Remarkable Growth: DigiPlus Set to Establish SG Based Global Office

Bullish is a big word but we think it's the apt one to describe the folks from DigiP|us Interactive Corporation as they are all set to establish an international hub in finance hub Singapore. They are the premiere digital entertainment corp in the Philippines and the plan is to put up DigiP|us Global Pte Ltd or DigiP|us Global which will be based in the merlion country.

It will be a center for their talent acquisitions, partnerships which is part of their overall strategy, something that they hope to do for the long  term.

Their Chairman Eusebio Tanco sees this an ideal place for their goals of hiring more professionals, and enhance their international presence especially in the ASEAN region where they are based at.

Currently DigiP|us operates various brands Bing0P|us, ArenaP|us, GameZ0ne and are based in the Philippines. DigiP|us Global will be their base for corporate functions and operations which means they will not engage in any gam|ing operations to follow SG regulations.

Filipino Actor DINGDONG DANTES is POLICE LIFESTYLE's Global Brand Ambassador on its 40th Anniversary

God must have spent a little more time on Primetime King Dingdong Dantes when he made him. He's a very talented actor, host, Dad to Zia and Sixto and a loving husband to the queen Marian Rivera-Dantes. He's very passionate with sports, motorcycles, and just about any adrenaline inducing activity. He also does it with style, panache and swag without even trying to.

 

He's the perfect fit to represent Police Lifestyle. They have been in the industry for 40 years. Today, he's been hailed as the first and only Filipino brand ambassador together with British F1 Racer Lewis Hamilton. In fact, they've already graced a huge billboard in New York City's Times Square.  Executives from the brand graced the event yesterday at Ideal Vision and Watch Republic at SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City. 

To mark the special occasion, Mr. Dantes was awarded with a special edition POLICE 40th Anniversary Sunglasses with serial number 001. Their call is "AUDACITY WANTED", a term to describe their products and a man's ability to not just exude machismo, but to make it evolved and timeless.

Here are some highlights from the event and a few minutes of the interview that was facilitated by the fabulous Frank Briones, the President of Thinline Advertising. We also included a few minutes to showcase the watches and eyewear that was on display at Ideal Vision and Watch Republic. Dingdong Dantes also went to these stores to say hi to patrons, fans, and the staff. Man was able to spend time taking photos with them too. It was so gracious of him to do that despite his busy schedule.

XOXO Unleashes New Upbeat OPM Song GLNG (Go Lang Ng Go!)

I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that we miss XOXO. They're GMA's premiere girl group that's got super powerful vocals, and has very successful individual acting careers too. Members Lyra, Dani, Real and Mel started the event quite excited, showing why they're one of the most sought after performers by telling stories that made us all roll in laughter prior to them singing. They've got A LOT of personality, they can work out a crowd and get away with it. They're also great ambassadors of body positivity and about loving who you are no matter what color, race or ethnicity is. They pointed out how varied they are and proved how talent, music, encompasses everything!

This foray to OPM is somewhat a new endeavor for them. They made sure it's got dance, more upbeat than usual because it's something that is supposed to inspire you when you're down. It's something that could encourage you to learn, and leave those worries behind especially when you're with people who support you like friends and family. This is where they say "Go Lang ng Go!", here's where they performed it for us that evening!

I didn't get to talk to her after the show, but she's my bias if you could say that. If you haven't seen Muriel on TikTok, you should definitely give her a follow. She's not only entertaining, showcasing her powerful vocals there, but takes time to tell different stories that touch the heart, interacting with her fans is certainly something that she does quite good, but something tells me she's gotten busy that she doesn't stream live as much anymore, but that's a good thing. It only means they're rising, doing performances not just in the country, but abroad too. 

Which reminds me, Lyra, Dani, Real and Mel will be at the Best of P-POP and S-POP Concert this coming June 11. It will be held at the Esplanade Recital Studio and is produced by AOR Global Pte. Ltd. so make sure you get your tickets prior to the show. Acer Launches Chromebook Vero 514 and Showcased Green Sustainable Production

It's the ACER Green Day celebrations this morning and starting off the festivities, they showed us all about ACER GREEN DAY.

Acer CEO Jason Chen says "We have been doing the Carbon Disclosure Program to our supply chain since 2008. This year we are doing it in three tiers, from starting to increase recycled content in our notebook packaging, to having our Acer wide eco-friendly initiatives and green philosophy through Project Humanity, bringing sustainability efforts to all our supply chain through Earthion last year, and launching the Acer Vero line in 2021 that sets the bar for Eco Friendly laptops, we now have expanded the Vero to include the TravelMate Laptops bringing us to numerous awards for our efforts, we are not working on smart solutions for a better tomorrow."

