Possibilities Unfurled on Recent ISP Hosting

Saturday, November 15, 2025

If you've been hearing a lot of buzz surrounding the recent hosting of the International Series Philippines where golf superstars arrived in the country, this just unfurled the possibilities of what more we can do with the sport which was hosted by B!ng0P|us Foundation, the social arm of the folks from D!giP|us Interactive Corp. This has made really good waves in the local scene as those who love the sport took a few days to immerse themselves in international level of competition including local athletes who had experience in the course.

This is one of the things they wanted to do as part of their goals in sports development which was reiterated by D!giP|us Chair Eusebio Tanco. He said this is also part of their commitment in Philippine sports, putting their foot where their mouth is including a whopping 17.2 million pesos as donations for entities such as the Philippine Sports Commission, National Golf Association of the Philippines, the Asian Development Tour and an NGO called Sisidlan Rizal Weavers who had a chance to showcase their products front and center. They mentioned how this would help the PSC to fund training in different sports programs, something that would make dreams come true for the next gen athletes.

This meant 100,000 USD for the Asian Development Tour and 50,000 USD for NGAP to secure a slot for a Filipino golfer in the international series so they could get to experience the same level of sport against champions. They also have 500,000 php to Sisidlan Rizal Weavers (much of whom members are women) to further help them in the business including their participation at the event's Welcome Gala and at the LIV Golf Music Fest where tons of folks enjoyed some of the country's greatest acts. This is just a part of what they do to multiply the good in the community, for education and also health. That's just one of many initiatives they plan to accomplish in this side of the world. Congratulations D!giP|us!

Oakley Hosts 6th Golf Cup for Junior Golfers League

Saturday, June 23, 2018

With a good cause, this should be told.

International brand OAKLEY just held their 6th Golf Cup at Pradera Verde grounds in Lubao, Pampanga. This is for the benefit of The Junior Golfers League which is the developmental league for the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines. The event was also hosted by James Deakin but they did it with a twist as the theme they selected this time was about Rock and Roll Music + Golf so all the holes in the course were not as normal as it should. Together with the holes, they also needed to do this with tons of loud rock music, spotlights, sprinklers and obstacles too.

They also took time after the festivities to give a donation of a whopping Php 100,000 after they announced their winners and promise to support the athletes and hone them as future representatives of the country. Among the players were kids who are not financially capable to play this sport, but were all so extremely talented. The money will go to the sports programs of TJGL as they also join international competitions in the US and elsewhere in the world. Oakley believes in them, this is just a step making these talented kids achieve their dreams

Raymund Lacdao got the Men's Division Class A championship while James Linao and Eric Dela Rosa took B and C. In the ladies division, Vangie Omlang got the Championship for Class A, Josh Jorge for Boys Division Champion, and Mariel Tee for the Girls Division.

Oakley is one of the leading brands of golf products and accessories in the world. With it's partnership with sports organizations like this one, they would be able to develop talent from the ground up. It's a bright future for our future golfers, it's a good thing.

CONVERSE Proves White Chucks Goes With Anything

Tuesday, November 07, 2017

Sunsets in my hood with White Chucks, a classic that never goes out of style.
I've had a ton of stories with Converse in mind, but the ones with White Chucks on them stand out.

I always had an inkling with colored chucks because I'm the OC type. White Chucks for me meant it was going to be hard to maintain, I would be horrible with it because it would be full of mud and stuff in just one night. So in a nutshell, I've never owned one like now. One that was close was a little off white (which was plain canvass which was released a couple of years ago). During sale events of Converse, I usually buy those that have really loud colors, really funky designs and did shy away from white ones because I knew how hard it would be to actually keep it. Although I've often wondered why people have continued to HOARD the classic white chucks ALL THE TIME whenever it's on the shelves, I've seen a LOT of people get it by huge bags full and I'm not even joking!

Lo and behold I've met my first ever WHITE CHUCKS!
Converse must have been alarmed about what I was thinking and told us in a big event at Le Reve in Quezon City that the famed WHITE CHUCKS can go with ANYTHING. Now that's a BIG pronouncement right there and honestly I do have my reservations, but you know what? I've seen people with WHITE CHUCKS actually do it for real. During the event, they set out the whole venue to hold the CONVERSE WHITE PARTY, figured they can dress anyone and still pair those White Chucks with anything. Case in point, my blogger friends Ruth and Rodel (photo courtesy of our friends from NognogintheCity.com):

Put them in a RED or BLUE outfit, no problem. White Chucks goes with anything!
Now I've seen it all, they were clad in different colors like red, blue, yellow, but all confidently carrying these clothes with the right kind of shoes, it was like the WHITE CHUCKS was meant to be word with them. They're absolutely right, these white chucks CAN go with anything!

