TV5 Will Air Pacquiao-Ugas Fight This Sunday

 

Sports fans won't be waiting in vain as the Manny Pacquiao-Yordenis Ugas WBA Super Welterweight title fight will be aired this coming August 22, that's a Sunday at 11AM on the kapatid network TV5 (Channel 5 on Free TV, Cignal TV Channel 5, and Channel 10 on SkyCable.

TV5 has been bringing you a lot of coverages like the recent Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the Philippine Basketball League, Philippine Volleyball League, the FIBA/Gilas games and a lot more. The Pacquiao-Ugas fight will be held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.


Cignal TV and TV5 President and CEO Robert P. Galang says "We know how much every Pacquiao fight turns into a national event and we are one with you in seeing how he would bring pride and honor to the country."

Again, it's going to be broadcasted at 11am on TV5, so make sure you have drinks, snacks and everything else ready before that time. It'll be surely packed since the title was previously owned by pacman, it was only given to Ugas because of Pac's inactivity.

CIGNAL TV Honors Filipino Athletes in Stellar Olympic Campaign

The Filipino really did quite well during the Tokyo Olympic Games this 2020. We won the first Gold Medal and hauled two Silver medals and one bronze, making the country the top Southeast Asian country to get them even under the pandemic.

Cignal TV has been there all the way as it is the official Philippine partner for the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020 and dubbed it as "We Are Stronger", a campaign that has showcased what we can do as we strive to be faster, higher and stronger. They're following it up with another campaign called "See Us Stronger" when they wrapped up coverages a couple weeks ago. Cignal TV also covered 2016 Rio Olympics and put it in Cignal TV, TV4 and OTT platforms through Smart and PLDT. Gretchen Ho and Paolo Del Rosario was also sent to Japan to cover them, while you remain glued to your screens.

Championing Viewers: CIGNAL TV and TV5

If you haven't felt it, heard or seen it, you'll be surprised how Cignal TV and TV5 did these huge business model changes in the past few years. They've started to work with independent producers and talent agencies which made a pretty good impact since it lowers production costs for the channel, but not shortchange artistry, entertainment value and talent which Filipinos rightfully deserve.

For those who don't know, they've worked with huge entertainment companies like VIVA Entertainment, IdeaFirst Company, Cornerstone Entertainment, Brightlight Productions, Archangel Media and Regal Entertainment. And if you haven't seen it yet, episodes of ABSCBN's highly rated shows like Coco Martin's "FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano", the Jodi Iza Sam starrer "Ang Sa Iyo ay Akin", then the Paulo Avelino, Zanjoe Marudo, Arci Muñoz and Angelica Panganiban show "Walang Hanggang Paalam" and the recent reality show Pinoy Big Brother Connect which had its finale a few days ago.

Not only that, Brightlight Productions also produced Korina Sanchez' Rated Korina, the Ian Veneracion and Dimples Romana romcom "Oh My Dad!" and the jampacked fun and innovative show "Lunch Out Loud". Viva Entertainment on the other hand brought to the table "Born to Be A Star", "Puto", "Republika Origins", "Ninja Kids", "1000 Heartbeats: Pintig Pinoy", "The Wall Philippines" and recent KDrama adaptation "Encounter" with Diego Loyzaga and Cristine Reyes. They also did Masked Singer Pilipinas, Ghost Adventures, Bella Bandida, Kagat ng Dilim and Onstage which had their really good runs in the evenings. They did good. My favorite people from IdeaFirst Company also did "Paano Ang Pasko?" and "Paano Ang Pangako?" which was done by Direk Jun Robles Lana (script), Director Enrico Quizon, Ricky Davao and Perci Intalan.

Cornerstone Entertainment did "I Got You", "Stay-In Love" and "Sunday Noontime Live!" plus Gretchen Ho's very own show Woman In Action and home grown TV5 News Programs Frontline Pilipinas and The Big Story which she's a mainstay. Archangel Media did the Paolo Ballesteros and Wally Bayola hosted Bawal na Game Show (which I had the chance to join a few months ago). They also did Fill in the Bank with Jose Manalo and Pokwang which is still doing good til now. Regal Entertainment Inc is doing their 10th year of content via One Screen Channel on Cignal TV, and they're still doing more in the coming months.

What's good is that we all know who's winning here, the viewers. For all these years, TV5 and Cignal TV managed to still bring everyone a piece of good programming in the midst of a pandemic. That's a lot of people working there just to bring you these things in 2021.

Cignal TV, TV5 and MVP Group of Companies Launch Movement This Christmas

 

Christmas is just around the corner and yes, not everyone is celebrating the actual day because of the pandemic. To spread cheer and positivity, the movers and shakers of Cignal TV, TV5 and the MVP Group is coming together for a cause they call Tuloy Pa Rin Ang Pasko Movement. It's an open call for generosity, charity, so other people in the community could also feel the spirit of Christmas.

