UnionBank Launches UPAY

Wednesday, November 17, 2021

Union Bank of the Philippines just recently held its 12th E-Media TalkTales to talk about how UnionBank SME Business Banking can help MSMEs start their business through UPAY, an all in one fully digital payment acceptance hub.

James Ileto the Head of Corporate Media for Unionbank says "We're in the golden age of E-Commerce in the Philippines and a lot of businesses have registered their businesses online. The enterprising nature of Filipinos is seen to continue in the next few months. It's growth, and higher demand for digital payments happens as economic recovery trails in the country. Unionbank is empowering Filipino entrepreneurs which is why we're launching an MSME solution today."

Jaypee Soliman the VP for Customer Segment Management Head for Unionbank says "More than a million of MSME's have registered in the recent year, it's an area of huge opportunities especially because of factors that have forced us to transform digitally. The MSME segment is vast, but customer interaction should be common. Digital channels should be taken advantage to reach more clients. 34.5 percent now have bank accounts and digital payments to stay connected with customers. Shopee, Lazada, social media platforms, even Viber are putting up seller platforms. Storefronts should have digital payments. The need to digitize payment collection should be easy to understand, properly be accounted for. We at Unionbank went straight to customers, businesses don't need fancy solutions, but relevant ones. It's not about the business alone, but the community. It's about customer experience, who is there to help them? Platforms for MSME's have been in Unionbank that are specially designed for MSME entrepreneurs. From opening bank accounts, business loans, local and international bank transfers, bill payments, mobile check payments and more. This is UPAY for MSME's. It's got fully digital entrollment and instant activation, showcases multi channel collection capabilities, usability in multiple types of transactions, low cost entry."

Gerry Austria the Merchant Acquiring Payment Gateway Head for Unionbank says "The numbers are promising especially to our existing MSME clients. Clients have access to the app, in a month or two, they will be more aware and getting UPAY for MSME's out there. This app will level the playingfield than bigger merchants. Previously only bigger corporations have access to it, we're making it easier. Around 1 Million businesses is our target, ambitious, but perhaps more. When we designed UPAY we wanted to do away with the hassles to set up payments. We made it accessible, not much forms, just download the app. You don't need to be in the actual store for someone to pay you, you just create payment links and send it to the customer. Convenient to all parties."

This is convenient and knowing that it's all digital is reassuring. I can't wait to try it out myself soon!

Watch Joel Lamangan’s LOCKDOWN via GMovies

Tuesday, August 03, 2021

I'd go on to say that LOCKDOWN has been Direk Joel Lamangan's best work yet. It talks about a young overseas Filipino worker (OFW) that has been affected by the pandemic. He lost work, came home to the Philippines and found himself struggling, forcing him to work and enter the grueling world of cyber $3x so he could provide for himself, his family.

This film stars new Star Magic talent Paolo Gumabao, son of then politician and actor Dennis Roldan. He plays the role of Danny Asuncion in a script written by Troy Espiritu. GMovies and Upstream.PH partnered up so they can show this to a wider audience, and make the experience of paying for a movie seamless, secured, especially during these times.

You can download the GMovies app on Google Play or App Store if you're in iOS. You may also visit GMovies.ph for more information about it. This is an R18 film, so please make sure you're old enough to watch it.

Perks on Paying Bills via PAYMAYA

Thursday, May 13, 2021

If you haven't felt the convenience of PayMaya, I do think this is the time you should try it out. Imagine having over 550 billers in the app, you won't need applications from individual companies just to pay for your usual utilities, government offices, banks, insurance, loans, credit card, schools and charities.

What's even better is that you don't need to leave the comforts of your home just to pay bills and access your bank accounts online to cash in your PayMaya account so you can pay accordingly. Plus, tons of organizations have their own PayMaya accounts wherein you can join bayanihan efforts by accessing it too on the app. They also have integrated billers from other locales like Baguio, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Bicol, Cebu, Cagayan De Oro, South Cotabato, Iligan, Zamboanga and others. So if your utility provider is different from the ones in Manila, you can see them there too.

Oh and before I forget, all PayMaya users who settle two bills worth at least Php 1,500 will have Php 50 cashback, no questions asked. If you're using the PayMaya app for the first time, you can get a Php 100 cashback if you pay bills over a Php 1,000. Also, if you are paying for a credit card, loan, or insurance bill for the first time, you will get Php 50 cashback more on top of that. Rewarding no?