 

Innovative smart solutions for everyday lives is a tall order but they have been working with partner agencies and government institutions to make it happen. They want a connected and sustainable lifestyle for you and me. They are gearing to be 100 percent sustainable in 2035. The Vero product line also started the ball rolling for green innovations for Acer's 3 other product lines. They introduced the new Acer Chromebook Vero 514. It took a whole town, but they have made lots of progress now. From materials, packaging to logistics, everyone chipped in to make this happen.

Cooperation in Tech to Fight Global Challenges

Huawei just concluded the Huawei TrustInTech Summit 2021 a few days ago online. The theme this year was about "Global Collaboration for Shared Value" which is very timely especially with the challenges we're facing today.


Dignitaries present in the event include Neil Bush the Chairman of George H.W. Bush Foundation for US-China Relations, Pascal Lamy the Former Director General of the WTO, William Nordhause Nobel Prize winner in Economics for 2018, HE Satvinder Singh the Deputy Secretary General for the ASEAN Economic Community, Derrick Pitts of NASA Solar System Ambassador and Huawei's Senior Vice President and also President of Huawei Digital power. The session includes topics about current challenges in the economy and a cal for global concerted efforts for environmental protection, tech and other key areas was done to face these challenges in the new normal. There has been no perfect time to do it but now especially in these conditions. Satvinder Singh said that the role of private corporations like Huawei would do good especially in assuring inclusive and sustainable economic recovery happens in the region. There has been a lot of opportunity to help especially in trade, transportaion, health, ICT work and climate that Huawei has been doing in recent years. He reiterates that investing in these solutions and setting aside differences would power growth especially in ASEAN as it still has room to do that in the next few years.

Hou on the other hand says that this is part of Huawei Digital Power's devotion to making ways for clean power generation in an effort to have low carbon footprint in every habitable city around the world. Green sourced energy amount to 443.5 billion kWh and savings of about 13.6 Billion kWh has been done since their efforts started. This includes the Philippines wherein they've built power plants from solar and other sources.

Amazon Holds Global Selling Expo-Seller Bootcamp

If you've heard of Amazon and have no idea how it works (especially if you're planning to sell there), we're in the same boat. Recently, they held the "2021 Amazon Expo -  Seller Bootcamp" aimed to introduce micro, small and medium enterprises to a more global e-commerce platform and how the Amazon framework can help build a business with a worldwide audience.

A recent survey comissioned by Amazon Global Selling marked the Philippines to have the highest number of homegrown sellers compared to other ASEAN countries. This accounts for a greater number of Filipino MSME's that have no access or opportunities to do cross border business, amidst the high demand of online shopping in online channels, apps, through digital models. Mr. Bernard Tay, the Head of Amazon Global Selling in Southest Asia says "The Philippines currently has a very young but fast developing e-commerce industry. MSME's in this region need to develop understanding and implementing cross border operations and international logistics. This Seller bootcamp would be a great opportunity especially for small businesses so they could identify gaps in procedures and arm themselves with the know-how, assets and network that would be able to bring their business to the world through Amazon."

They have gotten over 1.3K MSME's that have registered in the bootcamp which is a virtual event that spans 3 days so they get to listen to experts discussing subjects such as cross country payments, how to ship, taxation, flow of prospect customers and complexities of marketing. This was done after data was released from Cross Border E-commerce Awareness and Perception Reports that embodied over 1,600 MSME respondents coming from Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines wherein they pinpointed a lack of information in cross country e-commerce. This sector was also forecasted to grow by 30% in 2026 which is why they want to equip them through innovative programs that would help them grow into a global business and adapt to the digital transformation every country is going through. Challenges include supply chain and logistics, costs, and competition versus other international sellers in the Amazon platform. Amazon is in the process of building a state of the art fulfillment and delivery system that does Fulfillment by Amazon (which they have done in other countries) so the company picks it up, packs it and ship, and also provide customer service for the products they sell. Logistics providers were also invited in the bootcamp to explain how it works, how it is managed and tell them how to take on these challenges. The Philippine MSME's puts this as their top concern, then their readiness.

Amazon has built resources for MSME's in the region and around the world so businesses could expand easier. Combined with the efforts of each industry stakeholders and governments of each country, they've continued to grow together with their seller partners. This will be a good accompaniment to their current Seller University nad hundreds of tools and services present in Amazon's channels around the world. Look it up, it may just be your time to shine!

Meet the Movement Called GLOPM

In the eve of Filipinos making huge strides in the music industry, it's time to go global as Warner Music Philippines launches this movement called "GLOPM".

WMP Managing Director Sarah Ismail says "GLOPM is a collaborative movement to promote Filipino talent around the world. Now, we have Filipino artists who have been able to work and connect with international producers and this is why we should support GLOPM! The Filipino artist is truly world class!"