The movement is part of their CSR efforts in order to give special noche buena treats, they have screened and identified beneficiaries who have been heavily affected by recent typhoons, calamities and the COVID-19 pandemic. The Tuloy Pa Rin Ang Pasko Movement is open to everyone and people from Cignal TV, TV5 and the MVP Group has set up channels where you can also send donations and affect more in this particular cause. This means, you too can make Christmas happen for someone undergoing hardships these days.

To make it even more special, they also created the TULOY PA RIN ANG PASKO song. This was specifically created for this movement. It is written by Louie Ocampo and the lyrics was done by Noel Ferrer. Add to that, the music video featuring various artists who believe, support the cause. Now all you need to do is go and deposit on the accounts indicated on the photo above or use the paymaya QR code and contribute whatever amount you can, big or small, so they too get to feel the Christmas cheers this movement is trying to convey.

Martin and Pops Does "eXes & whYs" on Cignal TV’s Colours

It looks like exes Martin Nievera and Pops Fernandez are back together, not as a real life couple but as hosts of new show "eXes & whYs" which is going to be shown on CIGNAL TV's homegrown channel COLOURS. 

 This is also all in the family as this show is going to be directed by their son Robin Nievera. The talented 80's and 90's icons will be making your evenings worthwhile as they engage with popular hits which they have done in the past few decades and perhaps some really good talk with their guests on the show. Starting off, they actually have The Company, a world class group of singers who in their own right has thousands of album sales over the years.

 

This is of course already teased on Pops Fernadez' IG account a couple of days ago and it looks like it is heavily produced. Oh and all along we thought it was a lone one but no, they are actually doing 2. They are also beefing up more content for COLOURS and that will all happen next year. The other show is called MUSIC ICONS on COULOURS. It will be a live session wherein musicians will get to be with Louie Ocampo and Robin Nievera, plus a lot of other guests in the pipeline. They will also going to be doing other shows aside from that, but they are holding announcements for now.

Martin says "We want the show for anybody and everybody. It will be like Penthouse Live, we want someone in the news, to lighten the mood and perhaps Brad Pitt. You will also see every Saturday night why we are together, why we can do this on Cignal TV so make sure you go to the channel, and on Sunday too so you can jam with Louie and Ram."

Pops says "I personally want Sharon Cuneta to also guest in the show. If it is possible, we hope it happens in the near future. I used to be melodramatic, but now Christmas is just for my children and I look forward to it."

Martin and Pops still exist together. You will be able to see how exes should get along, you can see them co-parenting, and show the magic lesson of sincerity. The magic of how they are still friends after all these years. See them on CIGNAL TV and their other digital platforms. I'm sure you've missed them that much!

CIGNAL Launches "TABI PO" The Series on Sari-Sari Network

Content is king so CIGNAL and VIva's Sari-Sari Channel is gambling on new shows this last quarter as they unleash a new series called "TABI PO". With digital content on the forefront this all seems to be the right time to get new concepts on TV and digital, and what's more interesting than popular Philippine folklore?

The words "TABI PO" stemmed from the things superstitious Filipinos say so as not to disturb spirits, dwarves, entities if you are entering their territory. It started from an award winning online comics series by Mervin Malonzo. During the event he says "I feel I am accomplishing something great when this concept was pitched to me by Viva and Cignal. My new interpretation of Philippine folklore is driven by my imagination, with what I wanted to see when it becomes a full blown tv series. I hope you like what you see on Sari-Sari channel. It's a story of Elias, in a period drama series that set in not so ordinary locations."

Aj Mulach adds "This show will showcase outstanding special effects, which you'll see and feel because they did the work in post production. The fighting scenes here have been really designed to showcase martial arts, fit to make an unbelievable show, you've never seen anything like this on Philippine TV." 

Phoebe Walker quips "One of the things I like about this show is the dedication of the people we work with. What we're doing here is non traditional, we know how much work is put in on the scenes and had to be patient at times because the output feels like it's all worth it!"

The Director came up on stage and introduced the show to us and said "Thanks to everyone who came here especially to all the artists who appeared in the show. You've all worked hard to do this even in the wee hours of the morning. This is so difficult to make but it's a dream to actually do. To our production staff, I am thankful to have you do this bloody show and make it into a reality. This looks so much like a movie and I hope it gets appreciated by the viewing public. Without the producers this wouldn't materialize, being brave to do this, I am so proud to see how far we have come. You'll see all blow up on screen on Episode 1."

