DIMSUM TREATS Opens Newest Store at Samson Road Caloocan

Sunday, September 01, 2024

Dimsum Treats has been everywhere, and there's a new branch that just opened at the front of University of the East Caloocan Campus, and STI along Samson Road, Caloocan City. I'm no stranger in this area because I've spent quite a number of years finishing my engineering degree. Like any student, I try to make sure my allowance would last a week because if I spend too much, I'll be hungry over the weekend by force LOL. Students here know a deal when they see one, and I'm glad I got to see this new Dimsm Treats branch open so they could have choices other than the usual carinderia fare (not that there's anything wrong with it.).

This place offers dimsum favorites but at a fraction of chinese restaurant cost. They have Special Siomai, Meaty Mushroom Siomai (a bit earthy), Chinese Chicken Siomai (lighter than pork), Fried Sharksfin Dumpling (if you prefer the crunchy exterior), Pork and Quail Egg Siomai (which I ate loads of), Japanese Siomai (which was ordered by a lot of people while I was there), and the best seller Premium Pork and Shrimp Siomai. They packaged these with rice too, even with Yang Chow Rice versions if you love bits of veggies and chorizo on your plate.  They also have a really good Pork Chop which I would liken to some of those famous ones in Chinatown because they taste like it.

Premium Pork and Shrimp Siomai

Fried Sharksfin Dumpling

Pork Chop Meal which they'd gladly slice up for you!

Now if you live a bit far from Samson Road and want a dimsum fix, they have an official website where you can order and save a lot rather than ordering via food apps. Just head on to dimsumtreats.com and get your personal favorites. They have those that are already cooked, even have them in frozen packs so you can take it elsewhere and just heat it up when you get there.

It didn't last a few minutes when I placed it on the dinner table because as attested by family at home, these variety of Siomai just tasted fresh, just like it was taken out of the steamer.

So if you're in the area, go have your Dimsum Treats in this branch at Ma. Cristina Building's ground floor. They have a place to dine in and can fit a few people. As for me, I'll be back there for the Mushroom Siomai and Porkchop soon.

Congratulations to Dimsum Treats Caloocan! This one is good!

University of the East - PEP Rally 2011

Thursday, July 07, 2011

You probably all know that I live and bleed RED. I'm a warrior by birth and by right. My folks graduated in UE and so did I. Dad was a former Red Warrior and Red Shirt, Mom taught classes when high school was still around that era. I was blessed to have the chance to be one of the members of the Red Tribe. It's a community where Alumni, Students and Faculty from all over the world meet. I realize that we might not have the actual number to overwhelm other UAAP counterparts, but we have something good going on. We have HEART, that WARRIOR SPIRIT carries us on... even on days when everybody else was losing hope we still stuck it out with the Red Warriors. You can count on that!

Proud as we are; we try our best to seek and help those lost souls who often just sits quietly in the bylines and couldn't root for our varsity teams because they felt alone, felt they were too old and out of place among the sea of students who frequent the stands. We never knew we could be this big and still remain intimate. Our main goal is to have the whole crowd be called the Red Tribe. I'm glad the pioneers still have the time and spunk to continue what we are doing until now. It's one of the proudest things I felt as a Warrior, I felt more of that when I went to the University of the East PEP Rally in the Recto Campus.

The University of the East Fencing team did not just bring prestige to our school, but the entire country! The Southeast Asian Games was a cinch for them!

It was nice to see we have a Juniors Volleyball Team, we need to start training these athletes early in order to get more exposure in these games.

I haven't been seeing their games because of lack of information on their schedules + my schedule sucks. I'm sure these guys would give the other schools one heck of a fight like any Red Warrior team would do. Good luck on your games!

Look at the crowd just before the things started, this is 9AM and it was pretty early for me. I came from graveyard work but went from Eastwood to Recto (and stay awake!) just to get to this PEP Rally. I got to see the other teams there as well.

Just look at these kids. They are called the UE KID WARRIORS. They will surely get to be better basketball players when they grow up! If we start this early I'm sure the elusive Championship would not be far behind!

Fresh from their trip they gave us a treat! The UE CHORALE has proven to be one of the best in the world by winning 2 Gold Medals in the recently concluded 2011 Harmonie Festival, Germany. We also have their Conductor and Choir Master Ms. Anna Tabita Abeleda-Piquero to thank for that! Congratulations guys and gals!

