Which is better, gasoline or diesel?

Wednesday, August 01, 2018

Motorheads have various opinions on which is better to have: a gasoline-powered or a diesel-propelled vehicle. Some would say the former has a lot more benefits than the other, and others, vice versa. So we listed down some points to consider if you’ll be getting either a diesel or a gasoline-fed vehicle.

MILEAGE

This would be the biggest consideration for many. Since everyone—and we do mean everyone—experiences long hours in traffic jams, getting a motor vehicle that would not guzzle up its fuel should be a priority. While there are lots of gasoline-powered vehicles in the market now that claim they have a high fuel-efficiency rating, most of the time, it’s the diesel-engined vehicles that take the cake. Carmudi reported that diesel engines are more fuel-efficient than its gasoline counterparts: some 25-30 percent more if based on figures. On an average, vehicles will be driven at about 48,000 kilometers in a span of three years. Based on Carmudi’s calculation two years ago, at an average price back then of P30 per liter on diesel and P40 on gas, one would have spent some P213,999 on petrol versus the P120,000 only on diesel.

PERFORMANCE

Diesel engines nowadays—thanks to its common-rail direct injection and turbocharging features—can provide more power and torque even at low RPMs, so there is no need to push the gas pedal harder to get that little more oomph. Gasoline-fed motors can provide equally-powerful figures in terms of power and torque, but unlike the diesel engines, it needs higher RPM to put out such numbers.

RESALE VALUE

We all know that all vehicles depreciate in value in time, that is why many owners tend to sell their vehicle after a few years. If you are that type of person,, then diesel engine is good for you. Go to both our new cars and used cars’ page and you will see that the prices of diesel-powered vehicles are usually higher compared to those propelled by gasoline. However, if buying price would be of consideration, petrol engines are much cheaper, meaning, they’re much easier to acquire compared to diesels.

CLEANER EMISSIONS

Without a doubt, gasoline trumps diesel engines on this. Usually, gasoline is more refined than diesel. Over time, smoke coming from diesel engines tend to be darker, especially when using low-grade diesel; CRDi are especially very sensitive to fuel quality. This is the reason diesel fuels need special additives and lubricants to maintain its healthy state. Gasoline, on the other hand, is easier to maintain and leaves lesser carbon footprints.

CONCLUSION

Truth is, it all depends on your preference. Getting a vehicle that fits your lifestyle, where you will be using it without undermining your financial capability, should dictate the vehicle that you will be having. Scout and get your preferred vehicle here.

1 Million Pesos for Success the MLQU Way

Tuesday, June 06, 2017

I'm having a grand time here in Manuel L. Quezon University's Quezon City Campus at the Victoria Sports Tower along EDSA. I think they're going to announce another milestone as they have gotten one of their students in the limelight by quipping the Top 8 spot for the Civil Engineering Licensure exam this 2017. He is Engr. Archimedes Martinez, and they are putting this in front as they feel this is tanget to their big SUCCESS which is done the MLQU way. NSJBI and MLQU has got a surprise for them.

MLQU has shone brightly after being bought by NSJBI in 2014 and this is just one of the few things they are doing to hasten excellence in education, to strive to excell, they are also amping up great rewards to those who have brought pride to the University.

During the event, they have also interviewed lawyers that have graduated from MLQU and they shared their experiences about how it was to become a lawyer. Some of them didn't have support groups, means to actually study, but just by working hard and the muster to pursue their dreams, they are now the lawyers they dreamed to be. They noted how their professors were dedicated and passionate about educating them, that compared them to diamonds, which need a lot of pressure before they could have their own shine. Yes there is culture shock, but you will be pushed by your peers, by professors, the people in your school to aspire more, that is where you will get to love law. By the way, all their parents cried after getting the good news. It was heartwarming to hear them share how they felt about it. From the exhausting reviews, sleepless nights, tons of money, it was all worth it, and they made it!

Raphael Pedroso and Archimedes Martinez were then introduced and told their story. Raphael admitted to not have studied so much in the past but when he failed the first time he took the exams, he was encouraged by his brother to take the boards again... and he eventually got through and even had his grades equal to top 3, but since he is a repeater it wasn't recognized on top. He was so glad still and pushed himself to be a great man, imagine he had a medal given to him in college indicating Civil Engineering during his first course of Computer Science. It was a struggle, but he overcame it all. We all have these stories.

