Binibining Pilipinas Candidates Visit BEAUTÉDERM Headquarters

Sunday, June 16, 2024

The most beautiful women in the country just visited the most Beutéful beauty brand called Beautéderm at their headquarters in Angeles Pampanga. They are the official skincare partner of Binibining Pilipinas and these 40 women took time to bond with Beautéderm CEO Ms. Rei Tan who signed this pact last June 5, 2024.

Last year, Beautederm also gave Miss Blanc Beauté award to Binibining Ana Valencia from Bataan where she won Php 100,000, and surely, this is one of the most coveted special award this year!

They will be giving Php 150,000 and over Php 500,000 worth of Beautéderm products, aimed for them to start a business too. Ms. Rhea Tan shared her life story to inspire others during the program, and hope the winner will not just be physically beautiful, smart, and also be a person for others.

The coronation night will happen at the Araneta Coliseum on July 7th, where they will crown 2 Queens for Miss International and Miss Globe, and win 1 Million each. Runners up will also receive Php 400,000, and may represent the Philippines in other pageants abroad.

Binibining Pilipinas is also celebrating their 60th year, while Beautéderm is celebrating their 15th Year this coming August, an opportune time indeed!

Making History, Leaving a Legacy with Gatorade

Sunday, September 03, 2023

Wasn't the last FIBA game of the Philippines fun? Gilas Pilipinas won against China and it's a whopping 96-75, contrary to early predictions. Dwight Ramos wasn't just eye candy, but really went against some of the big men in the league. He's been training a lot and played in teams from the EU region. He knows how to play, and part of that is hydrating a lot.

He goes through these challenges with a Gatorade in hand. It replenishes his electrolytes, and makes him not experience dehydration. It also helps him with the nutrients he need while playing on the court. With it, he also doesn't experience cramps during warmups.

During the game, heat and exhaustion can really hamper these players performance especially since they've been at the peak of their physical efforts. Some players stop mid game because they lose so much fluids and cramps become a problem. Good thing there's the official electrolyte drink for FIBA to help them in the games. They are making history for their respective countries, that includes the Philippines... and we saw that happen during this week.

That sweet end with the victory against China was the cherry on top.

CATRIONA GRAY, Gilas Pilipinas Players, Announced As FIBA Local Ambassadors

Friday, August 26, 2022

Hearing that the FIBA Basketball World Cup is happening in the Philippines is already a huge deal for me. Filipinos are the biggest fans of it in the world, you can tell why as much of the streets are lined with basketball courts, big or small, just so we could have somewhere to play they game we absolutely love.

Yesterday was also extra special as SBP (Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas), FIBA and various affiliates introduced the local FIBA Ambassadors consisting of former Gilas Pilipinas players and the one and only Miss Universe Catriona Gray.

Here's what happened that morning

During the event, they also announced the simultaneous start of the Tissot Time in the Philippines, Indonesia and Japan.  This means there's only "one year to go" before FIBA matches starts. They also have hinted that there will be a FIBA Global Ambassador later this year. This is also the first time in FIBA's history to see three countries hosting the games, with the Philippines heading the pack. They also mentioned that the local ambassadors wouldn't be the only ones to help disseminate information about the games, because YOU can be part of that too. You may start joining the community by registering here https://register.worldcup.basketball so you could get early bird rates on tickets and Superfan packages.

What's also touching is that they plan to identify several basketball courts around the country that they will adopt so they could fix, restore and make them a project for the ambassadors together with the FIBA players, making sure they also get to see the culture and what Filipinos are known for, the heart filled hospitality.

Stay tuned for more updates about the games, plus the time they're raffling off the countries battling it out in the FIBA Basketball World Cup!

Meeting a Beauty Queen: Dia Nicole Magno

Monday, May 27, 2019

Sat down with a gorgeous Bb. Pilipinas candidate named Dia Nicole Magno (Binibini #39). Just like any Filipino, I love watching pageants and root for anyone who represents our country. This year just feels different because the competition just became a little tougher. The standards are higher especially after getting the country copped the Miss Universe crown last 2015 and 2018 with Pia Wurtzbach Alonzo and Catriona Gray. Dia hails from Butuan City in the Caraga Region. Unbeknownst to a lot of people, the province is so rich in culture, where tons of interesting and world class tourist spots and landmarks abound - but have yet to be discovered. It is ready to be seen by both local and international audiences, she proudly tells us about it.

