Coca-Cola Foundation, Coca-Cola Philippines Help Typhoon Odette Hit Areas

Monday, February 07, 2022

When Typhoon Odette hit the Philippines, a lot of Filipinos lost their homes, livelihood, and capacity to earn a living. The philanthropic arm of the Coca-Cola Company has been helping in their own capacity, benefiting thousands of people across 6 provinces that have been affected by this natural disaster. To start off, a grant of USD 400,000 to CBCP Caritas Filipinas Foundation was made to support nine dioceses in Visayas and Mindanao operate several efforts for food, shelter, repair kits, solar lamps, hygiene kits,  to more than 4 thousand families in the region.

Coca Cola Foundation also has given Php 5.8 Million worth of food, hygiene kits, shelter or roof repair, drinking water and filters so they start picking up the pieces and start recovery early on. They worked with NGO partners Water and Life Philippines, WWF, Caritas Manila, Philippine Business for Social Progress, Gawad Kalinga, World Vision, Synergeia Foundation and Waves 4 Water. Saadia Madsbjerg the President of Coca-Cola Foundations says "This is the time we provide humanitarian aid for those who are in need and we know how these natural disasters especially during the pandemic affect so many people in communities that have limited resources."

Ms. Cecile Alcantara the President of the Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines adds "We and our trusted partners continue to serve Filipinos through different programs, waste management, water stewardship, education, youth and women empowerment including disaster relief. Although we know how resilient Filipinos are, we are here to support you one day at a time."

To date, they are still supplying over 70 thousand liters of Wilkins drinking water in affected areas, and employees through CCBPI have raised over Php 600K to help in Visayas and Mindanao. They are working with Mandaue City as well for mobile treatment machines that make water potable in the area. They are present in communities in Marawi, Davao del Sur and Bicol as well.

KFC x Coca Cola Emoticups!

Tuesday, August 09, 2016

I've been raring to complete those cute little cans that Coca Cola released this year. I like how we could now Share The Feeling and Taste the Feeling whenever we give it away. The emoticons says it all, like if you love em, or kilig about it, or just when you're saying hi it's all there!

During the launch we had Karel Marquez, the executives of Coca Cola and KFC to tell us some even better news. They have just come out with the new EMOTICUPS which they will include in meals and bucket promos in every store nationwide!

They currently have 4 variants, the LOVE, INCREDIBLE, WOW and KILIG Emoticups. Now you have another reason to visit a KFC store and tell people how you feel about them with these cute EMOTICUPS! This will be released during a limited time only or until supplies last. Make sure you head on today to a KFC store so you could get these precious collectibles now!

Congratulations KFC and Coca Cola FEMSA for this great partnership! I'm sure Coke and Chicken lovers like me would be doubly excited when we see these emoticups in our meals! Can't wait to complete the set!

Coca Cola Philippines Launches "Taste the Feeling" Campaign

Tuesday, January 26, 2016

It's the drink we all love, continue to love, and will love in the next millennium. This is Coca Cola Philippines and together with other countries, they're launching a new campaign called "Taste the Feeling". Now I wasn't really too keen about the premise of it because it kinda sounded weird for me to actually literally take the campaign right away. They've done it quite nicely with the previous one so I was kinda optimistic too. Lo and behold, they showed us a couple of videos from Mexico, some other South American countries and in the Philippines too. I think the overall gist of what they were trying to imply with this new one is, whatever situation we go through, a breakup, a fight, something happy, something sad, at the end of the day, we survive and celebrate life.

We Filipinos are known to have one trait unbeknownst to other countries, and that is being resilient. Despite of going through large catastrophes, tons of human struggle and natural disasters, we still smile and keep that positive vibe to survive the next day. This is why Coca Cola is celebrating US too in the "Taste the Feeling" campaign, because they see in us something that is actually good just like the rest of the countries they're in right now.

