Gretchen Ho is your "Woman in Action"

Friday, September 23, 2022

Looks like you're in for a treat this September as Cignal, One News and One PH starts the new show Woman in Action hosted by your favorite Gretchen Ho.

Head of News Patrick Paez says "We are delighted to have Gretchen with us, she was part of our previous network work and we see promise with her talent. She has grown as a journalist, and this show is her concept, we have confidence with her and we can't wait to see her new show."

The show will feature Gretchen Ho in her element, in different parts of the world to get to know the people, what they do so you too get to know who they are from the comforts of your own home. It's like a travel/lifestyle show where she will also tell you her experiences, how to get there, the food she eats and the small costs to do it. Much of the things we saw in the preview included lesser known spots in the Philippines but she also has some clips showing other countries which surely will be interesting to see on TV.

Gretchen says "It was just in my mind for the last few years, all of us are so passionate about what we do and we want to show the Filipino heart through travel. This was something we wanted to do in 2020, but the pandemic happened. We will be having guests in the show, get to talk to people managing the tourist destinations and how they work steadfastly and help the townsfolk make a living in their communities. Woman in Action also sparks my passion in cycling, we'll see people on the road and get to also interview them, I feel this is the perfect time to do it so viewers could be inspired with their stories. The people I work with right now, they will be here including my camera man, my researchers, it won't be full reporter mode. It is also going to have a public service part, hopefully to make it also become sustainable to help people and communities. I wanted to work for NGO previously, but I didn't realize I was doing it already and I was inspired by Ms. Gina Lopez and see how it has impacted people. It brought livelihood to communities through tourism. I am in the early stages of this show but my advise to girls is to take courage, for the things you are called to do, stay true to that and you will fulfill that calling."

Gretchen Ho is not just the host, but also the producer of the show. She might be a little young, but says it won't be a challenge that will be given to her if she couldn't do it. She is also inspired with travel host Drew Arellano, hopes she also does good in making the show relatable, and do crazy things in the show.

The show can be seen on the Cignal Play app on mobile. The show will prolly start on October 1 at 7:30PM at one News and will be replayed at 8PM the day after. Make sure to watch it!

Jerome, Nikko, Dave Start Naughty Fun on GV BOYS

Saturday, June 26, 2021

This afternoon, I just got off the Puregold Channel presscon as they launch a new series called "GV BOYS" starring Jerome Ponce, Nikko Natividad and Dave Bornea. This also includes Ms. Carmi Martin, Wilma Doesnt, Elsa Droga and directed by Don Cuaresma.

It's a sitcom that will be seen exclusively on the Puregold Channel meant to spread good vibes as the title suggests.  Jawo, Daks and Zeus, sons of Aling Perling will be making your day as they bring situational and family comedy on YouTube. Present in the occasion was Writer Joaquin Acosta, Creative Head Noel Nuguit and Sherwin Buenavida who did the Teleplay. Don Cuaresma says "This is like an homage to previous shows like Palibhasa Lalake, the golden years of sitcoms in the 90's. Dave Bornea, Nikko and Jerome couldn't be combined on TV, so we did it on digital and that won't happen in other mediums because they are after all from other channels. We're locked in doing this, so they really bonded while making this project. We researched about what digital audiences watch, it would converge any age bracket because even the not so young ones are now on Facebook. We are aware of what we want to put on the series."

Noel says "The 90's sitcoms were really an inspiration doing this. They have their own counterparts, it's interesting because it's comedy, it's fun, but it has heart."

Sherwin adds "The humor online is different in mainstream, but if it is funny, it transcends platforms. I feel the sitcom concentrates on friendship and family, just on a different platform."

Joaquin says "Make sure you watch out for comedy on this show, the story itself is relatable and you'll love them for who they are."

Carmi Martin says "I'm so involved with how this half Korean-Pinay character was created and interpreted. It'll be very fun to see how she will be connecting with the other actors. I'm happy to be part of the GV Boys group to give even more entertainment online. I'm a little crazed, but even if these actors are just new, they're very good at what they do. I do have experience with Mr. M back in the day, I want soaps, but my forte is really sitcoms.  It's what we also need during the pandemic, we need something fun! I learned that you have to be ready, to give your best because you have window hours, you have to finish sequences with the sunlight still there, it was fun and a little better working in this setup, I feel it's perfect for me even if we didn't have air conditioning because it was all open air. It was well planned shooting for this sitcom."

Wilma Doesnt adds "I'm half Japanese here. It'll be crazy because I have someone to call my own, a loveteam. The three boys are really good, I fell a little old because they're very nice, even brings me chairs when I need it. I was really under Mr. M and I did Richard Loves Lucy. When I saw Richard, I cried because I was starstruck, I must admit, I really did have a crush on him back in the day. The pandemic made us realize we have a lot to look forward to, we finished it earlier or on time, I saved on gas, it's the reality because you can concentrate on the work at hand. You've got lots of time with your co actors, it made us comfortable because we ate together, we know how to throw lines easy."

Jerome says "There were a few artists who auditioned for this project, they cut down to three and I think we really just fit the role. I play Jawo, a little crazy, hopeless romantic. This is different from my BL series, you have to bond with your co actors so you know their comedic timing, we had to give each other space so we know when to throw a joke. We had lots of energy.