The City of Marikina Goes Cashless with PayMaya

Thursday, April 08, 2021

Looks like it will be easier to pay taxes and government dues as the city of Marikina just started to roll out contactless payment in the city as they have started ties with PayMaya. This means residents of the city and those transacting with their offices can now pay for things right in the comforts of their home or anywhere as long as they are connected to the internet and use the PayMaya app. The Marikina online portal accepts credit, debit or prepaid cards and the PayMaya Wallet which can be loaded by cashing on from bank accounts or any PayMaya partners. PayMaya collaborated with the Development Bank of the Philippines and this has been welcomed by the city Mayor himself.

Marikina City Mayor Marcelino Teodoro says "With this initiative done by PayMaya and DBP, we empower our constituents with a safer way to pay for taxes. They can now also pay other fees online while in the comforts of their home. They don't have to physically go to the city hall during the pandemic. This will allow us to continue delivering critical services to our community and the public."

PayMaya Founder and CEO Orlando Vea says "Enabling the public to have digital payments is the way to go and we thank the city of Marikina for leading the way for cashless solutions in local governments. We are ready to have more people access digital financial services during this time."

There are over 60 national agencies and local government units that have had cashless solutions powered by PayMaya including budget disbursements so they get money for projects safer and faster. Aside from that, other agencies like the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Social Security System (SSS), Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Land Transportation Office (LTO), Bureau of Customs (BoC), and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), and cities like Manila, Mandaluyong, Quezon City, Pasig, Caloocan, and Valenzuela have already adapted PayMaya payment channels. It's easy and cashless so it's also safe for everyone.

You can also pay for groceries, medicine and tons of other things using the app. You also get the chance to earn cash back in each transaction as they regularly have promos that would get you perks when you pay through QR, transfer funds, pay bills using the app. Now don't say I didn't tell you about it, go download the PayMaya app today!

Paymaya Launches PAYMAYA MALL

Thursday, February 11, 2021

Mark Dee Head of Growth and Marketing Partnerships

Something big happened this morning as cashless payment king Paymaya just announced something innovative that will happen in their app. They call it Paymaya Mall. This one stop shop will place all their partner merchant stores in one place so if you need to buy anything, you can visit their sites through the app and pay for it digitally.

Mark Dee says "Over the past year, we have seen millions of Filipinos do online shopping despite the quarantine. The regular groceris, essentials, food and drinks have been on top of the list. Even malls and shops have closed and online market places have sprouted and ecommerce are being utilized for businesses to run. Paymaya has been there for payment systems, today, we're proud to present to you the Paymaya Mall. We're bringing your favorite merchants together in one place so you get the convenience straight to your phones. We are now bringing our merchant partners to 28 Million Paymaya users nationwide. You can get the best value with cashless transactions using the app. Food, retail, sport, groceries, fashion, and now it's easier to browse and see which merchants and stores already cater to Paymaya as their payment system nationwide. There are no extra costs in being part of the Paymaya Mall for our partners. Our mission has always been financial inclusion for all. The experience is super enhanced with what Paymaya can only offer."

Maya (their official mascot) showed us several brands including McDonalds Philippines, Mercury Drug, Landers, Goldilocks, Rose Pharmacy, and a whole lot more. Merchants don't have to pay a fee to be included here, which means it is a good thing for businesses. Since it's Chinese New Year, Paymaya is starting it right with a P880 cashback on purchases in the PayMaya Mall. If you spend Php 300 using your PayMaya mobile number, you get 20% cashback of up to P88 per transaction. And you can do this 10 times but only til March 15, 2021. If you do it all, you'll get Php 880 in in cashbacks. Isn't that huge? Well, that's not all, because they've got 500 off your first Pick.A.Roo order if you enter the code PAYMAYAROO on the app. Aside from that, you can enjoy 12% off on Rustans purchases, a 5% discount on Boozy (they've got tons of drinks) among other perks inside the mall.

As the country's leading financial provider, this is one way to push for cashless payments in the country. These merchants must be exposed with their 28Million customers that Paymaya also has online and this positions them as the most rewarding finance related app and brand in the country. Delivery fees will still be in the merchant partners and can be paid in the Paymaya app.

This is the most rewarding payment system today as they have Balik Bayad which returns part of your payments instantly. There are several offers and discounts which you can also get today, if you have not seen it yet, you better check the app and go visit the Paymaya Mall.