Aside from the new campaign, Coca Cola Philippines also brought to the forefront their Coca Cola Ambassadors. During the event, one of the first endorsers they've ever had in the Philippines took us to the 80's. It was Gary Valenciano, and he made us remember his music during the 80's and mixed it with the modern vibe he's doing now. We were also delightfully surprised about the new Coke Ambassadors they introduced. On stage were James Reid, Bailey Ray and Ylona Garcia, Enchong Dee, Janella Salvador, Enrique Gil and the gorgeous Liza Soberano. Hosting the show was Boys Night Out's very own Sam YG. They didn't just stand there to get acknowledged, they actually had brought out a couple of cases of Coke and gave it away to the Executives, the guests, and us the media. It was something that you can actually feel, a personal touch to make us aware that THIS is how you "Taste the Feeling". We really felt special and I think that was one of the things they wanted to send as a message.

Here are some videos we took from the event. Enjoy!

For those asking, Nadine Lustre, Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards are still part of this. You may check the video wall before the reveal that they are in the campaign. They were not available during the event because of prior commitments/projects. We understand how busy they are right?

Congratulations Coca Cola Philippines! Thanks for having us too!

The Perfect Coke

Wednesday, February 25, 2015

I was mind blown seeing tons of Coke bottles in a giant cooler in the middle of Glorietta's Activity Center. Coca Cola Philippines invited us for a day of fun and excitement as they ask us to reminisce how it was to have our first time. With the hashtag #SarapNgFirstTime already out being advertised on TV, we've always wondered what was it all about? Is this a new variant of Coke? You see, I even speculated about that already, that they'll be bringing something new and announcing it in a grand way.

You see the thing behind me? I didn't think about it that much, but that was actually a hint already of what they were about to announce that afternoon. When Gino Quillamor from RX93.1 arrived to host the show, he kept on coming back to check the status of the thermometer and telling us about how to have the #PerfectCoke. I mean, really though, is there such a thing?

I like my coke ice cold, but do you know what's the exact temperature to have a perfect one? We waited a while to see what Coca Cola Philippines had to say. It's like an official pronouncement of what certain point would it be to say that it is the actual #PerfectCoke, but before that, they got stars in the mix and launched it simultaneously here in Manila, Cebu and Davao in the south. It felt like a huge party where the main thing to celebrate with is this awesome beverage.

They had Manolo Pedrosa and Miles Ocampo to sing and dance for us. That was something worthy to be told later LOL.. Or you can check out this video about their individual performances!

I even saw some admins of the IGersManila group, they were there like me as they were invited by Coke!

Then these guys finally came up the stage and told us that the Coke bottles they've been keeping cold in the back is almost perfect, enough with the suspense already!

The first time you had a Coke should always and is recommended to be at 3' Celsius! Yes, it's not a nee flavor, it's the perfect coke if it's on that particular temperature. Isn't that great news? Well it won't be if we didn't try it out ourselves that afternoon, so we did!

When they started to ask for a toast, I already drank half the bottle hahaha! So I did the smartest thing after that, I got another bottle! Genius!

Now it's easy to do it too in your own homes. Just make sure you have enough ice to fill the coolers and put in bottles of Coke there! Or if you're a little tired, and if it's too hot outside this summer, you can actually wait for them to come to you! Ob yes you heard that right! They have brand new spanking Coke Happy Cycles that will go around the country to give away a million bottle of #PerfectCoke! Just make sure you follow their official social media channels so you can request your barangay, township or city to be the next one! Free coke is just weeee!

Coca Cola Philippines Wins US Government's ACE

Tuesday, January 20, 2015

US Ambassador Philip Goldberg (center) together with Director of HR and Corporate Affairs of Coca Cola Femsa Philippines Juan Carlos Rodriguez (left) and Atty. Adel Tamano the VP for Public Affairs and Communications for Coca Cola Philippines accepting the US State Department's Award for Corporate Excellence last December at Sofitel Manila..