Of course! How can we forget THE UE RED WARRIORS MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM! I'm impressed with the lineup even though other schools would just shrug us off thinking they can win just because of their imports LOL! We are staying ALL FILIPINO this season and not to discount VERY GOODLOOKING! Our team will be one hell of a great team to beat when the games commence. I am so proud that former WARRIOR and Professional Defense Minister Jerry Codiñera will lead the whole team and the tribe to get that Championship we all wish for!

Just with the actual formation of the team, I congratulate everyone who is behind this! The fight maybe tough but I'm sure we'll win this no matter what!

Here are some of the Warriors you need to take note of!

Our Team Captain Paul Christian C. Zamar will use his experience and skills to beat tough opponents this season! (Asahan ka ng Red Tribe ah! Hehehehe!) He got lots of SHREIKS from the female students... I'm not surprised though! Ha-ha!

This guy is Shej Roi D. Sumang. He's THE GUY to watch out for. His game is "SUPERIOR" and we may be owing a lot of our wins on his shoulders. He's quiet but he'll explode in the court when you least expect it. He was from Letran in high school. I'm rooting for him this season. We only have 2 tall guys and we'll work them like a horse so these key players will have to spend more time making points and equalizing the floor come game time. He's one tough cookie! Adrian Santos needs to step up as always too.

This guy looks like our glamor boy for this season (remember Xian Lim??). I know, the other schools must have run out of looks by now LOL! He's Nikko Montelibano, a very promising 6ft2 shotblocking and rebounding master that we recruited from RTU. He's one heck of a player! Yes, I heard screams from the girls too!

Like an angel coming down from heaven, his aura was really beaming. Everyone was a little or more starstruck at the sight of our Coach Jerry Codiñera. It's my first time to see him in the flesh! So did a lot of other people from UE. We have a lot of expectations but just do your best Coach! Bring out that Warrior Heart in each of our games!

Thank you to University of the East Recto people for letting me in even if I'm an alumni from UE Caloocan. Hope I won't have hitches next time! Thank you also to Team Manager Executive Director Jesus T. Tanchanco Sr. who gave a small talk with the UE RED TRIBE! Please do expect us in games wherever, whenever!

Good luck to the UE RED WARRIORS! Do your best okay?!

I'm proud to be a Warrior! and I'd die like one! =)

Goodluck to the UE Red Warriors Tomorrow!

Wednesday, September 30, 2009

COW

I just wish the guys from the Seniors Basketball team of UE Good luck on the game against the Ateneo Blue Eagles. I know this will be a tall order but I think there is nothing impossible as long as we put our mind into it.

The team has beaten FEU in a do or die match last week. That was also something big because they were seeded to win the championship. But then we have beaten them in that twice to beat condition of theirs. Now is the time to come together and support this underdog from Recto/Caloocan and Sta.Mesa =)

Actually even if they do not win this championship, for me they are already winners because they have definitely played with heart. I am also proud of them because even folks from other schools are rooting for UE. They know how hard it was for us to play these past few great games.

The Red Tribe also has been doing a great job supporting UE in it's games. Some of them even are not gonna get enough sleep because of preparations and props for the crowd tomorrow. I wanted to help but I had work obviously. Thanks for the great job too Red Tribe!

I believe...

Note: For UE alumni, or supporters of the UE Red Warriors, please do not forget to go to http://www.ueredtribe.org and register on the forums. It's our time!

Join the University of the East Red Tribe

Saturday, September 26, 2009

Every UAAP season, I never ran out of things to do. This is because I am part of the Red Tribe. People ask me what is the Red Tribe? Who can be members of it? Why join? It's simple!

I am an alumnus of University of the East, I am also a die hard fan of the University of the East Red Warriors which is our basketball team. One gloomy afternoon in PEX or pinoyexchange.com alumni's and students of the school just wanted to meet and support the team and every sport the University of the East had to go to. I came along just so I could see them too and support my team in the UAAP. With die hard fans like us, it's not really surprising to just call ourselves the Red Tribe. We always are present in games and support the players and students as well. Now we are a force to be reckoned with every single time we are seen in the Araneta Coliseum. We are also recognized a lot of times in local tv. I wonder how famous we are right now LOL.