Warner Music Philippines A&R Manager Kelley Mangahas adds "The initiative will enhance the release of music, to learn from each other. We wanted to break through the international scene. We realized, we needed to learn best practices, it's knowledge transfer from people who have done it internationally."

Filipino Canadian Producer August Rigo (who did great work Justin Bieber and BTS among other great international artists) said "There are so many of us down here in North America but for sure there's a disconnect somewhere that there's actual talent in the Philippines. I feel like we should connect. I just think the girls (Leanne and Naara) have amazing talent, I feel I really trust the music they're creating. Usually what happens is that they send me a demo vocal, I kinda take that and mold it to a direction that puts the song out, we're like 10,000 miles away and it's a very collaborative effort. They trust what they are bringing to the table, I feel that they're not even in the beginning of their potential. They have so much to offer with their music. It's not like throwing in the international sound, we had to take music rooted in the Philippines and it's a great time to tap back into our culture. We keep a piece of that. These girls, they really did a thing about that."  

Leanne and Naara says "Hello everyone! We're very excited because even in the start of our career, we wanted to push Filipino talent outside the country. We're very grateful to be part of it. We're on the way to introducing it outside, globally, hopefully continuously so they could appreciate how much it'll go. It's very easy to work with August Rigo, he was fast, he got the vibe. We sent him a couple of songs, we went on the studio and worked on it and recorded a voice note so he knows the direction of the song. It was awesome to see that. In some way, we created this bond beyond music. It's easy for us to work together because there's no ego at all, it's the passion we share for music, I feel good to hear what he has to say. He's very down to earth, we find chemistry, it's smooth sailing because of that. It is part of the plan to release early next year an EP, hope everything turns out good. Please support GLOPM, Anticipation is just one of the songs in this album, we're very happy to be part of it. Thanks to everyone who has been part of this! To be honest, I love the guitar riffs, I was like in the zone. I love how we played around to release tension."

 

 

The GLOPM album also includes "Back to the Times" by artists REON (Reanne and Noah). Music video was shot in Ormoc, Leyte. I could liken it to Imagine Dragons, pretty cool stuff. They worked with producer Xerxes Bakker (EU/Nordic based Grammy Award Nominated Music Producer).

 

Artist Quest told us proudly that "Being part of the GLOPM campaign, I am very excited because its long overdue. We're flooded with world class talent, I could tell 20 other ones that can take over my place. I'm part of the pioneer roster, I'm sure it's going to be more in the lineup, I'm excited to every other deserving OPM artist. I worked with KUYA Productions, I thought they were the missing piece, it took us three zoom meetings to finish one song, amazing because I now understand the level of talent they put in. I learned the ins and outs, Sammy and Bobby are two amazing guys. Yes they are international producers, but they're beautiful partners to have. (Tee, Sammy, Bobby, and Ian of KUYA Productions). We had this concept and idea, they modernized it."

KUYA Productions Sammy G adds "We weren't really presented with the opportunity before, what's great is that they're connecting Filipino artists with world class talents. Please support these songs, we're excited to put out more stuff!"

 

Catriona Gray says "It's challenging to be an artist during these times, it's difficult to remain inspired, you don't get to interact, you don't get to travel, but you have the opportunity to think deeper, to learn more about myself in a deeper context. I am drawn to emotional music, in a way, it's allowed me to become emotionally driven. I haven't written, this process was a bit hard, we took months to work with Kabu and wanting to have more affirmation in a relationship is something that is relatable to anyone, it's a love language and you have to work on it every single day. It's an easy collaboration, the result is something to be proud of! Love Language is available now on streaming platforms!"

Sydney based Producer Cabu adds "No matter what effort Cat puts here is crazy. She came to Sydney to record, it was smooth and super open to ideas. She was doing it so fast took easy, it was amazing, I was nervous. Thanks to Cat and Alex at Warner. I am thankful to be part of GLOPM!"

The way to support this movement is easy, listen to every track they come out with and enjoin others to do the same. Support the artists, support the music, and let the world know how Filipino music is worthy of praise. I learned a lot about music production and passion comes in play, they're just full of that and you can't discount what we've known all along, the Filipino is world class. The world hasn't realized how great and talented our people are. They will know soon. Kudos to Warmer Music for taking initiative.

PSY, SHINee, CNBLUE + MORE for ONE K Global Peace Concert In Manila

This news is just CRAZY.

I just got hold of this news today. And when I found out who's going to come to the Philippines I already freaked out. I honestly thought it was just going to be a small one but seeing PSY, SHINee, CNBLUE, B1A4, BAP, BTOB and my favorite ladies from AOA... this is huge!