Not only that, they are also preparing to do other genres like "Tabi Po", Advocasine 1 and 2 plus the much awaited spinoff of the critically acclaimed movie Die Beautiful called Born Beautiful. Cignal Entertainment also has continued to partner with top story tellers in the country like Sari Sari Network, Unitel, Idea First, Content Cows and Masque Valley Productions. They also are contiuing their search for the up and coming content creators, directors, producers, writers together in CineFilipino. See What's Cooking at Helen's Kitchen

I've always watched Eat Bulaga and I'm sure I'm not alone when you hear the small anecdotes about how good her cooking is to the point of ALWAYS having the hosts request for it anytime they crave for good home cooking. She always was the topic and true enough she gets them what they want the next day. Judging from the looks of it, her cooking is not just good, but legendary. This goes the same from the stories of Mega Star Ms. Sharon Cuneta, and believe me how she raves about it even then. So I guess it's about time she does us a favor, to basically share us her recipes and the experience what her home cooking feels like.

For those who don't know, she's dubbed as the Queen of the Kitchen with her closest friends and they will attest how good it is. This is co-produced by the creative people behind Idea First Co. who also does shows on TV5. This season, Ms. Helen Gamboa-Sotto will make you drool with food together with her guests the Diamond star Ms. Maricel Soriano, Carmina Villaroel, Eric Quizon, Pops Fernandez, Albert Martinez, Raymart Santiago, Ruby Rodriguez, Gladys Reyes, Donita Rose, Pauleen Luna Sotto and Ms. Pops Fernandez. They will be cooking but more than that, they will tell you their stories too. She will also prepare really lovely ceremonial "Pabaon" or take outs which her celebrity guests will get to take home.

 She gave me Pabaon of Pork Asado too! :)

Ms. Helen Gamboa Sotto laments "I'm going to share all the things that my Grandma, my Mom which was passed on to me. I will also share tips of which I do to prepare these dishes so it would be easier for ordinary Moms at home to follow, saving a buck or few in the process too."

Her show Helen's Kitchen will be aired exclusively on COLOURS via CignalTV starting July 1, that's this Saturday at 8PM. Make sure you watch the show and subscribe to the service because it will only be seen there! Well not really, but they are currently in talks to show this on TV5 so you wait for that. She promised me she's going to cook my favorite CHICHARON on the second season so I'm already excited for that!

Cignal Welcomes Stephen Thompson in Manila

We're at the Mall of Asia Music hall today to give you a glimpse on how we treat Stephen "The Wonderboy" Thompson a little Filipino welcome courtesy of our friends from Cignal. This is a tour arranged by the company and they dub it as "UFC & Cignal Presents: On the Rise, Stephen Thompson".

Cignal is gearing to expand in Asia and and MMA in the Philippines is rapidly growing. It's an opportune time to see the #2 in the Welterweight rankings, Stephen Thompson in the flesh. He knocked out Johnny Hendricks last February 6, so he's as fresh as it gets. Cignal will be broadcasting more fights on Hyper channel 53. He's loving the reception so far and now that he's in MOA, he hopes to get even closer to his Filipino fans!

They started by revealing Red Dela Cruz, the first Filipina UFC Octagon Girl. A really nice place to start.

Mark Eddiva from Team Lakay also joined in. He's officially the first full blooded Filipino to be in UFC, he hails from Baguio and traveled 6 hours just to be here. He actually is a Wushu gold medalist. Really humble guy too.

Then it was his turn, this is Stephen Thompson!

Stephen Thompson adds "It's not an easy task, you have to find a good gym and feel good about it, when you're confident, and they take care of you, you'll be a good fighter!".

Owen Franks Now Executive Producer for Bloomberg TV Philippines

I've been watching Bloomberg TV for years now. Even as a kid, while my Father was doing his job in the Airport, I was always with other corporate executives in the lounge watching real live updates and fondly listen while they discuss matters of stocks, the economy and the turn of the millennium. Now when news came that Bloomberg was about to hit the Philippines, people in the industry were flabbergasted. I learned of this news last month while I was browsing stock forums. You see, this business channel is gearing to launch next month as part of Cigna's new channel lineup. It's making history as it becomes the first ever 24/7 business news channel in the country. 

The Bloomberg Media Group also announced Owen Franks as Bloomberg TV Philippines' Executive Producer. The former Al Jazeera and BBC veteran brings over 15 years of experience in the broadcast industry. He will be leading talent and production teams from TV5's News5, and also be responsible for the overall editorial direction of news programming and operations of the channel soon. Bloomberg Philippines will be more than just a place to watch updated stocks, it'll bring the region's best stories and will make things easier come ASEAN integration wherein the Philippines is a major player.