PayMaya Powers Cashless Payments at Philippine Statistics Authority

Friday, January 08, 2021

This is getting very interesting. For starters, it's a good thing that the government is finally adapting to cashless payments and to note, there's about 60 agencies that have already partnered with PayMaya. I've been using the app for a lot of things during the quarantine period which started about a year ago. Little did we know we're up for this huh?

Anyway, government transactions has always been important especially if you're bound to travel places, or to prove your identity, or have someone investigated especially if they're married or not LOL. Anyway, you and I know how important these documents are and yes, you only get them in the Philippine Statistics Authority. So if you're looking for birth certificates, death or civil registry, it's going to be easier and safer to pay for it now because they've managed to adapt to cashless payment with PayMaya. Thing is, this is just the start because soon, they're also going to be including the online channels of PSA too in the future. That means, everything will be online if that happens and imagine how convenient would that be if you're just going to wait at home and have those documents delivered to your doorstep. Ahh the convenience of technology.

Oh and of course if there's a PayMaya terminal, they would be able to use credit cards, debit cards and prepaid cards too. So if you're not carrying your PayMaya app or card, you don't need to worry because they can take that too. By the way, if you don't have PayMaya yet, go download it off Google Play or the App Store and use my code 2JH7062 so you can get 100 bucks for free.

Isn't that a good thing?

Get Your Dream TOYOTA with Balloon Payment Plus

Wednesday, January 06, 2021

Looks like TOYOTA is making it easier and more attractive for you to own your dream car. Well, let's just say I saw this offer online earlier and by the looks of it, it sounds mighty nice. They call it Balloon Payment Plus. This is offered by house financing corp, Toyota Financial Services Philippines. Basically, when you get a car from them using this option, it will come with periodic maintenance during the finance term and really nice end of term options.

How nice? Your car basically has a guaranteed future value so if you fancy a new car in the future (when your financing term is ending), you can use that value to pay for your brand new car. Like for instance, you've got a 20 to 30 percent of the vehicle price as down payment. If you choose a 24-month finance term, you can get 45 percent lump sum amount of the vehicle price, plus get a resale value at 55%. That's already quite high to tell you honestly, and it rids you of all the problems of getting a new car (which you like) and none of the mumbo jumbo of thinking how to resell your previous one. Sounds good? It is.

Participating cars include all Toyota Vios varieties, the Corolla Cross 1.8V Hybrid car, the Toyota Hilux (MC) Conquest, G, E and all the Toyota Fortuner (MC) models. So if you want to avail one, or more, go check out toyota.com.ph/balloon-payment-plus. You can also get in touch with them via 02-7757-8500 or their email addy feedback@toyotafinancial.ph or their site toyotafinancial.ph.

Don't forget to invite me to a ride if you do!

Independence Day Fun with PayMaya

Sunday, June 14, 2020

This weekend was too good, I guess it had a lot to do with luck that I got from a payment partner PayMaya. You see, it was my first time going out of my Barangay and because I had to do some banking chores in Cubao for my Mom. I also got to take out Fried Chicken from Jollibee because I’ve been craving for their juicy ones since lockdown happened. I paid via QR and it was a breeze. They didn’t have lines that time.

I was about to proceed go SM Supermarket in SM Cubao when I saw a humongous line that could take me a few hours just to get in, tons more hours to line up afterwards. I got into a Grabcar instead and went home, paid cashless with my PayMaya card. In our hood, there’s a small Robinsons Supermarket that I went to. I got ground pork, some chips, toiletries, insect spray and a few food items and fruits. It cost around 1,2k for all my purchase and I paid with cash and Gift Certificates at first but their thing wasn’t online so they returned it to me. Good thing I had PayMaya with me and I just paid via QR. Things took minutes to finish and I got home.

While I finished prepping lunch, my phone beeped and PayMaya told me this!

OMG imagine they gave me 500 pesos back just because I used my PayMaya to pay via QR. This has happened to me a LOT of times and I’m sure other people have experienced this too. Now go and download the app and take your payment experience to the next level! I felt my Groceries were just paid for by PayMaya.

I’m a lucky boy!

Friday, May 29, 2020

You can download the app via the Google Play Store, just search PayMaya Negosyo and it's there. This is perfect for GCQ conditions, stay safe peeps!

Experience Stress Free Life with GCASH

Wednesday, October 16, 2019

I have always wondered why a lot of people still don't delve into using online transactions. It's actually very convenient and if you ask me, we've got a lot of options now that banks and even corporations started to come out with apps that could do the job what normal bank visits would do. I mean, I've been to my home bank and spent a little more than 2 hours just to deposit money, imagine the things I could have done with that amount of time, which is why I tell my friends the same thing.