I wore my pair of WHITE CHUCKS during a high school reunion last week. All eyes on the shoes!
I wore these shoes during our high school reunion last week and it was like nostalgia. It fit right in with our 90's theme and if my hunch was right, almost everyone in my class had their own Converse shoes on too. With GREEN hair, BROWN trousers, GRAY shirt and a LEATHER jacket, it all fit right in with my look that evening and I was getting complements left and right. It didn't matter when I was already looking like a COLORWHEEL that night because I wore that lovely comfy pair. It still went with my look... and I was happy. After the festivities and drinks, I got a little woozy, I looked at my shoes and it had smudges on them.

I stood up and went to the men's room, pulled a couple of paper towels and poured water on it. I gently wiped the dirt off, while my classmate went in and wondered why I was frantic, why I was on the floor doing all that. He knew what I was doing and said "Hey man, don't worry too much about it! It's WHITE Chucks, it's supposed to be dirty because without it, it won't have character." then went about his business. I guess he's right, I shouldn't worry about that at all. I mean I am really too worried about small things and he's right, after a few days I've worn my Chucks with all that dirt. It still looked fine, and people don't even bother. It now has character. :)

CONVERSE is right. The WHITE CHUCKS goes with anything. You might be a skeptic like me, but with all those days I've worn these, it has been proven. Now for those who also want news from them, I've heart they also have released the second wave of TYLER THE CREATOR's collaboration with Converse.

Jolly Green, Solar Power and Vanilla from Tyler the Creator and Converse.
This is part of the new Golf Le Fleur collection and is now exclusively available at Converse branches in Commonwealth and SM Aura for only Php 5,990.

Go head on to the Converse Philippines Facebook page and follow the ConversePH Instagram account for more details. Thank you CONVERSE for everything!

Swedish Brand J.Lindeberg Lands in the Philippines

Sunday, November 03, 2013

I've known this brand for quite a while now because I often see it being worn by my Dad, Uncles and their friends when I go with them on golf rounds within city limits. They are more on an upscale classy design and not as casual as most shirts in the markets. I've seen them also worn by PGA tourney champions and players which means it's undoubtedly, one of the best.

I heard they set up shop at the SM Premier Aura and got invited to a show in BGC but I wasn't able to catch it. I did the next best thing and mad my co blogger Myke Soon of mixofeverything.blogspot.com.

Just so you know some noted celebrities have worn J. Lindeberg like Brad Pitt, Brad Pitt and Brad Pitt among others LOL. Johan Lindeberg founded this brand in 1996, launched simultaneously in Stockholm and New York. It has definitely come a long way.

Here, my friend Myke sports one of J Lindeberg's jackets that super comfy and fits him perfectly. I checked out some of their clothes and hand picked some of my favorites.

I loved this two button thread textured blue jacket that's perfect for formal to dressed occasions. You must try it on and see if the seams in the shoulder would not look too loose. The shirt on the right was also nice. Even though it's round neck it would probably show neck lines which I like on black, white and dark olive green shades. Too good in fact that I got that and took it home. :)

If I were a little thinner I would have had this one on the left. Golfers must be so thankful to the person who invented the dryfit fabric. The one on the right is a golfers shirt also. Both are pretty good.

When we visited the store in SM Aura Premier, the shirts just became sweeter. There's some top quality products here!

I also like this coat on the left which was quite unusual in color. It's not one of those black or blue ones which men usually wear. I feel the same with the shirts on this rack.

This pink shirt got my attention. I love this because of the color and the cut on the bottom which isn't too uneven. Perfect for me. Someone get this for me please. Thanks! LOL

Now this full ensemble looks really good for executives or juniors who can afford it. Simple, yet very classy. It's not too formal because of the plaid shirts used in this bit. You can even opt for the sweater if you prefer. Really good.

Classy leather shoes, non conventional colored golf shoes plus the black and white spiked ones were really nice. I like the gray one most but I bet it ain't going to be nice on real road, or walk worthy if it ain't grass.

They've got belts, caps and other accessories that you should check out too. It's logo and quality would tell you J. Lindeberg did their homework. Now that there's a brand worthy of your exquisite taste, why don't you take time off and give them a visit in Rockwell or their store in SM Aura Premier. If you want the best, J. Lindeberg has got that covered.

