URCC Global’s COLOSSAL at the Araneta Coliseum

Wednesday, September 26, 2018

Spent the afternoon in a room full of testosterone at the press conference of URCC’s COLOSSAL, a global fight series hosted by URCC. It’s a league based here in the Philippines and the dream has come true for it’s founder as they venture into a global challenge series. They will partner with different leagues in different countries and bring them together and get in the ring for this big fight.

Mark and the Korean guy even got a little heated, haha

Arnold Vegafria says “This is the first series of URCC Global fight. I am happy and proud that we have a lot of Filipino and Korean fighters joining us in this league. This is a Filipino league and we are bringing it to the world. To all the fighters, you are the peace and goodwill ambassadors too.”

Founder of the URCC Alvin Aguilar says “It’s an honor to be here and we have the same vision. The weigh in will happen soon and we will also have something to do this Saturday, you have trained your whole lives for this. We will conquer the global stage. We have fighters from Brazil, we also have fighters from Korea too.”

Do Gyeom Lee says “It’s known Mark Streigl has ground work but he’s hasn’t got striking prowess. I am great overall. I don’t care about the opponent, I prepare just like in any fight. I am happy to be back in Manila, I did my second title defense in Araneta and I promise to put up a good show for the fans.”

Mark Streigl says “You never fought someone in my level before, we will get a title on Saturday. I have fought a lot of fighters like you before. A fight in araneta is just monumental, there is a lot of history there.”

COLOSSAL will happen on September 29, 2018 at the Araneta Coliseum. You’ll see the featherweight champion the undead Do Gyeum Lee from Korea, his challenger Mark Mugen Streigl from the Philippines (title match) and undercard matches. It’s composed of Caloy Baduria of Elorde Sucat vs Sugar Ray Estroso, a 3 on 3 match with Seung Hae Lee, Bum Suk Jang, Jun Bae Kim of South Korea versus Team Pilipinas’ Brian Paule, Mark Palomar, Patrick Dos Santos. They will also do a match for women with Geli Bulaong vs Ji Yeon Seon. There will be other matches so you better be ready once this happens.

SmartBro Hosts UFC205 Viewing Party

Sunday, November 13, 2016

We're at Skinny Mike's today to get down on the Octagon and watch UFC205 live from Madison Square Garden in New York City. It was live streamed using Smart Bro, the country's BIGGEST network has got the most stable connection to do this of course! I kinda woke up late so I missed the first few undercard fights but was able to catch everything starting from Jeremy Stephens and Frankie Edgar. I was rooting for Stephens but Edgar was awesome at his ground games. He's had a LOT of points in the first few rounds. True enough, the Jersey boy won it!

Meanwhile Colorado born Bantamweight fighter Racquel Pennington had to slug it out with number one contender Miesha Tate. Pennington was a great striker, even making Miesha back out a couple of times. Plus her short jabs were just hurting Miesha a LOT. Then after her loss, she announced that she's retiring. Another good looking woman gone from the contention of the Bantamweight belt.

The Chris Weidman and cuban Yoel Romero fight was surprising, I thought Romero would get this easy but Weidman had it done with wrestling moves. He did several things and dragged him like a rag doll, plus painful hits, and a barrage of attacks that smashed his Weidmans face to the floor making the so called soldier of gawd win it fast on the third round via TKO.

The UFC Strawweight Championship was a little emotional, as Karolina Kowalkowicz tried to get the championship belt from Joanna Jedrzejczyk which name I couldn't even pronounce. The cute Polish Princess gave her punches at the end of the 2nd round and the small spurts on the 3rd, but Jedrzejczyk just had all the numbers. She won it but we love the polish princess a LOT, we like her cute pose in every round haha!

You too can get a chance to watch every UFC fight by just being a Smart Bro subscriber! Thanks SmartBrokada for the treat!

My UFC202 Experience with Smart Bro!

Sunday, August 21, 2016

Testosterone driven men and sometimes women (I kid) filled Skinny Mike's Sports Bar in BGC today as we await the Diaz-McGregor fight at UFC. The stream is powered by SMART BRO and there were no hitches as we were watching it LIVE from Las Vegas. I caught a few undercard fights and man it was all so awesome! (Although yes, some backed out last minute which was lame haha)

But it looks like McGregor was winning the crowd. Passionate since the first hour, I'm hearing bets from them and still getting Diaz a fighting chance. Smart Bro gave out free drinks, free internet connection and tons of prizes in between fights! A table was even tagged as winning group since a lot of them got picked, sweet!