Archimedes on the other hand was the black sheep of the family, he had not been doing good on vices even used his tuition fee for gambling. They had him stop for a year because of that they didn't want him to enroll anymore, but he was given a chance to study again by his father and eventually, on taking his first board exams, who would have believed that he landed Top 8 overall? He utters "Make those people who doubt you your inspiration!", a quite good point.

MLQU is getting a lot of help from their graduates, some of which are topnotchers in their own field. "As we took over we wanted to face this challenge head on and bring in great faculty, and bring back the greatness of the school to it's status in the glorious days, my peers said they can do it. We can make it again in the different courses so we have had professors help to make this a reality. Educations and achievers are great equalizers! -Dr. Isagani Herman of MLQU"

Then they surprised them, they awarded Archimedes 1 Million Pesos for the feat and 50 thousand to Raphael Pedroso.

Manuel L. Quezon University Launches SPACE in Quezon City

Saturday, October 10, 2015

Manuel L. Quezon University has been making a name for itself since 1947. It's excellency in courses specifically Law has been unquestionable putting itself on the bar's top 10 quite often among other things. It also now offers courses in Education, Arts, Sciences, Accountancy, Business, Engineering, Architecture and I.T.. Noted graduates have also been able to show excellence and secured posts in government, social services, public and private corporations, even the highest offices interpreting the laws of the land.

Now under new management, they're making waves under Chairman of the Board of Regents Dr. Jose Rizalino Acuzar. With New San Jose Builders Inc. at their back, the long withstanding expansion planned years ago is finally taking shape. During ceremonies at the Victoria Towers in GMA Kamuning, they introduced SPACE which is MLQU's School for Professional Advancement and Continuing Education. It's at the second level of the building's ground complex and can accommodate 800-1000 students this semester. If the need arises, they can get it up to 3,000 easily in the next few months. Aside from that, they boast the same kind of facilities and quality of education at a very competitive or even cheaper price. They want to make this more affordable for a greater number of individuals, and starting with this new place in Quezon City they feel they can make that happen. It's about time MLQU stays in Quezon City, Manual L. Quezon's dream personified.

CHED Executive Director Julito Vitriolo, Gen. Jaime Delos Santos, Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr., MLQU's Dr. Isagani Germar, Atty. Gwen Grecia-De Vera and Dr. Vinci Nicholas Villasenor in a toast for MLQU's SPACE

SPACE is now more than a gap in vacuums, it's an institution inside this metropolis that's got tons of opportunities to grow. With competence, better management, strategic operations and business expertise, there's no where to go but up! This is the growth area, something that can satisfy basic foundations for progress and its solid economic environment, this is going to be the best place for continued education that is accessible to many residential and commercial communities not just in Quezon City but nearby places. You'll have the honor too of being with distinguished alumni if you get to complete the course. You'll get places, finish higher education, some short courses, and feel anything is possible if you just put your mind into it. The upcoming ASEAN integration means you have to equip yourself with the right skills, more knowledge and they just took the whole school to you instead of you going all the way to Manila. This is the school of governance, the place for project management, so you can meet the needs of your responsibilities if you win a post in the elections. SPACE represents the impressive managerial expertise, technical competence and corporate social responsibility so you can identify yourself with great leaders like Manuel L. Quezon, which is its namesake.

According to MLQU's President, Dr. Isagani Germar "SPACE is here to make a mix in the area that offers courses and education in Business, Governance and Law. This place would give students a nearer location instead of far schools, with comparable tuition fee or even lower than others. The strength of the school is Law, Business and Public Governance and we'll have that offered here at SPACE! Imagine, we just took over a year ago and we believe the move is just in time for us to get the other students to join us into this school. We have the faculty, the facilities and now the curriculum. We have the best faculty now but we're looking to further upgrade that, it enhances leadership management and social responsibility."

The track record of the new owners in construction and technical competence and management will continue victories in education. They hope to build on that and deliver more for professionals, working students so they can continue the legacy of MLQU!

IBM: 75Years of Innovation in the Philippines!

Monday, July 23, 2012

IMG-20120720-00600

IBM Philippines just celebrated their 75th Anniversary in this country. As much as it looks so overwhelmingly stamped its ground in the Philippines, they still probably think its still in its infancy. I was reminded more of what huge contributions they have made in the last few years despite of the hardships they also as a corporation have encountered. They have evolved from being a hardware vendor to a full circle serviced corporation able to integrate processes here and around the globe. They now are one of the stalwarts of off shore operations for IBM and one of the few recognized countries that would be essential for the growth of this multinational corporation. President and Country General Manager Mariels Almeda-Winhoffer said that this has been the challenge for her, she wants IBM Philippines to become ESSENTIAL. That word alone entails a lot of things and responsibilities and a private corporation like IBM Philippines wants to take this challenge. In undertaking this humongous task, I'd gladly laud them for even thinking of it.