Coca Cola Philippines just got the Secretary of State's Award for Corporate Excellence for their efforts in relief and rehabilitation during Typhoon Yolanda. US Ambassador Philip Goldberg gave them the award in ceremonies done in Sofitel Manila and received by VP for Public Affairs and Cimmunications Atty. Adel Tamano.

Coca Cola Philippines was one of the first few companies to respond for calls to help with the crisis as Western and Central Visayas was hit by Typhoon Haiyan and donated around 2.5 Million US dollars from its main office. It was given to various relief, humanitarian efforts and partnerships with the Philippine Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity. They also pooled donations and volunteers during this time so they could address basic needs like water, nutrition and education.

They suspended all advertising for Christmas and realigned programs so they could rechannel the funds for the same purpose. Right now, they are implementing programs like the Agos Ram Water Pump (to help improve water quality and sanitation), the NutriJuice Program (to help 35,000 school children from malnutrition), and Little Red School House (built 300 classrooms to benefit thousands of kids in the province) plus a 5by20 Program so they would be economically empowered women entrepreneurs and provide 1000 sari sari stores in the province of Leyte. They also partnered with USAID for the rehabilitation of ravaged stores in both Leyte and Samar. It helped ensure commerce, the flow of goods in the community which is a crucial part of bringing normalcy in the province. They also provided loans and programs for Negros Women of Tomorrow Foundation, Alternative Indigenous Development Foundation Inc. with the help of the Department of Education, Philippine Business for Social Progress and local government units among others.

Coca Cola Philippines is now one of three companies to win the Secretary of State's 2014 Award for Corporate Excellence. It's given to American companies to recognize leadership and commitment to innovation, responsible practices and positive contributions to local economies. Congratulations to you guys and I hope I get to visit your plant again soon!

The Coca Cola Modern Glass Collection at McDonalds

Friday, November 07, 2014

Isn't that a sight for sore eyes? You know last year, I had to line up a couple of times in McDonalds stores in Eastwood so I could get all the upside down looking Coca Cola glasses and take it home. This year, I feel so ecstatic that people have been so good to me for this to happen. I got a whole set of the new Coca Cola Modern Glass Collection complete with a box that made look quite expensive. The same rule goes, if you get to purchase a McDonald's Extra Value Meal, BFF Burger, Chicken Bundle or Breakfast Value Meals, just add Php 25.00 to it and voila! You've got one of these gorgeous glass pieces in the bag!

First impression? Pretty. Anyone could prolly mistake this for those expensive ones in posh home centers seen in malls. It's something collectible, and pretty much it's something that Filipinos have grown accustomed to. I know a ton of people that probably received a set or more of these drinking glasses as gifts from birthdays, weddings, or just any occasion there is in the country. Funny as it seems to some, but it projects our natural affinity of taking care of each other, our way of making sure that our fellows home is complete and at least have the basics. It does mean a lot more than just drinking glasses, it's how we share memories, how we interact when we get to the table from breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Design wise, they've done an extremely good job at it. This is the 7th year that they are doing this, making this a long withstanding partnership with Coca Cola and McDonald's. Whether it's the Diamond, Linear, Mosaic, Pixel, Ripple or Steel that you need to work on these days, now's the chance for you to storm through the nearest McDonald's branch near you to get one of these gorgeous drinking glasses available only holidays through the special partnership of Coke and McDonald's which will only last during the holidays.

I'll be adding another set for some friends and relatives, will you be doing the same?! :)

Fat Or Obese Is Okay, Exercise Is Medicine

Wednesday, September 03, 2014

Dr. Mark Stoutenberg and Dr. Rodolfo Florentino

I'm not the healthiest guy out there and my idea of "exercise" is just a few kilograms of dumbbells. I thought too that I was already doomed because I know how big I was. Lo and behold Dr. Mark Stoutenberg Ph.D. MSPH brings me good news that clinical studies in the US has proven that there is no clear amount information to claim - that being overweight or obese would mean you''ll die early. Being in that state has no relation whatsoever in the mortality rate. We listened very carefully about the study and the reasons behind it.