In exemplar, my friend has an online business selling mens accessories, watches and shirts. It was a small business back then but they did start getting more than the usual activities when they got word of mouth joining several bazaars and they had to hire people so they could cope up with the demand. After several years of doing this, she didn't have time anymore to go out, have fun, or enjoy the fruits of her labor because she had to do all the accounting work even if it wasn't something she finished college for. She had to endure the same things as I did including lining up to pay for SSS, Pagibig Fund for her employees and include a lot of bills and taking money in and out of the bank. It was a mouthful to say but just imagine how stressed she was because she didn't know several apps could do it, which is why I suggested she lived a little and give GCASH a try. The next month, she didn't have to pay her Meralco, Water or PLDT bill in three different locations anymore, she tied up her BPI account and got money she sees the need to. Then when it came to her employer obligations, she didn't have to lineup anymore because SSS and Pagibig was accessible. She even swears payments were coming in smoothly since it's now possible to transfer funds using the app.

We even had more time to hang out and do a small party for her kid. She thanked me in the sidelines but reminded me that I have to pay half the bill, and GCASH even had that hahaha! She could have gotten me a treat but no, I had to pay in the end LOL! Oh yeah, she is that kind of a friend! Haha!

She thanked me for GCASH though, and that was enough. She paid for my coffee later in the evening, I was thankful at least, she got her life back. No more lines, no more stress, I guess that counts.

Pay Bills with Paymaya, Get Cash Back and More!

Monday, September 23, 2019

Had so much in my plate literally and figuratively so I didn't get to pay for my bills this month. I have always been relying through online banking but if you count the number of instances that it's offline, you would get depressed I'm sure.

What I love about Paymaya is that they give you options, plus the fact that they give CASHBACKS and feel like everyday is Christmas! Imagine if you pay your PLDT, Meralco, Smart, Pagibig Fund or other merchants (on Fridays and Saturdays of September) until September 30, you instantly get Php 100 cash back on your first three bills (if you pay in full and on time). On top of this, you also get the chance to win in their promo worth all your bills next month (100 promo winners!), isn't that just AMAZING? (You just got to pay three unique bills worth 5K)

I did this on my phone last week, it was easy, not complicated and it's just a few clicks with Paymaya. Just choose Pay Bills, choose your biller, enter your account and payment, confirm your transaction and voila! It's that easy.

If I were you, I'd download Paymaya now because you don't really get cash backs in your bank's mobile app anyway. If you were to choose between the two, I'd rather pay where I'm getting something back right?

You Can Transfer Funds for Free with GCASH

Thursday, April 04, 2019

I'm sitting here in a coffee shop rushing for articles I should have made last week because the big construction chores at home had me occupied... I couldn't finish em all. Since it is also the end of the month, I also need to pay bills and do bank errands. Even though my bank is near, I really don't have time to go there and line up for hours. It's been that busy, but di you know you can transfer funds for free with GCash?

We all wished for banking convenience and these days, going physically to the bank would cost transportation, countless hours wasted queueing, when you could have just be productive at home. It's amazing that they have apps now that could do banking transactions these days that you can do stuff at home or anywhere you have an internet connection. Bank owned apps though only get you limited and if you need to do transactions elsewhere, that would take so much effort. What about transferring funds? Would I need to personally go to banks here in my hood then go to another one 5 miles away just to do it because my app doesn't care? Do I have to suffer the same fate as countless Filipinos do in lines across the country? Maybe we all need to learn from GCASH.

GCash to Bank and Bank to GCash transfers cost free

GCASH now has the ability to trasnfer funds from GCASH to bank and bank to GCASH too. The catch? There's no catch because doing it is completely FREE. You get a hold of your time and you don't have to waste time sitting in the bank for hours waiting for hundreds of numbers to be called because this thing is instantaneous, it's crazy true! They've also got about 37 banks on their system and you could do even more if you link in your accounts in the app, no need to change numbers either because GCASH can work with Globe and other networks. Instapay is in its backbone which is an amazing Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas service, all safe and secure.

They even email you details of your transaction. It normally takes seconds to reflect on your account.

I see a glimpse of hope in a country I've felt so hopeless with in the past few years. Hearing news like these makes it easy for any citizen to work efficiently, spend precious time to worthy things and save a lot of people from the stress of banking.

How about that?