Even so, I would like to invite UE alumnis, faculty, supporters and students to join the Red Tribe simply by registering in http://forum.ueredtribe.org and show your support this upcoming finals game between the University of the East Red Warriors and the Ateneo Blue Eagles. The only thing we ask for is to make known of your presence and join us when we go to games at every venue the warriors play. They need our help now so make sure you drop by the site and look for the moderators and administrators of that forum. You can also join in the chatroom because I'm sure there are always people supporting the Alma Mater wherever and whenever we may be.

This is just an invite of some sort, make sure you drop by okay?! ^_^

UE Red Warriors wins versus FEU Tamaraws

Friday, September 25, 2009

It was a great victory again for the University of the East Red Warriors 78-72 as they slaughtered Far Eastern University at the Araneta Coliseum this morning. I was supposed to go there if it were not for office work, but I guess nature has some sort of way reminding me of every bit of the action.

People were already watching the show live on TV when I arrived in the office. I was really so scared because in the first 3 quarters FEU was already a couple of points ahead. In the last quarter however, UE reigned supreme in shooting as they got the lead again and chose this battle ground to kill the hopes of the Tamaraws. Now the great chance of getting the championship is on their hands as the battle Ateneo Blue Eagles on Sunday.

I will be watching that live and I would not be scheduling anything on that day by hook or by crook! LOL

Here are some shots from last week when I got the chance to sneak in my camera in Araneta!

My Wish Came True, How about you?!

Wednesday, December 24, 2008

I had my wish granted, how about you?!

It's the most wonderful time of the year. Christmas here in my homeland spells gift giving, midnight dinners that are incomparable to any place in the world. It’s always a big event when this day comes and people expect only good things to happen as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

I'm a simple guy with simple dreams. I know I ask for some things that are expensive and sometimes preposterous compared to common Filipinos. You know how it is in the Philippines, they just give what they can because they imply the rule "it's the thought that counts!” A few days ago, my friend Kathryn sent me a text message asking for advice what restaurant we should go to. We meet once a year to check on what's happening with our friends and enjoy each other's company. I recommended a restaurant named Something Fishy, in Eastwood City so it would be quite near at my office since I did have work that evening. Everyone agreed to meet at that place at 6 PM but knowing everybody we would probably be meeting at around 7:30 PM which I placed a reservation for. I was right because they arrived around that time and some of them were running late too.

I didn't know they had dinner buffet at that place so we did eat a lot considering I was on a diet. I was happy to meet RV my best friend and Lisa my twin. RV was a hunk in college and a class A womanizer of sorts, but I was able to cope with his attitude because I was the good boy as everybody knows. Lisa on the other hand was my twin, which I really admired because we almost have the same IQ level and same birthday at that. Hence, we are really twins though I am a little older because I was born morning and she was born in the afternoon. I was only teasing them when we were in college; only to find out I was already expecting a godson from them when we were almost graduating. Kathryn was also there, she was pretty with all her Jennifer Lopez inspired attire. Her ex-boyfriend Dexter came in with Roger and his wife to be. Dexter is from T.R.A.N.S.C.O. the transmission lines company, so think about how long he had to travel from the north which probably took 8 hours to get there. It was normal for him though because he does usually go to Manila. Roger on the other hand was working for a Telecommunications Company, he and his wife to be is going to get married sometime June or July this year. I wish them all the best because as far as I know Roger did not even have a girlfriend when we were in college. Now he's getting married and I am definitely happy for him.

Later that evening, Edwin and his wife arrived and chewed down with us. He's already got 3 daughters I think which I really forgot to give gifts too. I was really impressed as they were both in clad gold that time like they were already shining. It was nice seeing him joke around again, as long as I was not the topic I was really fine with that. Rummy went to the dinner together with her husband Dexter, he's another Dexter. I never got to see her since we parted ways in college. So that's like 8 years I think so I kind of liked the fact that I get to see people that I haven't met in a long time. That was a record I think, but I would probably have to wait until I get to meet my high school friends and buddies too. I never had my wife around with me that time because she had her own places and relatives to go to. It's sad because I feel like when we meet like that and everyone has a partner around, I realize that I am still single. Not that I am in a hurry but I would probably get married sometime soon and that's going to be another story.