Unbelievable? Well no, because actually it does make sense. It doesn't mean when you are bigger, you would die easily. No matter what shape or size you are, just as long as you keep the activity intense and on a regular basis... then you might just even live longer than naturally thin people. In the US, they have computerized their database and have found out in a couple of questions that there's no clear correlation between having higher weight to having heart attack or death. That was their conclusion after checking their records and seen how the value of involving a healthier lifestyle for someone be a great catalyst to make someone's condition better than when not doing it at all.

"Exercise Is Medicine" or EIM is an international initiative for physical activities whose goal is to ultimately promote the the skill to health professionals and practitioners and make it a vital measure for disease prevention and management. EIM might be new in the Philippines but most do not know how it's been in existence in over 40 countries, 7 Regional Centers in North America, Latin America, Europe, Southeast Asia, China, Africa and Australia. It's officially their first year in the Philippines and together with their international partners like Coca Cola Philippines, they have been working hard to involve the different groups, professionals that are health care practitioners, some research scientists, to physical fitness experts and make them in touch with the future development and evaluation of EIM in the country.

Training sessions were also done by EIM Philippines last August 28th and 29 for 12 Doctors and 6 Fitness professionals. The activity would be just a start so people from both industries would meet eye to eye when recommending regimens and exercise programs and know what the others would do in their respective professions. The deal is, they want this to be the possible outcome for every recommendation from Doctors. They also need to include workout regimen and programs that would fit every patient needs without getting conflicting ideas from other fitness professionals, making it safer and better for the end user, YOU.

The possibility of working out at least 150 minutes with moderate intensity and of aerobic nature is achievable for ordinary people, I could use some of that too. Dr. Florentino says it will have a significant impact in someones life. By then, 300 minutes of it would be doubly better and will get you to achieve more. To know more about how EIM can work for you, check out their channels below.

Coca Cola Football Festival 2014

Thursday, May 08, 2014

Coca Cola, the nation's favorite drink just launched the fourth installment of the CocaCola Football Festival at the Ayala Alabang Country Club in Muntinlupa City. Over 230 teams and approximately 3,500 players from all over the country will be in this year's league as part of their strong support for the sport of football around the world. President and CEO Guillermo Aponte says it brings a lot of excitement and support for the sport and they are glad to be part of sponsoring something that would benefit all the regions, all genders. We are trying to cover Manila and the whole island of Luzon and perhaps other provinces soon because we hope to work closer with them. In the meantime we will try to do our best to promote football/soccer in the Philippines - as much as we can.

It will be played in 22 football fields and will be done simultaneously. They will also follow a 7A Side Football Format wherein they will be limited to 7 players. The schools and football clubs are only allowed one team in this cup. Last year, Green Barons, Miriam College, Xavier Football Club, the Makati Football Club, DLSU, FC Sikat, DLSU Zobel, Makati FC Elite and Makati Football School took home titles in different categories. I've also seen their photos on the lot while everyone was busy playing that afternoon. CocaCola will also be sponsoring their trophies and medals, some of which I saw being displayed on the sidelines.

Now, if you think these kids are just playing ball in a playground, think again.

These kids would probably run some professionals a run for the money but really, they are here for the love of the game. Now, if that isn't enough reason to cheer them on and support them then I don't know what will. They now have a different outlook in life because they are engaged in sports.

Coca Cola ultimately wants this to happen in every region, every place in the Philippines and slowly, they are gearing up for more associations and football clubs to join them really soon. Football is a priority sport that CocaCola has supported all these years. This includes FIFA and other union sports in Europe, US and Asia.

Thank you for sponsors like them that gets the youth where they rightfully should be. In the grounds, playing and winning. Can't wait to see who wins this 2014!
