you EDSA Woolworth a film written by seasoned US based writer Noel Nuguit and directed by John D. Lazatin.

The film discusses Filipino American family ties, something unconventional, people bound beyond boundaries of race, language, culture and blood. The Woolworths takes inspiration from countless Filipinos in the US that weather tons of ups and downs, but still manage to stick together, a trait that many Pinoys would be able to relate to whilst they encounter cultural differences in the US, when we almost thought we weren't that much different.

Filipinos in general have close family ties. It's not even in their thoughts to send off older family members to senior homes, so just imagine Pokwang's life getting twisted when she gets involved in choosing family over her personal love life.

Director John Lazatin divulges Pokwang somehow had a say with who she's going to work with. The physical attraction should always be there in order to work smoothly in the set.

There might be fear in her part doing dramatic scenes but we came feeding off with the roles. She was nervous but she learned a lot from Frankie and Chad, it was fate that brought them together because some of the actors weren't really first choice but ended up taking the roles later on.

"It's a big swing to do and you have to have a lot of help from your co-actors. If it wasn't for them, shooting this wasn't going to be easy" says Lee O'Brian. "We took care of each other and the Director knows how to talk to and give us what we need. It was easy because of this ensemble. It wasn't too intense, when you see someone in the set and smile the whole time, shoot all day with us, we kept working hard, beyond supporting it was inspiring. I would be happy to work with the crew because we were all easy going. It was warm to walk in this set, we need time to explore Manila too because we're anxious to see more of it!"

This film will show on January 14, 2014 in theaters nationwide and this family film will probably make you cry just like the countless people who have seen it in the US. They hope you get to watch with your friends and family as they really made this with you in mind. There might be conflicts and issues that you will relate to especially if you've got older folks in your own homes. I'm watching too!

A Mother's Story

Monday, December 19, 2011

I would say this out loud. I love my Mom. If there would be anything in this world that she wants, I'll really try and get it for her. That's how important she is for me. I'm sure she has made lots of sacrifices for me in the past and I will never forget about it. You probably feel the same with your own Moms, that's where we'll start this story.

Millions of OFW's leave the country in hopes of a better life. If you have mouths to feed and your earnings don't quite match what you spend living in the Philippines; wouldn't that be your recourse as well?!

A movie by famed director John D. Lazatin "A Mothers Story" talks about an undocumented OFW's struggle to earn a living while keeping her family together. This is just one of many real stories that happen in our country and with POKWANG on the title role; this will surely be a great movie to see come January 8, 2012. Other countries have already seen this particular film and they have given great feedback. I wouldn't be surprised if this was nominated for a golden globe or the oscars.

The film also stars Xyriel Manabat and Rayver Cruz, Beth Tamayo, Ms. Daria Ramirez, Nonie Buencamino, Ana Capri, Jaime Fabregas, Aaron Junatas, K Brosas and Atty. Michael J. Gurfinkel. This is heavy drama and you'll be surprised how Pokwang will take on this role. You wouldn't be able to stop yourself from crying because the trailer alone tells it all. Pokwang herself had gone through this same route before she became who she is now. Rayver also had an OFW mother so it wasn't so hard for them to relate to their characters. Just telling the story while on the press conference made a lot of people cry. You'll never forget Pokwang after this bit and you'll surely be seeing her in more serious roles. Don't worry she will still be doing comedy for your afternoon programs and movies as well. She's quite a remarkable actress and she'll be showing her wares come January 8, 2012. Make sure you line up on theaters nationwide! This is still showing on selected theaters abroad so for the TFC subscribers, you should take time and visit where available.

Watch A Mother's Story... a sure tearjerker... a must watch for those who know OFW's and their families. This will surely get you guys even closer.

Need I say more?! Capisce?!