But what actually is more impressive is the cause o this campaign. World Peace? Is it acheivable? Is it possible? Yes it is. This campaign is asking for international support together with 800 non governmental organizations calling for the reunification of Korea. Seo In-teck Co-chair of Action for Korea United (AKU) and President of the Global Peace Foundation Korea Chapter says they want to push for this civic-led campaign for Korean reunification, a development that could help promote regional stability and build a new economic powerhouse in Asia. This is monumental if you think about it and having these artists in one place already means a lot, because they believe in the cause and they are putting together Korea's biggest artists at the Mall of Asia on March 2-3, 2017. Party starts at 7PM and you're not just having a great show, you'll also be helping achieve dreams of our neighbors as they become ONE KOREA!

Smart also introduced FREE Internet so usage is becoming part of normal rituals in Filipino lives. The more people online, the more they take advantage of the technology. Singing in the shower couldn't be so wonderful without it playing your favorite songs, streaming the best tracks, playlists in the country. It doesn't have to be expensive either!

Congratulations Spinnr! I can't wait to see the Spinnr Awards also this year! I hope the best music tracks, and artists in my list would end up winning most of the awards! When I heard Baskin Robbins, I had to say yes immediately. It's name doesn't only mean ice cream.. but you would need to think about the flavors, the textures and varieties that comes with it. I can even say, that it takes a lifestyle to make heads and appreciate it. I was so glad to have heard of the news that they opened their first full blown store in the Philippines.

It's located at the mall found in the Central Square, Bonifacio Global City. I immediately peeked at the chest freezer and found my favorite flavors already there. Pistacho just sounds so good in my books.

Now you've got the chance to get your Milkshake, scoops and build your own sundaes! Nobody said you can't have 2 or 3 scoops in your freshly made wafer bowls too. Top it off with chocolate syrup, nuts, whipped cream and cherry on top... it's just made of dreams! We also saw hunky Azkal Anton Del Rosario and wife Samantha Richelle - Del Rosario enjoying the sundaes with their super cute kid! He also remembered me since I have interviewed him in other presscons before. I love them. His wife was also so gorgeous in that classic 60's pinup-esque outfit. Don't they look adorable? :) They truly love Baskin Robbins!

When we almost thought the ice cream and chit chat was enough for the event, they went in and surprised us with a mob dance courtesy of The Philippine All Stars!

 These guys and gals also grabbed some of the kids on the sidelines so they can dance with them in the middle of the new mall. By the way, I've only seen SSI brands on this mall. I think this place is theirs. Although Baskin and Robbins is managed by a local company, things are imported as well. It was much of a happy day!

The Electrolux Housewarming Party

I arrived a little late at the new Electrolux office in Bonifacio Global City a couple of days ago. Although from afar, I heard a familiar voice from one of my favorite DJ's on Philippine radio Delamar Arias - one of the hosts of my most favorite radio show in the entire world The Morning Rush on RX93.1. I've been wishing to see these guys for a long time but I haven't seen them together since the Bactidol campaign. Today, Delle was here to host a very special day for Electrolux and yes they have moved into a very nice and upscale office in the Fort. It was really nice for them to invite us over and take a look at their newest products including their endorsers too.

Ms. Janice Villanueva and Delle were preparing something on the kitchen when we got there. This is their open faced fish panini. I guess it's about the same process in cooking but it was made easier by making it with just a few steps. Mixing the onions, tomatoes, spices and other ingredients, lay them on top of the fish, put them on top of the panini and bake until brown. I think I've gotten the hang of this because I do cook. I think their dish was special though because they got to use the Electrolux oven and made it in minutes! Voila!

 

It's even healthier and really tasty, made with love by Ms. Janice Villanueva. It passed the standards of Delle, so that says a lot. It was during this time that I also saw Delle's cute as a button son Cooper who was sitting on the side. It was like a short family gathering really. This new Elextrolux office looked so homey despite of its urban flair.

Then I saw my favorite Chef in the world Chef Bruce Lim (Nigella Lawson comes a close second for obvious reasons LOL). I still distinctly remember meeting this guy for the first time during an Electrolux event last year and I've seen him a couple of times since. I've learned a lot and still enjoy to catch his show on the Asian Food Channel every now and then. It's so great that he's one of the personalities endorsing for the brand because he's got it all. 

He also showed us around the kitchen and told us about this great refrigerator here. The thing is, he showed his romantic side hehe. He usually writes notes on the fridge door directly and says how he goes about using it everyday. A proud father, it's also the place where he posts his sons drawings. If it can make the wear and tear of kids and his busy cooking, I don't think anyone will have problems working with Electrolux appliances in your homes. He made us a fast and easy pasta dish using Pene, mushroom and cream. Ahhh.. I had seconds of course! Thanks Chef for a wonderful meal!

When a short raffle was held, they dropped the bowl and did the greatest thing that evening. They gave us each a brand new Microwave Oven! Woot! Thank you so much to the executives of Electrolux and CONGRATULATIONS on your new home at the Bonifacio Global City! Can't wait to see more of your events there as you launch new products in the coming years!