They also gave away fight night tickets to lucky smart bro subscribers plus a brand new spanking iPad 2 Mini!

(Screenies from UFC not mine) In the end, Conor McGregor proved to be the better fighter. That's just sad if you become a statistic for him.

He began striking Diaz early in the round and his legs were pretty much battered early on. His face was already beaten to a pulp. But Diaz also fought back since he wasn't able to do submission on any of the rounds. It's a great fight, but his 4 knockouts hurt him in the scores. I love MMA! UFC too!

Make sure Smart Bro is part of your Brokada viewing habit the next time you get your UFC Fight Pass! It's just the best experience ever! Congrats McGregor!

Cignal Welcomes Stephen Thompson in Manila

Thursday, February 25, 2016

We're at the Mall of Asia Music hall today to give you a glimpse on how we treat Stephen "The Wonderboy" Thompson a little Filipino welcome courtesy of our friends from Cignal. This is a tour arranged by the company and they dub it as "UFC & Cignal Presents: On the Rise, Stephen Thompson".

Cignal is gearing to expand in Asia and and MMA in the Philippines is rapidly growing. It's an opportune time to see the #2 in the Welterweight rankings, Stephen Thompson in the flesh. He knocked out Johnny Hendricks last February 6, so he's as fresh as it gets. Cignal will be broadcasting more fights on Hyper channel 53. He's loving the reception so far and now that he's in MOA, he hopes to get even closer to his Filipino fans!

They started by revealing Red Dela Cruz, the first Filipina UFC Octagon Girl. A really nice place to start.

Mark Eddiva from Team Lakay also joined in. He's officially the first full blooded Filipino to be in UFC, he hails from Baguio and traveled 6 hours just to be here. He actually is a Wushu gold medalist. Really humble guy too.

Then it was his turn, this is Stephen Thompson!

Stephen Thompson adds "It's not an easy task, you have to find a good gym and feel good about it, when you're confident, and they take care of you, you'll be a good fighter!".

Make sure you watch UFC on Cignal through Hyper HD. We loved him in person, we better love him even more watching his fights!

Thanks Cignal and Smart Bro for bringing him here in Manila!

NITSLOT: Not In The Same Level Of Thinking

Thursday, May 20, 2010

I got into a fight today. Some people really don't have breeding. You know what that is?! If you do then go ahead and read this post. If not, I suggest you go to other blog sites and see if they have something for you. This would be scary.

I am pissed at people who can't understand simple things. I don't have the patience on understanding why these mongrels get out of school and don't learn a single thing. Their English skills? HORRIBLE. What's worst is they don't even admit their faults. They don't know how to understand what breeding means. They even admittedly tell people they don't have that.

What I don't really know is how in the world would I be able to have them understand what I mean when they are not even capable of thinking in the first place. Haaaa stress is coming to me. I wouldn't want to do this but hey, sometimes I just gotta point out that not everyone has the same level of thinking. =(

Rant off.

Congratulations Manny Pacquiao!

Tuesday, May 05, 2009

With all the other blogs doing their congratulatory remarks on the greatest pound for pound fighter in the world Manny Pacquiao, this is my turn to do the same. I hope I don't sound redundant to everybody else who made their articles but I am amazed how he performed in this last fight. We thought it was going to be a close one but nobody knew it was only going to last 2 rounds. People did not even finish eating their popcorns or drink their colas in the coliseums and live broadcast gymnasiums here in Manila. This was the same feeling as with the people in the UK because for over the 750,000 pesos ticket they paid for, it was really too short to watch. I guess I did kind of got a hunch that it would be a short match because judging from the moves he made early in the rounds, his face was already being pummeled a lot. With that in mind, I was not also surprised at some point that he will be knocking him down. Pacquiao is just a power puncher and he would be blind not to see the openings of Hatton's defense.

On the second round, Manny did not use his left hand that much and with Hatton thinking he would not do it at all... he released a humongous blow to the jaw that shook Hatton's body to the ground. Falling back first he laid on the mat oblivious to everything around him. More like a suttle end to his illustrious career. Today he is really thinking of retiring and hanging his gloves. At least he got a few million pounds for that match right? I mean I would retire if I earned that much haha!

Congratulations to Manny Pacquiao... I am proud to be a Filipino... I am proud of you!