Take a look at her home town Butuan City and the Caraga Region:

null

Preparing for Binibining Pilipinas, she says "I don’t have any special workout, I just haven’t eaten pork or beef, just chicken and fish all the time. You have to work on yourself more once you get in, I'm glad I got lots of training in Ateneo. We have oral recitation and public speaking so it’s an advantage. The pre pageant already started but there’s a closed door interview because they want to know you. This year’s theme is Beyond Beauty.”

About the ME generation she says “Maybe there’s an advantage, to love ourselves, to express ourselves freely, but not to not connect with people around us and not just because society dictates it. We have to be very compassionate, not to take someone’s life, you have to think of men, women, maybe the government should work on their ideas, to educate the youth and elders, if they are going to be able to do something about it, then it will be good for the youth. I’m happy the administration is doing good in rehabilitating several tourist spots and making people aware about it (referring to Boracay).

About her being single, she says "I’ve never had a boyfriend, but I don’t think being single defines us as a person. Being part of this, I know I have already helped a lot of people and this is unforgettable. I have been able to talk to people who have been able to hear about my advocacies.

She has her fair share of bashers, she has seen it online but honestly, I would prefer you to get to know her even more. She has a mission and has been working with organizations and local government agencies that could further her cause. The genuine things she does to help schools in her community, the drive to let more people discover what Butuan and the Caraga Region has to offer, mean she cares, and that counts for a real queen.

Support Binibining Pilipinas #39 Dia Nicole Magno as accorded by her merits. She deserves it!

GILAS PILIPINAS: FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament

Thursday, June 30, 2016

This is it! I can't wait! We've already won the rights to host the FIBA Olympi Qualifying Tournament this 2016 and we're raring to go where no Filipino has gone before (well we did in 1936 and the years thereafter) but it's been a while since we've actually had a basketball team on the world map. We've done the legwork, we've conquered huge teams and placed 1st Runner Up in FIBA Asia Qualifiers. We've beaten world ranked countries and taken Gilas Pilipinas out there, impressing even the best people in the industry... and this is our chance to bring back that glory we've been longing for.

They've already announced the final 12 players, and we've seen the exhibition games happen in other countries. As they all come home and be joined by the rest of the country, Gilas Pilipinas will attempt to win that single slot and overcome a lot of other countries to make it there.

Our first touch of eurasian country Turkey will happen on July 1 at 7PM. This is just a tune up game yet a great venue to gauge how we'll fare with other countries when it comes to the real thing on July 5-10, 2016. The other qualifiers will happen in cities like Turin, Italy and Belgrade, Serbia. The Philippines will be pit against France, New Zealand and whoever is going to rank top in those dates. Games will be at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City and it will be shown live on the happiest network in the country, TV5 with updates from Sports 5 PH too.

Gilas Pilipinas' Final 12 is composed of Jayson Castro, Ranidel de Ocampo, Troy Rosario, Ryan Reyes, Gabe Norwood Jeff Chan, June Mar Fajardo, Marc Pingris, Japeth Aguilar, Terrence Romeo, Andray Blatche and Bobby Ray Parks Jr. Unfortunately L.A. Tenorio and Calvin Abueva are out. This was announced by Tab Baldwin before their tune up game with China in Italy. The coach was adamant declaring it was because of numbers that they decided to choose the roster but I'm sure they were NOT short of HEART. Make sure you'll be there and purchase tickets at SM Tickets (https://smtickets.com/). Ticket prices go as much as Php 14,945 for VIP, Php 12,810 for Patron, Php 10,675 for Lower Box, Php 430 for Upper Box and Php 215 for General Admission (as seen on site).

Bring your hearts, let's all cheer behind Gilas Pilipinas and say "Laban Pilipinas! Puso!" (Fight Philippines! With all your heart!).

Gilas Road to Glory: Philippines VS Iran on TV5

Saturday, June 04, 2016

It's a tall order, but someone's got to do it. This June 8 at 7pm, be one with the whole nation as team Gilas Pilipinas battles it out with team Iran in our road to glory for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament. Getting this goal would eventually secure us with a slot to the Rio Olympics. They're already doing the legwork now as most of our Gilas players and Andre Blache undergo strict world class training under Coach Baldwin who made us take those necessary steps to become one of the strongest teams in Asia!

Road To Glory will officially happen on Junr 8 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and will be televised live on the happiest network in the country TV5. We're one of the few teams that are up to be able to beat Iran as it was earlier proven possible in the FIBA Asia Championships. That close game, was certainly not the story they were actually expecting because in a nutshell, IRAN has ranked higher in the world and has been consistently playing in the Olympics for quite some time. If we've been able to give them a scary Finals round even if we're not in our own turf, that's going to be another story this time around. The Olympic Qualifying Tournaments will be happening in our own land, which means Gilas Pilipinas will have one more advantage, the Filipino people and the heart of a country that's stronger because it all happens right here in our turf. It gives the Philippines no space to prove itself, but a moment to be proud, be the 6th man and conquer even BIGGER opponents that we have ever met to get to Brazil.