My Golf Dreams

Friday, January 08, 2010

Some of you probably know that I do have a big handicap. No it is not that sort of ailment you are thinking about, but a handicap at golf. I dreamed of it again this evening. I play every time my Uncle asks me to tag along in local country clubs and it is so relaxing. It is the symphony of emotions and game play that makes this a worthwhile hobby to get. This is quite expensive here in the Philippines but if you think about the other places we could go to then you will be exquisitely addicted!

Like the newly renovated fairway at the Georgia Golf Resort which houses the King and Prince Golf Course and the world renowned Hampton Club. If I only had one wish then it would be this ideal destination. I want to feel the breeze and smell the fresh cut grass of the King and Prince Golf Course. I would not want anything less. We probably just need to listen to people who have experienced the place first hand. I would also want to check out their packages if my trips come late this year pushes through.

Watch out for that golf ball hitting your window pane soon! Ha-ha! I'll be there!

The Dream German Golf Holiday

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

I was watching Amazing Race Asia this morning and one of the destinations they went to was Hamburg, Germany. I fell in love with the picturesque sights that was shown in that 30 minute part of the show because it was a combination of artistic and nice tourist attractions. It is a dream wedding destination and I could not help but smile a little every time they pass by large architectural buildings that spelled photography for me. It would really be nice if I could come there one day and take a lot of pictures since that is one great frustration for me.

Aside from that, if I retire one of these days from this busy work I have been doing for the past 5 years I would probably think of this city to play one of my favorite sports which is golf. Golf in the Philippines is a little expensive and would usually need exclusive memberships that cost around 3 Million Pesos. I do not have many luxurious vices and I was offered this a few years ago, but with that amount it is just not that practical anymore. Golf and similar establishments in Germany has been given much importance by the parliament. Without their support it would not be too easy to weather the world financial crisis because most businesses suffered a lot in the past few months. Not to mention some of the world renowned beer gardens shutting down operation so they could at least pay off their employees.

Golfreisen has been one way to make good business in this industry as more and more tourists flock to this first world country. With the packages they offer for professional or non professional golfers from outside Germany, one can never resist playing in their world class courses. I remember when Colin Montgomery played in the early 90's where no one could beat him for 2 straight years. He really enjoyed the German Open course because it is at par with the world's best. The designs were made from professional golfers and architects and you can see it evidently as he played through each hole. I envy him a lot and would give anything to experience that.

I hope someday, somehow I could get myself a Platzreife (a German golf license) so when the time comes that I get the chance to have a long golf ridden vacation... Germany would be my next destination. I just hope the next few strokes I play would not be just in local ones by then. I hope I get the chance to play in larger tournaments and not just charity ones which I often end up with. Not that I am complaining but it would be nice to do this professionally. That is another dream! Ha-ha!

The Perfect Swing

Monday, February 23, 2009

I like many of you only get the chance to watch golf in local television every once in a while. I seldom go out with my Uncle who plays this particular game religiously because I don't have equipment of my own and the sport does not like me that much to put it in nice words. The rule of the game is simple and you have got to only get the golf ball into the holes with few strokes as possible. The time I went to a local golf course people was just warming up because the tournament only would start a couple of hours from the time I arrived. The driving range was almost full but we were able to hit a few balls before the actual game. Since it was not a game I played that much, I needed more time to learn it obviously.

I hit the golf balls and sometimes I miss it. Quite understandable said my Uncle but he knew if I set my mind into it, I would probably play better than him. Not to brag but even if I was a novice at that time, he did not think twice in letting me join their tournament since that is for charity. I told him that I'll try my best of course and he was proud of me because some veteran golfers there were already looking at me hitting the golf balls farther. Some of them even asked if I played professionally which I gladly brushed off since I did spill a couple of shots while at play. When it started I was really nervous because the irons and woods were new to me and my Uncle played caddy because I didn't know what to use at that time. He even was telling me what to use while playing because I almost used a putter for a long drive. That part was really hilarious because there were some of the wives and young daughters watching me too. This Golfurlaub is getting me a little bit publicized I know and it’s good that I’m getting to know more people as I play along. I shook the hand of numerous politicians from my town and the national government so I was surprised by this gesture. I played fine all in all but I could have fared better without my Uncle’s friends heckling every time I missed a shot. Golf Reisen is a good way to spend time with your family. It might have been the first time I joined a tournament that big but I’m glad that I was able to play with some of the best Philippine players for that charity event. There would be medical missions after that golf tournament because that is the sole beneficiary. Golfreisen is a website you can go to for the latest German made golf equipments and accessories. Make sure you visit them if you need help making that perfect swing a reality.