IBM Philippines portfolio has grown tremendously. With 50 accounts and more to come in bpo, supply and shared services, it was not surprising seeing their numbers grow. Their goal was to always follow their dreams of building more smarter cities, gain ideal geo expansions, utilize cloud and its convenient advantages, plus utilize analytics to predict/gain reliable data. The first female IBM President and Country General Manager Mariels Almeda-Winhoffer says her arrival to the Philippines made her have a different purpose; to become an essential part of the country/the community/ and their customers. Actually she said the whole business model was made to support this goal. Aside from that, they did not forget their duty to society. Their Kidsmart project alone benefited almost 800,000 kids, institutions, students and professors. They have also put importance in integrated health services in the Philippines as this has also been the center of attention of IBM globally. IBM Philippines is now a proud services and software company that's going to have sustainable growth in the next few years. They will continue providing solutions via integration. That is actually their next step, and they are adding more for their long term goals.

It was a treat visiting them on their turf, let alone on a day where they celebrate their 75th year. They even had a small part of the intros explaining the Filipino work ethics and customs. It was nice to see it in that perspective. I hardly ask questions but while everyone was at the heat of the moment, I remembered the part about IBM and the problems they had with GSIS. I was worried that they painted a pretty picture here but still had that issue with the records of that government agency. As soon as I asked, everyone jumped in and said that it has been resolved. They released a statement here years ago. I was wondering what happened to that because I personally saw my Mom go through hell in GSIS. Saw an article here saying there were settlements being done during the new administration. In any case, they assured me they've got that settled already. Mom should be happy.

Today they've got a few projects with local cities like Davao. Their Public Safety and Security Command Center is being scaled up on a one of a kind initiative to make this one of their Smart Cities. The IBM Intelligent Operations Center solutions will create advanced technological solutions to existing infrastructure to improve the overall city management which will further lower crime rates in Davao. They will also be using analytics on parts of this very promising projects. Pretty soon they'll be using the same technique to other ones but this is a definite first in the world! I'm sure this wouldn't be the last of it!

This has always been IBM Philippines thrust; which is transformation through innovation. They've already made a great head start in more cities in the Philippines; and this will surely be something to be shared to the rest of the world. The Philippines is indeed essential to IBM's growth today and for years to come. Congratulations on continuing to grow together; with the people and communities you've helped along the way. Thank you for being a part of a bigger, better Philippines!

Thoughts on Professional Fulfillment

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

I'm a Computer Engineer and I've been in the industry for over10 years. I must admit it has been a very tough climb in the corporate ladder and I have been trying my best to always get ahead of the pact. It wasn't easy for me to begin with; and so did my peers in college. I have friends in the Civil Engineering Department and since they are mostly project based the opportunities for them were a little scarce since the recession. If you are a civil engineer you will feel less involved in nation building because if you need to start off in an entry level position the salary range wouldn't be as nice if it was a white collar job. The field would be your playground and the chance of getting in just to have experience is very scarce. Road projects and skyscrapers built by Real Estate corporations would be a big deal but some of them would never even go near professional expectations. Since it is hard to get a job; the long withstanding hope for a better life would also be gambled. There are some sites like CIVILENGINEERJOBS.ORG who can help provide opportunities through a community; and if they only get to harness Information Technology to get these jobs it would be doubly easy since they are going to be the one sought for by the ones who need them.

I'm hopeful that someday it would be easy for everyone else to get a job. We all have our individual qualifications and some are brilliant than others. If we work on what we have and make that a deciding factor for business owners to choose us over thousands of applicants we would all get a better paying job and professional satisfaction which makes this world a better place for us and our loved ones.

Do you have plans to get a better job this year?! What would you do to make it to the top?! Let me know and comment on this page! =)

Searching for Valuable Information

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

I've been looking for information on the World Wide Web this morning for my Dad. He was asking me about the rules FIVB released lately about beach volleyball. He's into sports and he is probably going to be one of the referees this coming UAAP season for the beach volleyball event in my university. I looked up premier search engines and only got a few results that dated last year. That was just not enough in my books because I need something more recent.

I'm not bragging about anything but since the famous ones failed me, I used AAfter Web Search Engine instead and I was in for a surprise. Aside from the original document that I needed, there were even a couple things I found out from other web sites it recommended. I saw some local establishments where they could get materials for the court they plan to use so if my Dad enlists my services then I probably know how to set that up. Another good deal for me and my Engineering firm if that materializes. That would be just nice right?!