Nikko adds "I didn't audition, but I think they saw me on IG and saw my humor. I think that's what sold them to get me for the project. Dave is really good, we just talk about his salary because he's from another network (he kids). I play Daks, (Eugene or Hugene hence the name). I really had a bad investment scam during the pandemic, I had panic attacks and depression, but I had my wife and kid who were there for me during the whole ordeal. They were my rock, I just put everything to God. I post everything naughty on IG because I'm in a good mood. If I'm not okay, it's like an outlet, I think we all go through that. I think it's all fun.

Dave says "I auditioned for the role and I'm glad I got in. I already have gotten to work with Jerome in an endorsement, but Nikko was just so cool and funny so we didn't have to work so hard just to get along. Zeus is a Filipino American, he's got a secret that will be revealed in the latter part of the series. In the movie I had where I won an award, I played the young versions of them. Being part of that I felt really honored because I saw how they work. They pay attention to what the director wants them to do. In GV Boys, it's light, the energy is happy, we just help each other. Ms. Carmi and Ms. Wilma also share their experiences, and they're very willing to do that."

GV Boys will start on July 10 Saturday at 10PM and will be seen both on the Puregold Facebook page and YouTube Channel. Spread good vibes while watching! It's FREE, you can also win prizes if you watch it and participate in a few games while the sitcom shows on these platforms.

This looks fun!

The Search for the Sound of Seven Thousand Christmas Songs

Sunday, October 25, 2020

LA, Gretchen and Iman. Photo from Gretchen Ho's FB page.

It was an awesome night of music as the people from up and coming music label 7K showcased their talents and introduced a new show called “The Search for the Sound of Seven Thousand Christmas Songs.” They're no stranger to making music but doing this so they would be able to discover more talent and good Christmas music in the country is such a noble act.

For those who don't know, “The Search for the Sound of Seven Thousand Christmas Songs" is an online reality show in the search for talent and music that embodies how hopeful we are as Filipinos in this time of pandemic. Last October 16, we have had the chance to listen to legendary Jett Pangan (whom I listen to when I was a kid) and Gretchen Ho who gave much inspiration to us, the artists who plan to join and the other talents of 7K who were there that evening.

7K Sounds founder and artist LA Santos will be hosting the show together with Gretchen Ho and vlogger Iman Franchesca. They will also be joined by singer-songwriter and former frontwoman of General Luna Nicole Asensio. They will be also sharing their experiences so viewers, not just contestants, would be able to learn a thing or two about the music industry. The show ill be aired every Friday at 7PM on the official 7K Sounds Facebook Page. So if you are looking for a avenue to get into the music scene, “The Search for the Sound of Seven Thousand Christmas Songs" might be a good place to start.

The music label 7K Sounds wishes to get talent from across the country, they also do music production and distribution. They also ventured into creating online content and events, if you're interested in joining the competition, they listed the requirements here.

Good luck, and don't f it up!

Gretchen Ho Joins "Bayan Mo Ipatrol Mo" (BMPM) Efforts

Tuesday, February 23, 2016

Gretchen Ho made headlines when she started off as a Lady Eagle in UAAP a few years back. She's also made waves as a host, VJ and the better half of lover boy Robi Domingo, but during this small gathering at ELJ Building, she's putting the fame, influence and popularity to good use as she joins the "Bayan Mo Ipatrol Mo" family. The organization is part of ABSCBN's vast network that delves on citizen journalism, voter education and responsible reportage. Gretchen is already making herself useful by joining in on recent symposiums, workshops and telling the generation today how becoming a part of BMPM can actually make this election season a better one. She's been in different parts of the country already and taking much of her time to educate the youth, voters and non voters how to put to good use their voice on social media. Blogging per se like what we're doing is also part of that since we also are disseminating information to different sets of audiences and letting them know different ways how to help the country and voting public.

The forums and workshops will be done extensively before the actual election day and they'll be needing help from the likes of ordinary people like you and me. Citizen journalists in whatever way, shape or form, may actually send their reports to BMPM here and may get featured with ABSCBN's news channels, TV Patrol, Bandila and others. Ms. Jing Castañeda was also there to give her views, whilst still covering Mar and Leni in the Presidential elections. It'll be a great venue to tell what things are happening in your side of the world. With a "learned" disposition, you can make this a place to tell a larger audience what needs to be done so that politicians won't be abusing any of your rights, the rights of the community and the general public. The symposiums and workshops are important so that students, citizens can go ahead and ask questions so a definitive answer can be given and make your efforts a good one to educate others. We can also harness social media, handle the information here online or offline and use it to decide for the greater good of the country. ABSCBN also made apps for the COMELEC so it could help the government and you.

Here are snippets of our talk yesterday afternoon.

I also asked about the challenges that they're having while doing BMPM as they somehow mentioned some parts of the country are quite difficult to go to, they have confirmed security is a concern and is of utmost importance. They usually go to these destinations prepared so even if they may have some "not so much fans" of the network, they do what they have to do in order to achieve their goal of educating the Filipino voter no matter where they are. I felt that was a little assuring, hopefully people would be more receptive, participate and make a clear, sound judgment when the day to choose our leaders would come. Thank you to the people from BMPM for having us! It was a pleasure to hear from you and what you plan to do with Gretchen now that she's part of the organization.

Gretchen by the way also introduced her new blog called Woman In Action which you can find in www.gretchenho.com. She'll be posting demographics, and her causes to help with women empowerment. She feels it's her duty to use her influence and voice and act on women's issues, something we felt was a thing she's very passionate about. You may visit her blog soon for stories about that.