University of the East Engineering friends meets again @ Eastwood City

If I would have the chance to sit on Santa's lap and got a wish, it would be to see my friends. In this day and age I could have asked for material things knowing how capricious I am. The feeling I got when we met was more than what I could ever wish for. If someone were to ask me what I would like to have for Christmas, I already had it. The time with my friends was incomparable. These are little things that we should always be thankful for. If you want to make a wish and have it granted, you should check out http://www.sitonsantaslap.com/?utm_source=b and get to sit on Santa's lap like when you were a kid. I even had the chance to be included in his story with my memorable pictures of our dinner in C.E.I.V.A. Digital Photo Frames. C.E.I.V.A. is the inventor of the digital photo frames so you only get the best unlike cheap imitations out in the market. Make sure you enter the optional sweepstakes if you are 18 years old and a resident of the United States and/or Washington D.C.

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

I met my UE Caloocan Engineering Buds! ^_^

UE Caloocan... the times we reminisced...

I just got in the office after a short dinner and chit chat with my college friends... Man it was amazing to see their faces again... the stories were just never ending.

I hate the fact that we only meet once a year, but you know what?! it's kinda fine that we get to miss each other for once. One thing though, we all are happy... we ate a lot at Something Fishy... and drank a couple of rounds at Seafood Island... I got the chance to see people that I haven't seen since 2000 would you believe? It was nice, the company was reaaaaaly great... I just wish we do this often... well you know how busy we are... with work, and family too... I just miss them all I guess.. ^_^

I'll get a post scribbled once I get em pictures... I promised them I'd write one heheh... Man this is a nice Christmas... ^_^

UE Red Warriors bows to Ateneo Blue Eagles 70-50

Chris Tiu and 2 warriors battle out for the ball

I
t all ends here UE! as Ateneo wins 70-50

I am disappointed but really who wouldn't be as the UE Red Warriors suffered a heart wrenching loss to favored Ateneo Blue Eagles in the Final 4 playoffs in the UAAP.

It was a whole game of turnovers, turnovers of turnovers, airballs and veterans not stepping up as the mighty Ateneo clawed the skins of the UE Warriors. Congrats Marcy and Llagas... and the others as well... Let's just try next season!

Well what can we do... we are only spectators.... we stayed with them till the end but still... we did not win... Ateneo just played better... that's just it... next year... and the next after that... we'll just hope something good's gonna happen.. till next season.... hey! it will happen! ^_^ you know the drought will end... GO FIGHT RED AND WHITE!

The journey of UE temporarily ends here. Some seniors will cease to exist next year and the start of something else. I hope its more than this though... I know we'll win the Championship even if its ON season! We are hungry for it! I believe! Go UE RED Warriors!

UE Red Warriors task : FINAL FOUR massacre!

Sunday, September 14, 2008

My Team the UE Red Warriors!

Now the UE Red Warriors has the final four slot in the UAAP, they have to step up and beat expected favorite Ateneo Blue Eagles. No fourth-ranked team has pulled off an upset over a top seed since the Final Four format was implemented in 1994.

“Even if history says otherwise, I think we still have a good chance,” said Warriors coach Dindo Pumaren. “I’m very happy with the way we’re playing in the last few games and we hope to bring it in the Final Four.” Ateneo has been successful against La Salle and UE so far this year, beating both teams twice in the elims. Ateneo closed it out with a 13-1 record, its only loss being dealt by FEU. But the Final Four is a different story.

“UE is a good team. I mean they were the favorites going into this league (season). We have respect for them. We have to break their pressure and get the ball inside,” Black added.

UE lost this game to Ateneo, but its okay! ^_^ We can do it!

The UE Red Warriors suffered a heartwrenching loss to Ateneo this afternoon Aug 20, 2008. I personally am sad because I've been rooting for my warriors since I've been one. I'm also part of the Red Tribe. If it were not for Tiu who sank a three-pointer while they were three points down in the fourth quarter to force overtime at 50-all we could have won this game. The lapses in defense were evident.

Ateneo was comfortably ahead in the first three quarters. The Warriors, however, managed to turn the table in the fourth quarter. They also hauled down a total of 24 rebounds mostly on the defensive end, outmuscling their UE counterparts inside the paint. Rabeh al-Hussaini and Nonoy Baclao combined for a total of 29 points to ward off the Warriors. I'll be holding on to the promise of them getting back on their feet and win more games.

GO FIGHT RED AND WHITE!
GO FIGHT RED AND WHITE!

GO UE GO UE GO GO GO!