There will also be tune up games versus Turkey come July 1 at the Mall of Asia Arena. Turkey along with other countries like Canada, Senegal, France and New Zealand will be here for the games abd we'll be expecting more world class games happening in the next few weeks. You should get tickets now through Ticketnet 911-5555 or their website www.ticketnet.com.ph. Never miss the action on TV5 and sports5.ph because it is all going to be there. Bring your heart to these games!

Meeting Beauty Queens: Bb. Pilipinas Grand International Nicole Cordoves and Miss Universe Philippines Maxine Medina

Tuesday, May 31, 2016

Okay, this is the piece de resistance. We also met Bb. Pilipinas Grand International Nicole Cordoves and Miss Universe Philippines Maxine Medina. Just like you I was a little ecstatic to meet the two.

Nicole was actually impressive. She looks very educated, articulate and would probably pass every Question and Answer portion imaginable with ease. She knows how to put thoughts into words, do it like it's just another day at work. She also helps different causes involved in healthcare for kids and women in small communities. If you think you've seen her somewhere before, you probably are right. She won Ms. Chinatown 2014 and it was also televised. For those of you who don't know Grand International, it's a pageant based in Las Vegas. Parul Shah won Third Runner Up last 2014 and the organization is still on its infancy. I could see her win it easily, she needs all our support so give her all you've got come October!

Maxine Medina won the Bb. Pilipinas Universe title. She's really gorgeous up close, very Asian looking. She's pleasing to the eyes, I could already tell how she'd fare on print. True enough, she's been modeling for quite a number of years and she's learned a lot from the industry. I like her disposition, she knows she needs to train more in order to make a fair fight this year in Miss Universe. She's got big shoes to fill since we just won it with Pia Wurtzbach, even though I don't think that's going to be fair. I know she's going to do her best, she didn't even know she'd end up as Miss Universe Philippines. It's a tall order but she's doing her homework as early as now. The time we interviewed her, I could sense she was a little nervous, stuttering at times but I could see her friendship and being with Nicole would actually help a lot getting that out of her. She's also undergoing the hard training that Pia had gone through and is ready, hopeful, that we could do it again for the Philippines. She was a little overwhelmed, but here's wishing that we get a back to back Miss Universe crown for 2016!

Here are some shots of our lovely Nicole and Maxine!

Here's a portion of our interview on video:

Thank you so much again to Araneta Center for having us and Cream Silk for getting us hooked with these lovely ladies! Hope to do it again very soon!

Meeting Beauty Queens: Bb. Pilipinas International Kylie Verzosa and Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental Jennifer Hammond

They came pouring in. Third time is a charm and we've got Bb. Pilipinas International Kylie Verzosa and Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental Jennifer Hammond for an interview. I was sitting at the museum on the 5th floor of Gateway Tower when they came in. They looked absolutely stunning, one looks like supermodel Kimora Lee Simmons and the other that looks like an angel.

This is Kylie Verzosa's second time to join Binibining Pilipinas. She already placed in the top 15 last year and this year, she took the Binibining Pilipinas International crown and she's going to represent the country in the Miss International Pageant in Tokyo. She'll probably be the crowd favorite as the Japanese are obsessed with pretty doe eyes which she carries like a life like snow white. She's very articulate too, can answer fast, just like you're talking to a friend whom you haven't talked to for a long time. She's going places, and I hope she gets to get the crown and do this for the Philippines.

Jennifer Hammond on the other hand was so down to earth, a joy to actually talk to. My first impression was to liken her to Kimora Lee Simmons whom I actually adored during her time. Jennifer is pleasing to the eyes, she could pass off as a newscaster, a host, someone who would entertain as she's a little funny and quirky at times. This and a whole lot of other things may get her to win the coveted Miss Intercontinental crown. She's also a woman of power, grace, commitment, intelligence, style and substance. It's something the pageant was designed for. They want to find beauty in diversity, I think Jennifer has it. Take a look at them during the blogcon.

Here's our video interview of these fine ladies!

I'd like to say thanks to Kylie and Jennifer for being so nice during our interview. I wish you all the best in your respective pageants, please do the country proud!

Thank you also to Araneta Center and Binibining Pilipinas Charities for letting us interview these queens!

Wait for the last one with our Miss Universe!!