My Wish Came True, How about you?!

Wednesday, December 24, 2008

I had my wish granted, how about you?!

It's the most wonderful time of the year. Christmas here in my homeland spells gift giving, midnight dinners that are incomparable to any place in the world. It’s always a big event when this day comes and people expect only good things to happen as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

I'm a simple guy with simple dreams. I know I ask for some things that are expensive and sometimes preposterous compared to common Filipinos. You know how it is in the Philippines, they just give what they can because they imply the rule "it's the thought that counts!” A few days ago, my friend Kathryn sent me a text message asking for advice what restaurant we should go to. We meet once a year to check on what's happening with our friends and enjoy each other's company. I recommended a restaurant named Something Fishy, in Eastwood City so it would be quite near at my office since I did have work that evening. Everyone agreed to meet at that place at 6 PM but knowing everybody we would probably be meeting at around 7:30 PM which I placed a reservation for. I was right because they arrived around that time and some of them were running late too.

I didn't know they had dinner buffet at that place so we did eat a lot considering I was on a diet. I was happy to meet RV my best friend and Lisa my twin. RV was a hunk in college and a class A womanizer of sorts, but I was able to cope with his attitude because I was the good boy as everybody knows. Lisa on the other hand was my twin, which I really admired because we almost have the same IQ level and same birthday at that. Hence, we are really twins though I am a little older because I was born morning and she was born in the afternoon. I was only teasing them when we were in college; only to find out I was already expecting a godson from them when we were almost graduating. Kathryn was also there, she was pretty with all her Jennifer Lopez inspired attire. Her ex-boyfriend Dexter came in with Roger and his wife to be. Dexter is from T.R.A.N.S.C.O. the transmission lines company, so think about how long he had to travel from the north which probably took 8 hours to get there. It was normal for him though because he does usually go to Manila. Roger on the other hand was working for a Telecommunications Company, he and his wife to be is going to get married sometime June or July this year. I wish them all the best because as far as I know Roger did not even have a girlfriend when we were in college. Now he's getting married and I am definitely happy for him.

Later that evening, Edwin and his wife arrived and chewed down with us. He's already got 3 daughters I think which I really forgot to give gifts too. I was really impressed as they were both in clad gold that time like they were already shining. It was nice seeing him joke around again, as long as I was not the topic I was really fine with that. Rummy went to the dinner together with her husband Dexter, he's another Dexter. I never got to see her since we parted ways in college. So that's like 8 years I think so I kind of liked the fact that I get to see people that I haven't met in a long time. That was a record I think, but I would probably have to wait until I get to meet my high school friends and buddies too. I never had my wife around with me that time because she had her own places and relatives to go to. It's sad because I feel like when we meet like that and everyone has a partner around, I realize that I am still single. Not that I am in a hurry but I would probably get married sometime soon and that's going to be another story.

University of the East Engineering friends meets again @ Eastwood City

If I would have the chance to sit on Santa's lap and got a wish, it would be to see my friends. In this day and age I could have asked for material things knowing how capricious I am. The feeling I got when we met was more than what I could ever wish for. If someone were to ask me what I would like to have for Christmas, I already had it. The time with my friends was incomparable. These are little things that we should always be thankful for. If you want to make a wish and have it granted, you should check out http://www.sitonsantaslap.com/?utm_source=b and get to sit on Santa's lap like when you were a kid. I even had the chance to be included in his story with my memorable pictures of our dinner in C.E.I.V.A. Digital Photo Frames. C.E.I.V.A. is the inventor of the digital photo frames so you only get the best unlike cheap imitations out in the market. Make sure you enter the optional sweepstakes if you are 18 years old and a resident of the United States and/or Washington D.C.

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Monday, December 22, 2008

UE Caloocan... the times we reminisced...

I just got in the office after a short dinner and chit chat with my college friends... Man it was amazing to see their faces again... the stories were just never ending.

I hate the fact that we only meet once a year, but you know what?! it's kinda fine that we get to miss each other for once. One thing though, we all are happy... we ate a lot at Something Fishy... and drank a couple of rounds at Seafood Island... I got the chance to see people that I haven't seen since 2000 would you believe? It was nice, the company was reaaaaaly great... I just wish we do this often... well you know how busy we are... with work, and family too... I just miss them all I guess.. ^_^

I'll get a post scribbled once I get em pictures... I promised them I'd write one heheh... Man this is a nice Christmas... ^_^
